Wather Channel local on the 8's - Tucson, AZ

I live in Tucson Arizona. I recently moved from an area serviced by Cox to an area serviced by Comcast. I had access to both systems (still had both houses) until about a month ago. Cox still has Local on the 8's for the Tucson area. Comcast Local on the 8's starts in the northeast and give a rundown of temperatures and forecasts across the country.  The closest the report get to Tucson is Phoenix which is 120 miles north. Pretty much useless since the weather between the 2 areas can be completely different at time. Is there a way to program your actual city in to get local weather? One of the satellite companies is starting to look better!! Thanks!

According to this article, it probably has something to do with the type of Weather Star system that Comcast is using. Also, the reason why you're getting the weather report from Phoenix is probably because that's where Comcast's headend (the Satelite farm that recieves the signal from The Weather Channel) is located at and then transmits the signal over their trunk lines to your locaton in Tucson. There is currently no way that I know of that you can change the location. Although, going to satelite might look better, with satelite you only get The Weather Channel's national feed. You do not get any local on the eight's with satelite. My late father was a subscriber to Direc TV for about 16 years before he passed away and he always used to complain to me about not being able to get the locals on the 8's either. I used to always tell him to use the Internet instead. He had his Internet and phone through Charter. Since you live in Tucson, your best bet for local weather is the Internet with either Comcast's local site for Tucson or The National Weather Service's Tucson office site. The National Weather service is considered the horse's mouth where even most TV and radio station meteorologists get their radar feeds and forecasts from. Here is The Weather Channel's forecast site for Tucson also.

  • The Weather Channel: Local on the 8's in HD

    I guess I should be happier than most, the SD Weather Channel gets a Washingon Metro local-on-the-eights insertion.
    However the HD version of the weather channel gets the generic national version.
     What gives?

    The HD version only supplies a generic version of the local forecasts at this time. This is what the Weather Channel says about this issue;
    "The technology to produce a detailed Local on the 8s in High Definition is currently under development. We expect to make available a completely re-designed Local on the 8s in HD with a new look and new content in early 2009. In the interim, you will receive the same Local on the 8s that you have been getting in standard definition from your existing provider."

  • Weather Channel Local on the 8's

     I live in Peoria, IL and I only recieve Local on the 8's information on the SD channel.  I do not recieve the Local on the 8's on the HD channel, is there a reason for this?

    The HD local on the eights is in slow deployment across ComcastLand.  It needs equipment upgrades to make it happen.  There are many posts on the subject on the forum.
    Many area's have had it for a year or more.  It will probably happen "eventually".

  • Weather Channel Missing Local On The 8's and local weather info.

    I Have rebooted my box twice and still only get generic/national weather with no local info or maps for two days. According to the Weather Channel: "Your cable provider may be experiencing a technical problem with The Weather Star computer. The Weather Star is a piece of equipment located at your cable system that generates the Local On The 8s graphics for your area. " http://dw.weather.com/interact/contactus/localforecast.html Can someone please fix the box that generates the Local On The 8s graphics for the Claremont, NH area (03743)? Thank you!

     Well, it's either coincidence or someone is really on the ball - either way the local came back just 10 minutes after I posted the message above. Thanks!

    Apologies for any confusion we may have caused.
    Currently, the DTAs (small boxes) are limited to viewing (up to and including) Digital Starter content.
    Our DTAs don't yet support full strength encryption like full cable boxes do. Full-strength encryption is currently required for authorizing premium channels (like HBO) on a DTA.
    DTAs that we have deployed support "privacy mode". This is a limited fixed passkey form of content protection.
    We have no current plans to activate full-strength encryption, but if we were to do that in the future it would be done in a way that would be in compliance with FCC rules, including obtaining any necessary FCC waivers.
    Some additional background at the link below (the article is from 2012 but still a good primer):

    We can certainly arrange to swap your DTA for a full cable box. Please give us a call at 1-800-COMCAST or stop by one of the the local service centers below to swap your box.

  • How can I automatically control the channel selection on the data logger

    I am an in-experienced use with a simple system which measures and displays temperature from 16 thermocouples. Not all 16 thermocouples are always connected at once and those that aren't are blanked off from view. I would also like to use the Advanced Data Logger VI to log the measurements but would like to have the logger only record or display the thermocouples that are connected. Un-connected channels give a signal of 1264 degrees so I can use a comparator to give a boolean output to switch them off. Can anyone please tell me how to do this.
    Also, I need to expand the VI to read all 16 channels instead of the current 8. Any help would be appreciated

    Mike,
    Unfortunately I couldn't get the reference of the example you mention, probably you may want to add it as an attachment so the person who decides to answer this question knows exactly which example you are describing. So for the part of making visible/invisible some of the channels I attached an example that I built for demonstrating this feature, simply open the VI and run it, if you want one of the channels or plots from the graph to be invisible just click in the push button that corresponds to it. Switch to the block diagram and review the use of property nodes, using the property of visible.

  • How to determine which locale uses the specific process

    Hi,
    I would like to get to know which locale uses the specific process.
    I mean that when the process starts it should use the current system locale.
    Where I can check that information which locale are used by the running process?
    I ask because I would like to make sure that for example when the locale are French or Japanese the process/deamon use the current locale.
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
    currently we are in the process of consolidating our databases. One of the neccessary steps is to figure out which user connects to the database at all. That's easy, we implemented a logon-trigger and log the collected information into a separate table.It could have been even easier by turning on the built-in audit feature.
    If a user with objects (e.g. tables, views, procedures) exists - but this user never connects to the database - does that automatically mean that these objects are not used at all? No need to say that this is not true. But how can we figure out if a connected user has selected an object of this user?audit would be a good choice.
    Our porblem is that we have alot of schemas in our database - but the developers don't know if this schema is not used by an application or not (sad but true).Not sure what developer will do with used/not used application.
    To enable auditing would be one choice to figure out if an object was ever used or not. What's wrong in auditing ?
    Even though audit may have a footprint on performance, that would probably be less costly than any custom solution.

  • Using a PhaseListener in order to set the locale on the UIViewRoot

    Hello,
    I am wondering which is the best phase to set the locale on the UIViewRoot...
    I don't know whether to choose the "update model values" or the "invoke application" phase and whether to set it before or after the phase.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks in advance,
    J.

    I'd say at any time AFTER the restore view and BEFORE the render response phase should be fine. I cannot be 100% sure as I've never actually done this. I would experiment and find out if I were you, only way to be really sure.
    I'm assuming you want to do this to only have to put this code in one place. Its not an option to use f:loadBundle in a facelets template that you share among all your pages? Then you don't have to muck about with phase listeners.

  • How to display the max channel value on the report automatially?

    Hi all,

    How do i go about it?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Jason,
    There is an easy way to do this, and there is a more involved way to do this. I am hoping the "easy" way will solve your question, so I don't have to think about the solution that involves a little more effort:
    Starting with DIAdem 2010 there is a way to add properties to the legend (see image below) of any axis system. What I did for this example was to simply add the legend for the 2D graph (that's a simple check box in the "Curve and Axis definition" dialog, and then dragged the maximum value of any channel onto the legend. It will automatically add a new column to the legend table and display the maximum (or any other channel property) in the legend. This of course works separately for each axis system on a page.
    Starting with DIAdem 2011 there is a new "Curve Snippet" function that allows to create tables such as the one shown in the image below. Please have a look at the DIAdem 2011 example called "2D Tables as Legend and Legend for Axis System Labeling" to see how this was done, it's a little more effort, but it also adds extra flexibility:
    Do either of these look like a workable solution for you?

  • How to display multi-channel image in the 'proxy'?

    There're many examples to show how to display composite channels in the 'proxy'. But I don't find any example to show how to display multi-channel image in the 'proxy'. I found that I can use PSPixelOverlay to display alpha channel data like this:
    int nSpotChannel = gChannelCount - 4;
    PSPixelOverlay* overlay = new PSPixelOverlay[nSpotChannel];
    for(int i = 0; i < nSpotChannel; i++){
           if( i != (nSpotChannel - 1) )
                 overlay[i].next = overlay + i + 1;
           else
           overlay[i].next = NULL;
           overlay[i].data = gChannelData + (4 + i) * nPlaneBytes;
           overlay[i].rowBytes = gProxyRect.Width() * gDocDesc->depth / 8;
           overlay[i].colBytes = 1;
           overlay[i].r  = 230;
           overlay[i].g = 161;
           overlay[i].b = 174;
           overlay[i].opacity = 255;
           overlay[i].overlayAlgorithm = kStandardAlphaOverlay;
    pixels.pixelOverlays = overlay;
    Then, Seeing red part, it will trigger a new problem, that is how to get the color value of the alpha channel by plung-in itself? It seems that no channel color value info is in FilterRecord.
    If you have other solution, please tell me. Many thanks!

    This is what I've been doing - was just curious if there was a way to see a more cohesive image.
    If the individual EQ plugins are in fact the answer, is there any way to smooth how the Analyzer displays? The image I posted above, all of the tonal curves are very smooth. The analyzer tool shows a lot of peaks and valleys within the overall curve and it's hard to pinpoint each instrument's "sweet spot." Vocals for example are very hard to spot.

    Why can I not use the channel name, which is obtained from the function of DAQmx Task, as the input of the channel name for the function of Get Channel Information of DAQ?

    Not a lot of details here, but my guess is this isn't working for you because you are wiring in the task to the Active Channels Property and not the actual Channel Name. I have attatched a screenshot of what I believe you are trying to do. The Task has 2 channels in it, so I need to index off one of the channels and wire it into the active channels input of the Channel Property node. Then I can read information about that channel

  • What channels are in the HD queue?

    Can anyone lay let us know what the HD queue for FiOS looks like?  Now that FSC has been rolled out, what other HD channels are in the works?
    And, an entirely different question:
    Has there been any talk about doing away with Standard Definition in the future?  With DVR boxes now capable of converting HD signals so that they may be played in a wide screen format on SD televisions, aside from the cost of equipment, what is holding back this change?
    Solved!

    Not yet. They are still working on it. They are wanting to upgrade to an IP based version of the TV which is still being worked on. The other thing needed to make it work is the new 1.9 IMG. That part just started rolling out. Areas of NY are currently being rolled out with the rest of the country to follow over the next couple of months. In all likelihood, all the upgraded needed will not be ready before the end of the year at the earliest. That would be my guess anyway. Very little information about all this is forthcoming from Verizon. But based on what little info is available, I'd expect it to take a while longer.

  • What channels are in the 11.99 Spanish Language package?

    What channels are in the 11.99 Spanish Language package?
    They are no longer listed in the new format channel guide. They used to be.
    I just ordered the "Spanish Language package", but cannot tell what I bought!
    Only thing I now find under "Plans" is this:
    Spanish Language * 27 of the most popular channels like Univision and Galavision * Best news, sports and entertainment from several Spanish-speaking countries
    but Univision and Galavision already come with the Premier package. Now that I say that, I don't see "Premier Package" anymore, either.It's on my bill!
    Ok, postpone that for now, current question is: what 27 extra spanish language channels do I no get for my $11.99?

  • Solution to get the locale of the browser

    I believe that other people will have the same problem as mine.
    So I'll post the solution to get the browser's locale.
    First:
    / / Get the full URL
    var test: String = ExternalInterface.call (window.location.toString ");
    Second:
    if (teste.indexOf ("locale = pt")!=- 1) (
        return 'pt_BR';
    ) Else if (teste.indexOf ("locale = en")!=- 1) (
        return 'en_US;
    That is all
    Good weekend to all

    Depends a lot exactly what locale you need.
    window.location is good if you pass a locale as part of the URL. But that is not the browser locale (although it might come from the browser if someone got it from the browser there at some point and added it to the URL)
    The locale that is most locale for the user is the one that he specified in the browser preferences
    (http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-lang-priorities)
    That info is part of the HTTP request header (HTTP Accept-Language).
    And that is only accessible server side. So you will need something that runs server side (JSP, ASP, PHP, CGI, whatever) and to return it somehow (for instance somewere in the html page).
    Here is a quick reference on how to do that: http://www.developershome.com/wap/detection/detection.asp?page=readHeader
