Watching video etc on TV

I have just got a Logic3 AV out cable for TV viewing. I tried a test video but couldnt hear any sound, I had to turn up my TV quite loud and then had to turn my iPod upto max to hear anything.
Is this normal?
Will I not damage my iPod by having it at max sound level?
cheers

Cant afford a new TV mate, just bought an iPod, charger, AV cable!!!! ;o)
the TV is set to about 1/2 way on volume, but as soon as the iPod volume is turned off max then the sound goes to where you cant hear it.
I was just worried about a max volume setting, as normally that would disort stereos etc

Remove all apps from multitasking bar. Double click Home button then tap and hold an icon and tap on little x on every app. Then reset. Hold down Home and Power button until Apple logo appears.

I tried watching videos using various apps such as meta tube etc.. But after 10 secs instead of video "Q" water mark comes and sound goes on. Can someone help?

The only app you specifically mention is meta tube. No way to tell from the description on the app page where they source the material (I suspect primarily YouTube), and no reviews as of yet. You might want to contact the vendor.
If you are getting the same results from established streaming apps, such as YouTube or Jasmine, I would say you have a connection speed issue (keeping the stream from properly buffering). Hard to say.
Try a rest: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the iPad back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

  • Alert box while watching videos/movies, etc

This has been happening for a while and it doesn't cause any problems, but I'm concerned by the fact that I don't know what it says. When I'm watching videos or movies on my MacBook there's a message box that pops up and then goes away. It goes away so fast that I literally can't even make out one word that's in it. It doesn't matter how I'm watching the movies... Netflix, Hulu, playing a DVD, etc. Has anyone seen this before and know what it's saying?

I have no idea what is the small pop up window have alert for you and this goes quickly, why dont you prepare example use ur ipad video record it face to ur mac screen hope this shown on ur ipad,u needs timing to pick this up and u can read it,u pause the recording once u saw it on ur ipad...this  is ur only  chance to read it.

  • Can watching videos too often on Macbook Pro "wear down" the screen?

I watch most of my TV shows on my new macbook pro, and my mother just informed me that if you watch videos too often on a mac, that the screen can apparently wear down and die. Is this true? I'm not sure exactly what she meant by that or what could happen to my computer, but it doesn's sound exactly correct. Thanks!

Back in "the old days" when we all had green letters on black screens like in "War Games" (Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy) there were problems with "burn in" which was caused by the fact that only certain parts of the screen got used because the displays were text only. This is kind of like a prehistoric version of the problem with early plasma displays. Efforts to save CRT screens led to the creation of the ever-popular "Screen saver."
Most moms don't track display technology, so the notion remains that all video monitors are just shinier versions of last century's 15"/50 lb. wonders. Not so. Today's monitors will wear out, but most will be killed by their users long before that. Modern monitors CAN go off in color, loose brilliance, etc. over time  but not specifically from movies.  Notice I said movies, not video. The way we use computers these days, pretty much everything is video.
    Keep calm and surf on.

  • I'm using an older iMac G5 (PowerPC) with Firefox and MacOs 10.5.8. I no longer am able to watch video clips because Firefox recently auto-updated to 3.6.24; is there an older version of FireFox that would work with my PowerPC, and where do I find it

I used to be able to watch video clips off a streaming website, but it's been getting more difficult and now it no longer works. I suspect that my older Power PC G5 Mac is not compatible with the newer Firefox version of 3.6.24. I suspect that if I used an older version of Firefox with my system, I could get back to watching video clips. Would this work, and if so, where can I download an earler version of Firefox that would be compatible with my Mac and MacOs 10.5.8?

You might want to consider extending the lifespan of your G5 by using a different operating system. I put [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubuntu Lubuntu] on a G5 recently and it runs the newest Firefox just fine. Lubuntu (pronounced Loo-boon-two) is sort of an Ubuntu lite - a user-friendly version of Linux. There are many applications to choose from, and it's all free.
The PowerPC I did this on was one of the old Bondi Blue ones. Firefox had no problem running on it at all and has all plug-ins needed for video, audio, etc.. I gave it to a church and it's running fine for them.
You can download old versions of Firefox, but you'll just open yourself up to security problems if you do.
FYI: The Mac operating system is built on Linux.

I sometimes have blue and red square-shaped dots appear on my MBP; especially but not exclusively when I'm watching videos.  The dots don't stay in the same place; and also they are not there all the time.  Also, sometimes my animations (applications opening, windows being dragged, etc.) will glitch as well.  Again, this is not a continual thing; it just happens variously throughout my day.  MBP Model A1212, OS X 10.6.8, 2.33 Ghz 3GB RAM.

Did the original songs that do not appear on the car player play in the Music app on the iPod? Sometimes glitches happen and they do not. Also, If y ohave a 5G iPod/iOS 7, purchase songs  will show with an cloud icon by them if they are not downloaded if Shall All is turned on in Settings>iTunes and App Store

  • Imac freezes when listening to NPR for halfway through Youtube videos, etc

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my iMac, and other post didn't seem to touch on this exact subject:
Everytime I am listening to NPR radio (online newscast stream), the stream will freeze repeatedly, thus essentially disabling me to listen. Also, this will occasionally happen when watching video on Youtube, Vimeo, etc. My iMac doesn't itself freeze, just the newscast/video. Is this a problem with my computer?
I installed an extra 4GB of RAM, thinking this would help, but to no avail. In fact, it seems worse. Anyone know what might be causing this?
    Thanks in advance,
    _ j

It's probably nothing to do with your iMac but the stream coming from the provider. Where I'd begin looking is your w-fi settings. For example if you live in an area with lot's of wi-fi networks you could be competing for bandwidth with your neighbors. This can be easily solved by changing the wi-fi channel. Most wi-fi networks use channels 5 or 6 as their default channels and most users are too lazy to change the channel although there are 11 to choose from. My recommendation is to download and install iStumbler and see which channels are being used. Then it's a simple matter of changing your channel. If you're using an Apple router (Airport Express, Airport Extreme or Time Capsule) then simply launch Airport Utility and make the change. If you're using a third party router then look in the manual to see how to change channels.

  • How can you watch videos without flash player?

Is there any way to watch videos on ipad that say you need flash player.  I know Apple does not support Flash Player.  It's really annoying.

I use Puffin, most recently, it is actually much faster than Safari, as advertised. Videos play flawlessly, also supports games, etc. And it is Free, or atleast offers a free version.
Photon is extremely popular as well, but is not a free app, and I find that it is much slower than the Puffin app honestly.
However just search the App Store as others have said, and read the reviews, you will find a bunch of apps. Reviews are generally numerous and reliable.

  • Imac overheating while watching videos

Recently i purchased a late 2011 IMac with a 21.5inch screen, 4gb of ram, 2.7ghz intel i5 proccessor. I use my imac really often for browsing webs, videos, etc.
I realized it often overheated at the top edge of the screen(above the camera) when i was watching videos. I thought if i continued watching videos it would get too overheated so i would put it to sleep and let it cool down b4 using it again and it get quite annoying. If any1 has any suggestions or tips with this please answer this question it will be gladly appreciated. Is their anyway to stop the imac from getting overheated so easily?

The fan is speeding up to cool the GPU. The GPU (graphic's chip) heats up because video's and game's work the GPU much harder than normal desktop activities.
When was the last time you checked and cleaned the air intake grill on the bottom of your iMac?
I shutdown (stopping the fans), disconnect the power and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work on my Mac's a couple of times a year to keep them running cool.

  • E Mac too old to watch Video streaming from web?

Hi good folks of Apple world. I am having an 'issue' with my eMac 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 with 1 GB DDR SRAM. Mac OS X Version 10.4.11.
Apart from a problem with the logic board (fixed under extended warranty) this has been an amazingly reliable machine. My problem now is video related, I cannot watch video streaming on the web, The feed is jerky and broken. In the UK my family watch the BBC i Player a lot. Something happened a few months ago after a security update, because before that I could watch the i Player, now we cannot. The same thing happens when trying to watch music video etc. I use Safari and Firefox, for a while we could almost watch video using Firefox, but now it's as bad as Safari.
Is it just that my Mac is too old? I heard that the BBC were not 'supporting' Apple product?
When watching video feed from the web at work, on a PC everything works fine?
Love to hear any informed comment?
    Regards, Alister

There's a variety of reasons for this problem...
Flash - Flash is bad. One possible solution is to downgrade to v9 of Flash, as it seems to run better on these machines.
Speed - yeah, the CPU isn't real current, so it's probably a bit of a factor - but in reality - I can watch any AVI/MOV etc, without a problem. Its only when I try to watch HD content that my eMac struggles. So, I really don't think the CPU/computer as such is to blame.
Websites - YouTube for example, is rotten for making their site full of crap that your eMac is having to deal with as well as play the video you are trying to watch. Stuff like telling you how to buy the song that's playing in the video... or other advertising crap etc. That all doesn't help.
BBC - I'm not familiar with the BBC's iView software/website, but for one thing, I'd be writing back and formally lodging a complaint that they don't support Apple Mac. That's poor.
One option, painful though, is to use Safari to load the video page, then look in the Activity Log to find the video file, double click it, and download it direct to your computer. Then watch it that way using something like "VLC".

  • Can't watch video and play games that require flash player

I'm using windows7 family premium version
internet explorer 10 last version 10.0.5
    exploitation system 64 bytes
flash player verson 11..700.202 the latest one
So as i say can't watch video and play games that require flash player, they keep asking me to install flashplayer... i did everything i read in the forums, unistall it, clean the memory, reinstall it, disabe active x etc... but still have the problem.
More specific about my problem is that: let's say that i'm trying to look at you tutorial video under thi forum  Re: How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player? i'm just seeing a black screen.  So I'm able to guess where is the play button so when i push on that place, i can hear the sound of that video.  Second step guessing where is the  enlarge  button, and when the screen is enlarged, magic i can see and hear the video.... So you figure that it's impossible to use my computer like that and guess right all the time, so....
Second fact, it seems that bug happened after an update (windows or explorer) and i even talk with a microsott tech who was not able to resolve it... But if i'm  undoning  the update and go back to a prior image, i have no problems with flash player anymore... it' been moths that i'm delaying my updates cause i cannot find any solutions.... So Please please please, help me .... don't know what's the problem is and i'm not a pro, don't know what to do.  (Excuse my english it's my second language)
    Thank you

The first thing I'd try is updating your video driver.
Windows: how do I update the device driver for my video/display adapter?
If you still have problems and since you're using Windows 7 x64, please check to see if you have the following Windows update installed:
    KB2670838 – Platform Update for Windows 7 x64
If so, please uninstall it and try Flash Player out again.
