  • How can I watch purchased movies on apple tv?

How can I watch purchased movies on apple tv?  I recently purchased an apple tv and cannot play the movies I have bought on my itunes account?
    Can anyone help?

You can also got to movies and select purchased and if it comes up cannot connect to server go to settings and scroll down to restart and it should work. That's what I did and it showed my purchased movies and I don't have my Apple TV paired with a computer. Just using iCloud. But you also can pair your computer but its not necessary to watch purchased movies you have bought through iTunes. Hope this helps.

Try to reboot your computer.  If that doesn't work, try deleting the movie and redownloading it (assuming no other AppleID is associated with your computer).
If neither of those work, try contacting the iTunes store.

  • Can't watch purchased movies on Apple TV

I purchased movies on Apple TV but I can't watch them through Apple TV, only through my computer. They are in 'Purchased on Apple tv" on iTunes but when I browse Apple TV, they are nowhere to be found. Do I need to transfer them somehow somewhere? Thanks!

Purchases made on the tv will at some point transfer themselves back to itunes, this will enable you to back them up and protect them against loss. Providing your sync/stream options are set accordingly you should then see them either be synced or streamed to the tv for viewing.

  • Watching purchased movie on ATV2

    hey
i just purchased a movie bundle through my apple tv (2nd gen), but didn't want to watch it immediately. now that i want to watch it, i can't find it anywhere.
i checked itunes and it does not show up in my purchased tab from quick links, however it does show in the bill within my purchase history.
as i understand it, some films cannot be redownloaded in the UK (where i am), however i believe these are not offered for purchase through the apple TV? so it cannot be that. also, as the apple tv doesn't actually store anything, it just streams it, i would HAVE to be able to redownload it in some way (or else I'd just be renting it). not only that, as it was a bundle i bought, i doubt they'd be expecting people to sit and watch three movies in a row...
i don't see any links on the apple tv to view purchased items, and my itunes doesn't show them either - and if i say check for downloads, it says i am up to date.
    any ideas?
    cheers

movies are offered for sale - at least nearly everything i look at says purchase or rent next to it...
here's the screen i bought it from, and the message i was given before confirming (all done on apple TV) - you can maybe just make out that it says Buy Bundle (sorry for the crappy photos)

  • HT5085 Cannot watch purchased movies on iPad

For my country, iTunes iCloud doesn't support movies. Currently, I'm not able to watch my purchased movies on iPad (suddenly something went wrong and they're visible, but unavailable...). How can I have my them back? Thanks

    Greetings Shamshin,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to watch previously purchased movie on your iPad without being connected to a Wi-Fi network. In this situation, I would suggest reading over the attached article that explains how to download your movies from the cloud so that they are on your iPad locally and will not require Wi-Fi. If these are the steps your are already going through and you are still required to be connected to a Wi-Fi network, please let me know.

Re: Bought a video - got the "cloud download" icon.
    eric says:
    See below from:  http://www.imore.com/movies-icloud-means
Underneath the "Purchased" option there is a "Downloads option" - This should get the d/l going if it hasn't started already.  Note - for movies greater than 100mb in size a wifi connection is needed.
To re-download movies you've previously purchased from iTunes on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
    Launch the iTunes app.
Tap the Purchased tab at the bottom (if you don't see it, tap the More tab and then check there).
Tap Movies from the selection list.
Tap on the iCloud icon beside any of your previously purchased movies to re-download.

  • TS3354 can i watch purchased movies/tv on my netbook without being connected to the internet ?

Is it possible to watch purchased TV/Films whilst not connected to internet .?

Why can't you use both your USB ports at the same time?  If the dongle is a bit fat, a bit of jiggling might work, it doesn't necessarily have to be all the way in.  Hold it still though.  I don't know of any way to update the software without an internet connection, sorry.

  • No longer able to watch Purchased Movies

Since upgrading yesterday to 2.4 Firmware can no longer watch movies purchased via iTunes when I attempt to watch movies on the AppleTV I get "Your Apple TV is not authorized to play this content" yet cannot find out how to authorize my apple tv I've tried going into settings > iTunes Store signing out and resigning in...
anyone else having this issue and/or know how to resolve it?

The only way to fix this problem is to have an update for firmware 2.4 and good luck with that as Apple thinks there is no problem with the software. The reason Apple TV can not play the content is because there was an update to iTunes and anything that was purchased before one updated iTunes is not recognized and therefore the message Apple TV is not authorized to play content. I restored Apple TV and started over with firmware 1 (like it when it was purchased) and everything worked perfectly. All music videos and movies that were purchased from iTunes played without a problem. I then update to firmware 2.4, which is the only update you can download now, and the problem was back. Anything purchased after the iTunes update will play and things purchased before the update of iTunes will not play. Apple Tech contacted by phone was totally unaware of any problems with firmware 2.4 and stated they would fix my Apple TV for $40.00 at any Apple Store, what a joke as there is nothing wrong with it. Its the software!!!!!!!!!

  • How to watch purchased movies on laptop.

Trying to watch movies I've purchased on my laptop.  It asks me to load Microsoft Silverlight which I did but still not working.  I can watch via app on ipad but would like to watch on my lap top too.
    Can anyone help?

You could get a mini DVI to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable to connect your Macbook Pro to your HDTV. Kinda like this one:

  • Unable to watch purchased movies full screen

    Using:
    Mac Mini G4 1.25Ghz 1GB RAM
Gateway FPD2185W 21" LCD HD Monitor (connected via VGA)
1680x1050@60Hz resolution (native resolution of monitor)
    iTunes 7.0.2 (15)
    Quicktime 7.1.3 (PRO)
The last 2 video purchases I have made from the iTunes store will not work using the fullscreen display preference in iTunes. The videos bought were "Taking The Wheel", and "Death Race 2000". When I try to play them full-screen, all I get is a black screen. I can hear the audio playing just fine, and I can see the mouse pointer, but no video shows, and the on-screen controls do not appear. The videos work fine in window mode, unless I try to enlarge the window. If I try to do that, the video either goes all black, or goes all white.
I already contacted support, and all they did was gave me a video credit to try and re-download "Taking The Wheel" (I bought Death Race 2000 several days later). Re-downloading the video did not solve the problem, which leads me to believe that it is either a problem with how the video is encoded, or a problem with a recent iTunes or Quicktime update.
    Mac Mini 1.25Ghz 1GB   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1GB RAM

Follow-up, if I open the videos with Quicktime directly, they play fine in full-screen, they still don't work set to full-screen in iTunes though.

  • HT3209 can't watch hd movie on computer, purchased on ipad, what do I do

My husband bought movies with his ipad2 that we are unable to watch on the pc laptop. Apparently the movies are in HD which our laptop is unable to support. Is there something I can do to view the movies (redownload in SD?).
I thought I needed to back up everything on the PC just to be safe --- I believe some movies cannot be redownloaded once purchased? So I don't have to remember which ones can't be redownloaded, I thought I would back up all movies to be safe.  If my thinking is wrong here, I'd appreciate some help.
    Thanks!

Not all movies can be downloaded again - that is correct. You have to live in the United States in order to have the capability of downloading any purchased movies again for free.
Launch iTunes on your PC and go to the iTunes Store. Click on Movies. On the right hand side under "Movies Quick Links" you will see a "Purchased" heading. Click on that and see if the Movies show up and if you have the option to download them again. Click on the movie icon. There will be a cloud icon in the resulting window that you can click on to download the movie. There will also be an option for "Download HD when Available" in the lower right corner of the main window. Uncheck that option for SD.

  • Closed captioning on FIOS library purchased movies

My grandson is partially deaf.  We have purchased a few movies, to watch online, and cannot figure out how to get closed captioning on.  This is NOT using the TV and set top box and remote; this is watching purchased movies online.  Does anyone know how to get the closed captioning, or is it impossible?  I don't want to buy any more movies if my grandson cannot get closed captioning!  Thank you!

    Donna,
It is up to the content provider to make Closed Captioning available for their movies, when you look up a movie for purchase if Closed Captioning is available you will see the CC next to the movie poster showing that Closed Captioning is available for that movie if you don’t see the CC then it’s not available.
Hope this answers yours Question, please let us know if you have any further Questions.

  • HT204370 Having trouble, purchased movie down loaded several times go to watch it later and it has to Down load again 3 hrs. .?

Purchased movies, download movie which can take more than 2 hrs. Too late to watch so turn TV off
Go to watch movie next day and now I must download again  3 hrs. Still can't get movie!

Well we found out what to do, Go to itues Prefrences and then go to play back, check the Preferred Video Version, and make sure it's in 720p not 1080p, you can down load 1080p movies and tv showe, but on the 1st and 2nd Gen Apple TV's they only play back 720p, the 3rd Generation plays 1080p and it's only 99.00.  We are getting one for Christmas from a Family member I think.  Good luck, and I hope this helps!!!
