Water Damaged Keybord circuit only, can i replace it? 8900 no warranty :(

Hi, I was splashed with water and my 8900 got wet while inside of the rubber cover, which traped the water.
I let it dry for 4 days desassembled, when I turned it back on, operating systems works fine but the enter key is the only thing that works on the keyboard..... all others including the track ball are fried.
Is there a way I can replace the keybord circuit portion? I am not an eletronics engineer.
My other option is to cancel my plan with T-mobile as I refuse to extend by 2 years my plan, as a principle, to get 100 dollars off a new phone that is not even 1/2 as good as this one.
Besides the coverage in my area sucks.
I looked online for refurbished one and they are around 300 dollars, I am looking to find out if the keyboard circuit can be fixed for a fraction of that, and fast.

You can try
http://www.bbrepairshop.com/
But if leaving T mobile, Many carriers have been offering sweet deals this month.

  • Im syncing my iphone to itunes because i cant unlock the phone due to water damage so that i can take what is on it and put it on a new phone. how can i ensure that everything was taken from the phone and where can i find it in itunes?

my phone recently suffered water damage so that the screen does not reigster when i slide to unlock. I am sycing the data from the phone onto itunes so i can put it onto a new phone. How can i ensure that i took everything off of the old phone before i restore it and where can i find all of that stuff when i sync with the new phone?

iTunes will only store a back up of the iPhone and you find this by following the steps below:
    Windows
    Edit>Preferences>Devices
    Mac
    iTunes>Preferences>Devices
The link below can show you what is stored in an iTunes back up:

  • I need to get photos off a water damaged iPhone 3GS. Can I take out the component that has the photos (is this the main board?) and put it into another of the same phone to retrieve the photos? Please help

I need to get photos off a water damaged iPhone 3GS. It spent time underwater, saltwater. I let it dry for a week, turned it on, the apple symbol came on, then it died. I need to retrieve my photos off it. Can I take out the component that has the photos (is this the main board?) and put it into another of the same phone to retrieve the photos? Please help

You're talking about the logic board. The two most likely things to get toasted, with water damage, are the battery(it shorts out), & the logic board. The worst water damage would be salt water. I'm afraid your logic board is toast.

  • Water damage on iPhone? Can it be saved?

I left my iphone in my bathroom near the shower by a window and I discovered that there was water on the inside of the screen, and then the screen didn't respond to my touch for a little bit and then it eventually did..and there was still water on the inside of the screen but i was sort of in a rush to call someone, and it had 3% remaining and i plugged it in a wall charger. It worked fine with the charger for about 15 minutes, and then the screen suddenly turned black and it turned itself off. I panicked and then tried turning it back on again but then it just showed the apple logo and turned itself off and wont come back on again. What damage have I done to my phone? Did I fry the logic board or something? I'm really hoping it could still be revived.
I've since submerged the phone in a bag of rice. But I'm hoping that I didn't completely fry it. I now realize that i act very stupidly and carelessly in dire situations haha.
    Please help!

Now that i think about it, do you think that it's just the screen itself that's messed up?
Because my phone wasn't completely submerged in water, it was in a steamy bathroom and there was just water markings underneath the screen that made the touchscreen unresponsive for a while.
But then I charged it. Which could have heated and fried the inside entirely.
    I really don't know how.
But thank you for the answers!

  • Can I replace poor battery under warranty conditions?

    Hi there
I bought my Toshiba laptop about 6 months ago and my pc health monitor is already saying I have poor battery health. I always have my laptop on the eco mode and I only charge it till it is fully charged and I unplug it straight away.
Are there any other reasons why I might have poor battery health? And is a replacement battery covered under the warranty?
    Thanks

How long your notebook works on battery power supply?
Just dont be confused by pc health monitor utility.
    >... I only charge it till it is fully charged and I unplug it straight away.
Why are you doing this? If you use your notebook at home on your working desk connect it to AC power supply, use balanced power plan and dont be afraid about battery.

  • Can my water damaged iPhone still be replaced under warranty if it had a problem before the water damage?

My iPhone 5 is still under a year old and it fell in the toilet for a few seconds about 3 days ago.
I know the apple warranty doesn't cover water damage. The liquid damage indicator in the SIM slot hasn't turned red.
Around March this year I noticed that some faint spots appeared in my photos taken by the rear camera and I've read that this type of damage could get you an instant replacement of your iPhone, I just never got around to taking it to the apple store. I have those photos saved so I can prove that this problem happened a while ago.
I've had my now water damaged iPhone in a rice bag for three days, however I have been charging it a little to turn it on every so often to check on it. It seems to be getting better, but the screen is still "fuzzy" and the touch is a bit "jumpy" and not as responsive as before. So I'm worried I might have damaged the screen or motherboard or something and I don't know what to do?
If I go into the apple store and tell them about the camera problem from before would they give me a new iPhone? or will they not accept it because of the water damage?
I really can't afford a new iPhone or a refurbished one even, so what's the best thing to do?
    thanks in advance.

No.  Your warranty is void due to the water damage
You can buy a replacement for $229

  • TS4148 Can water damage to an iPhone be fixed?

My iPhone I think has water damage to it . Can it easily be fixed?

Not really. If drying out in dry white uncook rice for a week doesn't do it, an exchange at Apple is about the only recourse to water damage. Of course, Apple will charge you for that.

  • Iphone water damage without coming in contact with water or moisture

Hello, I am long time apple fan/user. I bought an iphone 3 months ago. I really love this phone. I took very good care of the phone carrying it around like a baby making sure nothing happened to it. I upgraded to 3.0 and then a day later I upgraded to the new version of facebook. The update was taking a long time to load so I decided to cut the phone off and restart it. Once I cut the phone off, it would only come on and show the apple logo and cut back off. I took the phone to my local apple store. The guy at the store took the phone in back and return saying, the phone had water damage and the only option I had was to purchase a new phone.
At no time have I dropped this phone in water, left in bathroom during a shower, carried in my pocket (I have case for belt), left in extreme temperatures, transport from cold/cool climate to hot, etc. How is it that I have water damage?
After posting this dilemma on FB, I received several responses saying they had the same diagnosis for their iphone. Is there something that can be done to better equip these phones for the elements? Can a plastic cover be design to cover the port for the charger and insides ( like other phones have that snap into port)? Please give feedback. Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks,

Well I have a short story to tell. I had the exact problem with my 3G. I tried to download the latest 3.0 update and it did the Sync just fine but when it went to download the update the phone froze up and also locked up the computer. We tried to RESTORE the phone but all I ever got was a USB indicator and an iTunes logo on the screen. Finally I called Apple Support and they said to send in the phone or take it to an Apple Store to get it Restored. I choose to take it 40 miles to the Store and immediately they got out their little magnifier and looked in the ports and told me that the phone had been dropped in water---This phone has never been wet ! ---We asked for the manager and he had the same lame story that we had ruined the phone by getting it wet and the phone needed replaced but not under warranty as the warranty did not cover water damage. When I informed him that it was not water damaged and the problem occurred during a program update he basically called me a lier and said everybody tells them the same story. I asked the manager to at least try to reset the phone as I felt there was no water damage and he refused as he said it would ruin their computer. We called Apple support again and spent 2 hours on the phone as she had me remove and re-install iTunes and other settings to no avail and she told me to take the phone to an Apple store. A couple days later my girlfriend took the phone to an Apple store and sweet talked the Genius into RESTORING the phone without looking at the moisture indicators [both were pink] The phone restored perfectly and she was out the door in 15 minutes with a perfect working phone. We now are on record that we have an operational phone regardless of what color the moisture indicators are. This phone was a replacement for the original new one as it crapped out early after purchase and it probably had pink indicators when we got it. This is a great marketing scheme on Apples part to get current customers to purchase new phones and then use these same [faulty]phones for replacements for under warranty phones. This issue is rampid on the web it would behoove Apple to change their policy. At least they should install the indicators in a place that a sweat droplet will not trigger the indicators like other phones where they are in the battery compartment. I wasted way too much time on this issue and have placed an edict at my company not to purchase iphones anymore. i love the phone but do not have to live with Apples policy.

  • 4th generation--totally dies, Apple says "water damage"

I've had Shuffle 3rd generation shuffle for forever and never had a problem with it working while i exercise....I run a lot at a time (10+ miles).  I started buying 4th generation shuffle and have had trouble with it once temperatures rise....winter is no problem running with it but now that it's hot, i've run and it dies (totally dead and will not work)....i took it into Apple store and the Genius bar guys shine a flashlight in the charger/earphone hole and says, "there's water damage."  The first one they replaced (2 weeks ago), then i ran the very next day with it, and within a short 3-mile run, this one dies also...i brought it in and they said same thing "water damage" and didn't give me a replacement.  I had to buy a new one.  Litterally, i ran the next day for only 4 miles, and even wrapped it in plastic this time, but at the very end of run, it died totally...dead.
There must be a flaw with this generation shuffle....i still am able to use my 3rd generation (now going on 3-4 years) without a problem while running, but the 4th generation is better with the voiceover and playlist ability but i've now bought 3 and they've all died....ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR SIMILAR ISSUES?????

Don't take offense.  Believe it or not, there are people out there who seem to have nothing better to do than making up and posting fake stories on the Internet.    Pathetic, right...?
Since the indicator indicates water damage, it is probably actually related to moisture.  It had happened only once, I could believe it was a manufacturing defect, but not three times in a row.  It's probably NOT related to heat, because any temperature where running "10+" miles didn't cause heat stroke would not cause a shuffle to fail, only due to heat.
But if you actually "wrapped it in plastic" and the problem still occurred, I don't see that it could be have been moisture.  Also, even in winter when the temperatures are lower, I run the same distances as you, and I still sweat a lot.  So, if moisture was getting into the iPod to cause this problem, it should also have happened during all the months of winter, at least once.  So moisture from sweat causing this problem doesn't make sense either.
If this was a general problem, and the majority of iPod shuffles (three in a row for you) are just failing for no apparent reason, with the indicator showing water damage when there was no water damage, then there would be line going out all the Apple Stores of people returning broken shuffles.  And this forum category would be filled to server overload point with similar posts.
So, I have no answers, and it doesn't make sense...  You should contact Apple directly and talk to Apple customer support.  Use the Contact Us link at the bottom right corner of this web page.

iPhone warranty is only valid in the country of origin.
You could try taking it to an Apple store and see what they offer.

My "4" won't turn on.  It won't charge when connected to a charger or to the computer.  It's never been dropped, or had any water damage.  It looks like its brand new! The warranty ran on on Feb 23rd, help!!!

    Hello Breejumpp,
Try Reset ( No Data will be lost )
Press and Hold the On/Off switch (On top your iPhone) and the Home Button (Button at the bottom of your iPhone screen). Hold both the keys simultaneously for atleast 10 to 15 seconds and you should see an Apple Logo coming up on your screen, once you see the Apple logo you can then release oth On/Off switch and Home button and wait for your iPhone's Home screen.

  • Can i replace my iphone 4 without bill

im in chennai but i bought my phone in australia can i replace it here

No. iPhone warranty is NOT international, Except for EU countries, only valid in country of original purchase. In your case that would be Australia. You will have to physically return the phone to Australia for ALL warranty & service work. You cannot mail it back...Apple does not accept International shipments.

  • If there is significant water damage, is it worth it to pay to get it fixed?

i split wine on my keyboard of my Macbook and it won't even turn on. is it worth it to pay the large amount to get fixed, if fixable, or to just buy a new computer? Does apple do anything for water damage? help.

You can take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked and get an estimate of the cost.
Then you can take a decision.
If the computer is 3 to 4 years old, it is better to buy a new one.
    Best.
