Watching BBC highlights in Australia

Can anyone help? Got a MacBook and high-speed broadband connection here in Australia. The BBC highlights that I try and watch come over as very poor quality. Bad image quality. Is there any way to improve this? Seems to be the same quality in both Windows Media player and Realplayer.

What BBC highlights? Is this something you downloaded
from iTunes (the forum you are in)?
The 'highlights' are things like sports that the BBC has broadcast. You can watch the highlights and interviews. It is on the BBC website:
www.bbc.co.uk/sport
I can't find a way to download them, they may be protected by copyright or such like, if I could then I'm sure I could watch in good quality.

Depending how you did the installation, you may still have Flash, but it will need updating to the latest version (not least for security reasons).

How do I watch BBC iPlayer in full screen with flash player 10.1

I was able to watch BBC iPlayer in full screen with Firefox. I can now only watch full screen with IE.
Why can I not watch iPlayer in full screen with Firefox anymore?

I have tried in safe mode and as expected it makes no difference. I am still not able to view in full screen like IE it just shows a blank white screen. I was able to view full screen with the same extensions before so removing them has not made any difference.

When watching baseball highlights the video is slower than audio. I checked all my plug ins and they are up to date. suggestions?

I have been having problems when watching video clips from news but mainly when I check the video highlights on mlb.com. The video is slower than the audio. It freezes up at times or drags.I have checked all my plug ins on firefox and they are up to date. I checked my PC for errors and cleaned it. But still having problems.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Watching BBC News videos on an Ipad 3

Hi just wondering if anyone can help me out...
I'm not able to watch videos on the BBC News website using the iPad 3. I realise that they are flash videos and the iPad cannot play or download flash...but is there definitely no way around this? The BBC News app is a partial solution as it lets me play videos using the same iPad but there are so many videos in the archives of the main site that I'd love to be able to access.
If anybody has any tips then I'd be really grateful. I guess it's the same situation for all sites that contain flash content...

That's great. iSwifter and Puffin both work though the latter seems to have better sound. They are both free too - looks like you have to buy Skyfire and Photon.

Buy a suitably-sized external HD (allow for future increase of your internal data), preferably firewire but a USB drive will work. (Although it used to be that some USBs won't boot a Mac, but my 5-year-old SATA ex-internal in a USB case works OK, as do LaCie drives).
Download Carbon Copy Cloner (search for it). Its free (donations invited). I have used it for years, 100% reliable, and SuperDuper is also said to be good.
CCC is very easy to use. It asks you for the source disc (your Internal system HD) and the target disc (your new external). Press a button and it takes about an hour the first time, less later. Meanwhile, you can continue to use the computer.
The result is a bootable copy of everything (and that means every single thing) of your internal HD. For example, you can specify that copy as the start-up disk, or more commonly, hold the option key down when restarting the computer and when asked, choose the copy. Restarting on the clone can take me back to exactly where I was at 7 am that day. A huge life-saver. The loss of an internal HD without a backup (and it happened twice to me but I had a clone) would cause huge disruption.
I have CCC set to make a bootable copy at 7 am every day. If my HD failed in some way, I could get bace to exactly where I was at 7 am that morning.
I also have Time Machine set up, but it has failed three times and I would only use it to recover a recent file or two.
Another thought: When upgrading the computer's OS, I make another clone of the old system, just in case the new OS installation fails (or better, I install the new OS when booted on a very recent clone, so I can ditch the clone if the installation fails and return to the old OS on the internal). Also, I have a bootable copy of Snow Leopard for the remaining old software that will not run on Lion.

Hi, does anyone know why I cant stream BBC news, 4OD and 5OD. I am in the UK and have updated flash etc. I can stream youtube and BBC iPlayer?

Thanks for the suggestion, but have tried firefox with the same result. Thats what made me think it was a problem with the os.

iPhone 3g, firmware 2.2: when I tap on the play video button on BBC iplayer, media player is seemed to load but everytime the same error message comes out "this video could not be played"! No, you don't need extra software to view the BBC iPlayer on your iPhone and even if you did you wouldn't be able to download and install it because the iPhone doesn't work like that.
I suspect your problem lies with the fact you're using a jailbroken iPhone.

Several thoughts (WAGs, actually).
I wonder if that's a characteristic of iPlayer (I don't use it) in that it won't play until the entire video downloads. Does this happen with other apps?
This may be the Reset that you've already done but I want to be certain. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
