Watching HD youtube videos

I've got a MacBook Pro. First generation. I have a 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo with 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Every time I try to click "watch in HD" under a youtube video, the video becomes choppy and out of sync with the audio. I've tried downgrading from flash 10 to Flash player 9 and still experienced the same results. Is my laptop not powerful enough to handle these youtube videos or is there something else that is causing these HD youtube videos to play in a choppy fashion? I'm loosing my mind so a quick response would not hurt.
Thanks

Rob,
I've had a look at these videos with my Penryn (8600M GT) Macbook Pro, and they work well enough. The video footage is not terribly high bit rate, and not all that "HD," so your Macbook Pro should handle the video itself relatively well.
The problem is that it is running in a Flash player. That is probably what your Macbook Pro is "choking" on. The results are the same. In the end, the answer is "Yes," it is your slower Macbook Pro.

I have a  iPad, 32g, and for no apparent reason, the screen goes black and whatever app I am using is closed on me. It seems to be happening more and more frequently, especially when loading apps, or trying to watch a YouTube video. I try to open safari or youtube again and it will often crash several times before it may or may not decide to load for me. It is extremely annoying and getting to the point where I can not use it

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are as follows:
Power the iPad off and on.
An iPad reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.
Restore your iPad with iTunes from your iPad's backup.
Restore your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from your iPad's backup.
If no change after the last step, your iPad has a hardware problem.

    Hi ..
    Try a reset.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • Watching a Youtube video my sound stops across my whole machine until I exit firefox

If I watch a Youtube video for a couple of minutes the sound suddenly cuts out yet the video carries on playing. No plugin crashes. All sound across my machine has stopped. I can open MP3's in Zoom player and it moves the timer along but no sound comes out.
I have to exit Firefox and Zoom and restart Zoom and my sound is restored and the MP3 plays fine.
I have to exit Firefox and restart it to carry on watching the Youtube video and the sound will cut out again a couple of minutes later.

Try to play with ur RAM , take out 1 socket and try to power it on with 1 stick ..

why does watching just youtube videos causes my fanspeed to be very audible! im using a retina MBP 2012 june

Video use a lot of CPU/GPU resources and thus creates heat.  The fans speed up in order to dissipate the heat.  If you open Activity Monitor, it will show you the % of CPU that the video utilizes.  At high speeds, the fans are very much audible.
    ciao.

Have you ever even used skype on an iphone or ipod?  We tried it and there is no way to type to each other while you are video chatting.  You can do the typing during the video on a COMPUTER, but not on an iphone or ipod.

  • I have downloaded the latest version of flash player, yet when i go to watch a youtube video, it says that the plugin is missing?

I just got my macbook pro today. I went to youtube to watch a video, but it told me that i needed to install flash. I followed the link and installed it, and despite the fact that it told me that is installed successfully, I still am not able to watch youtube videos because i am "still missing" flash.

    Try rebooting your computer

  • Safari freezes when trying to watch some Youtube videos

Sometimes I hate watching videos on youtube because something is causing it to lock up with the spinning ball as soon as I click play. At first I thought it may have something to do with the footage being in HD but I can easily turn that option off. I normally will have to force quit Safari then open it again, go back to youtube, pull the video back up, then it will play fine with no issues! Why does it take that process to watch some of these videos?
Anybody else having issues with youtube and safari locking up?
Is there a workaround besides the way I have to do it when this occurs?

    HI,
Most YouTube video is streamed via the Flash player plugin. Try uninstalling the current copy of Flash, then reinstalling new then repair permissions.
Go here and follow the instructions. Uninstall Flash
Install the most recent version of Flash here.
    Now repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Probably a good idea to run the AHT is the fan situation persists. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12361787#12361787
Make sure there is enough free space on the startup disk. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.

  • I can play games that use Flash in Firefox 11, but I can't watch any YouTube videos at all. Why?

For some reason, YouTube videos won't play on Firefox. I have the latest Firefox browser (11.0) and the latest Flash player (11.2.202.228). I'm also on Windows 7 if that matters at all. What's weird is it just stopped working literally minutes after my sister watched the last YouTube video that worked.
Now when I go to YouTube on any computer with Firefox, when I go to a video there's just a black box and when I right click it it says "Movie not loaded..." and none of the video thumbnails are visible either.
So far I tried disabling Firefox's crash protection for Flash, and disabled hardware acceleration but neither one fixed my problem. Please help if you can.

Question: When you refer to an app here --
''I've been able to recreate this bug every time by opening a stream in one tab, any other page in the other and then starting the app - freeze every time.''
-- is that a completely unrelated application outside of Firefox, or something in another Firefox window or tab?
If you have not already tried disabling the protected mode feature of the Flash plugin, the following pages/posts provide different ways to do that:

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (restarting Firefox might help) before this would take effect.
