Watching movies via usb on my Samsung HDTV (46C6300)

I have been watching movies on my TV by plugging in my flash drive and playing either mp3, mk4, avi, etc. When I try to do the same with My Passport USB 3.0 (for Mac), the machine reads the device, but doesn't read/find any of the movies that I have copied onto the Passport. What am I doing wrong? I was told that I could watch movies via My Passport in the same manner as with my "Cruzer Flash Drive". Can someone help? My husband is getting pretty upset that I do not have this up and running yet. Any help is gratefully appreciated!!!

Why does watching movies from iCloud fill up storage? And why do I have to reset to clean storage?

i watch movies from iCloud. some how it fills up my storage,but I can't clear it without resetting. What am I doing wrong?

If you are talking about the movies that have the cloud icon next to them, you are not actually streaming them. You are downloading them from the cloud. If you completely download the movie, then you will be able to delete them as John Galt is describing above.
This isn't made every clear by Apple, IMO. Most people assume that they are streaming, but when you tap the cloud icon, you start downloading the movie and it can't be deleted until it is fully downloaded. I have been down this road a few times myself.

Can I share movies via icloud?

I am trying to share a short QT movie with my niece which I made using my iPhone 4.0 ios 6 to her iPod touch ios 6.1.6. I have succeeded in creating and sharing a folder to her via iCloud to her iPod as well as other Mac users and their ios devices, but my niece can't receive the movie. I can't send it thru Messinger or email since it is too big. I can send her pictures and others the movie.

Sorry for a basic question - I have an active Netflix subscription for streaming.....but cannot figure how to watch movies on my iPad air??
I tired "activating a device" on Netflix but cannot figure what code to put it??

since the most recent update, iTunes starts automatically. I can quit iTunes at least 10 times since it finally stops to launch.
Any idea, why?

Thanks for your helpful hint, but unfortunatly it did not solve the problem. I know, its rather difficult to explain:
I use the same order on MacBook Pro & Mac Mini (sorted by name in descending order). Both display the photos in iphoto correct as follows:
"20111009 London
20111008 Festival
20110924 Marriage
20110820 Summer
20110617 Italy
20110524 Spring
...etc...
20030101 Wintertrip"
But on apple tv 2 - only when using the Mac Mini as the source - the order is wrong like this (on apple tv 2):
"20110924 Marriage
20110820 Summer
20110617 Italy
20110524 Spring
...etc...
20030101 Wintertrip
20111008 Festival
20111009 London"
Using my MacBook Pro as source for the apple tv 2: everything is fine, the sort order on my apple tv 2 is correct. I imported "20111008 Festival" and "20111009 London" both after the update to iOS5, when I returned from London. I updated my Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and my apple tv 2 (ios5, iphoto 9.2 and iTunes 10.5).
I did another test and changed the sort order on the Mac Mini to be sorted by date and in ascending order. This had no effect to the way the photos are displayed on apple tv 2. The photos are still displayed wrong as described above ("20111008 Festival" and "20111009 London" are put to the very end). It seems, as if apple tv 2 does simple ignore the sort order given by Mac Mini. On apple tv 2 I have to scroll down to the very end to watch my Festival photos and my London photos.
I have two apple tv 2 and the problem is just the same. This is why I thought it might be a problem of my Mac Minis iphoto library or the way it is transmitted via iTunes.

Since IOS8 and iMovie 10.0.5, using Theater, I cannot transfer my movie to my iPad. iPad does not see the movie via iCloud. What other ways can I transfer my movie from my iMac to my iPad?

Before installing iOS8 on my iPad, and also updating to iMovie 2.1; and installing the Maverick on my iMac, new movies I make on the iMac and load into Theater do not come over to my iPad. This seems to be due to a new Yosemite OS no yet released. What are a couple of other ways I can transfer my movie to my iPad? I am out of ideas.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here.
Audiobooks (and ringtones) are currently a one-time only download. I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them who are requiring the one-time only download restriction. To get it onto your other devices you will need to sync it via a computer. Depending upon what country that you are in, Audible.com have their own app (Audiobooks from Audible) so you might be able to buy direct from them, though I don't know whether you can buy within their app or download audiobooks directly from them within the app e.g. whether they need to be copied via a computer.

Cannot send message via iCloud with movie

Email is sent if I remove my embedded/attached 23MB Quicktime movie is removed but not with the movie - via iCloud.
and my other (non-iCloud) account doesn't send any mail at all.

I went into #3 stmp.me.com.myname[STMP] and made changes I wanted to be in conformity with instructions of iCloud: Mail server information.
     So now the Account info reads 1: Description = my email address at [email protected]
                                                      2:   Server name = stmp.me.com
                                                       3: Default port 587 was already active
                                                       4: Authentication = Password (my iCloud password from Keychain                                                                                                                                              access)
                                                        5: Username = my name
                                                        6: Password = (my iCloud password from Keychain access)
But got this alert: "Could not save changes. The servers marked with alert icons are in conflict and cannopt be saved. Two servers cannot share the same address and authentication settings.   Resolve the conflicts and try again."
I think (look but guessing) that my changes to #3 become in conflict with #4 -- and I don't see how to get out of the conflict (other than not saving the changes I made to #3 in accordance with iCloud: Mail server information.)
I am lost! Should I delete #4? confused and anxious . ....

I don't know how to get movies or watch movies via iPad 2 or is it even possible?

If the Vantaa that you are in is in Finland then you can only get 'short films' from the Apple iTunes store in your country (according to this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599). And as the terms of use of the stores state that you cannot use another country's store, then unfortunately you won't be able to get full movies from Apple - whether the reason that they are not available in Finland is due to your country's laws and/or licensing issues I don't know.
There might be other download sites where you can purchase films that are compatible with the iPad, but as I don't use any I can't name any.

Installing Maverick on my Mac lost almost all of the calendar entries. They are still on my iPhone and new entries move freely to both devices via iCloud. How do I get the entries from my iPhone to iCloud without losing them from iPhone?

Like many others after I installed Maverick I found that all the calendar history has been lost and most of the forward info has also been lost. Also in order to get calendar, contacts and notes to sync with the iPhone I have had to move to iCloud. Contacts and notes sync fine. new calendar entries sync ok. My iPhone has all the calendar entries that were on the Mac before I installed Maverick. So far iCloud has not overwritten them nor have they synced onto iCloud.
How can I get all the entries from my iPhone onto iCloud, without losing the only copy of my calendar from my iPhone?
Thanks Apple for deciding to take over my privacy. I do not want this data stored on a US based server. Fortunately Mail still syncs via my own email provider. I guess Apple will find a way to stop that soon too!

It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. You may want to consider importing the contacts from the email account you removed. You can do it easily by following the steps in this article:
iCloud: Import a vCard
You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
Select a vCard to import.
The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.

Actually, Plex does the best job by placing a black background to the internal iMac screen it's called Blanking.
However that does not turn off the backlit which is very bright on the iMac 24" also the internal screen will draw more power that way. As you probably know running bootcamp you can turn off the internal screen while watching a movie on the external. This isn't a hardware limitation, I hope Lion has this feature.
