Watching ABC's Lost on my Mac Pro *****

Hi, I've been watching a lot of TV shows like LOST on my Mac Pro Dual 2.66. I have no upgrades to the computer except that I have 6 Gigs of RAM. The video looks choppy which huge block sized pixels.
I watch it on a 22" Gateway WS HD and have something like 1600x 1200 on my monitor setting. I have high-speed internet from Comcast and have no other apps running.
Is it a setting thing or is it my video card?
Other players play horrible as well.

Where are the TV shows from? From the ABC site's streaming service? SD or HD? Full screen or windowed? Do you have the newest version of Flash?
On my Macbook, the HD streams from ABC look a little pixellated; windowed, they're acceptable.

Have you downloaded the show onto your Mac ? If you have it should show in the TV Shows part of your library e.g. with the left-hand sidebar enabled (option-command-S ona Mac) and TV Shows ticked on the General tab in iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) so that the category shows in your library

Drag them out of the Dock and they will go "Poof".

Try Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access. But for some operations you will need to authenticate to gain Administrator privileges.

Overall, it sounds like you would benefit from a visit to a bookstore and browse some of the Mac OS X books, drink some coffee (or your beverage of choice). Mac OS X the Missing Manual is a good choice, and maybe one of the "Switcher" books.

HDCP in the new Mac Pro - not allowed to watch my paid for TV shows?

My new Mac Pro won't let me play back my iTunes TV Shows as my 30" Cinema Display doesn't support HDCP. iTunes' suggestion of just connecting a HDCP compliant monitor isn't even funny: Don't have one, not getting one. Is this a bug, and if so, is there any way around it? Or is Apple trying to increase their 24" sales by denying people access to their already paid for content?

I also have a new MacPro and it also will not play my library of HD movies and TV. The only solution I received from Apple was to change the default play HD to SD which defeats the purpose.
What is annoying is that Apple puts no warnings on iTunes or none that I can find.
That they could not tell me if any Apple display or other make would enable me to watch HD
So I am compelled to use my credit card to reclaim all the HD purchases and if the MacPro cannot produce HD content then I I'll use them to seek recompense.
I love Apple products but I do not like the lazy or arrogant get lost behavior. Finding a solution should be on the iTunes site.
And there's should be clear information on Apple displays... which there is not... and Apple Stores simply do not know. Back to 1997 "Never heard of that sir!"

The "right click" is a function of the OS and those keyboard commands do not work on the iPad at all with the built in virtual keyboard. I don't use an external keyboard - so I cannot attest to the possibility of that working - but there are no keyboard shortcuts with the iPad keyboard.

Are you sure that the "On My Mac" folders weren't empty? If all your mail accounts are IMAP, they may have been.

Can't watch video just purchased from Store on my Mac Pro w/ 23" Cinema Dis

I've searched on here and there are a few comments. But I don't understand.
I just purchased one (thankfully) episode of a TV show from the iTunes store. Naturally I want to watch it. But "this movie cannot be played because a display that is not authorized to play protected movies is connected."
Well yes. I have an Apple 23" Cinema display. That and the 30" is the only display I could buy when I purchased my previous Mac Pro. Now I have a new one with the smaller video port option but nothing is connected to it. My Cinema Display works fine. And it is matte finish!!
So what is the answer? They did not warn me not to buy the movie. But they do mention AppleTV often in suggesting I watch this on my TV. I want to watch it on my computer monitor. There's no TV in my office.

It took 2 flummoxed AppleCare techs and a high level one (and a frustrating hour) to learn that if I can find how to get to the SD version of the file I can watch it on my Apple computer monitor.
I do not believe it said anything on the purchase page about the necessity of having only the current HDCP aware monitor or AppleTV in order to see the HD content that the store sold me.

Mac Pro 2009 Raid Set Lost after Hard Reboot

We have a newer Nehalem based Mac Pro with a 2009 Black Apple Hardware Raid card. The Hard Drive Configuration is: 4 x 2TB Western Digital drives setup as a Raid 1+0 array providing 4TB of space with what we believed to be optimal performance and redundancy. We had two volumes / partitions configured on the array, one 120GB for the OS and the remaining 3.8TB for data.
Everything was working fine when the server froze up. ON the Screen an error message said there is a problem with your Raid controller, Please open Apple Raid Utility.. Unfortunatly when we tried to do that we just got a spining beachball. We tried to open finder and it beachballed. We tried to force quit and nothing working. Finally we were left with no choice but to do a hard restart of the server and turn the machine off and then back on.
When the server came back on it would not boot up. We were greeting with the Folder with a Queston Mark. We booted from the Mac 10.6 Snow leopard Server Disk and opened up Apples Raid utility software. Much to our shock the Raid Set and the two Volumes were not shown in the Utility. However all 4 of the drives were listed and all being shown as Green light good status, but listed as "Roaming". We weren't sure what to do, the volumes weren't accesible since they didn't exist, the Raid set wasn't there, there was no way to run something like Data Rescue Recovery software. We tried calling Apple and have to wait until they open this morning. After looking online at various forums we came accross this problem with no solutions. Most of the people with the problems had the older 2006 Blue Raid card, and this appeared to be a common issue amoung others with the older card. I decided to try and re-create the Raid 1+0 set. However as soon as I did that I was prompted by Raid Utility that the drives I was selecting to use for the Raid set were already a part of another raid set and using them would delete the data on the set. I obviously canceled the process. Crazy enough the system knows the drives belong to a Raid set but doesn't realize it should know what the raid set information is.
We were using Mac OS 10.6.7 Snow Leopard Server, and I even tried installing and updating an external drive with 10.6.7 Server and booted from the drive from the machine and try to run Raid Utility. That did not work either. Any advice from anyone would be awesome. I'm worried what Apple is going to say when I do get a hold of them, the system is under Apple Care warranty. I haven't lost data, but in my 2010 Mac Pro with 2009-vintage Apple RAID card, it has this Really Annoying Habit of constantly losing Disk 3 (the spare) in my 4x2 TB internal RAID5 array whenever I have to do a hard reboot.
I keep having to re-mark the now-"Roaming" drive as a Spare and then wait 8+ hours for it to rebuild the array ... grrr.
I saw an Apple KB article that suggests removing the Roaming disk and re-inserting it. Duh. Fat lot of good that did. Really wish there was some answer to this issue ... hard reboots should NOT cause array disks to go from "Assigned"/good to "Roaming"!

That would indicate a network issue.
Reboot ATV and router
Make sure DNS is set to auto
Ensure router is up to date, if on wifi try ethernet
Go to istumbler.net to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise

These may be different issues, but lets look at rentals first.
Poor motion can result from mismatched output. If your source is 24 or 30 fps you should set the output of the Apple TV to 60 Hz, for 25 fps content use 50 Hz.
Additionally motion software on the TV itself can cause the picture to jump, check your TV settings and turn off any motion settings in use,

Watching blu-ray movies on mac pro?

I have a 3.0 Harpertown Mac Pro and was wondering how the performance is when watching a 1080p blu-ray movie using windvd under windows 7? My current video card is the ATI Radeon 4870 Mac edition and my monitor is the 24 inch cinema display with isight.
I just purchased from owc an internal blu-ray drive. I have really been spending my money on middle of the summer clothing rather than more memory on my mac pro. My current mac pro memory is at 2GB. With the video card I have + monitor and memory, will I be able to power a 1080p blu-ray movie?

I play Blu Ray movies on my Mac Pro (early 2009, 16 GB RAM) w/MCE Blu Ray drive and an ATI HD 4870 video card. I use Vista Ultimate and Corel WinDVD 9 Plus w/Blu Ray to play them and the quality is superb.
I don't know what the minimum RAM would be but I'd guess that 2GB would give questionable results.

There are various browser scripts
1: Java (not needed much at all and highly advised to be turned off in Safari/Firefox preferences due to it's vulnerability)
2: Javascript (if off, needs to be turned on in Safari/Firefox preferences as it's used A LOT)
Note: If your using a NoScript type blocker, then you need to whitelist the site. Or drag a Temp Allow All button to Firefox's Toolbar.
3: Silverlight plug-in (needed for watching Netflix content, it's from Microsoft)
4: Flash (needed for watching a lot of web based content, but requires constant checks to make sure it's current as they have a lot of security issues)

I lost paid-for Apps after Migrating to Mac Pro

I was running my iPhone from an iMac and had a number of paid-for Apps from the Apple Store. I have today migrated to a Mac Pro and when I connected my iPhone to iTunes it synced, but when it had finished I found that I had lost all my paid-for Apps!
How do I recover the Apps that I used to have? Is there information I need to copy across from my old iMac to my new iTunes on the Mac Pro? And if so, how do I then get them back onto my iPhone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are the apps still present in iTunes (the Applications section of the library)? Make sure iTunes menu > Preferences > General tab has the box to show Applications checked.
Did you Authorize your Mac Pro, and Sign In to your account (both in the iTunes > Store menu)?
