Watermark PS programming

My custom application generates Postscript files that are then distilled to create a PDF file as final output.
I know how to program a watermark in Postscript using setpagedevice.
However, I cannot find a way to dynamically make the watermark appear only at printing time. I'd like to emulate (programmatically in PS, or pdfmark) the Acrobat Professional capability whereas you can set a watermark to appear only at printing time.

You could for example print the watermark if not a reconized non-printer like distiller or gs
or vice versa print if a known printer.

DVD Studio Pro 3 Subtitle Issue

I'm authoring a few discs that are meant to be auto play and auto looping. I need to watermark the programs for copyright reasons, so I used the subtitle a subtitle. I clicked the box to force display and then applied to stream. When the program begins the watermark/subtitle is there. If I push stop and then push play again, the subtitle is disabled. If I click the menu or title button, it takes me back to the beginning of the program and the watermark is there again. What is causing the subtitle do become disabled. Aside from going back into FCP and waiting a long time for the files to render or to be limited to 4 second title clips in imovie, I am out of options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The problem with placing the video in a menu to solve the problem as suggested is you could hit the 1Gb limit on menus...
Not surfe how you've placed your subtitle - is it one long subtitle? If not what might be worth trying is set your subtitle to say 3 seconds long then slectit in the time line and do Cmd+D (if memory serves) to duplicate it until it fills up the timeline. It will "drop out" when you fast forward but then drop back in when it hits the next 3 second interval...

I prefer iDVD for image quality of the final slideshow but you can't have KB effect and can only have one type of transition per slideshow. You can have text and music, however. For what you want to do I agree with Terence that PhototoMovie is probably your best bet. It produces some fine quality movie clips. I only used it once quite a while ago so can't make a judgement on if it's easier than iMovie.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Watermarks Program or Adobe Elements 8?

Hello. I am looking for a watermark program for my photos. I see that I can get a dedicated watermark program for about 20 dollars but I also noticed Elements 8 is on for about 70. From what I understand, Elements 8 will also do a watermark and I would be tempted to go the extra 50 to get both a watermark AND I assume a very good basic photo program that will run in conjunction with iPhoto.
Can anyone familiar with Elements 8 advise me if it does in fact do watermarks in addition to being a quite good photo program?
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you only expect to do watermarking on photos one of the dedicated watermarking applications would probably be the better choice. However if you think you might want to do more advanced editing over and above what iPhoto can do then IMO Photoshop Elements for Mac would be the better choice. Some of the types of editing it's capable of are : Example 1 - Example 2 - Example 3 and Example 4 (although the video if of Photoshop, PSE has the same capability). If you do go the PSE route the following may be of some help to you:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. *I believe the later versions of PSE would require the same preferences stetting but I've not had the opportunity to try them to confirm.*
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

Watermarking program with time stamps?

Hi all,
Just curious to see if Acrobat Pro has a feature where I can add a watermark both at the top, bottom and middle-diagonal with name and timestamp of date opened/accessed or created. I've been looking all over and have only found a watermarking option but no time stamp feature.
Any help woudl be greatly appreciated, and I'm sorry if this is in the wrong subforum.

Are you sure you want a watermark?
Reader cannot add the OCG watermark layer!
You can create watermarkFromText with JavaScript but you cannot update or remove a watermark with JavaScript.
You can create a string value of formatted date and time object from the system date time object.
So one could combine the create watermarkFromText and compute the text string for the date and time from the system date and time or form info creation date or modified date.
Have you considered using read only form fields?

Does the student version of creative cloud have an educational watermark like other programs and can you install the CC on multiple PCs?

I am wanting to purchase the student version of CC to finish up work on my classes my senior year and through my Master's degree, I just want to insure whether or not the student CC has a watermark on projects?
Also will I be able to install CC on my laptop and my Desktop without causing an issue?

Error when opening FX (new or existing file): "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended: Could not complte your request because of a program error."

This randomly started happening. Every time I try to add an effect to a new file, or edit an effect on an existing file, I get this error...

Did you reset your Preferences and Photoshop tools. Photoshop Preferences are not removed with an un-install and an Install does not install preferences. Preferences are created for a user id when a user ID start Photoshop and there are no preferences for the user ID.

Could not complete your request because of a program error photoshop cs4

My first frustration right now is that I can't search the forums... anyone got an answer to that? on the right hand side (if I'm logged in) I type in a search for anything and it always shows no search results found! Why? is the search function not working?
Anyway, my problem is that when I try to save a multi-layered psd file into psd or jpg I get this error message: "Could not complete your request because of a program error."
What is causing it?
I checked for updates and PS is up-to-date. I restarted, and it worked great for about 3 saves (different pictures). (I'm basically running through some shots and just doing a quick levels and curves adjustment and running an action putting in my name watermark.)
After that quick edit and trying to save - same error message again.
It started suddenly yesterday - after having used PS for about 1.5 years without a problem. I haven't done any changes to it as far as I'm aware.
Any one seen this before, or have a solution to this?

Windows 7 Pro - 64-bit
12 GB Ram
750 GB OS hdd where PS is installed
2 TB Media drive where the files are being pulled up from/saved to.
Intel i7 x980 3.33 GHz
GeForce GTX 470 with 1280 MB dedicated memory

Did you update or change or plug-in or remove anything else on your computer just before it happened? Photoshop relies on other system libraries to do things and maybe one of those changed.
No, I did not change anything; I was editing pictures - from a quadding trip where they asked me to shoot for them - and suddenly I started getting the message on most pictures.
Hard drives are not nearly full. (.99 TB free on media drive and 588 GB free on OS {C} Drive)
scandisk error check? I probably need that.. (I've had some problems with BSOD and had the BIOS corrupted recently that I had to flash the BIOS again. Could that cause something like this?)
How do you reset preferences? Is it the Ctrl + Shift + Alt key immediately after PS starts? I did that and it didn't fix it.
Saving in odd location? No, I don't think so; I save to the same place I save other stuff and I have a solid directory base and I always follow the same procedures. I save back into the same folder I open the file from and save back to the same filename + "edit". That way I can compare side by side and have a backup copy of the file.
The only USB device plugged into the computer is a logitech wireless combo of keyboard and mouse. (And a wired USB keyboard that sits to the side and that I use only when the batteries in my wireless dies.
I can't think of anything that has changed that would cause PS to act like this.
If I can't get it working soon, I'll re-install. I have the Production Premium CS4 version - can I just reinstall PS or would I have to do the whole suite?

PS. I don't know if I was clear enough on what I'm doing: I open anywhere from 1 - 20 pictures at once, and then do a quick level or curve adjustment and save to a different file name. The confusing thing is - some pictures I have no problem with, but others - even though I do exactly the same thing - this error message comes up. I'd say about half of my 107 pictures from the quadding trip refused to save.
It almost makes it seem like some pictures are corrupt or something - and yet, I'd be really surprised to have soo many corrupted images suddenly.

Please help!!!! Unable to use 3D repousse Photoshop CS5 Extended (my system info is described below)
I tried almost everything that is available in Adobe library help, also re-installed programs as requested by Adobe support (suspected to get rid of me), it did not solve the problem.
I used to have 3D capabilities, and also crop tool worked well before (now it changes all layers when using crop even in background). My PC is same, nor I downloaded plugins or changed video cards (these things are too advanced for me!), also restored preferences many times.
My system makes automatic updates, reviewed graphics and adobe as recommended.
OpenGL settings is odd …only can access basic, other modes are not highlighted (normal or advanced).
ERRORS (for 3D Text)
1-“Your 3D scene now exceeds the limits of lights and/or textures for the video card’s hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. As long as the limits are exceeded, 3D rendering will be done in software only, and some features (e.g Repousse)will be disabled.”
2- “Your video card does not meet the requirements for hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. All 3D will be rendered with software only “
3-“ Could no complete the text layer command because of a program error”
ERROR (for object)
Open GL/GPU HARDWARE ACCELERATION IS CURRENTLY DISABLED. 3D WILL NOW BE RENDERED WITH SOFTWARE ONLY. TO ENABLE OPEN/GL ACCELERATION, GO TO PREFERENCES > PERFORMANCE TAB AND CHECK THE “ENABLE OPENGL GRAWING” CHECK BOX.
Is it possible that I have a GPU Sniffer? all these terms I have learned recently =)   but I have a healthy & capable graphic card and accepted by adobe standards.

thank you for replying...but it seems an easy answer again like one given by support....I had photoshop working perfectly before with same video card, I think in one project I clicked something in program (photoshop)that was not ready to correct it by itself... It should be available for the program to give warning several times to the user, I do not know what made Photoshop to disable OpenGL settings, and not be able to reverse action!!!!! How do I change a GPU sniffer? I an not a tech, all these things I just learned reading....had spent hundreds of hours....really dissapointed of Adobe and its support....it is not fair to sell an expensive program without support, it seems to me that I know now more than a live customer support.

Digital watermarking gif images

I ve writed a program which watermarks png and non-animated gif images .But there is a problem because we started to use animated gif images. How can we watermark animated gif images without corrupting animation of the image?

How to print specific pages of a pdf from a vb 2013 program using a print dialog

Hi. I am using the acrobat sdk to display pdfs from within a vb 2013 program, because the pdfs are large and we have developed indexes on certain columns. The indexes are stored in SQL tables. My program has a search window which allows the user to search for a value and displays all the pages on which this value appears in the indexed column in a listbox. By double-clicking on the desired value in the listbox, the user can go to the selected page and column. However, the user also needs to be able to highlight one or more of the pages in the listbox and print these pages. I could do this silently using AcroExchAVDoc.PrintPages, but the user also needs to have a print dialog displayed in order to possibly select a watermark to be printed on the pages. I also need to default the orientation of the pages depending on the document.
I have reviewed the sdk documentation and also searched in Google and on this site but have not found a way to do this. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi.
I did try using the printParams feature and it worked, but since I need to be able to print sets of non-consecutive pages, I end up having to bring up the print dialogue multiple times and have the user set watermarks each time.
I decided to just create a new pdf in a temp directory containing the selected pages and open this document in a new window. This works well and allows them to use the print button on the window to print, bringing up the print dialogue just once. However, since I need to open the document in a way that shows the print button, I am using OpenInWindowEx, with AV_DOC_VIEW, and the option PDUseBookmarks or PDUseThumbs, rather than PDUseNone. This displays a toolbar which also includes icons for creating a new pdf, deleting pages, etc. I do not really want to include these icons on the toolbar. Is there a way to remove unwanted icons from the toolbar, or make them invisible?

Date variable in watermark

I'm generating .pdf as an output option from a DITA environment, and want to set up a .pdf watermark (Acrobat Pro X) to add the current date each time I update the content. I don't mind doing this as a separate step, until I've had time to grapple with the documentation and find out whether the DITA tool can do it for me. Question, then: is there any way of using a variable in a watermark definition, or do I need to use a stamp instead?

Text- only watermark added with Tools > Pages > Edit page design > Watermark
In the Text box, today, I type 19 March 2014 14:00. If I want to use the same watermark tomorrow, I have to edit the date and time information by hand.
What I'm hoping for/curious about is a variable such as many programs use to pull in the system date. Even better, a variable to insert the Modified time-stamp from the document properties …

Is there a way to do batch watermark within iPhoto?

I often upload my photos to pBase using the excellent iPhoto2pBase plugin. But due to the growing issue of photo thefts on the web, I would like to watermark them first. After doing a search on this site, I found recomendations for iWatermark. It's a pretty cool little program but unfortunately it is a standalone and in order to use its batch processing feature, I have to export my photos out of iPhoto, do the watermarking and then re-import them.
I can set set iWatermark as the external editor for iPhoto but that would only allow one photo at a time to be watermarked. Does anyone know of a way to "batch watermark" within iPhoto?

If it's to upload to a site or use in another application, then iWatermark can mark the files in the folder you selected, resize them if needed and then save to a folder on the desktop for use. If that workflow will work for you then iWatermark will do the job.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it.
