Watching vidoes on websites

When I try to watch videos on websites, it tells me that I have to install a flash player. But when I try to download it Safari tells me I cant download it. Any suggestions? Thank You!

Welcome to the forums.
You cannot watch flash videos in Safari currently. Perhaps in a few months (after the SDK is released) we may have some browsers that are capable of it.
In the meantime if there are flash videos you want to play on your iPhone you can convert them on your computer to MPEG4 and save them as any other video.

    like I said before,
is there any way to watch vidoes not avaible in your country on youtube using an addon?

    What do you mean nothing.
If it shows $0.00 then that's nothing, that's zero. If it shows truely nothing then you are not logging in with an account that had store credit. Or not logging in at all.
Click on your name so the triangle appears, then click on Account for more details.

  • Watching videos from websites or email

Is there any way to download and watch videos from websites or email on the iPhone? When I click the link it says Safari cannot download the file. Just wondering if there is an update or application I can download.
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith.

Not currently, the videos you're trying to watch are most likely flash and the safari browser for the iPhone just doesn't support it.... Its possible that its not flash and the video just happens to be a codec that the phone doesn't recognize. But so far, the only video from websites that ever worked on the iPhone we're quicktime videos. Lol no surprise there.
    Anyways, I hope I've helped.
    Take care!

  • Really impossible to watch shows on websites?

Lots of websites (networks like cbs.com, hulu.com if not using Hulu Plus, etc.) allow you to watch full-content episodes of recent TV shows, streamed to the browser.  I know the iPad doesn't do Flash, but I still feel like I must be missing something - surely a device this popular has some way of consuming this content?!?  Am I missing the right app or some other trick, or are iPad users really barred from this content?

Not saying there is everything under the sun, but there are many choices for TV shows. All in the App Store

  • I am unable to load video to watch on ANY website.

When on the websites, youtube, hulu, vimeo and other various entertainment and educational sites, video will never load or will continually crash. I can only SOMETIMES watch while constantly refreshing the page.

I assume these sites use Flash.

  • Screen dimming & going to sleep when watching videos from websites

when clicking on a video from websites or from news readers (eg. Focus or Stern) this doesn’t prevent TP to dim the screen and even go to stand-by/sleep after the time set in the TP configuration. So you have to touch every now and then in order to keep it running.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

yeah noticed this last night when being v lazy and watching a load of stuff in bed, kept having to tap the screen which would inadvertantly click some element of the app or webpage that launched the vid, could do with the dimmer not kicking in when video of any sort is being played.

  • To understand the relationship of fps vs motion blur vs velocity, watch this interactive website

by random I stumbled into this website - and it's simply genius:
    http://frames-per-second.appspot.com
we often discuss here aspects of quality, jittery movies, stuttering playback etc etc.
aside hardware factors (slow harddrives), there are some simple rules of cinematography you have to respect.
this website now allows you to interactively play with settings - the 'speed', correctly velocity of an object, its blur and the frame-rate. depending of setting, motion is smooth or stuttering ....
I'm breathless by the beauty of simplicity to explain these limiting factors in such a sturdy way ..
pros will yawn, but for us hobbyists it should create a sort of internal Heureka!

kids, used to 100fps pans and zooms in their first-person-shooters feel quite comfortable with the smoothness, whereas me, the grumpy ol' man, had this '80ies-soap-look' feeling .......

  • Mirroring (Mac Pro to TV) Watching videos from websites looks terrible

Hello! We are trying to use Apple TV to cut out cable, which is easier said than done at this point! One thing we are trying to do is watch content from CBS.com or Hulu.com (show that can only be streamed on a computer) on our TV through mirroring. For one thing the image looks terrible. It was very pixilated, delayed, and stuttery. We are hitting about a 15 Mbps download speed. We are considering returning the system if this doesn't work. Does anyone know any way to make it look better?
    THANKS!

Got some links to the external videio card ?
Last one i saw was 100% diy and only worked partial under windows and not under osx at all

  • *HELP*  I'm having troubeling watching vidoes on my new iPod *HELP*

I'd just bought myself an iPod 30 GB yesterday, and of course I want to watch some videos on it.
I downloaded a video podcast from the Apple iTunes store, but my iPod has trouble reading it.
I transfered it easily to my iPod, but when I'm trying to play it the problem comes.
I can play the video for about 2 seconds and then flicker on the screen, and an annoying screeching noise come.
It happens to all my videos on my iPod.
And the other weird thing is that if I run the video and then spool foward and backwards all the time, the flicker and screecing doesen't come, but then if i stop spool, the flicker and screecing comes once again.
I really hope you guys can help me, because I'm desperate.

Jeez, your posting in the middle of the night (for me anyway) and you're ****** because noone jumped in?
Before you try anthing else, can you download a different video podcast, from a completely different source, and play it successfully? If yes, the problem is with the source file, if no, you may need to have your iPod serviced. But before you do, try Restoring it.

  • Yesterday for the first time that I can remember that I ran into massive lags on a 720p video I was watching on a website, was my Macbook overheating?

I'd owned my Macbook for about a year and it's a Macbook 2009 mid model 2.13ghz and I ran into a weird bug yesterday. I had Xat chatroom open which is a flash chatroom and Cinemassacre Angry Video Game Nerd video open yesterday and I heard my fan running loud and non-stop. While I was watching the video the video was showing up like still images instead of in motion. Does that mean my Macbook was overheating if it was turning Video Motion into still images? I shut down my Macbook and started it back up. I hope its not linked to my ssd harddrive. Also, this is the first time I think I ran into this bug. When I'm laying in bed I have my Macbook resting on a dresser desk like a flat piece of wood because I think thats better for ventilation than it would be to just laying on my bed. I might have had my Macbook on for 5-7 hours with nosleep(a program to stop the macbook from sleeping) on. Could that have caused some problems?

Always make sure the ventialation slots are never covered otherwise it can overheat.

Your iPod is in recovery mode. You'll need to restore the iPod through iTunes on your computer.

  • When streaming a movie file, what setting do I use on firefox so that I can watch the same website movie later in the day without downloading it again? thanks.

I'm not sure if it has something to do with a download setting or adjusting the size of the cache?

Media files that are streamed are never saved on your computer.<br />
Flash video (.flv) files are played by a SWF video player that downloads the FLV file.

They look like Windows Video to me - the second site, at least, works with Flip4Mac (free plugin). I couldn't get the first one working either. It may be a newer version of the WMV specification than Flip4Mac will support.
