Water in a Zen Micro Ph

One of the family's zen micro photos went through the washing machine. This of course voids the warranty. So . . . what is the suggested method for drying out the interior? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Zen Micro - two more problems...... oye

So last week I received my replacement Zen Micro (the headphone jack was faulty in the old one..... etc etc).
Since the new one arri'ved, I've had two problems:
)There is a constant ringing coming out of the player when it is switched on, like a buzzing noise.....
2)Today while flicking to a track, it crashed like a computer. The screen froze and I couldn't do anything with it, had to remove the battery.
Anyone have any clues wat I should do? Besides going back 4 months and buying an iRi'ver instead.....

I have had it alright with my player after I used clean up and reloaded the firmware, But last night, just got in, Took my player out of my pocket to turn it off. Switched the power button from hold to turn it off. But when I moved the button the player still said it was locked. I moved the button back to locked, and then back again, but still nothing. Once again I had to remove the battery.
Creative make the removable battery a selling point, but in fact its the only way to turn the bloody thing off sometimes. And the only reason I don't send it back is because I will never get a replacement by the time I go on holiday. But once again it seems fine, but I'm just waiting for the next crappy thing to happen.
oh, and I left it on pause today in my pocket, (only for a minute) then when I pressed play on my remote nothing happened. So I checked the player to find that top half of the screen was black and the bottom was white. And guess how you fix it's ....... that's right you have to take the battery out. Its random stuff like this I put I with day to day which I don't think I shouldn't be doing. I know everything has a bug or to in it, but this just getting out of hand. I don't like to go on, and At the start when I go my player I was fine, and I was happy with it. But now only after a week or two, its turned in to a player from hell. Once I'm back in the UK I might have to send it back. The thing is driving me mad.
I don't know, I just feel let down

  • Zen Micro- Indefinitely Froz

[size="2" face="Verdana">I've had my zen micro for about a year, because I got it last Christmas. I've listened to it frequently since I first got it. Just recently, I have come very close to filling up my memory. But I guess I am using too much memory and my zen keeps [color="#6633ff">freezing up. Yes, I've read all of the help tutorials but they talk about [color="#00cc33">recovery mode, formatting,?clean up, and things of that nature. I'd be happy to try those options but I can't even get that far. My player is [color="#6666ff">freezing up on the zen micro logo and I can't even get into any type of menu [color="#ff0000"]at all. I've restarted my player about 20 times now over the course of the past two days. I've tried plugging it into my USB to bring it back to life. No answer. [color="#ff0099">Please help

  • Zen micro photo malfunct

I got a zen micro photo a couple of weeks ago, every thing installed fine, it worked perfect. Then one day I go to plug it in for a charge and get an error message "One of the divices attached to this computer has malfunctiond and windows does not recondnise(spell) it. As soon as i get this error, the zen micro completly freezes. The only way i can turn it off is if i take out the battery. At first i thought this was the player it self, so i went beck and returned it. Got a brand new one and everything. I had all the software installed so i just plugged it in and guess wat... i got the same error! I tried reinstalling everything and starting from scratch, but i keep on getting the same error. I need help guys! I want to get this thing to work and there is no way in heck that im getting an IPOD! Im running win xp sp2 recently i installed a usb 2.0 card (which is plug and play) this was inbetween the time i hadn't charged my zen yet. I tried pluging it back to my old usb ports but i still got the same error. I dont think its the usb card...
i need help plz! I cant charge it because it freezes when i plug it in and my battery is almost dead.

I never encountered this with my MicroPhoto, perhaps one of the devices malfunctioning could be in your computer itself and not the player?

  • Zen Micro Problem, somewhat embarrassing

So here is my issue, in fifteen words or less:
I accidentally dropped my Zen Micro in the toilet.
Now, once you've all stopped laughing hysterically, here is what I did. It was completley submerged for perhaps second, I immediately pulled it out. There was nothing displayed on the screen, although the backlight was on. I removed the battery immediately (which might have damaged it more, sorry). Right now, the player is air-drying on my desk. Understandably, I'm very worried, since neither Creative's warranty nor the Warranty I purchased from Best Buy cover accidental damage caused by moisture. Before I placed my player on the desk, I shook it some to get excess water out of the player. I don't intend to put the battery back in until at least 24-48 hours from now, to make sure the player is dry and I don't accidentally short the battery or permanently damage the player. Is there anything I can do outside of what I've already done?

UPDATE: Well, I dried it out, put in the battery and turned it on. It blinked on and off a couple of times, but now is steady on, even though there is nothing being displayed on the screen. Does that mean that screen (and, to follow, the player) is disabled or otherwise unfixable?
Edit: OK, the player now turns on, gives me the "Creative, copyright 2004" screen, then just a screen that says Creative. I think my HDD might be fried, but I'm not sure.Message Edited by cmercado on 07-06-2005 07:4 PM

  • Zen Micro Problem (music libra

im new to these boards, but i have to say there great lots of info!!! So on to my problem my 4GB Zen Micro works perfect except for one thing, if you start it on cold boot up like if you havent used it in a few hours the Creative Labs screen after the water droplet or whatever you call it. anyways the top left part of the Creative labs logo would be missing like a chunk taken out of it. When this happens it paused for like 3 seconds then boots up fine. So i thought updating my firmware to the newest one (i previously had ..0) So i backed up all my files before i updated into a folder on my computer. After i downloaded the firmware i downloaded all my songs back onto it. This is where the problem starts, after i download songs i always go to Creative Mediasource organizer and organize them so they wont be in all sorts of catagories on the player, like when i first download them. When i transfered the songs back onto the mp3 they where scrambled in catagories. Somehow I was trying to fix it but i accedently deleted all the songs from my player and backup files. So now ill have to download all my songs again and organize them into there catagories which would take hours. Is there anyways you can organize songs quicker? Just beacause when i download songs of limewire sometimes the artist's names arent spelled correctly or wrong genre or incorrect title......stuff like that. so when i download them from my computer to the zen its all scrambled on the player unorganized, which bothers me. Anyway quicker to organize? Sorry for such a long post
    Please help me!!!
    thanks!!!!

This is normal. I get the same problem with ..0, and just put it down to rather inelegant programming.

If you've updated to the v2.xx PlayForSure/MTP firmware, when you copy tracks to the player the PC will view the player as having folders. On the player itself though it will still use tag data.
It's always important to have clean tag data as the player works using this, so find a tagging program that suits you, and put some work into organising them.

  • 2 month new Zen Micro, won't fully charge via

I have the zen micro 5gb and here's what been happening
Up until the last month the micro would charge up just fine. Now, it won't charge past one bar and it does show the charging icon in the upper right hand corner.
My USB connections are USB 2.0 at work and home and it won't fully charge. I ran the battery completely out of juice to try a fresh charge approach. I know the micro is getting power because it will run while plugged into my usb cable.
Oh yeah, recently, after the water drop on the screen, it usually loads the zen micro logo, then rolls right to the now playing screen. Recently, it sticks for about 0 seconds, and the touch pad is inacti've.
Before I deal with taking it back to BestBuy, I figured I'd see if there's anything I can try before.
    Vesrion ..0
    Thanks

Wow, I didn't know i had to have it in locked position for it to charge, b/c the charge indicator was always showing like it was charging, but no pulsing.
You don't have to, but if your USB power is marginal it ensures that ALL the power is dedicated to charge the player.
I just switched it to lock and it is pulsing. When I'm at work I have to use my usb connection to charge and I can't load the driver onto my work machine. If it is not pulsing, is it only just using the usb for power?
It's only using the USB power for the data connection.
What's the deal with the pusling?
It shows the player is charging.
Also, what's the benefit of upgrading the firmware to v2?
See the link "the difference between the Zen Micro v and v2 firmware" in the FAQ post.

You will need the playforsure firmware for vista to recognize the Micro. You will need to update the firmware from a machine with windows XP. Then vista will recognize the your Micro. If your player has the old firmware there is no way to?update it in Vista.?

  • My crative zen micro wont be reconized by Wnidows vi

I've benn like this for 2 weeks lisening to my old 00 MB mp3?I need helpheres the story?{Please help meI reacently bought a new computer windows vista and i hooked up my Creative zen micro and it didnt reconized it so i put it in recover mode and deleted the firmware so i can try to download it agian but they have no firmware for vista so i dont know wat to do i really want to lisen to my music
    :smileyindifferent:
    Plese help
    thanks

I have found two threads that look like they help: this one.
It looks like you need to install the latest firmware on an XP machine first. Perhaps you can find someone with such a machine? Then you just install the drivers provided and if prompted about new hardware point to the creative folder.

  • Tips to save Zen Micro Ba

Hi all, i have notice that by turning ur zen micro on and off regularly drains battery life, tats wat i see frm my personal experience... so even u r away for a while, dun off ur zen micro... maybe juz stop or pause the song.anybody here gt any tips to save battery life, pls post here... thx

don't use .wma format music. don't use 320kbps mp3 files. don't touch your zen micro a lot. have a lower contrast setting, i use 20%. have a lower backlight either 5 seconds or none. leaving your micro on and not touching it will give you the most battery life. turning off your micro also drains the battery which is a known problem that creative has right now.

I don't remember hearing this before.
If you run a disk cleanup manually does it work? To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro. To access the Rescue Mode: remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position and KEEP IT HELD TO "ON" while reinserting the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

  • Zen Micro Stalling on Boot Up after serv

    Hi all,
wee problem for ya. Brought my zen micro in for a service after the infamous headphone socket problem to an electronics service centre I'd been told are pretty good. I even printed out the instructions I found on the boards at http://www.noboundrees.com/micro_fix/. Three and a half weeks and ?35 later, I eventually got the player back but no go on boot up!
All I was getting was the Creative logo and then it just hung. I didn't even get the drop of water animation thing!
Went into recovery mode, tried resetting, formatting, reloading firmware... Everything I could think of but nothing worked.
Eventually brought it back into the service company to try to get them to fix it which, after a few days it looked like they did. They managed to get it into the normal operation menus. According to them, all they did was open it up and close it again! As soon as they gave it back to me though, it stalled when I was trying the radio and from there, back to the logo at boot up problem.
This looks to me like the problem lies with them, they're obviously not agreeing with me yet though! The player was working fine before that!!! Is there anything I can do about this? Can anybody recommend anything that could have gone wrong?
    Thanks for your time,
    Tony

The same thing happened to my Creative. I have tried various methods to remedy the problem, but to no avail. I would reccomend applying for an RMA, to get a new Creative- that's waht I did with mine.

  • Zen micro ha

omg my zen micro hang when at the Creative start up there. this will happen whenever i remove the batt. and if i do a clean up, it will not hang at the creative logo there but hang during the rebuilding library startup. so wat shld i do? change it or wat?

selvaticus wrote:I have the same problem, I try to reset the Zen Micro, to clean up and format it, but for al least 30 min. the sceen doesn't change. What's the prom. time what i need to stay?
This is covered in the FAQ post.
I try to update the new fireware, but now ths Zen Micro doesn't reconigzed but the computer, when it wasn't happend.
If you are having problems with disk cleanup not working the player sounds faulty. You need to contact support.

  • Stuck on "Zen Micro" screen... help

When I turn on my Zen Micro, it shows all the normal screens like "creative" and etc. But after the drop of water screen, it goes to the Zen Micro screen and stays stuck there. I've already tried rebooting and disk cleanup and it still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Have you tried upgrading the firmware or formatting the player?
Note that both option erases all contents on the player.
If both suggestions does not help, it's best to get in touch with support.

  • Zen micro overheat

Every time I turn on my zen micro before it begins to play a song a screen pops up and says overheating, shutting down... The micro is not hot and wasnt on for that long before it happened, anyone have any ideas.

    Hello!
I hope this tip can help the users that may get this "overheating" failure in the future... maybe it's too late to help the ones that get this trouble in the past and perhaps it won't be effecti've to all, since a "overheating" message can be due to several possible reason.
I've been using my 4GB Zen when I'm working out or jogging and yesterday it showed this overheating-related message soon after have booted up, being powered down right after. Reset, long reset, several resets didn't manage to restore normal condition. I've tried to re-update its firmware, expecting that some software bug could be repaired, but my Zen always get off before updating process get through.... and nothing changed...
Considering the situation (I'm in Brazil and there isn't any local authorized service shop; my Zen is not exactly new; my previous measures to try to make it survi've failed) and regarding that my Zen could be malfunction due to moist and/or sweat, a last try might be successful... or my Zen would keep useless.
I've poored inside my Zen some ml of isopropyl alcohol and tried to bath all internal parts, rocking and rolling (sorry!) it. Afterwards, a vigorously shaked my Zen in order do expel the most of the alcohol and let my Zen resting in a upward position, earphone jack hole downward,? for a couple of hours.
When I tried to power it on, BINGO! It returned to life!
I suppose that some residual sweat has really penetrated into Zen case and messed up the overheating circuitry, leading it to alarm a false condition.
Important: never use ethanol for domestic usage (etilic alcohol) since it contains water and it would disturb circuitry, making tha problem worst! This type of alcohol also may react wtith some plastic types and may dissolve some insulating internal substances. Allways try isopropyl alcohol!!!
I hope this procedure may recover your Zen and make it serve you for many years!
    Regards,
    S?rgio
