Watching Netflix movies via cable to TV

I bought an AV cable to watch movies on my TV which are streamed to my iPhone 4 using the Netflix App. I can watch movies just fine on the iphone, but not so on the TV. The audio gets to the TV, but not the video. What setting do I need to change or what should I do to get the movie to appear on the TV screen.

What A/V cable setup are you using? The Apple branded setup that has a doc connector, etc or a simple generic cable that goes only into the headphone jack?
Either way however, up until the recent update to the Netflix App you could not use TV out from Netflix.
Are you using an iPhone4 ? The update above only applies to iP4.

This could be problematic.
It will depend on what model of iMac you have.
You may want to post machine info.
blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the work hardware.
Leave out the serial number.

Most of the iMac's have sometype of video output port on the back. You will problably need a converter.
The 'hollywood' industry has been making it more difficult to get video out over time to prevent copying.

iMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), is it possible with Lion?

Actually, Plex does the best job by placing a black background to the internal iMac screen it's called Blanking.
However that does not turn off the backlit which is very bright on the iMac 24" also the internal screen will draw more power that way. As you probably know running bootcamp you can turn off the internal screen while watching a movie on the external. This isn't a hardware limitation, I hope Lion has this feature.

Safari crashed while watching Netflix movie; now crashes repeatedly.

From the crashed part, it looks like it could be the cache that is causing the problem. If you can launch Safari (sounds like you can), before trying to browse anywhere try resetting Safari via the Safari menu > Reset Safari... (and make sure to UNCHECK the passwords option as it will delete those if you leave it enabled).

Best way instant watch Netflix movies?

Since I've added Windows to my MacBook Pro, I can now watch instantly many movies and TV shows though my Netflix subscription on my computer. I'm amazed at the quality of the movies and the uninterrupted streaming through my DSL connection. Next step is to try to watch the movies on a bigger screen. I've looked at Apple Cinema display (kind of pricey and space consuming). Ideally I'd like to connect it to one of my TV sets. The best location would be in the adjoining room. The TV only takes S-video, so I guess I'll need a DVI to S-video adapter and a long S to S cable - is such a cable available? Also thinking about getting an HD TV? Anyone knows what connection I'll need for that? MacBook Pro came with a DVI to VGA adapter.

You can certainly have long S-video to S-video cable of 10m or so (or link some smaller ones). Signal will deteriorate the longer your lead but I've run 10m from DVD to projectors and been happy with the results.
There's a DVI to S-video Apple adapter as I'm sure you've seen.
The one problem with using a Mac to connect to an HDTV is that depending on the TV there could be issues with overscan where one or more edges are shifted to some degree and also potentially with aspect ratio making the movie look distorted. I have a widescreen plasma that accepts HD inputs but doesn't have a full 1920x1080 panel - it's 1024x768 which makes the pixels rectangular and distorts the image.
I've only briefly tried connecting my Macbook to the set and got fed up as I couldn't easily tweak the image position etc (display shifted up and to the right slightly losing a bit of the top menu bar and a green line at the bottom), though it probably wouldn't matter for films.

The beauty of the AppleTV device (this forum's content not TV per se) is the HDMI output that just works with HDTVs to give brilliant output. Shame it doesn't do NETFLIX!

How do I correct the silverlight application storage error to watch netflix movies?

I get a Silverlight application storage error when attempting to watch an instant netflix movie. Following instructions of error message does not correct. Instant movies play properly with Explorer - but not Firefox.

o resolve this error, you will need to update Silverlight application storage:
1. From within the Silverlight player, right click.
2. Click Silverlight.
3. In the window that appears, click the Application Storage tab.
4. In the next window, click the "'Enable application storage" checkbox.
5. Click the "Delete all' button.
6. Click Yes.
7. Click OK.
8. Click your browser's Refresh or Reload button to continue.

When trying to watch a movie via apple tv how can you stop it having to download each time and using up all my internet data?

I have bought movies from itunes and now they are on my computer why is it that each time I try to watch the movie it re downloads and uses up all my internet data? How do I prevent this and make it so it just plays from my stored version on my computer hard drive? Please help.

I just started to Firfox 3.6 to watch Netflix movies and watch one and the next day went to watch another one and no sound what could cause this?

I have a new windows 7 computer and started to have problems with Explorer 64 bit with silverlight and could not keep it working so I went Firefox, however after watching one movie with it the second one I had no sound. Could my problem with silverlight effect the sound on Firefox? I can not get any sound out of it.

We actually have two time server PC's (half the banks on each). Of the two error modules, one is on each PC. There have been no changes to the PC other than anti-virus updates passed down from IT. AS far as network routing, to the best of my knowledge it hasn't changed. The IP's, gateway, DNS are all the same settings. It's always possible for IT to change out a switch or server somewhere in the infrastructure. I asked and they had not done so since the time this problem started occurring.
If we reboot the timserver PC, the FP2015 still maintains the 2028 (at least for the several hours we let it run after the reboot). The only way we can find to get rid of the 2028 date is a reboot of the 2015 module. Within 24 hours, the problem returns.
I didn't know there was an upgrade for just the time server software. I can check into that. Thanks. However, I'm not sure how much that will help. After all, 22 modules are working perfectly with only two experiencing problems. I'm tending to lean towards the belief that there is just something wrong with the modules themselves, even though I'm not sure what that would be.
Tonight I think I will try letting one module run with the net disconnected. Both modules have errored again today and I need to go fix them. After doing so, I think I will pull the plug on one for 24 hours to see if it has a 2028 date on it when it is reconnected. This might give me more insight into whether the problem is on the PC side (the time server or interface app running there), on the real time app (running on the FP2015), or perhaps some kind of fault with the hardware.

I want to watch Netflix movies.

This is a copy of what Netflix emailed me to describe to Apple support what my problem is.
"During the course of troubleshooting your issue watching instantly from Netflix on your Apple computer we discovered that your primary network port (en0) is not reporting its hardware address properly. The Microsoft Silverlight player that Netflix utilizes for watching instantly requires the hardware address of this network port to play back digitally protected content. The primary network port is typically the Ethernet port on the computer (with the exception being the Macbook Air) and reasons for playback failure can include hardware failure of the port itself or incorrect software configuration."
Whenever I try to play a movie I get a DRM (Digital Rights Management) error. I was told my primary network port should say (en1 or 2).
Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone help me fix it?

Generally, the ethernet port (cable) is en0, and Airport (wireless) is en1. You can see them in the System Profiler under Network.
It sounds like it is checking the MAC address, but I don't see why it would matter what the BSD name for the device is. Perhaps the silverlight software makes an assumption that Ethernet must be en1 and it doesn't like en0.
I just gave it a try over Airport and it streamed without a problem. Do you have the most current version of the silverlight plugin?

Why do I loss internet connections at frequent intervals while watching netflix moviesx

I have airport express which serves as wireless connection to my tv to watch netflix movies.I have roku xd as a streamer. At almostevery 7-10 minutes, I loss connection to the internet interrupting my movies . This happens at least 9 times thru a period of 1 hr. watch. Any thoght on this.

I would suspect inadequate bandwidth as the most likely reason ... and potentially Wi-Fi interference as the most likely culprit that is causing it.
Have you done any data transfer rate measurements on your local network or checked for any type of Wi-Fi interference that may be present in the area that may be preventing the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) from providing a clean signal to the Roku & TV?
Is the AXn the only wireless router in your local network?

Problems watching Netflix in Yosemite's Safari

Why can't I watch Netflix movies with Yosemite's Safari?, it says my computer can't playback premium video. I have just updated my os from Mavericks where I had no problems with it.

I already solved it: Enter Netflix and go to your account, then to your profile, then to Playback settings and there, uncheck the bottom option (prefer HTML5 instead of Silverlight), you should be able to play movies again... obviously, you have to have Silverlight in your computer.
The thing I don't like about this is that Apple says HTML5 is better in order to help save battery life... I will have to wait till Apple solves this issue so we can benefit of this.

Unable to watch netflix

For some time now I have been unable to view videos on netflix. I'm able to log in and select a video, however, the below screen shot displays the screen that I see instead of the video playing. I have been unsuccessful at trying to figure out a way to resolve this issue on my own. Is there anyone who can assist me?

After installing the Yosemite OS I have not been able to watch Netflix movies by using Airplay.
I found out that SAFARI is the CULPRIT.
Installation of the latest version of Silverlight does not help at all.
Use FIREFOX as the browser you will be able to watch Netflix. It works for me.
