Wave Burner

I am trying to import songs that have seperate left and right wave files. I can't seem to get them to line up. It seems that Wave Burner wants to treat the left as if it were a stereo file and the right as if it were a stereo file.

If you are only using logic and wave burner I think you can keep bounces as interleaved files. Go back to source sessions and bounce files as stereo interleaved.
You should have no troulbe in waveburner after that.

Problem with Wave Burner

Hi
I'm having a problem with Wave Burner hanging when I try to play audio files. The last time I used it, several months ago, all was well but now after importing my audio files and pressing play the program hangs up and can only be closed with force quit. This also happens opening saved files which played previously. Logic and Pro-tools are still working fine. No problems there.
Im using a digi003 with Core Audio. Logic 8.02 OS version 10.5.8. I mac 2.66 dual.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

In Wave Burner if I select the internal audio as playback it works. It's only when I select the Digi003 as playback that it hangs. It used to playback through the 003 fine.

Actually, it IS possible to install STP2 from the original Logic Studio (Logic 8) installer (using Pacifist), and it does seem to run OK in Mountain Lion (though I have not done much with it since I have STP3):
Waveburner 1.5.2 and 1.6.1 also run.
That said, there were/are a couple of *really nasty* bugs in STP 2, particularly regarding the Noise Print/Noise removal process. STP 3 is much much better.
Perhaps the OP can track down a Logic Studio 2 boxed set, and gain the benefit of STP 3?

Wave Burner.Bouncing WB files.

I mastered a project of 10 songs on Wave Burner using plug ins on WB.I figured out to get all the songs onto a CD burn.However I would like to get all the 10 songs that have been mastered,directly onto my hard drive,withou haveing to rip it from the Cd I burnt.Please tell me how to go about to get this.ie WB mix to hard drive in wav format to email others.

I'm not sure if I should have this or no, but I cannot find wave burner or main stage. I have Logic Pro (version 8.0.2) Is this the same as Logic Studio? Also, I already have Compressor and Soundtrack Pro. Is this the same that comes with Logic Studio? Thanks

Logic Studio is a bundle that contains Logic Pro, Mainstage, Waveburner and so on. It should all be installed by default. If you customised the install, then perhaps you chose not to install them. Just rerun the installer from your Logic Studio DVD.
Also, I already have Compressor and Soundtrack Pro.

Yes, both those apps come with Final Cut Studio and Logic Studio.

Apogee Duet no headphone out with Wave Burner

I dont seem to get any sound out of the headphone out on my Apogee Duet USB interface when using Wave Burner.Everything on it works fine with Logic.Something to do with the outputs I'm sure.Any tips on this would help.Thanks.

Have you checked <Preferences> <Audio Driver> in Waveburner? The Duet should appear there, assuming it also has priority in Audio MIDI Setup output configuration.

Wave Burner FreakOut

Have been working in Wave Burner today, and after encountering this problem and doing a search in this forum...and reading the manual which took me all of .3 seconds...
I assemble and correctly name all tracks and enter appropriate info into the CD info, regions and tracks area. Burn CD. All I get is a CD named "Audio CD" and Track 1, Track 2,... etc.
What does one have to do to get this software to appropriately name the CD and the tracks? I have gone through all the docs over and over and every clickable tab/UI setting...and nothing gives.

Gracenotes is the only way I know of to get a CD to reliably show up on a computer with the song titles, etc. intact.
CD-TEXT is read by some CD players, but I'm not sure if computers generally even use it.
Here's how to submit the info to Gracenotes:
After you burn the CD in WaveBurner, eject the disc and then re-insert it into the computer. Open iTunes. The disc shoud be showing up there, but just as "Track 1," "Track 2" kind of stuff. Rename everything by hand (tedious, I know, but keep following). Then goto the "Advanced" tab in iTunes, and select "Submit CD Track Names." This will submit everything about the CD to Gracenotes. Now when anybody inserts a copy of that CD into their computer, iTunes should see what it is automatically (assuming they are online with that computer).
Gracenotes is kind of like card catalog online for CDs and tracks...

Masterd files back into wave burner

Hi everyone.
Im currently getting my projects mastered abroad; usually when I master locally the mastering engineer can embed the my ISRC codes and information on a CD ready for duplication. However I dont think I can get a CD sent to me, it would just be the mastered WAV file.
Can I take the mastered WAV file back into wave burner to insert the relevant information and codes and export it back out without effecting the file?

That doesn't sound like a problem to me as long as you don't add any plug-ins, normalize, or make any volume level changes. If the mastered files come back as individual tracks, you will have to deal with timing gaps between tracks. If they come back as a single file, you will need to insert track markers.
Out of curiosity, where do you have them mastered? Are you getting good results?

Wave burner mp3

I am sending a mp3 track via email and I have bounced it down from logic pro as mp3
I then import it into wave burner which automatically converts it into an audio file for mastering.
How does one bounce this file back to an MP3 file in order to reduce the size from approx 37 m/bits to about 4.3 m/bits as an mp3 file.
There does not seem to be an export window,or function to enable it to be converted back to an mp3 file.

I realize that this is slightly off topic from your initial post, but you've said something that raises a concern: you mention that you bounce files into mp3 format from Logic, import them into Waveburner (which converts them to AIFF), and then intend to bounce them again into mp3 format. This process would be a bad idea, since you would be running the mp3 compression algorithm twice, reducing the quality of the audio considerably. When any program imports an mp3 file and rerenders it as AIFF or WAV, it is not a true lossless file, but rather a lossless representation of a lossy file. Or, in otherwords, it is just a high-fidelity copy of a lower-fidelity audio file. You really ought to bounce AIFF files from Logic, do whatever mastering you intend to do, and then convert the bounced file into mp3. I realize this seems to be several steps, but it is necessary to avoid losing quality.
I would like it very much, however, if Waveburner could render mp3 albums (and especially simultaneously export CD images and mp3s, much as Logic can do AIFFs and mp3s at the same time). Hopefully the developers find a way to do this.

I have a strange problem ... first off, I am a Mac Newbie. I have used PC software to record, export, burn, extract music files for some time now without a problem like this.
Recently I acquired a mac and I'm now using Garage Band to record my CDs. I sell professional CDs online and so they need to be able to function perfectly.
The problem I am now encountering is that I will export and burn a perfect CD. It sounds great when I import it back into itunes on another computer, whether that import is an mp3, a wav, or any kind. It sounds fine on that computer.
But when I take that same .mp3 or .aac file or apple lossless, and sync it into my iphone, it sounds horrible. When I say horrible I mean, you can hear the music ok, but my voice is barely audible and all garbled sounding.
However, I can take other CDs I have made from my PC, import those, and the mp3 versions on my iphone sound perfect.
Since I sell these CDs, in the event someone sticks the CD in their computer and decides that they want to import the CD as an MP3, I don't want them to have to mess around with it to make it play properly.
So, the problem needs to be rectified at the level of exporting or burning or even something before that I am not aware of.
Again, I am new to Mac. I am actually using itunes to burn the CD. Could that be the problem? Maybe there is a better software to make a better CD that will import properly?

Well, I believe I have resolved my own problem. It's kinda silly. I think in my old software on my pc, I had it already configured to default to record the tracks in mono. Something I guess I had long forgotten about. So, changing the tracks to mono definitely has fixed the issue here. I KNEW it had something to do with what I was doing wrong in my recording software, and not an itunes or iphone problem as apple was trying to get me to believe.

Wave Burner new bee question on normalizing/mastering.

I read somewhere that using normalizing function in WB during the mastering process is bad or even uneccesary.Please give me your thoughts on that.
When I master a song there are portions in the song,f(or example during an instrumental section of a song with vocals) where the overall volume dips down.In WB I see a feature where we could nromalize a selected section of a song.Will it be appropriate to normalize those sections?
If i like the mix of a certain song & all I need is to pump up the volume for a CD production,what are the plug-ins that I would need to use to get just the volume up for commercial production? Is this the job of the Limiter alone or do I need to use more plugins in play?
I understand the vastness of the subject of Mastering.But your tips on this would sure help.

Not entirely sure what your point is about the 3rd party plugins - if you are using Ozone then that includes a limiter... you don't have to use a separate limiter after Ozone. Ozone has a chain of plugins in itself; you just need to make sure that the limiter is last in the chain (as it is by default).
If you weren't using any kind of limiter at all and wanted to just look at the level meters, then the only way to avoid clipping would be to make sure that the loudest peaks don't take you over 0dbFS. Or (ironically, given where this conversation started) you could just normalize it - remember, that's how you would make it as "loud" as possible if you didn't have a limiter.
The clipping indicator on the meter will turn red if you do go over 0dbFS at any point, and also WaveBurner will tell you that the file is clipped when you try to bounce it.
At this point, if you're really interested in the mastering process, you might want to pick up a book or two. Actually, there is a very good free mastering guide that goes with Ozone - should be available on Izotope's site or with Ozone itself. The most authoratative book on the subject (IMHO) is Bob Katz's Mastering Audio.

Wave burner 1.1.2 cut and copy

Is it possible to use the edit page at all ??
I couldn´t manage it up to now to cut, copy or delete files, which is very boring. If I want to cut only one region or replace it, I always have to create a new file and do every editing again.

Wave burner - My interface isn't recognised

Just recently got round to finishing my first big logic 7 project and I thought i'd do a rough mix / sequence / master of the album on waveburner but on the preferences it only has 'built in input' as the audio driver. I've been using my Edirol FA-101 on logic with no problems. Any idea?

I posted a similar issue with WB some time ago.
If I open WB with only my SoundSticks plugged in, the only available WB interface is "Built-in Output", even though the SoundSticks are available as an output in Logic.
If I turn on my Yamaha 01X, this becomes available in WB, but I would like to be able to hear what's going to CD through both the 01X w/ monitors, as well as the SoundSticks.
When I originally posted my issue, someone mentioned that the issue may be related to my SoundSticks settings in AMS. I believe they said they needed to be set to 44.1k/16-bit, as that is the CDDA standard. I checked this, and still had the same issue, no matter what the setting.
To complicate the above logic, I have a TonePort UX2 which is configured as 44.1k/24-bit in AMS. This interface also appears in WB!
I tried removing the cache files, and the preferences for WB, and am still unable to see my SoundSticks in WB.
I must agree that it doesn't make sense why both applications should not use the same audio interface detection method, especially since these are all CoreAudio devices. SoundSticks and UX2 are both USB, 01X is Firewire.
I've mostly resigned to the fact that my SoundSticks may never work with WB, but it would be nice if someone has any other suggestions...
