Water in lens of xperia z1

I've gotten my phone wet and now I have water in the lens of my xperia z1, any ideas how I can get this out as I can no longer use the camera?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
That sounds odd. If all covers is closed/mounted correctly the phone can be kept under 1.50 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP 58. Thereby, no water should get inside the phone.
But if you have water inside your camera lens, I suggest that you contact the nearest service center so a technician can examine your unit. You can contact your local support team for further information about nearest service center and/or how you should proceed in this case:

this are great suggestionshttp://talk.sonymobile.com/message/449062#449062you may think me completely mad but the suggestions I made to you earlier are your best bet, whater will not be attracted by anything unless it is physically touching the water - in order for the water to be physically touching the rice you need to create an air flow to move it, if you don't create an airflow the water or moisture will remain inside the enclosure of the phone case and circuitryIf you agree with the above continue reading - if you don't then just stop here and forget about itTo create an airflow through the inside of the phone from one side or end to the other without opening it is quite difficult1. You need moving air (either blown or sucked)2. you need an entry and exit point that will allow the air to flow and collect the water/moisture and carry it out of the device, heat helps this process as it helps the water to turn to vapourSo I suggested 2x methods of getting an airflow through your phone1 Hair dryer which has the advantage of providing some heat to aid the water evaporate but is difficult to connect to the phone and actually get a flow going2. Vacuum cleaner - the opposite of the above - no heat but has a better chance of getting a good airflow going - you are in a hot climate so this would be my preferred method, up close and even taped to the side of the phone to get a good effect and I mean sealed up taped with maybe a little gapI have worked with hitech electronics all my life, there is very little I don't know - water itself will not damage your phone but powering it on while there is water inside mayA girlfriend of mine spilt a can of coke on my laptop - before I could turn it off it shut down, and would not restart - I dismantled it and removed the motherboard which had obvious stains of sticky brown goo from the coke, I washed it under the tap with luke warm water and fairy liquid then rinced it of with cold water, I then took it to a local tyre place and blew the water off with compressed airthe laptop is still working today 100% and is about 7 years oldIf I'd suggested such a thing to anyone they'd have laughted at me - water is used in pcb manufacture anyway airflow is your friend in this case the more the merryer - and for as long as you canthen do an update repair and see how that goesit can't mak it any worseDon't forget to mark the Correct Answers & Helpful Answers

    Dear Sir,
    The water proof guarantee
    Sony Xperia Z2 (D6503) Serial number BH90VQLR16
I'm a student of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. I had been dreaming a long time of becoming a proud owner of  a above phone. I asked my parents  for a phone, they refused my request as  it was not affordable for them due to their poor income. But I didn't want to give up my dream, again and again I begged, although the  reply was same. I didn't want to give up my dream. I was  insisting my request, ultimately they  were agreed to gift me a phone if I would pass my GCE A/L examination and qualify to enter the university.
I did my studies even harder . Due to my hard effort I could got through the Advanced  Level Examination in 2014 and Qualified the university entrance.
To fulfil their promise my parents gifted me the phone paying LKRs 53,000 (USD 398.45) which amount was not a small sum at all for my humble parents ( a copy of the bill I include here)
At last I was fortunate to own my dream phone. How I delighted to see myself  that my dream has come true! Sir,  I'm not going further do describe how I enjoyed with my dream phone and how useful it  was in my studies and leisure.
I knew my phone was waterproof. It had words "water proof" on it. Recent day with my several colleagues,  I was out for swimming.  there I wanted to take few photos under water. There I used my Phone for few minutes to get several photos. Here I must specifically mention that adhering  to instructions stipulated in the manual I myself was careful, not to dip the phone deeper than 1meter under water. When I took the phone out of water to my amazement  I found it wasn't working anymore.
What a sorrow I felt  to see that it wasn't working anymore! I have no words to elaborate it.
I hurried to my dealer from whom I bought the phone. He said I am not entitled to any warranty because I had been offered a lower price. I was helpless. Thereafter I referred to  a repairer who after two weeks could bring  the phone back to working condition charging me a sum of LKRs2500.(a copy of  the receipt I include here) but I found he wasn't able to restore the phone back to what it was before. I found that when operated, in few minutes time it gets heating.
I have no more the said pride of being a owner of SONY  Xperia  Z2 phone with me. My grievance is Sir, If you had not embodied the words "water proof" on the phone I would never dare to test my phone under water. Hence  Sir,I kindly request you to  consider the above said my grievance and suitable remedial measure be taken .
    Thanking you,
    yours sincerely,
    Tharaka Gunarathne.

  • Best way to clean the screen?

I can't fully clean my screen. It is always dirty with finger prints here and there. What is the BEST and SAFEST way?

Despite the cool features and operation of your MacBook Pro, it is indeed quite delicate. After eight months of ownership I have traveled to Europe twice and bounced around the airports here in the states quite often while using my Mac in every conceivable dirty location. I’ve only had to actually clean my machine twice in this period. I use a standard clean micro-fiber lens cleaning cloth with bottled water. It works. If you have accumulated any crud, then simply apply a small amount of plastic lens cleaner to the water dampened lens cloth and that will gently remove most any soil from the case. BTW: if haven’t already done so, consider a Marware case protector that will greatly reduce the accumulation of stains, scratches, etc from developing on the wrist area. I don’t think much of the overly thick keyboard cloth that’s included with it although the stick on pad works very well and adds a nice appearance to an already beautiful Mac.

  • After immersion audio is very low

After testing immersion in water, my SmartWatch2 was working correctly. A few hours later, the screen went black and never started again. I detected some moisture in the corners of the screen. Also, tested this for my Xperia Z1. Phone is working, but sound is very low even when I set it to max level. Some forums state that after 2 hours it should be working normally again, but It's been 3 days now and still the same issue.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
About your SmartWatch 2, its only water resistant. Not proof. So if it has been submerged it may take damage by the water.
Regarding your Xperia Z1. It sounds like some moisture might still be trapped inside somehow. Try blowing into the speaker holes and check if you notice any difference.

  • Water inside my Xperia Z2

Hello everyone, recently I've been bringing my Xperia Z2 to the beach and take pictures under water, after that I always washed the phone with tap water and everything was okay, until few days ago when I brought my Xperia Z2 in a pool and I recorded some videos while I was riding some water slides. Some water got inside the phone even if the usb/microSD flaps were closed, I noticed that only when the touch screen wasn't working properly anymore, and there was some condensed water inside the camera lens, plus the white small stickers placed in the USB and microSD slots are still white.I turned off the phone and put it into a bag filled with rice for two days, now still the touch screen isn't working that good, for example when I try to use the keyboard and write something, but everything else works perfectly. Now I think that there's still some water left under the screen, infact I noticed that the phone detects inexistent finger taps only in the lower area of the screen, I don't know if I should send the phone to the Sony assistance center to be honest... I wanted to ask what you think I should do, because I'm still able to use the phone, I thought that maybe I could wait few more days and try to leave the phone in the rice bag again and see what happens(?) Thank you

Some would say open the flap and try and heat up the phone by playing games or recording in 4K etc, However if none of those type of things work then you could continue to use it or return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

    Subject: Phones Question to support
    Phone model: Xperia Z2
    Message:
    I am Gokul from chennai.
    Bought Sony Xperia Z2 (D6502) on 21-05-2014.
With the flaps intact, I accidentally dropped the mobile in a plate today (24-05-2012) at 11.00 am.
The Radius of the plate is 12.1 cm and the height of water is no more than 5cms (Info just to get an idea of water pressure).
The mobile worked fine for a few minutes after taking out from water.
Then the display started to flicker and after about 10 mins the phone died.
Opened the flaps and I was shocked to see water inside the handset.
Contacted Sony service at the toll free number and the ticked number is 14052402607.
Then I went to Sony Authorised Center at Anna Nagar at around 3.00 pm and they informed me the handset would be replaced under Accidental damage protection.
But the problem is the manufacturing defect, that let water inside the mobile even with flaps closed. (As a matter of fact I never opened the flaps after inserting my SIM and Memory card because I ise magnetic charge cable)
    Service center's point of view:
The customer would have dropped the mobile with ports open
And I perfectly agree with that.
Now I had completely dried my device by putting it into sack of rice. There is no water drops inside.
I can still proove in Authorised Service Centre by dropping the device in water to depth of just 5cm(but the device should be holding upto 1.5 metre) and the presence of water inside the flaps when taken out.
I remember bubbles coming out near magnetic charge port initially when dropped in water but believed in Sony nothing would happen.
I perfectly understand minor units would have defects like this but appropriate response is needed by the customers.
I had a very bad response from Sony Authorised Center at Anna Nagar.

My Reply back to sony and waiting for response
    Hi Nisha Sharma,
Please find below the additional details Required
    1.  Location and complete address of the Sony Service Centre (where your handset is submitted)
Repair and Return Technology (India) PVT LTD,
        2.  Latest Job slip/Work Order Number: W114052602866
    3.  Place of purchase and date (complete address of the dealer)
          Navkar Security Solutions (Sony Center),
          #3, Arcot Road, Porur,
          Chennai-600116.
          Purchased on 21-05-2014.
    4.  Date when the phone was submitted - 26-05-2014
    5.  Your alternate contact number :
The response from the service center and the sony call center on 1800-3000-2800 is just a one liner
The litmus indicator turned red and the device is out of warranty, whereas the litmus paper will also change red if water entered through the phone body seal.
Please find the attached voice recording done at Service center by calling to sony service for reference.
This is not the response customer would expect after getting a Flagship model.
I can still prove the device to be a faulty unit by any of the following test
    * Dry the phone completely. Place piece of litmus paper inside the flaps, close it securely, drop in water of just 5cm depth and we can see the color of litmus paper change due to water entering the phone via the body panel ( bottom left corner and near magnetic port)
    * Do a suction test near  bottom left corner or near magnetic port and we can feel the air getting through. I just did it holding it in mouth and **bleep** air inside and it did let the air through the panel.
Please inspect the device with your technician and let me know whether the device could be replaced under normal warranty. If not do not replace the device under accidental damage protection at this point of time. Return me the damaged device and I will proceed legally at consumer court at Chennai as I have already submitted the complaint form to the lawyer.

The testing procedure may vary between regions so as above please contact your local Xperia Team for specifics regarding their testing process for liquid damage.

  • Sony Xperia Z1 Water Resistivity false advertising and poor service from service center

I have bought Sony Xperia Z1 from eBay on 31 October 2013. I have been using this phone for nearly a year. The phone was good in performance but comes to water resistivity it will resist water for a few months but after few months even though the card slot and all flops are closed, the water gets in.I have faced this on 7th September when i was about to take a photo in pool, the water gets in and the phone was dead. And i took it to the service center ( Repair and Return Technology (I) Pvt Ltd) Egmore, chennai, on 9th September 2014. On 15th September i got a call that i have to pay nearly 20000 to rectify the phone. Then i called the service center and also sent mail to [email protected] and said that i was not satisfied with the reply. Then few days i again got mail like below
We understand your concern towards the service of your Sony XPERIA Z1.
We had received your Sony XPERIA Z1 at our Authorized Service Centre – M/S Repair and Return Technology, Egmore, vide Work Order No.W114090906449 with the nature of complaint “Cannot Power On”.
Upon physical inspection of the product by our engineers, the phone was found to be damaged due to external cause of liquid regression. As we mentioned in our Warranty Terms and Conditions, this service is not covered under Warranty. The Main Board needs to be replaced for satisfactory working of the product. The estimate for this service is Rs 12,488/- and Service charge is Rs.350/-.
This matter has been discussed with our management.
We regret that we are unable to comply with your request for free of cost service. We would once again request you to kindly approve the estimate so that we can proceed for service.
We solicit your kind understanding in this regard.
Thanking you and assuring you of our best services always.
    Warm Regards,
    Sony India Pvt. Ltd.
They just mention the flags turn red and so the water has got in. They were unable to explain how the water got in. I have seen several forums that many users facing this kind of issues even all the flaps are closed. I was completely stressed and depressed to hear this. I halfheartedly asked the service center to do the service on 1 October 2014. Today's date is 11 October 2014 but still now i haven't heard any update from SONY. When i asked SONY customer care or service center, they dont even know the status of the product, they saying that the phone has been given for service to next level, I have to wait for few days, But i have been waiting for 1 month. I was completely fed up with Sony Service as they are not even called me once regarding this. I have to call each and every time and not even get proper reply. Its very irritating.
If SONY is viewing this do necessary action or else you'll lose a premium customer and more customers in future.
Even though i got the phone how can i use this phone in water ? I completely lost trust in SONY and never buy any SONY product again. I'll go for Micromax next time.
    Order No.W114090906449
Sony XPERIA Z1, Model No. C6902,
    IMEI No.
I see many users here are suffering the same problem,
Beware of buying Xperia Water resistant products as it may not guarantee waterproof and they don't even give warranty if your phone got water.

I have had the same problem I have wrote to customer services and I keeping the same reply, that the phone has to be less than 1.5 meters, less than half an hour....... blah blah blah.
My phone failed in water and I had met all the conditions but they keep fobbing me off I have asked why they advertise the phone as waterproof when obviously its not.  The last reply I got was well it might not be waterproof.
Absolute rubbish the phone and the customer service.  and dont get me started on the smartwatch that failed in water as well it never worked I threw it in the bin.
Aviod sony products absolute junk I say.

  • Display problem in Xperia Z1 and water leak

    Hello,
I am from india and i own a xperia Z1, last week i got my display changed under warranty because i had a display issue. got it back last friday(13/02/15).
Today i did a water proof test and its failed. I recorded the whole thing in video, the moment i submerged the phone in a mug of water the display started blinking then i took it out and pressed the power button thats it display totally out. i had all my side covers closed and i recorded that also. So its the fault of the service person who fixed it  they didnt properly seal it. Now 36k phone's fate what is going to happen i dont know. Sony please i am a continous user of your brand and request you to fix a product again how it was while buying. within a year of buying i got display issue and now after fixing a new one this issue. anyway i am giving it again for a replacement my luck it should workout. if its not then will see the outcome of it. People or users who are reading this kindly request you to take a proof of what ever test you do with your phones.
    Thanks
    Koushik.

i have contacted and they have asked me to inform the service center where i changed my display. they said they will take photographs and send it to sony. but no reply from service center or sony either. Service center replies as we didnt get any reply from sony yet. i escalated the same to sony service heads, howlong will they take to reply? i am afraid whether they will take my issue into considration or they will leave just like that. I have evidence too for the water leak to show it is not my mistake.

  • Xperia Z1 Water Test

Xperia Z1 Water Test  Thank you for watching.

On a serious note, we should have the Water Proof test on the Service Menu. And currently, it says "Device does not support the function"... Tested it on water-resistant and waterproof devices from Xperia Go, Acro S, V, Z, ZR, Z Ultra and Z1, and sadly, Xperia Go has only this function working.
so when will Sony incorporate it on our device, and as you market Z1, the waterproof cameraphone?
