Hi I have a asus p5k-vm motherboard with intel 3100 onboad graphics accelerator. I had a gtx 570 video card install and was using itunes
to watch video and tv shows. I sold my gtx 570 and I am using intel x3100 onboard graphics accelerator as my video card. Everything works
fine until I try to watch video or tv shows in itunes. When it tries to start, the screen starts and then right awat it stop and shuts down becuse of some error. I don't know what the problem is.
    Please help.

Since updating to 5.0 numerous people have had an issue with optical out. . Try Restart your ATV & computer. Also cycle the power on the ATV and TV (unplug it for 30sec). You should also submit a bug report directly to Apple since they DO NOT read these forums

  • Watched Video Podcasts Not Showing As Watched

    Hi,
Video Podcasts that I've definitely watched from beginning to end on my iPod Touch are not showing up in iTunes as being watched. I know this for sure because I have a smart playlist in iTunes called "Unwatched Podcasts" which basically lists all the video podcasts that have a play count of 0. Why is my iPod Touch not incrementing the play count by one when I watch these podcasts?

Actually, they are. I don't know if it only works if you play the video podcasts with the iPod Touch docked, but if I let the video podcasts run all the way to the end, automatically returning me to the Videos menu, then yeah the play count goes up and when I sync those podcasts are removed from my Unwatched Podcasts playlist. Good stuff.

  • When I watch a video of TV show online, whenever an ad comes, the video stops and a message appears: "The video you have requested is ... being blocked by an ad blocker installed in your browser." How can I resolve?

I had been having no problem watching videos online of recent TV shows. Now the video stops every time it comes to the built-in ads. Has an update of Firefox installed an ad blocker that's making it impossible for me to watch TV videos (of recent TV shows at the network websites) without getting stopped every time an ad comes on. If I jump ahead to a point AFTER the ads, then sometimes, it WILL play the ads so the ads aren't blocked "after the fact".

  • I bought an HDTV cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my Sony TV via HDMI so I could watch videos from my computer on my TV.  My TV then shows my basic computer background but the videos won't play.  What am I doing wrong?

I bought an HDTV cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my Sony TV via HDML.  The TV recognizes my computer; I see my basic computer screen on the TV. I tried to watch videos on my TV but got nothing. (tried via my facebook vidoes and Youtube.  What am I doing wrong?

I've got a similar (but different!) problem: I have a MacBookPro3,1 running Mac OS X 10.6.8. I want to connect to my HD TV using a HDMI to DVI cable but the MBP cannot detect the TV display. What's the solution? Is this a bug in Mac OS X 10.6.8 ? Any ideas what I can do to make things work with the HDMI to DVI cable. (N.B.: I have separate audio cable running from the MBP to amplified speakers for the sound side of things. It’s the video that’s the problem!)

  • Can't have more than one application watch videos at the same time

The title isn't entirely accurate. I will write all my observations here.
I believe I started to notice these problems since the (recent) X11 update which seems to have happened in July. The subsequent Mesa updates may be related. These updates also caused X11 to crash sometimes, this issue got resolved after a patch update though, it seems.
Before I share my issues I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor (which includes the integrated GPU), using the Linux BFS 3.16.6-2-x86_64 kernel (plan to upgrade tomorrow morning while the internet is quick) and the packages listed in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_Graphics.
The most reproducible version of this problem I've had has to do with Chromium, VLC/MPlayer/MPV and to an extent Firefox.
To reproduce all I have to do is have Chromium open and watch some video on YouTube (HTML5 as I do not have version with Flash included). Then I open a video in VLC/MPlayer/MPV and one of two things can happen:
It can work on VLC, but then if I go back to the HTML5 video when I press play it tells me it has crashed and I should reload the tab.
VLC simply does not work and it plays the audio but no video, sometimes not even the audio.
This is VLC's output in a case where nor the audio or video work (and the HTML5 crashed as well):
    https://imgur.com/J897mMG,17xu7ip (album of 2 scrots)
I had to close VLC for the HTML5 to work, and if you're curious, yes I am listening to Weird Al as I write this. Most of the time I have to reset X11 (or even reboot) to be able to watch videos or listen to audio with VLC again. I have noticed that sometimes if I haven't watched a video for a long time VLC works again (or at least the audio does, sometimes the video).
OK so that's with video apps. This may be unrelated but I think it's worth mentioning here. With Firefox I run into an issue where Flash gets super glitchy, it gets stuck in one glitchy frame or it flashes between two glitchy frames, sometimes it shows the video in the background with the glitchy frames on top still flashing (so I get glimpses of the video), and other glitches.
Some of the ways I fix it are to reload the tab, open a new Firefox window and open the video there, reset Firefox, close Chromium's video tabs, amongst others. None of these work 100% of the time. Sometimes none of them work.
That is all that I can think of. I've been doing a couple of weeks of tests and normal usage in order to acquire this report so it'd be cool if there's a solution.
Thanks! If there are any questions or further information you need, feel free to ask.

    @kalos
Uninstalled everything PA, also uninstalled mangler which was the only thing that depended on PA. It didn't work anyway.
No pulseaudio --kill command so I couldn't run.
Checked systemd journal and there is no mention of PA this time.
Checked top, and grepped ps aux and there is no PA there either.
I also rebooted the machine completely just to make sure. However VLC and HTML5 have the same incompatibilities.

I see. That's too bad. At least we're not alone.

  • Why can't I see streamed video from PC to IPad 1 on TV when using HDMI adapter but can watch videos stored on the iPad

I can watch videos streamed from my PC to my IPad 1 on the iPad screen.

I cannot watch videos streamed  from my PC to my Ipad on my TV using the HDMI adapter, I get sound but no picture although the picture shows on the Ipad screen.
Can anyone tell me why this should be and whether there is a solution?

  • Kernel Panic when watching videos (and other random times)?

    Hi all,
I've been having a lot of trouble with kernel panics and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction for fixing this. I'm aware of the Airport issue mentioned on these forums (and have tried the kext fix for that without any luck).  I have KPs when watching 4+ minute long videos on Youtube (have no issue using iMovie for longer videos or watching videos from my own harddrive), sometimes when the screensaver is on or shortly after the computer goes unidle, and sometimes for no apparent reason. I've already had 2-3 KPs in the past 4 hours. This is my first Mac and not at all what I was expecting.
Sometimes the screen will flicker rapidly, other times I will get a black screen, pink screen, or the screen will "glitch" and move halfway to the left (right is now on the left and left on the right). I can sometimes delay the crash if I pause the video (the screen starts to twitch or have "lightning" flashes across parts of it) but it will eventually crash anyway.
I usually use Firefox but have had the same crash in Safari so it's not browser-related as far as I can tell.
Things I have tried (none helped):
Rebooting in safe mode to scan and repair file directories
    Resetting the PRAM
    Deleting application preferences
    Checked and repaired permissions
    Checked and repaired hard drive
Calling tech support, which had me do all the above again and unselect the "put hard discs to sleep" option
    Reinstalled Lion
Replaced the Kext for the Airport Driver (https://discussions.apple.com/message/15780717#15780717)
Things I can't do (currently) to fix this:
Connect directly to the Internet via an Ethernet cable (the Internet portal is wi-fi only).
I would be happy to downgrade (except if more stable it'd be more of a upgrade at this point ) to Snow Leopard if that is an option, but am not sure how to go about doing that (I don't have a disc for it). Happy to supply any further information needed...
The latest KP (I don't really understand how to read these yet to determine the cause of the crash) -

Update... uninstalled Parallels and restarted the system. Got through one video (approximately 5 minutes) that had crashed the system earlier, and about 1.5 minutes into another before it crashed and had to be shut down by hand. Restarted and it crashed again before it had even generated an error report. I shut down by hand again and restarted, and received this error report. Really frustrating. Since SyncMate shows up in both I'll try uninstalling that (haven't used it yet anyway).

  • How can I delete the list of watched videos on my iPad?

I have been watching videos on my ipad through the iTunes "home sharing" feature. It seems to work fine.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to delete the list (on the iPad) of videos that have been watched. Not only have I watched them but I have also deleted them from my iTunes movies list. I have tried syncing, signing out and back in to the iTunes store, turning off home sharing and then turning it back on again (which requires signing back in), all the while quitting out of the videos app and /or restarting the iPad before and after each of these steps.
The videos are shown as greyed-out icon/thumbnails in the iPad videos app. I am able to add new videos to iTunes, see them as not-greyed-out icons in the iPad app, and watch them. I just can't delete the shown list of the watched videos list on the iPad, which in the case of TV shows collect quite quickly and require lots of scrolling to get to the unwatched video icons.
    Thanks for your help!

    Yes, so...
I have also closed iTunes, reset network settings on the iPad, then shut down and restarted the iPad. Still, I end up with greyed out rectangular icons for all the movies I've ever streamed from my Mac Mini to my ipad via my home wireless router.
Again, I have watched all the way to the end of the movie, selcted the movie in iTunes and chosen "mark as watched", and then deleted it in ITunes.
    Any ideas?

  • Can watching videos too often on Macbook Pro "wear down" the screen?

I watch most of my TV shows on my new macbook pro, and my mother just informed me that if you watch videos too often on a mac, that the screen can apparently wear down and die. Is this true? I'm not sure exactly what she meant by that or what could happen to my computer, but it doesn's sound exactly correct. Thanks!

Back in "the old days" when we all had green letters on black screens like in "War Games" (Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy) there were problems with "burn in" which was caused by the fact that only certain parts of the screen got used because the displays were text only. This is kind of like a prehistoric version of the problem with early plasma displays. Efforts to save CRT screens led to the creation of the ever-popular "Screen saver."
Most moms don't track display technology, so the notion remains that all video monitors are just shinier versions of last century's 15"/50 lb. wonders. Not so. Today's monitors will wear out, but most will be killed by their users long before that. Modern monitors CAN go off in color, loose brilliance, etc. over time  but not specifically from movies.  Notice I said movies, not video. The way we use computers these days, pretty much everything is video.
    Keep calm and surf on.

  • Can you lock touch screen when watching videos!??

Can you lock the screen so it doesn't become a touch screen when watching videos!??
Just got new ipod (7th gen) and this driving me crazy that I think I'm going to continue to use my older one unless there is a solution out there. I watch tv shows while commuting and while walking here or there I have to 'palm' the ipod or walk with it at my side, and the problem is that since the touch screen is sooooo sensitive I keep fwding/rewinding/swiping the screen to something else, and then to get back to that part in the video is a pain because unlike the older ipod you can just fwd a few secs, this one jumps minutes because it's so sensitive. PLEASE tell me there's a way to lock it from accidently touching it!

No - there is no such switch on the iPad - the switches control volume, muting, screen rotation, and the home button itself.
You could place it behind a screen of some sort so touching the outer screen won't affect the iPad screen - I've seen ads for 'presentation kiosk' type devices for the iPad that allow this, although I'm not sure how practical they would be in the backseat of a car.

  • Should I be able to charge my battery when watching video/playing music on my computer?

I recently have been having trouble with my macbook pro, says it's an 8.1 using OS X version 10.6.8.
The other day, it would not charge unless I shut the cover for the computer. Took it to an authorized Apple repair place and they gave it a quick look, said everything looks as though it's running normally. They reset some power battery thing (I'm not a technical person, obviously) and then it was charging in the store when the cover was open. Fine.
I bring it home, try charging it and it does show it's charging, only it says it will take almost 12 hours to get a full charge. And it will stop charging when playing video or music.
It's really upsetting because I would think this is something pretty simple that should work. It's plugged in, has power, it should charge.
    Any suggestions?

It should charge independetely from the fact that it you are watching videos or not (at least mine does), eventhough it might take longer.
Are you sure the charger is ok? Mine started giving me some problems and it would charge some times and others it didn't. Therefore I thought it was the computer and not the charger (usually they just burn and death is a quick, not a process). Turns out it was some contact thing. I am sure that you established the right connection to the video watching, but maybe you just seat more confortable in the sofa and the contact is lower...?
Also, people at the apple store did not encourage me at all to buy a more powerful charger. They said it is best to use the same power it came with...

  • My watched and downloaded tv shows still appear on my iPad, not on my computer.  how do i delete them from the iPad.  They don't take up storage, but the titles are there and they have links to the cloud

How can I delete watched and unwanted TV shows from my ipad.  They don't show on my mac, they don't show up in the useage tab.  But when I click on videos, the tv shows show up with links to the cloud.  How can I delete?

The question is not only how to to hide them, but also how to mark them as watched!
