Watching video downloaded from iphone

I downloaded some videos from my iphone to photoshop.  When I try to watch them I get a message stating:  The select file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor (codec) installed.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks.

Not really familiar with iPhone video files.
What's the format? What is the audio and video codec?

  • Can't watch video taken from iphon on PC

I've taken several videos with my iPhone but I can't watch them on ANY pc. I tried on my home pc, laptop, work PC, and a friends PC. I just get the message that the video file can't be played. I've got Itunes, quicktime, and all the other apple programs. The videos play just fine on the phone. Any ideas?

The iPhone records video in the H.264 video codec, which should be included as part of your install of Quicktime. What version of Quicktime are you running? You might check and see if there is an update that you might need to install. Do you have problems playing videos on the Apple Movies Trailer website? If yes, then you might be missing the H.264 codec for some reason. If no, then maybe the file is getting corrupted somehow when you copy it from your iPhone to your PC. I've has instances where a file said it finished copying and I tried to play it and couldn't (I got the same message you got from Quicktime), so I copied the file again and the file worked the second time.

  • Could not watch video downloaded from iTunes U

    Hi,
I have an iPod Touch 2g 8G, iPod OS 3.0 (7A341), Macbook Pro with Mac OSX 10.5.8 and iTunes 8.2.1.
I downloaded some lecture videos from Stanford iTunes U to my Macbook and sync it with my iPod Touch. I can watch the video in my Macbook but cannot find any video in Video app of the iPod. I actually found the video in "Movies" playlist when open Music app in iPod but it just played the video as an audio file. I also tried to download the video from my ipod, but the got the same problem.
From itunes in my macbook, i can see that there are more than 200mb of video in my ipod, so I am sure that the video file is there in the ipod. Could anyone tell me what is the problem here and how to watch downloaded video in my ipod? Thank you.
    -T

I think it's the problem with the videos. I can download and view other videos, but some of them just won't work, for example:
    http://www.stanford.edu/class/ee364a/videos.html
I actually could watch these videos using my iPod Touch before, but I think after I upgrade my iPod Touch to 3.0 (it's originally 2.2), I cannot watch them.
Could anyone tell me what's the problem with these videos? Thank you.

  • IOS7 Won't Allow Video Download from Iphone to Mac

I can't find an answer anywhere for this one. With an iPhone and IOS7, when you connect via cable to a mac (Mountain Lion), you cannot import video from the device to the mac. Image capture, iPhoto, Preview--they all show the device as mounted but they all see no video or images. Same computer with pre-IOS7 upgrade works fine. Anybody?

  • Can I watch video through my iPhone and TV at the same time?

Can I watch video through my iPhone and TV at the same time while using the Apple composite video cables? I am planning a trip in my car and would like to play videos for my kids through their video screen while my wife watches on the iphone from the passenger seat. I didn't want to spend $50 to find out it doesn't work.
    Thanks in advance!

It doesn't work that way, sorry. When video out is being utilized, only the movie artwork (the cover or image) is displayed, and the actual movie is not displayed on the iPhone's screen.

  • Can the first generation iPad play an 720p HD video downloaded from the iTunes store?

    Hello fellow Apple users!
I am just wondering if the iPad 1 could play a 720p video downloaded from the iTunes store.
I'd love to watch a movie in HD but I don't wanna waste money on something I can't consume.
    Thanks a lot!

    1. Double-click the Home button to see all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • 7.01 & videos downloaded from iTunes

I had to go back down from 7.04 to 7.01 in order to import footage to FCE. So, does that mean I can't watch videos purchased from iTunes? I tried watching videos - I can see the video but can't hear the sound. Is this a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't?

this is creepy - I have 7.04 on the G5, which is running 10.3.9 and I can hear the audio when I play video downloaded from iTunes but can't see anything. when I boot to the external hard drive, which is running 10.4.5, I don't get anything at all.

  • E Mac too old to watch Video streaming from web?

Hi good folks of Apple world. I am having an 'issue' with my eMac 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 with 1 GB DDR SRAM. Mac OS X Version 10.4.11.
Apart from a problem with the logic board (fixed under extended warranty) this has been an amazingly reliable machine. My problem now is video related, I cannot watch video streaming on the web, The feed is jerky and broken. In the UK my family watch the BBC i Player a lot. Something happened a few months ago after a security update, because before that I could watch the i Player, now we cannot. The same thing happens when trying to watch music video etc. I use Safari and Firefox, for a while we could almost watch video using Firefox, but now it's as bad as Safari.
Is it just that my Mac is too old? I heard that the BBC were not 'supporting' Apple product?
When watching video feed from the web at work, on a PC everything works fine?
Love to hear any informed comment?
    Regards, Alister

There's a variety of reasons for this problem...
Flash - Flash is bad. One possible solution is to downgrade to v9 of Flash, as it seems to run better on these machines.
Speed - yeah, the CPU isn't real current, so it's probably a bit of a factor - but in reality - I can watch any AVI/MOV etc, without a problem. Its only when I try to watch HD content that my eMac struggles. So, I really don't think the CPU/computer as such is to blame.
Websites - YouTube for example, is rotten for making their site full of crap that your eMac is having to deal with as well as play the video you are trying to watch. Stuff like telling you how to buy the song that's playing in the video... or other advertising crap etc. That all doesn't help.
BBC - I'm not familiar with the BBC's iView software/website, but for one thing, I'd be writing back and formally lodging a complaint that they don't support Apple Mac. That's poor.
One option, painful though, is to use Safari to load the video page, then look in the Activity Log to find the video file, double click it, and download it direct to your computer. Then watch it that way using something like "VLC".
