Water Damage iPhone won't turn on so I can reset to send out

I had a 3G and it got wet one night sitting next to a leaky bottle. Now the charger connector at the bottom doesn't register and the battery died. I am interested in sending it out to one of those websites that pays for dead iPhones but I don't want to send it with all of my still on there. Is there anyone who has been through this before and has any solution? Thanks!

Unless you can turn the phone on, there is no way to wipe it.

My iPad won't turn off so I can reset it.  My emails are locked but I receive emails as the number of emails increases.  I can't access these emails, I can't delete the one email showing, and I can't send an email.  The screen is locked.

    Try a reset:
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together)
    2. For about 10 seconds
    3. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)
    4. Ignore the red slider

  • My iphone won't turn off. What can I do?

when i try to get my text, the screen is blank. \ i tried to turn off my iphone and start it again to see if that would help, and it won't turn off. is there a way to turn it off other than holding the button on top down?

Do a reset, hold down the home and power button for a couple seconds until you see the apple logo.

  • If I send in my water damaged iPhone 5 to apple to be replaced, can i ask to get the color swapped?

I know the cost of Out Of Warranty for the iPhone 5 is $269. Right now I have the iPhone 5 Silver/White and I was wondering when I get my phone replaced at apple, is it possible for them to just switch the color? If I pay a little extra or just simply request the black iPhone 5, will I be able to achieve that?

You can ask, but do not expect to get what you want. Out of Warranty replacements
are the same model, same color, same capacity, and locked/unlocked status is as
when the iPhone was originally sold.
Put a cover on it. Or sell the replacement and buy the color you want.
    tl;dr No.

  • Is there any way to retrieve photos and videos from my water damaged iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 appears to be water damaged and won't turn on. At this point, I'm ready to give up on the phone but I'd like to retrieve data from the phone if possible - especially photos and videos. Is there any way to do this? I have seen suggestions to take it to the Apple Store, but with the nearest one just over an hour away, I would be very disappointed to drive all that way just to be told there's nothing they can do.

Thanks, John. I should have specified - no  iCloud back up. I would have maxed it out with the first backup, so I didn't do it. I back up to my computer, but hadn't done that in about a month. Big lesson learned here. I have a new phone and am setting up iCloud!! I'm trying to allow all my family's devices to back up to the same iCloud - that's the new challenge

  • If I take my water damaged iPhone 4 into an apple store, will they be able to retrieve my pictures, video and contacts from it?? It currently won't turn on, wondering if there is a way for them to turn it on to do that?

No, they won't. If the phone won't turn on at all, the only way to even attempt to get information off the flash drive would be to turn the whole thing over to one of those data recovery firms like DriveSaver. You're looking at a couple of thousand dollars, at least.

There is nothing saved on the SIm card in an iphone.  If you have a backup of the old phone restore that to the new phone

  • I need to get photos off a water damaged iPhone 3GS. Can I take out the component that has the photos (is this the main board?) and put it into another of the same phone to retrieve the photos? Please help

I need to get photos off a water damaged iPhone 3GS. It spent time underwater, saltwater. I let it dry for a week, turned it on, the apple symbol came on, then it died. I need to retrieve my photos off it. Can I take out the component that has the photos (is this the main board?) and put it into another of the same phone to retrieve the photos? Please help

You're talking about the logic board. The two most likely things to get toasted, with water damage, are the battery(it shorts out), & the logic board. The worst water damage would be salt water. I'm afraid your logic board is toast.

  • How much does it usually cost to fix water damaged iphone?

Will Apple be able to fix my water damaged iPhone and how much will it cost? The screen is black and won't come back on. It's only 1 month old and I hate to ditch it and get a refurbished one through insurance claim. I'm not sure if I'm asking this question in the right forum, though! Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your quick answer! So they won't fix the one I have for sure? I will get a refurbished phone?

  • Water damaged iPhone - how to delete iCloud?

Hello, my iPhone has been water damaged and will not turn on. I'm looking to sell it to a phone recycling company, but they all need iCloud to be removed before they will accept it. Does anyone know how I go about deleting icloud when I can't turn it on? I saw on another discussion on here that someone had suggested using the erase all data function through find my iPhone - the problem with this is that it will not delete the data until the phone is connected to the internet, which of course I am unable to do! Can anyone suggest how to delete icloud? Thanks in advance.

Did you read the post? It said nothing about Activation Lock. He/She wanted the iCloud account removed from the iPhone
but they all need iCloud to be removed before they will accept it. Does anyone know how I go about deleting icloud when I can't turn it on?

  • Can my water damaged iPhone still be replaced under warranty if it had a problem before the water damage?

My iPhone 5 is still under a year old and it fell in the toilet for a few seconds about 3 days ago.
I know the apple warranty doesn't cover water damage. The liquid damage indicator in the SIM slot hasn't turned red.
Around March this year I noticed that some faint spots appeared in my photos taken by the rear camera and I've read that this type of damage could get you an instant replacement of your iPhone, I just never got around to taking it to the apple store. I have those photos saved so I can prove that this problem happened a while ago.
I've had my now water damaged iPhone in a rice bag for three days, however I have been charging it a little to turn it on every so often to check on it. It seems to be getting better, but the screen is still "fuzzy" and the touch is a bit "jumpy" and not as responsive as before. So I'm worried I might have damaged the screen or motherboard or something and I don't know what to do?
If I go into the apple store and tell them about the camera problem from before would they give me a new iPhone? or will they not accept it because of the water damage?
I really can't afford a new iPhone or a refurbished one even, so what's the best thing to do?
    thanks in advance.

No.  Your warranty is void due to the water damage
You can buy a replacement for $229

  • Iphone won't turn on - how to erase the data?

my iphone has been water damaged and will not turn on at all. How can I erase the data before I sell it on ebay?

Try putting it in a bag of rice with the bag open and in a warm area for a few days (I used the top of a lamp shade for my old PDA - worked well). It might come back on after drying out.
You could also microwave it but that would reduce its Ebay value just slightly!
