WAV files resynch every time iPod is connected despite no changes to files

Folks
I think the title pretty much explains my issue. Every time I plug my iPod Classic into iTunes, the software determines tracks to synch and re-synchs every WAV file I've imported and left checked. It has no problem with all 6,000+ mp3 files (they seem to synch fine), but repeatedly resynching the 200 or so WAV files I've got.
No fancy playlists or odd settings - iPod is pretty much stock and is set up to synch checked tracks only. Tried pretty much everything from uninstalling/reinstalling/repairing iTunes to hard reformatting and restoring the iPod. No change. It's almost as though the iPod is detecting changes to the WAV files on the laptop hard drive (like artwork has changed or something similar) and resynching every single time I reconnect.
Right now - and with only about 200 tracks - it's only taking about three or four minutes, but I'm converting most of my music to WAV format, so if it carries on like this the resynch time is going to increase exponentially . . . so I want to try and stop it now (and only synch updated tracks) before it gets out of hand.
Does this sound familiar to anyone else? Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
That means Time Machine isn't sure that what's on the drive is what it expects.
Jun 29 09:58:11 Macintosh /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd1218: Node requires deep traversal:/Volumes/Photos and Videos reason:kFSEDBEventFlagMustScanSubDirs|
Because of that, it must do a "deep traversal," comparing everything on the volume to the backups.
How are you disconnecting this drive? If you're not ejecting it first, while a backup is not running, that can corrupt the data on it.
Try a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
Also try repairing it, per #A5 in Troubleshooting.
See #A6 there for more detail on the messages.

  • Way to Turn Off Auto Backup every time iPod Touch connected to computer?

Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Is there a way to Turn Off Auto Backup when one connects iPod Touch to computer?
Auto backup to have started ever since 3.0 update.
Sometimes I am just adding one track from iTunes to my iPod.
Don't want to go through the 15-20 min. backup process each and every time.
    1. I uncheck "Sync Applications," but the default seems to Check it each time I open iTunes.
    2. Under iTunes/Preferences - Under "Devices" - I checked "Disable Automatic Syncing."
    3. I always have Music, Movies, etc. unchecked under "Sync" as I prefer to Sync these manually.
So I am puzzled - why - when I plug in my iPod Touch, iTunes opens and automatically starts "backing up."

if you're familiar with the terminal, exit iTunes, open up a terminal window and type this:
"defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool true" (without the qoutes)
and press return. That will disable the automatic backup, and you will NOT have a new backup if the device craps. Please remeber that.
To turn backup back on: exit iTunes, open up a terminal window and type this:
"defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool false" (without the qoutes)
    and press return.
Now the backup is turned back on.

can not get connected to my wifi, every time I get connected it take me to a blank screen

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Seems Adobe Air or Cummunity help has gone cprrupt. Lets follow the below suggestions:
Step 1: Uninstall adobe air from Utilities and re-install the latest adobe AIR from "http://get.adobe.com/air/otherversions/"
Step 2: Follow "http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84215.html" and re-install the Community Help Air application.
Step 3: Restart the machine and launch adobe Community Help and try to install all the updates and check if it works fine.
    Hope that Helps!.

I am trying to stop using my I-pod under my husband's I-Tune account.  It was set up under his account and the only way I can use it under my account is to erase all of the songs my husband loaded on for me.  I had heard there is a duration that I-Pods are locked into to one account only, and I am trying to discover how I can use my account without having to erase everything on the I-Pod.  I know it sounds confusing but that's the way I-tunes have set it up.  thanks for asking.

  • Need to enter WPA key every time i re-connect?

I have a small network of one wired PC, one wireless PC and a wireless laptop. I messed something up while trying to add our new itouch to the network and now, the laptop is asking for the WPA key every time it re-connects. As of right now, the wired PC is also the only one getting on the internet. We are using the WRT54G v.4, running windows XP on all three computers and i'm about to throw them all out the window. Please help. By the way, the laptop has a different IP address then the other computers...is this a problem too? Thanks in advance.

All the computers on your network should have different IP addresses, but they should all be on the same subnet 192.168.1.x .  If your computer fails to connect, it may show a 169.254.xxx.xxx address.  This address simply means you failed to connect.  It comes from Windows, not the router.
First, in the router, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Also, in the non-working computers, temporarily turn off the software firewall, including Windows Firewall, and see if that helps you make a connection.
To fix the recurrent WPA key entry problem:
In the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys".  Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Delete your current network (this will clear any old settings).  Reboot computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and re-enter your current network info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  Your computer should connect automatically to your router.  If you still have trouble, make sure your computer's software firewall is off.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Also, please note that WPA = "WPA with TKIP", and WPA2 = "WPA with AES".
If you are using WPA2, then note that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2. Go to Microsoft Knowledge base, article ID=917021 and it will direct you to the patch.
Sadly, the patch is not part of the automatic Windows XP updates, so lots of people are missing the patch.
If you need more help, please state the computer software firewall that you are using.

iOS 7 will give errors on non Apple certified peripherals.  So make sure you only use Apple certified products. Did you backup the phone and then RESTORE AS NEW (not reset)? Try doing that by plugging the phone to iTunes on a computer. See if that helps. If it solves the problem, there could have been corrupted software on you phone. If not, it could be a hardware issue (including the battery), in which case you would need to go to a Apple Store or authorized service provider.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459

(If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Video files delete and resynch EVERY time

Previously my iTunes left the files in my iPod alone and only synched new files. The last several times I've plugged my iPod into my computer, it deletes all of my video files and resynchs them. I don't have 2 hours every time i want to add 2 files to my iPod.

    Hi Chloe E,
Did you use custom slow/fast motion in your video? There is a bug in iMovie '09 that can cause strange audio problems when using custom slow/fast motion. This has been experienced by many users. See for example this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9152271
There are some workarounds, being the easiest one to only use what the slow motion slider snaps to instead of entering custom speed percentages.
Apart from that I'm not aware of any audio problems as you describe them.

  • ITunes loses location of files every time a network connection is interrupted

I keep all my media files on a RAID attached to my router. I have a MacBook, and I don't want to fill up my boot drive with music files, nor do I want all my music on an external hard drive that has to be physically attached to my laptop (lack of portability, inconvenient to eject every time I want to take the laptop somewhere, hard drives fail, etc.).
The problem is that every so often, I'll get the message "network connection interrupted." I'm hardwired to the router at home via Ethernet, but for whatever reason, sometimes it just pops up the network connection interrupted message.
If I'm listening to iTunes when that happens, iTunes will stop playing the song, and an exclamation mark will appear to say "hey, I can't find that file where I thought it would be." What's far worse is that iTunes will then go on to try and play the next song, and the next, and the next, and so on down the line, placing an exclamation mark next to each one as it fails to find the volume where they're stored. In this way, entire albums or even entire artists will get "lost" to iTunes.
The next time I go to listen to a song that has the exclamation mark, if my network connection is established, I can double-click, and it will play just fine as it looks for the volume and finds it. Unfortunately, I have to double-click each and every song individually. I can't just click "play album," or even double-click one song and let it go on to the next. I have to go to every song that's "lost," double-click them one at a time, and then they'll play, and be usable by services that connect to iTunes, such as iMovie, or the Remote app on my iPhone.
Is there any way to prevent this situation from happening? Either by telling iTunes not to declare a song "lost" just because it can't find it one time, or to tell it to look in the last place it saw it, so that when the network connection is active, it will just go ahead and play the song?
As it is, it seems that my only choices are to keep all my music on my boot drive or an external plugged directly into the laptop, or to stop using iTunes for my music. Neither of those solutions would be positive outcomes for me.
My setup is a MacBook running 10.6.8, a 5th generation Airport Extreme running 7.6.1, and a Drobo RAID attached to the network.
    Thanks!

Thre's nothing in iTunes you can configure.  There are scripts that could be used to repair links broken in your scenario, but not ones I would want to have to run regularly.  I see a number of posts here where people have issues with iTunes having problem with NAS.  It seems to work find if you just attach an external drive via USB or Firewire but once you start getting fancy with NAS and RAID, problems arise.  You'll have to see if there's something you can do on the networking side to stop this, or you'll just have to quit iTuneswhen the network drops and restart.
