I am very excited about the use of Acrobat.com. I have encouraged loads of friends and colleagues to use it, but this login in issue is more than a little dull. Is it because so many people are trying to access it?

While doing the most recent firmware upgrade, my new iMac hung on the spinning ball. The instructions said "not" to turn off power during the process, so I don't know what to do. The ball is still spinning.
If you tried resetting the ipod and it still keeps having the same issue you described, try setting the ipod to disk mode.

If you can get the ipod into disk mode, connect it to the computer and rrestore the ipod using itunes.

Iphoto doesn't crash but the wheel of death spins for 5-7 minutes
When I open and close iphoto it takes too long. When I upload pictures, after the pictures are loaded the wheel spins for 6 or 7 minutes. After I'm finished uploading photos, if I try use iphoto too quickly, the wheel comes on & spins for 5-7 minutes but does not crash.
i read that a few people have had this problem, myself included. I turned off "look for shared photos" option and it improved dramatically. (this hint was from macfixit.com)

Constantly locks up and I can't do anything. The wheel of death won't go away
At first I thought it was safari but now it's so bad it takes 10 min to start up bc it locks up so bad. The wheel of death appears just about every 5-10 min with everything we do.
Do you have 10% to 15%, or more, of your hard drive empty/free for systems usage?
Did you upgrade your OS X to 10.6, from what it originally shipped with? If yes, are there any login items or other programs (listed on system preferences under other) that need to be updated to run with 10.6?

I've tried cleaning up my desktop as I read somewhere that an overload of icons can slow down my computer.
I've checked my disk space and there's over 540GB left.
I've tried pressing the left Shift, Option, Control and Power buttons before turning it on, with my computer plugged into the wall.
I've tried pressing the left Shift, Option and Control buttons while my computer was booting up.
I've tried using CleanMyMac 2.
I've checked and removed any startup items.
It takes about 4-5mins for the computer to get to the login screen after I turn it up. It takes me a very long time to write in Word, in online Forums such as this one, in Notes as well. The Finder takes an incredibly long time to open and load up pages. Forget about watching videos online. Even opening pictures in Preview takes a while.
I really don't know what else I can do.

Ball of death after 10.5.8 upgrade, any ideas why?

I have just upgraded to 10.5 and then to 10.5.8 doing a archive and install, after this upgrade my mac starts, shows the login screen, I enter my password, and the login process starts, this is where the problem starts, most of the time the dock will appear, but no menu bar at the top of the screen, and no drives (two internal drives) shown on the desktop, then the ball of death just sits their for ever, i can move my mouse around freely, but thats about it, if i hold the ball of death over an icon in the dock it turns back into a black pointer, then if I say click on a icon in the dock, the icon stays selected and dimmed and no application activation happens, after this I cannot select anything, and the ballremains.
I managed to create another user account (eventually) and successfully logged into it, everything started and showed and worked as it should in this account, yet if I try going back to my other account the problems start all over.
I reinstalled 10.5 and this seemed to work ok, then I applied the 10.5.8 update again, and basically the above repeated it's self.
My mac isn't making any fan noises like the processor is trying to do something, and im working on the test user account to send this post
i'm stumped, has anybody got any ides about what may be going on?

forgot tot mention, this update was done using the combo updater, on G5 PPCI have managed to get the system prefs window open and navigate around the different features with out a problem, thing is my volumes still do not show on the desktop.
Some other interesting things are happening also, say I click on a folder in the dock, it opens up to reveal in a nice blackish looking window and a view of all the other folders with in, it gives me an option to click a button that says "reveal in finder" I click that and the window collapses and nothing happens, I would expect it to show in columns or something like that. I am also experiencing repeated dialogs (6 to 10) being thrown up saying "The Application "Finder" cannot be launched -1712, plus the continual spinning of the ball of gloom.
So im thinking their is a serious issue with the finder, of which I have trashed the plst, any thoughts?

CANNOT GET RID OF THE SPINNING BALL OF DEATH. TRIED MANY FORUMS AND NOTHING FROM APPLE, WHO DO NOT SEEM TO CARE!
Its actually the spinning ball of cool your jets while I am doing something -- Apple used to use a picture of a wrist watch - which was a better way of saying it.
I get the beach ball when starting up Photoshop - and in same when going into functions that are in VM or not open because I don't use them that much.
Other than that - you haven't stated what the problem is. -
I accidentally quit my CC on my Macbook pro and now the cloud icon is grayed out and every time I hover over it with the mouse I get the spinning beach ball of death on the icon. I have no idea how to open it because when I use spotlight search to open it it gives me a message saying "Creative Cloud is not open anymore" help!
Since you didn't include any pertinent info such as the Mac model and OS version you are running, here is some general information:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
Depending on which OS yours came with originally - and which OS you are now running - you would either need your original install disks - you can call Apple for replacements by giving them your serial number. Or you may be able to reinstall the OS by using recovery (again, depends on which model/which OS). -
How do you fix the spinning ball of death?
I have a Macbook Pro 13 mid 2009. It passes the Apple Hardware Test with no errors/problems. Every time I run the disk utility, I get permission errors. I fix them and they come back again. I did a clean install of OS X 10.8.4, but the problem is still there. Could it be a bad hard drive cable? bad hard drive? memory? If so, how do you test this since it passed the Apple Hardware Test?

I have no idea why this is happening. I normally use Word, Excel, Google Chrome and sometimes Photoshop when using my computer and then one day it started getting super slow. This is my etrecheck.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The beachball is literally every other minute. I tried to take the time to it's most basic second and it was 4:01:04 - I am currently backpacking in Laos with my bf and we are travel writers/photographers and he is helping me get this info.
We didn't know what anonymyze meant but we tried to make sure you couldn't see my name. So far the spinning beach ball has occurred 4 times in just writing these 4 lines.

Elaine, how much ram is installed in your Mac? Click the Apple icon at the upper left and choose About this Mac to find out. When you look at Activity Monitor the thing you want to focus on Is the page ins and page outs at the bottom ofthe AM window, if those numbers are high, and I suspect that they will be it's an indication that your Mac is using all of it's available ram. Most of the time adding more ram is a cure for the beach all, I have 12gb in my iMac and have zero page outs almost all of the time.

MacBook Pro 13 and the Spinning Ball of Death. How to fix it?
I bought my macbook pro last year and after several months, (summer 2010) i faced an isight problem. I went to info-quest, where they fix computers here in Athens,Greece and charged me 458 euros. Fortunately, I had the warranty and paid nothing. Till then I was really satisfied with my mac. However, recently i faced another problem with it. Yesterday, my mac became so slow and i get the spinning ball of death. I can't do anything right now, for instance, if i want to shut it down, i have to wait for a long period of time til it shuts down and my mac becomes so unresponsive. To sum up, everything i do, scroll down, scroll up, click the x button, the spinning beachball of death reappears. I really hope there is a solution for this problem.
Any number of things may factor into the appearance of a spinning ball of death, but it basically comes down to an operation or command that is stalled.
First, your quick fix: when you experience a SBOD, click on an empty patch of screen so you can access the pulldown Apple menu. Scroll down to Force Quit; approve of the Force quit, and enter. The command or operation will be aborted, and you'll be able to use your MBP again.
Second, the next time it happens, take note of which application is stalled when you navigate to Force Quit. It will be noted in red, and show as inactive. Now, you know which application is causing you the problem. It may be that the application is faulty, or you have too many windows open at the same time, or there's a conflict of some sort.

My iphone has the spinning ball of death and I dont know what to do
Well, the story begins like this... my phone died while i was in a bar with my friends. I was the designated driver, so I often use the GPS for our location. Well anyway, it died, and I gave it to the bartender to charge. 2 hours later, I get my phone back, and its charged on 8% -__- we left the bar, and went into a mcdonalds to charge it. It charged fine, up to 50%, then I took it out of the charging port, and the screen was COMPLETELY black. I heard my messages, my ringtones and all, but I couldnt get the display on. When I got home, I searched for answers, how to fix the black screen, but I couldnt find ANYTHING that fit my situation. I have an iphone 4 7.1.2, and the home button is broken. yes I need an upgrade, but i'm not trying to do it now. Well not being able to enter DFU, or turn off "find my iphone" from my phone, I opted to just go to icloud and reset the device. My phone was able to open in itunes at this point.... (my phone is jailbroken) I was relieved that after I reset the device, the light came on as well as proper phone function. After 1 minute, the phone cut off and showed the apple boot and load logo for 60%, followed by the spinning circle. 5 hours later, I let the phone die, and reconnected it. Everything worked normally for 1-2 minutes, then cut off and resumes with the load/boot, then spinning circle. and the same process over and over... If I let it die, I have a 1-2 minute time frame to get my pc to recognize the device. I wish to enter DFU mode then restore it with a backup I created. I've seen almost all of the youtube videos...i tried the stupid paper trick for the home button, and reset but it didnt work. I'm pretty sure the worse thing I did was reset the phone while it was jailbroken.. it would've been easier to work with if my phone was with the dark light. Is my phone a goner? What can I possible do? thank you for reading

If your device has been jailbroken during the warranty, Apple will not service it.
