Wating for Logic Board

Hello. I'm in the Dominican Republic
My iBook display went dead in march 2005. A pass thru the discussions site pointed me to the logic board problem. We only have one AASP in Santo Domingo and it took three months to get the spare, but when they put it in, that one came damaged directly from Apple, so the AASP sent for a new one right away. That was a year from now. They have given me every excuse in the book and keep making me promises. I miss my baby. HELP, what can I do?

Unfortunately, 1-800 numbers don't work from outside the United States. You might be better off calling Apple Public Relations at (408) 974-2042 and then asking to talk to an "operator". The operator should be able to connect you with Apple Customer Relations from there. I've never seen anyone here post an actual phone number for Apple Latin America, or I'd offer that number. It's also not listed on Apple's regular contact list.

  • How to send in for logic board / HD repair?

Not long before my trial AppleCare expired, my MacBook Pro started doing very strange things, freezing, crashing, making grinding noises, etc. After reporting the results of Disk Utility and a hardware scan to AppleCare, they gave me a case number and said that I most likely needed both a logic board replacement and a hard drive replacement, and that if I had further trouble, to take it in for repair.
Well, the local Apple Store's Genius Bar has been entirely booked up for two days now, and as my AppleCare trial has expired (though I'm under warrantee), I can't call Apple about it.
Can I simply walk in and drop it off? Do I mail it to Apple myself? I've never had to send a machine in to Apple, but it's seemingly not as straightforward as I thought.... how long might I expect my turnaround time to be?

... as my AppleCare trial has expired (though I'm under warrantee), I can't call Apple about it.
There's really nothing "trial" about it, although I can see how it could be perceived that way. What expired was your 90 days of free phone support for any issue with your MBP, but since, as you know, you still have a one year hardware warranty, you still have free phone support for warranted hardware issues.
See Is phone support and warranty service free? for details.
As Kappy indicates, it's a very straightforward process. If Apple determines that you do have a hardware defect, they'll arrange for a shipper to drop off a shipping box and take it away when you've packed your MBP, and then they'll ship it back to your door when the repair is complete.

  • Sent 1.83 for logic board replacement?

I haven't seen anyone saying they sent in their 1.83 for a logic board replacement. I was wondering if they are putting the 2.0ghz version in the 1.83s when they are sent it or are they sending them back with 1.83s.
    Thanks in advance.

Nope... I just sent in my 1.83 for repair, and the MLB is an identical 1.83. In my experience, Apple keeps well enough stock of models going back beyond the AppleCare 3-year mark, so you'll get exactly the model you had before. (I've spoken with people who have iPods going back 3-4 generations who send in for repair or exchange, and still receive the same model.)

  • Force quiting apps on iphone bad for logic board???

While visit the apple store this weekend in regards to our phone not working they asked if we double tap the home and slide up on our apps to close them, of force quit the application.  We responded yes and were told never to do this.  However on previous visits we were told to do this because multiple apps will drain the battery and slow the phone down.  I would love to know what the correct answer to this is and understand why we would be told two different things.

Closing apps does not harm anything.
Whoever told you that is mentally challenged.

the problem is it not working on startup (startup with blue , gray or black screen)
already go to apple service center, they said i have to replace the new Logic Board 2.0Ghz.
but i would like to replace to 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 Logic Board.
my question why can not replace 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7.
you know why because it bulit in USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps).
    Many Thank,
    Manthou Khorn

The 2011 MBPs do not have USB 3 Ports.
Check with iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com for logic boards for your MBP.  They will have prices and installation instructions.
    Ciao.

  • Is CPU part of logic board in iBook?

I'm having my logic board replaced on my iBook G3 by apple and I'm hoping the CPU is part of the logic board so I can maybe have it upgraded to a G4. Am I dreaming agian? thanks
    h

If you're machine is in for logic board repair, Apple replaces it with it's corresponding Logic Board, therefore you will not be upgraded to a G4 CPU in your G3 machine.
Example: My 900MHz iBook went in for LB repair, and it came back a 900MHz G3 just like it went in, same case with any iBook.

  • What logic board do I need

Hi there, I got my brothers old macbook and was thinking of fixing it. I know its the logic board because we had it tested when it failed for him in the past and for some reason I've resurectted the idea of getting it going again. Its a A1226. Now, I've been looking for logic boards for prices just to get a ball park and Im willing to risk it. However,  I want to make sure I get the correct logic board. I need to somehow fire this thing up so I know exactly which processer it was. I'd run the serial # but the under belly is so scratched that I cant read it unless I find a magnifying glass. Any how, any advice on how to find out the correct logic board for this laptop. Would I have to open it up?  THanks for any help.

Since your specs at the bottom say 1.5GHz, you need the logic board that goes with the 1.5GHz 12-inch PowerBook G4. You can buy these on eBay or from resellers that have them in stock.
Logic boards along with LCD screens are the most expensive parts, of course, since they are the most crucial to its operation.
    Don't buy a 1.33Ghz, a 1.0GHz, or an 867MHz logic board.
Apple has a flat-rate repair, but it is not necessarily cheaper. Depending on the condition of your PowerBook, inside and outside, the flat-rate may be bumped up based on "tiers." The flat-rate costs about $300 for "everything" (parts and labor) if all checks out and is approved by the Genius Bar and the subsequent techs at the Service Center.
If there is an issue, it might cost more. Those, I don't have information on. (Price-wise).
If you're gung-ho and want to replace it yourself, you have that option. Or, choose your own service center to do it for you. (TechRestore.com, MacService.com, etc.-- even a local "mom and pop" shop in your city).

  • Has anyone here had their logic board replaced yet?

I am going to take my MBP to my local Apple store tomorrow to hopefully get the logic board replaced due to the whine and some crashes. Has anyone had the board replaced? Does it fix the issue? I am just wondering if it is dead silent after the switch...

Yes, I just received mine back today for logic board replacement. It did get rid of the whine, I must say that apple's service was first calss. I placed a call last Wednesday, received a shipping box next day, prepaid I might add. DHL picked up the box on Friday, apple service center received, repaired and shipped it back on Saturday. Amazing, never experienced this kind of turn-around on anything.
    Thanks Apple

  • Can you tell if your MacBook Pro has latest revision logic board??

is there any way to tell if your MacBook Pro has latest revision logic board??

I'm awaiting the same thing, also in the U.K. The service center told me that they've had many of these repairs, and that there is a substantial backorder for logic boards in the U.K. I was told that it could be 6-8 weeks, which is absolutely appalling. I think that's an intolerable amount of time to repair a brand new, quite expensive computer.

  • Logic Board Replacement

my ibook is pretty much dead. it won't turn on while plugged in or while running on battery. i've been looking for logic boards on the internet, but are there any online stores you would recommend? thanks!

Have you tried the suggestions in the Apple Knowledge Base article Troubleshooting portables that won't turn on or start up?
You can find the closest Apple Authorized Service Provider(s) by entering your Zip Code in the box on this page:
    http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service.html
DT & T Computer Services in Fremont, California offer a repair service that's often cheaper than buying one and installing it yourself. Maybe you could talk a local AASP into meeting (or beating) DT & T's price.
You also may want to try posting in the iBook G4 Forum.
You have posted in the iBook G3 (Dual USB) Forum.

  • Where can i buy a NEW logic board for my macbook pro 2012?

My video card has recently failed, in this model video card is sticked to logic board.
Does anyone know where i can buy a NEW logic board? Its a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro

"Where" questions are more easily answered if you give your approximate location. Especially important if you live in the US because there is a low-cost repair option for which you can ask.
If you are out of warranty and you live in the US, the most cost-effective solution is a depot repair. Instead of fixing the computer in an Apple Store, it is sent to a central refurbishment center and they fix anything that's wrong (other than damage to the case and/or display) for a flat fee of around US$325. It takes about a working week but it is worth it. All the posts here from people who have availed themselves fo this option were glowing.

There are a lot of MacBook Pros with the model # A1286 - which year is your model (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011")?
The only place that I know that you might could score a specific logic board is www.ifixit.com. They may be able to ship to your hotel.

  • Any suggestion for a damaged logic board rather than buy a new computer

Any suggestions for a damaged logic board rather than buying a new computer

The most frequent RAM vendor recommendations are Crucial.com and MacSales.com (OWC).
With respect the logic board, you could ask Apple about a "Fixed Price Repair" which will generally repair everything that is wrong with a Mac.

    Hey Clintonfrombirmingham
I called Apple technical support in Denmark, but with no positive reply.
She couldn't do anything, and said that They had sent a recall Email about the problem and with their offer to repair the Macbook Pro, but I'd never recieved an Email about the problem. She wasn't in power to make an exception. It can't be true that i paid a lot of money, for a product that can't barely stand on its own feets, Apple didn't tell me that the product I was about to buy, would restart every 5 minute. and now when  they know the problem, they wont repair it? it just don't make sense for me. If a car seller discovers that all the brakes in a car he had sold, will crash after some years he will call all the cars back to repair no mater what. i just don't understand how Apple will make good service for their custumers, by extending the warranty from 2 to 3 years, but wont take the computers there is a little bit to old, 4 months will make the difference. i can't believe it.
    What can i do now?
    best regards Oskar
