Watching Itouch through TV

I have bought a IW300 docking station with leads to try and watch the itouch through the TV. What setting do I put the TV on? I have a TV with the three coloured plugs on the side. The freeview digibox is separate. I have plugged everything in and switched off the digibox but cannot get the movies to play on the TV. I have tried the AV1 and AV2 channels but no sucess and nothing comes up automatically.
I have tried viewing with the digibox switched on but again nothing. Should the movie just come up automatically?
I have enabled TV out on the itouch.
I am loath to spend out for the Apple cables in case they don't work - the iw300 cost me £15 so that appears already to be wasted.
Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

I'm pretty sure the IW300 *will not* support video output from the Touch (or new Nano for that matter).
I have a Creative Xdock which supports video from 4G and 5G iPods *but not the Touch* also, I knew this before I bought it though and only wanted its music streaming capabilities.
Anyway, for video veiwing on my T.V. I use an Apple component cable, these apparently have a chip in them that the Touch output needs. The composite cable has the same chip too. Pretty good value too as they come with an AC charger bundled. You can sometimes find them discounted in non Apple stores, i.e. "Game" or "HMV" etc.

It doesn't work that way, sorry. When video out is being utilized, only the movie artwork (the cover or image) is displayed, and the actual movie is not displayed on the iPhone's screen.

hey guys i would like to know if i could watch movies through my tv with my ipod touch 4g using the component AV cable. As i read some posts around internet there seem to be some problems either with the compability of the tv or the ios version. is it true?any infos around the subject gladly accepted. and finally i heard that movies purchased from itunes arent "supported" from the cable and cant be shown.True?and what about these that are transfered through pc (via itunes)? thnx in regard!

no, i had to leave so i logged out and when i opened itunes on my mac and went into the downloads tab it only had one paused download listed. i resumed the download for the one movie listed and the other one never showed up. its been about two weeks since i initially bought the two movies so i figured something was wrong.

I am not sure which PowerBook G4 you have and what type video out port is on it. You may have a DVI or VGA. You will need a cable to connect to the HDMI or VGA port on your TV set. If you have DVI on your computer you can get a DVI to HDMI cable like this one to connect the computer to the TV. If you have only a VGA port you will need a VGA cable. In addition to the video connection you will need an audio cable to connect the computer at the headphone port to the TV set. Check to see which ports you have and post back.

All Plugins are up to date.
Unable to access the settings menu in Flashplayer when I right click on the video. It is grayed out.

Found this posted on another thread by letheaqua which solved my problem:
"A youtube or Firefox bug. Delete all cookies from youtube cookies first > open firefox tools> options> privacy> firefox will: choose in drop down box:use custom settings for history>
show cookies> delete youtube cookies
in box:accept cookies from sites> choose exceptions> add:http://www.youtube.com> click ok at bottom. Firefox will no longer accept cookies from youtube.
This is a temporary until bug is fixed"

Watching itouch on a TV screen - follow-up question

Have now got the right cable (and thanks very much for the responses) to watch my itouch on a television
When I watch a film on a TV, the picture on the itouch screen doesn't move, as it would if I was watching via the itouch, or go blank after a minute or two, as it does when I listen to music
Is this normal, and could it damage the screen, if it stays with one unmoving image for too long?

you can't watch video on the ipod touch and the connected tv at the same time
and why don't you just press the sleep/wake button if you don't want to risk screen damage

HT2729 how can i watch a rented movie purchased through itunes and synced to my iphone 5 without watching it through itunes app?

i have rented a couple of movies for my daughter to watch on the plane, but i cannot view them unless it's through the itunes app on my phone. I cannot use any apps without service and i don't get any service in the air without wi-fi. Is there another way i can watch them or have i missed or skipped a step in syncing the movies to my iphone from itunes???

I have a second generation Apple TV .. I can watch the movies in iTunes but they freeze when I try watch them on my Samsung Smart TV ..

Well, I would have thought so too, so if you can tell me where else to look, I'd appreciate it. I can look in my itunes account on my computer and see Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, of Spongebob Squarepants, Season 1 of Criminal Minds, Season 1 of Tuff Puppies and a set of Spongebob stuff called 'Absorbingly Spongebob'. When I put on my Apple TV 2 (the black one), under TV Shows, I see Season 1 of Criminal Minds, Season 1 of Tuff Puppies and Absorbingly Spongebob. I see no difference in the shows except that my granddaughter has watched the 8 seasons that don't show on Apple TV whereas she has not watched the others.
I have 21 movies on my itunes account and only 16 of them show up on Apple TV so there must be a reason some things show up and others don't. Have read through some of the posts here and there may be some issues with agreements but Spongebob Seasons are available to buy through Apple TV - exactly what I have already bought. That's why I wondered if I would be charged again if I simply bought them again through Apple TV.

How to watch videos through browsers(E60)???

I have a E60 that works perfectly so far but I have always faced one problem. How to watch some video that are offered in some webpages? I have tried using the two different browsers that are available on the phone.

If the video you are trying to view is encoded in an unsupported format, all you can do is:
- request the video creator to provide the video in another format that your phone supports
- download it first to a PC and use a PC based video converter to get it to a format your phone supports

No infinity - told by BT could watch app through T...

I was told that as cant receive infinity in my area I would be able to download the app on iPhone then watch through TV. Got the app already had the cable required but doesn't work. Help anybody

Watching videos through Safari on You Tube etc

I can't seem to watch any videos through Safari for instance on You Tube. They begin loading but never play. Please help I'm getting desperate!! And please use basic English I'm not at all technically minded, thank you!

Just to expand on Baby Boomer's good advice:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

I have gotten this to work through a third party product called airparrot www.airparrot.com. You can download a trial version to test with with your Mac. No additional config changes required for the Apple TV.

Watching FIOS through my computer is not working

I have a HP computer that has a TV Tuner card. I had Comcast cable, and used to watch, record, and schedule recordings of TV shows though my computer. I was able to do this all through Windows Media Player on my computer, and I was able to see all the schedules of TV shows for the next two weeks. WIndows Media Player even showed the pictures for each movie or TV show.
This all worked perfectly with Comcast.
When I switched to Verizon FIOS, this stopped working. I have called the verizon help desk, and nobody knows what I am talking about. Has anyone experianced this, or does anyone have an suggestions?

Does your card have a QAM tuner? Comcast is a combination of of NTSC (old analog) and digital (QAM). Even if your tuner card has a QAM tuner, you will only be able to get the local SD, local digital (HD), music, and PEG channels - these are all that are sent in clear QAM. None of the national channels (ESPN, USA, Sci-Fi, etc.) will be tunable (since they are all encrypted) unless you have a cable card from Verizon.
Search the forum for more information on tuners and what you get without an STB.
