Watermarking for Aperture's web gallery

I really like Aperture's web gallery feature but would like to make use of the watermark feature for those images. That way, if images are 'borrowed' there is still a reference to my website.
Any ideas on how this could be done? I'm guessing the only way is to edit in PS and add the watermark there but is it possible to do without leaving Aperture?

Make a new Web Export preset with a watermark, just like you would a regular Image Export preset.

Aperture Caption & Web Gallery

hi everyone,
I'm just beginning using the web galleries with Aperture.
Personally, I beleive that the best text to be shown beside each pictures would be the Caption field but someone at Apple have decided otherwise that this should be the picture file name. For me, file name are simply automatic numbers from my camera while I enter pertinent information in the Caption field.
I know, there is no way of setting this. *But today, I found that when I go into the RSS view of any gallery, beside each picture, I can read my Caption!* That's so weird of not being able to set this in the gallery view. I will ask for this simple but quite usefull feature of being able to set which information we want to show on picture...

I see... but you are talking about Aperture's web page while I'm talking about Aperture's web gallery. While the first one is a static web page, the second is using a more dynamic interface that can be used with .MAC. That's a new feature in Aperture 2.0.
Besides, this option of the T icon is EXACTLY what I would exept to have for Web Gallerie. It is still surprising for me that Apple haven't implemented this feature in both ways of publishing.

Adding title, dimensions, media, for art in web gallery

i'm a painter/sculptor, and would like to burn a web gallery or slide show of my work to cd to present to galleries, clients, etc. this looks like a great tool, with easy and clean templates.
while i can get a title of a piece to appear, i would also like dimensions and media to show, ie:
Arc
4" x 14" x 3"
acrylic and paper on wood
2007
is this possible? i could do it in Iview media pro under annotations i think, but working with that program at the time was a pain.
i would think photographers would like to enter info such as title, dimensions, what type of print, etc.
any help is appreciated.

Back from a long day at work and got round to investigating this.
Yes, I did have info in the Caption metadata for my images and it did show up in other galleries, just not the one I wanted. I started with the Flash gallery (default) and changed the background colour to white, added my own labels, etc. Ticking Title adds the photo title but ticking Caption does nothing.
I exported it anyway using just three photos and looked at the style.xml file in the styles folder (in the resources folder). Strangely, the behaviour to display the captions has been set false, even though I have ticked the option(!) Editing this to say true instead of false, saving the file and reopening the gallery now displays the caption. Weird.
There are actually two references to displaying the caption, the second one was already set to true. But if I specify I want the captions, why did LR set this attribute to false?
In any case, I created a new template using the default one and this works fine, so I'm not too fussed, just thought this might be a bug that others had experienced.

Custom Title Tags for html LR Web Gallery

I love LR html web galleries. They are great for me. I have one thing I have been trying to do for a little bit now with no success.
I want to have page titles for LR html Web Galleries reflective of the titles I give individual pictures in LR not the same generic web page title for the whole gallery. I'm not afraid to get in the code a start tweaking it, I am just completely lost in how to accomplish this. If a gallery has 50 pictures it would be too time consuming to go into each page and change the page title by hand.
The purpose would be for search engines to pick up each page with it's own specific title for each photo. What specifically would enable LR to build my galleries with individual titles for each page in the html web galleries? Thanks for your help everyone. Lightroom Rocks!

I tried switching <title>$metadata.siteTitle.value</title> to <title>$metadata.image.title</title> in the head.html file, but that just gave me a big error in LR when previewing the gallery.
I tried switching metadata.siteTitle.value to image.metadata.title in galleryInfo.lrweb file, but that did not work either.
I figure there must be a basic way to implement <title>Unique Photo Metadata Title</title> for each large photo html page in the Lightroom galleries, but I have not been able to figure it out. I assume I'm close, but since I'm not a coder like you I thought I would ask you. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I email a photo uploaded from my web gallery in Photoshop Lightroom, it disappears from the photo. What am I not doing? Thanks.

I got an error message about not being able to do this because the server was not found. I went to "help" and was told to install iphoto '08.
We have that ! Why would I need to install it?
I don't want to bother dh with this as he is about ready to throw the whole computer out as it is...so please somebody help!

Web Gallery not showing in Aperture's browser window.

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this. I create web galleries all the time and they work fine. For some reason when I create a new web gallery, instead of seeing the interface with the web preview (where you get the all the setting for customizing the web gallery and the export/publish buttons), I just see the image thumbnails in the Aperture browser. I even went to web galleries from old projects and is displaying the same way. Has anyone had this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

2) Where to modify the LR defalt galleries (coding) to center the logo
I really need a centered logo. Some of my photos have stock value, and I need a watermark over the center of the image to prevent web usage.

I use LR2Mogrify to add a watermark on export, check the add to catalog box on the export dialog and then put the watermarked copies into the web gallery.

Flash, Dreamweaver, or Fireworks for web gallery

I'm wanting to make a nice web gallery. I do not want to use
the "create web gallery" feature found in Photoshop or Fireworks
because I want to be able to customize my design more than what's
offered in those templates.
I'm at a loss as to what Fireworks is really used for in the
first place, but from digging around online it seems like maybe
it'd be helpful for making a web gallery (or maybe just the initial
stage of figuring out the design?)
What is the best software for creating a custom gallery? I'm
assuming Flash, but then I thought maybe I could pull it off with
Dreamweaver?

Dotmac published web gallery not showing up.

So I have now created 2 web galleries through Aperture 2. One shows up the other does not..
The URL it should be at is http://gallery.mac.com/cbchev68/100191 and it should be called Sushi Hunter.. The other one that is showing up is called Northwind Charters.
Im guessing there is some software bug here. If I go into Aperture -> Web Gallery -> Sushi Hunter. Then in the main window choose Web Gallery -> Visit Web Gallery, it opens Safari with the above URL and I get an error that the gallery does not exist.. What is even more interesting is that if I go into Aperture preferences, web gallery, it only shows the one gallery that actually shows up on the doc mac servers. I have to assume it is querying the dot mac servers for this data, as there is a 5 second lag or so before this list is populated.
Its as though Aperture created the web gallery, but then never actually uploaded the images..
Anyone else seen this?

Well its definitely a software bug, I just created another new album with a slightly different name and it looks like the photos are now uploading and properly showing up.

.Mac Web Gallery - How to change key photo and order or galleries?

How can I choose which photo is the key photo for each .Mac web gallery? Also, how can I re-arrange the order of the web galleries?

I would really love to see a solution for this too ! Unfortunately I think apple just didn't implement it in Aperture. My .Mac web gallery is about events in my life and it doesn't make any sense to have it sorted alphabetically...
Not being able to simply set a key photo is really annoying too.
The worst is that these two functions are available in iPhoto. All they had to do was copy and paste...

Aperture and .Mac Gallery

Hi there! I downloaded the trial version of Aperture 2 on my G5 Dual 2.0Ghz. With my X800 XT it sounds to work faster the the first version, but I have got some troubles with .Mac gallery. I have installed Little Snitch on my G5, and when I run Aperture, it asks me the authorization for logging to .Mac gallery. Well, I allow the connection, but Aperture becomes unusable, absolutely slow. From the monitor network of little snitch I see that there is always an exchange of data from Aperture to .Mac gallery. This strange connection is always active even if I don't have any .Mac gallery in my library, or when the .Mac gallery is already published. I already checked that if I don't allow the connection, no data are sent ore received and the speed of Aperture is good. Can anyone tell me how it's possible that?

I've been researching the same issue. I have a .mac account and have been playing with iPhoto '08, creating albums and publishing them on my .dot mac Web Gallery. I love the features of the Web Gallery (syncing, downloading pics, other people uploading pics, subscribing). All of these features at the touch of the Web Gallery button at the bottom corner of iPhoto have made me a Mac Convert!
That said, I like the "expanded" features offered in Aperture (referencing to masters, editing, seemless editing with Photoshop, better templates for albums and web stuff). However, I recently created an "Album", a new "Web Gallery" from that album and then clicked the "Publish to .mac" button. Voila! It sent it to Homepage in .mac instead of "My Gallery" (the one I set up via iPhoto). Both are visible in my .mac account, but there should be a way to publish my Aperture album/web gallery to "My Gallery" instead of Homepage. I'm trying to avoid importing the Aperture photos into iPhoto because it copies them into iPhoto creating a nasty disk space issue for me. In fact, that's one of the major reasons I wanted to use Aperture (so I could simply "reference" the photos on an external drive).
Let me know if you hear of any solutions.

Limiting Web Gallery Viewers

Under the settings for each Web Gallery, I see that you can limit the gallery to people who have the correct Name and Password. Can you only create one Name and Password for each Web Gallery? Or can you create multiple Names and Passwords for the same Web Gallery.
Let say I have a Web Gallery titled "See My Pictures" and I have two friends that I would like to share the gallery with. Does Aperture 2 limit you to only 1 Name/Password for each of my friend? Or can I create a separate Name/Password for each friend (thus creating 2 Name/Password combinations)?

hmmm... doesn't seem to be answered for me. I agree that you can select either Album viewable by: Everyone / Only me / user1 / user2 / usern / public... this does suggest i can't allow 2 or more users to access this (unless i give them all the same password.
Does anybody know how we can allow multiple users to access one gallery via password?

How to restore a Web Gallery from my backu

I noticed today that one of my Web Galleries was gone. I'm sure I didn't delete it. I entered into Time Machine while still in iPhoto '08 and stepped back in time until the missing Web Gallery showed up. Apparently it got "deleted" a few days ago but it's there in the backup. Trying to restore the web gallery attempts to restore the actual photo files which is Not what I need. I need to restore the little Gallery "playlist" thing in the Source Pane on the left.
I dug through my backups on my time machine disk and found the backed up iPhoto Library when the gallery still existed and after opening the package contents and looking through the AlbumData.xml file in Text Edit I could see that, yes, the code for my missing Web Gallery is there.
Here's my problem... How do I get that back into iPhoto???
I tried cutting and pasting the relevant code into today's current .xml file and then re-opening iPhoto. No go. In fact the code I pasted in is removed again by iPhoto.
Next I tried replacing the entire .xml file with the back up version. No go. iPhoto again removes the code for the missing Web Gallery.
I'm at a loss.
And I'm a little worried that a web gallery can just up and go missing. And that there is no way to get it back from a backup.
What can I do??

Don:
Time machine will not restore just the database file. You will have to restore the entire library. BUT you can have it keep the current library (it is renamed iPhoto Library (original). Then take the Library6.iPhoto file out of the restored library, put it in the original library (make sure you've not imported or deleted any photos since that backed up version was made) and use the original library again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

CS6 Mac- How to disable metadata from showing in web gallery???

Does anyone have a way to stop metadata from displaying in my web gallery main image display? I am trying to create a simple html web gallery of some images from within Bridge output module. Thumbnails look ok, but when I click on one and get the large image, at the bottom of the page it is displaying all sorts of info that I don't want showing!
There does not seem to be any way of turning this off.
I am on a mac 10.9.5, Bridge CS6

I think part of my problem is that I was working from Nikon RAW files and converting those to a web gallery. It's been a while since I made a gallery in Bridge, but as I recall now I used to shoot RAW + JPG and use the jpg images for output to web gallery.
I just did this your way and it worked fine. I never used the Export menu before. Does it automatically default to JPG? I don't see any options to do tiff, PSD etc. Obviously jpg is what I need for web, but wondered if output file kind could be changed in export somewhere. I suppose this is what Actions are for. Adobe could make this simpler by having a check-box in the Web output that gives the option of including metadata or not.
Anyway thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. Been hitting my head against the wall about this.
