Watermark In LightRoom 5

I go to export photos and when I go to the add watermark section it's grayed out, I can not select a watermark. How can i fix this? Thanks

By the look of your screenshot, you are exporting as one of the raw formats, either Original or DNG. You can only watermark images saved as JPEG, TIFF or PSD.

  • Watermarks in Lightroom 4

Hi. I have Lightroom 4 and was able to get my text watermark to export on my photos until I changed the resolution. Now, even after changing the resolution back, it still won't export the watermark. I've tried deleting and recreating the watermark and it still won't work. I'm getting really frustrated. Can you help me? I've looked at all the settings and have marked the watermark checkbox...I really don't know what else to do.
    Thanks!
    Stephanie

You probably have to edit the watermark, and then re-export the photo.
You can edit the watermark in the Export dialog box, scroll down to Watermarking, check Watermark and then in the dropdown menu, select Edit Watermarks

  • I am having trouble exporting photos with a watermark in lightroom 5 with windows 8

I click export, then edit watermarks, make my adjustments, click create, then export...photo gets exported without the watermark....what am I doing wrong?

Just a couple of observations that may not be of any help to you. After you click on the export button, you won't see any activity on the Lightroom interface unless you are exploring several images in which case you will see a progress bar in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. I noticed on your export settings that you have checked the option to add the exported image to the catalog, so it isn't going to automatically show up in Lightroom. You might try right clicking on the folder you are working with and choose to synchronize it and see if that will bring in those newly exported images.

  • Use filename as watermark in Lightroom 5

Is it possible to watermark my images with their filenames in Lightroom 5?

There is a way but it is not automated.
You can edit a new watermark and apply it.
As for an automated solution there may be a plug-in that can do this but personally I am not aware of one.

  • How do you add a watermark using lightroom 5.6  ive tried a few and they dont add on

I'm editing photos and need to add a watermark. I have tried to add the watermark and everytime i add it. it doesnt show up on the photos. Its really bugging me. can anyone help.

The watermark should show up on the photos you Export when you’ve enabled it for a particular Export batch.
Some fonts aren’t compatible with watermarking, though, so you might try another font and see if it works better.

  • Editing Watermarks in Lightroom 4

I have been using this application for some time and have a long list of watermarks.  How do I  :-
    1. Edit a matermark without creating a new one?  When I try to save an edited watermark it asks for a new name and creates a new one adding it to the list.
    2. Delete watermarks no longer needed - the list is long!
The Edit Watermarks dialog doesn't seem to cater for either of these actions.

Aha!. Before i installed i remembered that i had moved the .png file containing the watermark.. Copyed it back to its original location and all problems gone. To bad there was no error message informing me about the missing file but rather let the dialog crash. Will install 4.4.1 anyhow,

  • Anyone experiencing poor quality watermarks from Lightroom 3?

    Hi all,
I'm working on a project where I need to export hundreds of custom images for use on a website. Each image needs to have a watermark on it. So I created the watermark in Illustrator, then placed it into a 900 pixel x 900 pixel file and saved for web as a PNG-24 with transparency.
When I export images form LR3 using the above graphic as a watermark the image quality is great, but the watermark has rough edges and is pixelated at any setting under 2500 pixels. I need to output down as small as 150, 225 and 250 pixels. I can do this in photoshop and the watermark looks great. Yet from LR the quality is noticably bad. See the attached file.
Anyone have any input on how to improve the quality of the watermark?

Yep, transparent PNG watermarks are downsampled with a very crappy algorithm.
I am afraid there's nothing you can do about it (except, use a third party plugin).

  • Lightroom 2 Watermark Inquiry

    Watermark,
Does Lightroom 2 have watermarking capabilities yet? I need to know before I buy.
    Thanks,
    Linda

    Joseph,
Whereas I appreciate the links, I don't think you understand.
The first link does not seem to fit what I am looking to do at all, at least according to the sample I saw. It is not a custom watermark as I currently use in Photoshop.
The OnOne tutorial for Preparing a Watermark File has to do with Photoshop. I own and love OnOne's tools, but this is not the solution that I want. It requires too many extra steps, ie lost time, ie cutting into profit.
I currently use Photoshop for my custom watermarking. I also help others learn how to use Photoshop and Lightroom within our Pro Photographer's Guild.
I want to cut out this step and be able to embed a custom watermark file into all images without having to go to or through PS. When you bring a job of 900 images back to the studio, you want to cut out every possible step that would slow down the processing stage. This is why I love and recommend Lightroom to others.
Within our Guild there are photographers who look to me for advice when it comes to post processing. Up to now I was recommending Lightroom not only for processing but also for the wonderful web gallery features. But making a beautiful web gallery without watermarked images is a serious oversight.
I'm constantly encouraging photographers to make sure their images are watermarked before they are posted on the web.
This should have been the first feature implemented in Lightroom 2. I'm sure several of us who have made this request have influence over the purchases of others. I have people ask me about Lightroom vs Photoshop all the time. Now that LR 2 is out, I know I will be asked by others whether they should upgrade or not. If the Watermark feature is not implemented I am going to discourage upgrading, because I feel this is an essential ingredient professional photographers need in post processing, both for the web and for client comps.

  • Typekit fonts not available in Lightroom (and only in Lightroom)

    Hi,
I have been a Creative Cloud member (full membership) for quite a while now and just this week I noticed that Typekit fonts I've synced to my computer are available on all the CC apps I use, except for Lightroom.
The fonts are evidently synced correctly (since I can, for instance, use them within Photoshop CC). However, whenever I try to create a new watermark within Lightroom, my Typekit fonts are nowhere to be found.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, latest Creative Cloud desktop app and all my CC software is up to date. I have searched and roamed the web for hours and have not found a single way to solve this issue.
I have already tried to sign out and back in, restart all apps, restart CC desktop, reboot windows, all while being permanently connected to the internet.
Any thoughts on what I may be missing?
    Best regards
    Javier

    Hi Javier,
Thanks you for sending an email to Typekit Support!  I have forwarded it to our lead Product Manager, and asked him to look into it the bug report with the Lightroom team.  We'll update you again over email once we know more about the bug.
There isn't another workaround to use the fonts from Typekit in your watermark, unfortunately.  If there are one of two fonts you really would like to use, you do have the option of purchasing the desktop license from the foundry and installing the font on your computer.  Once it is installed, it will be added to all the type menus in Lightroom.
If you'd like to look into that, here are the foundry websites for the two fonts you have synced from Typekit:
Felt Tip Roman - Felt Tip Roman – Mark Simonson
FF Market - FF Market fonts from the FontFont Library
And again, we will follow up in your support email with more information as well.  Best,

  • How to delete watermark presets when file is missing.

Ok, so I have searched high and low on all kinds of search engine and forums looking for a solution to this problem I was having with deleting watermarks from Lightroom 4.  I had a bunch of watermarks that I had created in LR4 that was a result of trying to redo a previously created watermark (why Adobe don't allow you to overwrite I don't know) but instead of overwriting the currently selected watermark LR4 lets you create a new preset from the changes.  These changes build up over time and you sometimes end up with missing or moved files.  If these graphic files are missing then you may or may not have ran into my dilema where when you select the watermark to try and delete it, the dialog box just keeps disappearing and nothing you do seem to work.  Don't dispear, here is a solution I've discovered that I couldn't find anywhere else.
    1. Open LR4 (Not sure if this works with other versions)
    2. Select the Print module (this seem to be the fastest, easiest way to access and edit watermarks)
    3. Select the check box next to the watermark under the "Page" pane on the right (this will allow you to select and edit the individual watermarks)
    4. select the dropdown menu and chose the watermark that you want to edit.  The dialog bot will open but beware it will quickly vanish in a couple seconds so here is my solution (at least until Adobe fixes this problem).  Grab hold of the dialog box before it closes and hold it for a few seconds, this will delay or stop it from closing instantaneously.
    5. Select the dropdown menu within the dialog box and chose delete watermark option, confirm that you want to delete and voila!
Sorry for making this so long but I think the details maybe more helpful than you think, especially for people that are a bit technically challenged.
    Caios!

    Dawill76,
Alternative procedure to your # 4: Select the watermark you want to edit. Let the dialog box close, then open it again ... and
now <Delete preset ...> is visible and available as an option.
This is one of the idiosyncrasies of Lr: You have to open the dialog box twice. First to select the watermark, and second to delete it.

  • LR3 not letting me select PNG Watermark

I created a PNG watermark in Elements 9 but when I try to import it into LR it's grayed out and therefor not selectable in the file selection window...  I've spent the last 2 hours reading for a fix but haven't found a single link addressing this sort of problem.
Does anyone have an idea of what I could have possibly missed?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It’s unclear from your description if there is something wrong with the PNG or something wrong with how LR is allowing you to select files for watermarks.
You might try the same thing with a JPG just to see if that works or not.  You don’t want to use a JPG in your final version, but just for a test.
You might also upload your problem PNG to a website and post a link to it or if it is small enough attach it to a forum-message, here, perhaps making a test version that doesn’t have anything important in it, for others to try to see if it also doesn’t work for them and to examine the properties of the PNG to make sure it seems ok.  Apparently the PNG needs to be 8-bits and can have transparency.
Here is an online tutorial about how to make one and use it using PS, in case there is some step that isn’t quite right:

  • PS CS action not working on Lightroom-exported JPGs

    Hi,
I am using an old version of Photoshop (CS) and the latest version of Lightroom.
I export the Lightroom image as a JPG, then open in Photoshop (either via LR Droplet as part of post-processing or manually).  I try to run two actions: 1) resize the photo, and 2) add watermark using a .PDF file.  What happens is the following:
    - I can run the "resize" action and it works fine, but the "add watermark" action does not work - it adds the blank layer background and the watermark is missing
    - If I run the "add watermark" action first, before resizing, that works fine.  However, I would like to resize first and THEN add the watermark.
Please note that these two actions, in any order, work perfectly with normal JPGs.  I am only seeing this problem on a .JPG that has been exported from Lightroom.
I have tried adding the graphical watermark in Lightroom upon expert, but it just does not look as good as when I add it in Photoshop, which is why I need this extra PS step.
Any comments and insights would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

No, this is true for all jpegs. When manually saving a jpeg with layers in PS, PS will show a caution symbol in the save dialog box. In the latest versions of PS it defaults ot saving the file as a copy and merging automatically. It leaves the original file intact, though. I dont remember what PS CS1 did by default. Point being that when running this process as an action, PS may have to decide what to do with the layer without user input.
Jpegs created in LR are the same as any other jpgs. It very well may be a color space issue with the pdf. The jpegs that you are used to might be in sRGB and you might be exporting AdobeRGB(98) or ProPhoto from LR.
Another possiblity would be where the pdf is located on your system. PS actions may be using relative paths instead of absolutes. IDK... that would be something for the PS forum.
My plan of attack would be:
    1. Check the color space used on export.
    2. Add a merge visible to your action.
    3. Save the PDF watermark as a jpeg.

  • Calling ALL Lightroom experts

Help! I wa nt to take a black and white photo and make the flower the only thing that has color. Is that an option with lightroom? I also want to make graphic watermarks. Do i need photoshop? Is there a download i can purchase for my lightroom??

I know that you can edit a watermark in Lightroom (Edit>Edit Watermarks) but I am not sure if this is what you are looking for.  I do not use watermarks. If you want to use a png file with a transparent background, you definitely will need an image editor such as Photoshop.
Yes, you can use Edit Watermarks to set up as many watermark presets as you need, and then you assign one to each export job. I wanted to clarify one thing though. You can definitely use the Lightroom watermark editor to import and apply a graphic watermark such as a transparent PNG, so if you already have one, you can just bring it in and set it up. But if you need to create the graphic watermark file itself, you do need Photoshop to do that.

  • Problems with watermarks

I am trying to add a watermark in Lightroom and have followed the procedure described in the instructions.  In the preview of the image, I can see the watermark but when I apply it there is nothing showing on the photo.  I have tried different font sizes etc to see if that is a problem, but it doesn't help. Any suggestions about how to fix this?

Have you tried changing the font?
There's a long-standing bug in the Watermarks feature, which is only triggered when there's a mix of a certain font, a certain proportional size, and a certain export file size. Improvements have been made over various releases, but it still crops up from time to time (often when using downloaded speciality fonts). Of the standard system font set, I know that Lucida Calligraphy can trigger the issue.
If this is the problem that you've run into, try changing one or more of those 3 things (font, proportional size, export size), though changing the font is usually the easier fix.

  • Lightroom watermarks not showing up in Windows explorer.

Quick question for everybody. I imagine there's an easy solution for it, I just haven't been able to figure it out.
The company I work for needs to manage and watermark many different types of photos (perfect for Lightroom.)  The only problem is, when Im uploading photos to our website, the Lightroom watermarks dont show up in the thumbnail preview of Windows Explorer. When I right click the image thumbnail and select "preview" the full size image preview pops up with the watermark. I guess my question is, is there any way to get the Lightroom watermarks to show up when viewing files in Explorer in large thumbnail view? It would save my a lot of time and frustration.
    Thanks ahead of time!

Im including this image in case I did a terrible job of explaining my problem.
