Water on ipad 1

I have I PAD 1 , bought from sydney store on 2009 June . the warrnaty has finished .
my son washed it with water so that he become more sparkel .i donot know what to do with it now . please can someone help.
thank you

Leave it powered off. Bury it under some dry rice and let it sit for a few days. The rice will help to pull the water out of the inside. Leaving it turned off is vital. Flash memory is pretty stable, i've washed flash drives and they still work, but you have to get it dry before you run any power through it or that power may arc and short out and you'll damage/kill the device.
No guarantee that it'll fix it perfectly, but you have to let it dry and the dry rice is what they recommend for cell phones that get an unexpected bath

  • Is there any hope for a water damaged ipad mini?

I accidentally spilled some water over my ipad mini. I think the water got into the ipad thru the earphone jack. If spent about two weeks trying to dry it out.
The excess  moisture that was inside the screen has disappeared (after head and rice and all that sort of thing) but it will not switch on.
If I connect to the power, I can hear the audible beep that happens when you plug it in. If I leave it for a while, I can randomly hear Siri saying something like 'Siri cannot operate'(not too sure - I've always been too far away) and 'please connect to Internet'
This makes me feel there is something there but, I still can not turn it on.
    Any help? Any hope?
    Noreen

    there may not be unfortunately.
The water itself doesn't damage the device, but the short circuits the water causes does the damage. Anecdotally, people have reported success drying their device out, but usually the key is to rice it and leave it until it's totally dry. And avoid any power that may cause those short circuits. Since you've turned it on and such what damage there was to do is probably already done.
Just guessing, from what you;'re saying, the wifi part and the backlight/screen light seems to be damaged even though part of the operating system works (since siri can tell you she needs the internet)
You may be to the point of hoping Apple can grant you an out of warranty replacement (they don't have to when it's user damage) or looking for a new device.

  • Water damaged iPad; screen came on, charged 2%, now all is black

My daughter poured water into the plastic wrapping my brand new iPad came with (surprise! she can reach the water dispenser on the refridgerator now). I let it sit in a bag of rice for 7 days. The charging icon came on after about 10 minutes, then nothing. Black screen. Kept it plugged in anyway. Nothing. Took it into Apple, the guy checked for arcing, and saw none of that (he didn't open it, just used a flashlight to peer inside. It's now two weeks later. I have an appointment to take it in to Apple tonight but thought I'd try again. Plugged it into my PC at work, and got the charging icon. Let it sit 20 minutes. Got a 2% charge and the screen came on, just like new! Pressed the home button again 5 minutes later, nothing. Black screen. Has this happened to anyone else and come out with a happy ending? Any advice? This is my last ditch attempt before I shell out the $299 for a replacement. Thanks for any help!! This iPad was a Christmas gift from my mom, so I need to have it working or a new iPad by the time she comes over tonight . She bought it brand new Christmas 2013, so it's the latest model. I think it's an Air.

    Sounds like it's damaged.

  • Spilled water on iPad (4 gen)

I didn't actually spill water on it. I did before on my previous iPad and it broke. I'm just asking what I should do if I do spill water on my iPad again.
    Extra info:
The previous iPad stopped working because water got inside the iPad through the battery place, it worked fine for a couple of hours, and then just turned into a complete black screen. I got my new iPad because the employee at Apple had said that it can't be fixed.

  • Water in ipad air

I own and have owned many Apple products and always buy Apple Care, but I've never had a need for Apple Care, the products just don't fail me (except for a couple of bad batteries on an iPhone 3G), and I handle them carefully.
So a few weeks ago I bought an iPad Air and elected to not purchase the coverage. Big mistake.
Due to a fluke accident, a very small amount of water (estimated to be 1 tsp. or less) got on the Air and worked its way inside. It may have been wet for 3-4 hours before I discovered the problem. I was able to get some water to drip out through the headphone jack.
Using iFixIt.com I was able to get the unit opened and there were a few small drops of water found. Blotted those up, then propped the unit on its side to facilitate any further draining overnight.
I can't see any evidence of water in the internals (LCD panel removed), and I've applied some very light shots of canned air into the tiny recesses to check if any water appeared. Nothing.
What, if anything, else should be done prior to reassembly? How long would you wait until reassembly and attempting to turn it on?

To be safe place the iPad components into an airtight bag or container with some form of dessicant for a week before reassembling. Also hope that no corrosion occurred before you were able to address this problem.
    Good luck.

  • My ipad drop in water

my ipad drop in water need help.

I doubt very much that the Apple techs will do anything other than tell Bancie that s/he needs to pay for a replacement. After an hour in the water (as stated in his/her other thread) the iPad is almost certainly damaged, and the Apple Stores will not disassemble and try to repair a water-damaged iPad, they'll just replace it for their standard charge.
Keeping the iPad from drying out it also just going to increase the chances of corrosion, so I see little benefit in taking steps to keep it wet.
    Regards.

  • My iPad mini charger works but my iPad mini refuses to charge. What do I do?

My iPad mini charger works but my iPad mini refuses to charge. What do I do?

    Try a different cable
Try to clean out the 30-pin/Lightning port on the device using a clean toothbrush (or similar) & blow it out. There may be dust/lint preventing proper electrical connection. The older 30-pin port is much more prone to dust & lint getting inside and it's internal conductors are very small. Clean the port out thoroughly and also the 30-pin connector on the cable.
Don't charge using the USB ports on the PC. Most PC's USB ports do not supply enough current to properly charge your device. A USB port (or the iPhone's charger) supplies 5 watts of charging current. The iPad Air's charger supplies 12 watts of charging current. Trying to charge your iPad with your PC's USB ports or the iPhone's 5 watt charger is like trying to fill a water bucket (iPad's battery) with a little toy squirt gun (PC's USB ports or iPhone 5 watt charger).
Instead, use the charger that came with the device and the cable that came with the device.

  • I water damaged my iPhone and want to get my photos back. My iPhone was ios7 but my icloud synced to my work ipad on ios8. Is it now impossible to view any data from ios7 on icloud drive? Any help to get my photos back please!

I damaged my iphone 5s and want to get my photos back. It was submerged in water for a good five minutes (and is now in rice) but I'm pretty sure it's dead.
I really would like to get my photos back. I wasn't plugging in my iphone and backing up, I just assumed it did it automatically because about a week ago I had a message saying automatic backups were stopping as my icloud was full.
My work ipad is running on ios8 (as of a few days ago!) but my iphone was on ios7 as I didnt have enough space to install the update. This means that my icloud is now icloud drive and I cannot view the stuff from my ios7 device without upgrading it to ios8. Trouble is, I cant upgrade it because it's in a rice bowl.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Any idea if I will be able to access my photos on icloud at all? I'm not very hopeful for my phone working again and downloading things that way!
    Thanks!

Photos that are in the cloud stay there until they are removed by a device that has the right privileges. If your iPad is logged in with the same AppleID, then doesn't it show the photos from iCloud?
You will only be on iCloud Drive if you expressly chose to upgrade.

  • IPad mini screen not working / water damage

I had my iPad mini and a bottle of water i in my bag - water started leaking. When I realised the iPad was still working (it was a bit wet but wiped it off and tested it and it was working), I removed the case and put it in a dry bag. Came back home and tried to use it. The screen lit up for 2 secs and then went dark. The iPad is still working - when I press the home button and the power button I can hear the "taking picture" sound. The screen however remains black.... Any idea what I need to do? Thank you, Eleni

You really should not turn the iPad on until it is totally dry. Turn it off, if it will turn off. Get a bag and fill it with uncooked white rice. Place the iPad in the bag for 48 hours and let the rice draw the water out of the iPad. You need enough rice to cover the iPad. After 48 hours, remove the iPad, if it still seems to have some dampness, get more rice and try it again.
When you think it is finally dry enough to try, power it back up again And see how it goes. A better alternative, IMO, would be to take the iPad to an Apple Store and let them inspect it after you dry it out and before you turn it on again.

  • Original iPad mini had water damage, then sat around for 8 months.

I have an iPad mini with water damage that has been sitting around for 8 months.
I woke up in the middle of the night and spilled water on it. It was plugged in and in an Otterbox. I unplugged it, took it out of the case, and dried it off. I then put it back in the case, plugged it in, and went back to bed.
When I awoke, it was no longer working. I can't remember anymore details than that, so I have no idea what was the ultimate killer of it. I tried putting it in a bag of rice, but it didn't work. What I want to know is how much would it cost to fix it, if It can be fixed. If not, what would you all do? I loved this thing to death and kept hoping it would come back, but it hasn't.

You can make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and do an out-of-warranty replacement for $199 or you can buy a new one.

  • Cleaning the surface of the iPad using other than water?

I have been using my iPad for about 4 days and have decided that a product like 'Gecko Guard' may be useful to prevent scratches.
The problem is that, having used the iPad, how to remove the finger grease that accumulates so that the guard will stay on the surface without air bubbles. Apple suggests water and a microfibre-type cloth. That will not remove the oily residue applied by fingers.
I am considering using my spectacles cleaner first, then using the water/cloth method followed by drying/polishing gently with a microfibre cloth.
I use OPSM cleaner and I was wondering if anything in this cleaner would cause a problem with the coating on the iPad's screen. Any suggestions?

Apple state: " If your iPhone has an oleophobic coating on the screen (iPhone 3GS only), simply wipe your iPhone’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands and face."
    Here's the link: http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/index.html#basics.cleaning-iphone
If you follow the link at the bottom of the page to the Important Product Information Guide, it goes onto say the oleophobic coating may diminish over time...
Although this references the iPhone, the iPad has the same oleophobic coating, so a dry lint free cloth should be used to easily remove skin grease residue from the screen.
For previous non oleophobic screens, a lightly dampened cloth is recommended for cleaning the screen.
The change from a slightly damp to a dry lint free cloth would suggest you should keep moisture away from oleophobic coatings.
Having never cleaned an astronomical lens or mirror, I have absolutely no idea what the manufacturers of these things recommend for cleaning purposes, but unless the unit the lens and/ or mirror is waterproof, I would be dubious about throwing buckets of water (or even using water) to clean such specialised and expensive pieces of kit unless the manufacturer recommends the use of water for cleaning purposes.
I use Leica lenses amongst other Pro level Canon / Nikon lenses in my photography, water doesn't get anywhere near them unless they are housed in a specialised waterproof enclosure. The slightest gap around the lens fittings/ lens tubes would allow moisture in. Moisture within a closed lens system = contamination = fungal growth = eventually a useless lens.
But hey that's just my recommendation Mr. Brewer.
