Water spilled onto macbook - Need emergency help now, please!

Hello,
Last night about one cup of water spilled onto my macbook. Basically, it shut down and I made the mistake of trying to turn it on (multiple times).
It is now dry, but it still will not turn on. I do not have apple care, but I still do have a limited warranty.
My question is: what are my options? I need it repaired a.s.a.p. I know everybody says this, but I really do need it for college.
Anyway, again, what is the best option? Can I mail it it for them to fix? What NEEDS to be fixed? If I take it to an apple store (the nearest is about 300 miles away), can they fix it (and on the spot)? How much should this cost?

You can call Apple service. They will have to see it before they can quote a repair price. Not sure what country your in but if it is the US you could also try http://www.macservice.com/macbook.html, They will check it out and give you a quote and they are usually cheaper than Apple on most repairs. You can also do a search for MacBook Repairs and find numerous other sources for repair that may be very close to where you live.

Thursday--I spilled water on the keyboard of my MacBook Pro 15", and it immediately turned off. I unplugged it from the charger and turned it upside down, and then began to dry it off the best i could with a towel while letting it drain. Then I took it straight to the Apple store on my campus, where a technician removed the back, took each part out separately, and then dried it/the parts out the best he could. He advised me to wait a day or two and then try to turn it on.
Saturday--I used a hair dryer on low heat to help dry it out the best I could, and then I tried to turn my computer on. It wouldn't work, but when I plugged it into the charger it did turn on. The screen looked a little waterlogged and was flickering slightly. I took it back to the store and they said that their technician would look at it.
Wednesday--I went back to check on the status of my MacBook, and the guy presented me with two options:
I can replace the Logic Board for approx. $500-600 and be done with it (and eventually the moisture in the screen, which is clear as ever now, will dry up?)
or
I can send my entire MacBook back to the factory for replacement/repair of anything that might need fixing for around $1300-1400.
I am currently on my MacBook now, and it seems to be working just fine (although it has to stay plugged into a power source because the battery won't charge)...
Money isn't an issue here, yet (it was bought with an AmEx and is covered with that warranty up to a certain dollar amount), but my question is this: Is it necessary for me to replace my Logic Board, if my computer still seems to be working--or will I end up seeing issues down the road if I don't and Should I go ahead and send it in for a full factory repair?? Is it really worth it??

It would be best to send your MacBook in for a complete overhauled, this will save you time and trouble in the near future. I am sure you have some items internally that will continue to corrode and render your MacBook inoperable some day soon.

Take it to Apple and ask them to fix the physical damage the water caused.

1) System was running fine...
2) Plugged in Split Mini-Jack from daughter card slot, to Line-In Minijack (where it was before)...
3) Sound from speakers blurted out loud...
4) Screen Froze up... no Ctl-Alt-Delete...
5) Power button... No response...
6) Reset Button... No Response...
7) Unplugged...
8) Try to power on...
RES:: No signal to monitor... LED Light on case turns on for about 10 seconds... CD-rom LED turns on as if BIOS... Then computer turns off... Fans Still working...
THOUGHTS:: Since the speakers are powered through the sound card (and were on at time), then when the Split Mini-Jack Dongle from daughter card, was plugged back into the Line-In Mini-jack port (where it was origionally)... Something shorted out... Any Ideas on what, exactly...?? Anyone heard of this before...?? I've never seen something like this before, and PC's have changed SOOO much over the last few years, that I'm kinda in the dark... But this is my girlfriend's computer, and she has a Mid-Term paper due on Monday (today being Saturday), and I'm in serious trouble right now... PLEASE HELP...!!!
The company that built the computer, doesn't seem to be in business anymore...!!!
(But the waranty sticker is still intact on the case, she doesn't want me to cut it unless the builder is definitely out of business...)

Help I accidently spilled a water battle and some water spilled onto..

My desk, possible small amount inside, on the screen and keyboard.
I got it all cleaned up but the inside if their was any inside. Unplugged my emac and started to clean the emac outside but not inside cause I am not a technical at the inside if their was any water. I booted this up and works like nothing has happen. Also on the screen were it has the border line small amount was inside their but got that cleaned out. Any advises?

If the computer didn't spark and give off the distictive smell of burning insulation when you turned it back on, you're in the clear by now! The seal between a CRT and the bezel of the front case isn't watertight, and it is indeed possible to short out the electronics if a conductive liquid spills onto the CRT glass and runs into the case. This is true of any CRT, not just the eMac. This is also why you'll see warnings not to spray glass cleaner directly onto a CRT (the results can be fairly spectacular with a large-screen CRT TV set, not that you want to find that out firsthand). At least your spill was water, which would leave little if any residue behind. Soda spills can literally eat away ot conductive membrane traces.
Should another water spill occur in the future, the best advice is to shut down immediately and leave the electronic devive involved powered down for one to three days depending on the ambivent humidity. I've seen suggestions, not personally tired but from a reliable source, that if the electronic device in question will fit, you can put it in an over set to its lowest temperture, not more than 160F, with the oven door open for several hours to dry it out. I'd personally stick to letting things air dry.

Need Emergancy help with new upt

Hi I just updated my sound cards drivers I have the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS.
Now I am all screwed up. I updated everything like I did before from the update page, now I no longer can find my taskbar icon for volume, cannot find EAX cannot find Equalizer for the media player everything is all screwed up. I tried to revert back to my ariganal drivers from the CD that came with it. And when I install it I now get a error msg saying error loading language something? and it had to do with the volume controll. I am not so computer savy but I have not had this happen before.
I downloaded all availabe updated drivers and software from the download page, I did everything the way I always done, and now Im lost.
Can someone help me please. I am sure you will want more info so please be patient I am new to all this.

I've gone through all Updates again, and still nothing :-/
yet again the iPad and iPhone are actually charging on the iPega Dock,
i've plugged the iPega USB straight into the iMac USB Port
(where as before I used an extension) but still nothing,
they're charging but iTunes and iPhoto etc just aint detecting them,
is there anything else on the iMac itself that needs to be turned on or anything?
and again with the PRAM Reset, I kept my fingers on the Option, Command, R and P but there was 1 chime and then a box saying about resetting and backing up and so on....

Need help now please. macbook wont start up

I have a white macbook.
I was using it yesterday and the computer just shut off. I went to restart it and it does the chime, goes to the apple screen and just as the little circle under the apple spins, the laptop totally shuts down. it will not start.
I have tried to reset the pram and that didn't work. I just installed 10.6.4 yesterday....
Please help. I need the computer for work today.

First thing to try, is booting from the restore DVD and installing a fresh copy of 10.6. If you're lucky, the 10.6.4 update just hosed your OS install, and a simple reinstall is all that's needed.
Once you've booted to the 10.6 installer, it couldn't hurt to run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu to verify the SMART status of the drive, and even run a repair disk operation on it.
If the SMART status is failed, or Disk Utility doesn't see the drive, then you're looking at a hardware failure. You'll need to take it somewhere to be fixed if it's under warranty, otherwise if you have some precision screwdrivers like a PH000 and Torx T4, you can replace the drive yourself with pretty much any 2.5" SATA drive.

Need EMERGENCY help with shutting down my MacBook pro

So it's like this,I wanted to update the frameware,and now it's been around 3 hours that the macbook's monitor gone white and not operating with any keys of keyboard! How should I turned off or make it work?

To force turn the system off hold down the power button until it shuts down, everything turns off.
But that doesn't mean it will start back up. With any Firmware update there is a chance of turning the system into a brick. If it doesn't turn back on then your only option is to take it into an Apple store to be fixed.

Yesterday I installed the latest version of OS X onto my Mac Mini (I've had it for ages though on my MBP)
I stupidly installed Windows XP SP 1 with a partition of only 8GB (because it wouldn't take any higher for some reason)..
I then found out that I can't install Bootcamp on Windows XP SP 1...So I downloaded the drivers for SP 2...
I tried installing SP 2 (after I got the drivers for Windows Installer)..only to find out that 7GB of free harddrive isn't enough to upgrade to SP2...
So now my Mac Mini is currently stuck in Windows XP..Anybody got any tips to get me out of XP and back onto OS X...
*Even if it means resetting/rebooting the Mac, and loosing all of my work - I'll do it! I just want to get out of XP!*

It does mean that. The answer is to repartition (which means wiping the drive) I suggest you back up your work. Even though you can't boot in X you should be able to see it? Then reformat the drive with the an appropriate partition for XP. Always make the partition a good size larger than you need. Any volume needs free space to operate well. At least 15-20% free space is a rule of thumb.

The End user license agreement did not appear to sign and accept. So now when I open another site to download pdfs, it says I need to launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser.

Need EMERGENCY Help... some photos are solid green

Been working on 8 different tribute videos all week... now exporting for showing at a banquet tonight and the problem is that some of the photos are appearing as green blocks. There is no consistency with file type, as some are jpegs and some are .psd. I have been doing these videos for 8 years and never had this probelm. I have tried exporting as MPEG-2, AVI and H.264. Same problem each time. Photos show up fine in PPro timeline. HELP!!!!

If the images 'Preview Render' fine in the timeline, and it's an emergency,
you could try exporting with 'Use Previews' checked.
You will likely take a degree of quality hit, but if it's an emergency.....

Hi! I need a lot of help.
I deleted the songs off my itunes and then copied them back by using my ipod. Then, thinking everything would be fine with my music, I restored my ipod because it was messed up.
Now when I tried to sync my ipod, it does not sync the music, and when I click the , it says original file not found! I bought all these songs once and I would be devestated to have to buy them again. Please help immediately as I will be leaving tomorrow!!!

Hi fatbear711. are the following as follows? Settings/restrictions: Facetime and Camera are both ON? Also in Game centre at bottom 'Adding Friends" is turned on? If all ok, log into your account via itunes App, Click on your ID at bottom left of say the Music page, then click to 'Manage', enter password. On next page click on your apple ID at top, then select to go to '[email protected]'. Log in on the browser window page that appears and confirm that your primary apple ID and primary email have been verified (should have green ticks and the word 'verified' next to them. If you use itunes on a pc to sync with then do this through iTunes;Store menu on your pc, ensuring that you sync your device once finshed. You will also need to check that your device is set to the correct timezone and time in your devices settings page. If problem still persists at least we'll know the basics are ok.
When you post again can you also include whether ipad2/3 etc and iOS e.g. 5.3.1/6.01 etc
