.wav file attachments in email no longer play

Up until yesterday, on my iPad mini, if I got a voice message .wav file as an attachment in my email, I could open it right from the message and listen to it. Now when I try to do so, the screen to play the message shows up for a second, then jumps back to the email message.  I tried to listen to the message from my Xfinity account in Safari and got a black screen with a speaker symbol crossed out.
Could it be that my phone provider Comcast changed the encoding so that the .wav files are no longer compatible with mu iPad? (They still work on my iMac.) I am not aware of my making changes to the device or software that could cause this.
Thanks for any assistance on this.

Hey,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
To better assist you, what is the audio codec of the of the .wav file? And can you please provide the software version of the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone?
On a side note, I did some testing here with .wav voice mail email attachments and was able to play the file, so this may be an issue with the type of .wav file.
Thanks.

  • Email wav file attachments

I receive email from my work voicemail that sends wav audio attachments, but I can't seem to play them. they are adpcm codec files. is there an available player for these? (when I try to play them I get the message that they are corrupted files, but they aren't) I recently switched to the n95 from a Palm Treo where I had an app installed (mVoicemail) that allowed me to "view" the attachment in their player - is there anything like this out there?

These wav files are from my corporate exchange server...so I would thought they be typical wav files...my quicktime can play them on my MAC at home without adding any special codexes....and I tried a test by putting it in my itunes...and it plays in itunes on my iphone without any problem...so don't think that is it....I think they have it restricted somehow.

  • Unable to open a .wav file attached to email.

When I click on an attached .wav file in an email it launches a player of some sort, appears to load the file, then displays the error "There was an error playing the file."
According to the tech. specs, .wav files are supposed to be compatible.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I was able to play a WAV sent to me via email. I have Vonage and it sends voicemails to my email as WAV files; these files work fine for me.

  • Cannot play .wav files attached to email

I see on page 50 of the iPhone manual that .wav files are supported, however, they do not play. The error I get is "this movie format not supported". Does anyone have an answer that will help me?
    Thanks!

did you find a resolution for this? I have the same issue on my business wav email accounts, but my home wav email account works fine.

  • How to determine time value of a .wav file in real time as it plays?

    Hi all.
I need to build a vi in which a .wav sound file is represented in a Waveform graph, and at the same time, I want to play that file, and have a vertical cursor line running along the Waveform graph, in order to have a visual representation of where the sound track is, in terms of time.
Making the .wav file to appear graphicaly on a Waveform graph was an easy task to do, but then, I was´nt able to extract the time information of that .wav file, at the same time that this file is being played.
This is a very common situation in music players, video players etc, where some kind of graphical artifact, represents in real time where the track is while it plays.

Hi, this is the first ActiveX control I have played with but its really cool.
    I read this first: -
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmplay10/mmp_sdk/iwmpcontrolsinterface.asp
Which covers "The IWMPControls interface provides a way to manipulate the playback of a media item."
    Then built the attached sample.
It should now be straight forward to attach the position information shown to a graph control cursor postion.
You will need to set a file of your own choosing in the VI first.
Let us all know if this is what you wanted.

  • Opening an email from Vonage .wav file in my email

My vonage account sends me an email notification when I have a Vonage voicemail, adn included is a .wav file of the actual message. What can I do to listen to this .wav voicemail from my iPhone? Help please.
    thanks,
    Maury

Here is a third party app note showing which .wav implementations are playable on the iPhone

Unfortunately, the G.711 format is widely used for telephony and voicemail and currently does not play on the iPhone. I encountered this when my AT&T home voicemail would not play when forwarded to my AT&T exclusive iPhone. (so much for corporate compatibility)
One workaround is to forward messages to www.iphoneconvert.com. This service changes the file format and automatically forwards to the iPhone.
Hopefully, Apple will address the needed G.711 audio support in software 2.0 (July 2008) or in a future update. This would eliminate the need for the extra forwarding workaround.

  • IPhone 4 .wav file attachments

Is there anyway to open .wav file (audio) attachments in Mail?

It should play as apparently .wav is supported:
Audio formats supported: AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV
But, as a mail attachment perhaps not:
Viewable document types: .jpg, .tiff, .gif (images); .doc and .docx (Microsoft Word); .htm and .html (web pages); .key (Keynote); .numbers (Numbers); .pages (Pages); .pdf (Preview and Adobe Acrobat); .ppt and .pptx (Microsoft PowerPoint); .txt (text); .rtf (rich text format); .vcf (contact information); .xls and .xlsx (Microsoft Excel)

  • Wav files created in Logic won't play on I-tunes

I recently recorded some songs in Logic, bounced them to a wav file and tried to open & play it in I-tunes (I have the latest I-tunes)...when I click on the file to open it in i-tunes, the i-tunes main window appears, but nothing plays & the song is not on their. Also when I drag the files to the i-tunes window, nothing happens. Any suggestions?

No, these files are 16bit...I had this same problem 2 days ago, and after re-mixing several times, I finally got one to open in i-tunes, but I've never had this problem before.

  • WAV File Burned to CD as Audio Plays SLOW

    Hello!
I recorded a set of mine (I'm a DJ) using Stanton Final Scratch. The file is a WAV. I copied it to iTunes, then burned it as an audio CD. When I play the CD, it's slow, as in a 45 playing at 33.
I can play the file in iTunes, but as soon as I burn it, it's slow. Same thing if I convert the file to say an MP3. I can convert to Apple Lossless, but then if I burn that, same problem.
    HELP!!!

Those are quite some encoder settings! I'm actually surprised you can play the files at all in iTunes.
If I had such files, I would probably resort to using something like Audacity to export the files to "normal" WAVs, using the settings I mentioned in my previous post (no floating point, etc.).
Anyway, we're on the right track, as the problem is in the properties of your source files.
EDIT: I presume you used Traktor FS to create the WAV files, so why not see if it lets you export the same files directly to more compliant WAV files you can use in iTunes?

  • IPhoto pictures as file attachments in email

Does anyone know how to attach picture files from iPhoto in an email. No matter what I try, the picture gets imbedded in the email instead of as a file attachment. I am new to Apple and Mac having done Windows all my life. Thank you.

If you Control click on the photos you can select Display as Icon. But that only affects your email client and not the recipient's. If the recipient's email client is set to not display photos the photos will show as icons. You don't have control over their client.
The only way to have the photos not be displayed is to export them out of iPhoto and zip/compress them by Control-clicking and selecting the "Compress ..." option.
The recipient will then download and unzip the file to get the photo files.

  • A video .MOV file attached to email will not play. I have QT 7.7 installed

A short video taken on an IPhone and emailed to my PC will not play on the pc although it does on my IPad. The playback frame appears but displays only flashing colours. I recently reinstalled QT 7.7

Hi and thank you. That worked "just like that". I'm very grateful, this is a great facility.

  • Wav file in email won't play

I got an email with a brief wav file ( telephone message) and they always play on iPhone, but wouldn't play on iPad. Why?

Are you sure you did download the entire message? The built-in media player (QucikTime) should play WAV files and no third-party apps should be required.
    See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3652515?start=0&tstart=0
Nevertheless, if you in no way can make it work, let me know and I compile a full list of WAV-capable third-party players (there are a lot of them).

  • .wav files not playing after upgrade to IOS 7.1

My company's email system sends .wav fils to our email.  Since the upgrade to IOS 7.1, the .wav files are garbled and staticy.  Anyone have any info on known bugs affecting .wav files?
    thanks

ADd this to the ever growing list of issues with apple devices ( note the first two letters capitalized?).
i Can no longer play any downloaded .wav files either! And I've just restored my iPad, yadda, yadda!
IT won't be long  now and my iPad will be totally useless! Honestly not a day goes by anymore where my ipad and phone don't give me some sort of trouble.
using safari it constantly locks up, resets my session , reboots the whole ipad, radio buttons on pages May or may not work and the list goes on!
i Recall a day when I used to tell people if they wanted an easy to use bullet proof computer that was handicapped ,but stable to buy Apple. That is no longer the case and even with the stringent controls Apple puts on developers of Apple apps, Apple is losing its appeal. Actually for me, that time has already come. Heck if I can't even use this $1000 device to do so,etching as simple as surf the web, then what good is it for anything? ( that was something spelt correctly twice).

  • Playing Wav files through bluetooth

I receive Wav files as email attachments.  I would like to play them through my bluetooth when connected.  Or, at least play them through the speaker as a default instead of through the handset.
    Is this doable?

Hello, I am having the same problem.  We have a Curve 8330 with a Jabra T5330 bluetooth device.  The device works great when using it with the phone, but we use Unified Messaging for our voicemail and need to listen to .wav files delivered via email.  These .wav files do not come through the bluetooth device.  Do we need a different headset (one that supports stereo perhaps) or is something configured incorrectly on the Blackberry?  Thanks in advance!

  • ITunes can no longer read WAV files that QuickTime still can

    Hello,
I don't known what happened, but iTunes doesn't want to read some of my WAV files anymore. The strangest thing is that QuickTime still does read them. But when I double-click on the track in iTunes, it moves immediately to the next one in the list.
Here are some of the details about the WAV files given by iTunes:
    WAV
    64kbps
    16'000 kHZ
    Mono
    4-bits
    DVI IMA
Thanks in advance for your insights

Yes, I its low-quality voice recording.
When I try to convert one of these WAV files to MP3, I get an error message that says that iTunes can either not read from or write to the disk.
Something must have changed in an update to iTunes. I was sent such a WAV file by email a while ago; at the time, I had managed to convert it to MP3 using iTunes. I dug up this WAV file from my email archive, and now iTunes cannot convert it to MP3 nor play it anymore.
    Thanks for your insight.
