Wave Dissolve/Dream Sequence Transition

Hello all! I desperately need to find a wave dissolve transition (as seen in Wayne's World...the cheesy wavy 'dream sequence/flashback' transition) for iMovie. I've seen one for Final Cut and Virtix (now defunct) has one for older versions of iMovie. I've scoured Google with no results. Please help!

David,
Seems like Virtix is back in business(site must've been down for a couple weeks ?). I just visited their site. I think you want the Echo package with the "Dream" plugin. I don't know if the plugins are compatible with iMovie 6 (they just show iMovie 4). I don't think they've updated their plugins since 2004 or 2005

  • Panel not dissolving on state transition

I have two states, both based on the base state. Very simple.
One has a panel and a button and the second has a panel and a
button. The transition effects seem to work OK on the buttons but
the panels seem to be impervious to any effect, they just cut in.
Is there something unique about panels? Do they have to be within
another component to accept a transition effect? Does someone have
simple code to dissolve between two states that includes a panel
    that successfully dissolves?
    Thanks much

  • Audio not dissolving with simple transitions

    Hi,
I know was a topic posted a few years ago and I assume IMovie09 has a resolution I"m aware of. There was a lot of tralk abot having to extraxt the audio and re-sync it with the video and doing sep. audio effect cross fades for each transition? That's a longer process and some posted it didn't work,
I'm doing a simple 25 minute timeline if some digital footage with dialogue. All the clips tranz together with a cross dissolve. BUT The audio is not mixing. It makes a stuttering, skipping sound for the duration of the transition 15 frames, or 25 frames, etc). Still happens after the project render or export to diff formats.
    Why is it doing this?
Where is the setting I am missing that tells the audio to crossfade/follow with the video?
    Thanks
    JB

I apologize for all the typos in my post.
It has been a long night of editing and trying to solve this problem.

  • Java playback of multiple wav files in sequence - without overlap

    Hi there
I am asking for suggestions on how to do simple consecutive playback of multiple wavefiles using java. Right now I have each wavefile loaded into a clip, and the playback almost works, but with occasional errors where two or more of the files are played back simultaneously. I am doing busy-waiting using the clip.isActive() method in a while-loop in order to detect when a clip has finished playing so that the next one can start. I know that there are most likely some smarter methods of doing this, and I have tried some of them - e.g. linelistener but without getting it to work. If anyone can supply me with some example code on how to do this the right way, or could point me to some literature, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx in advance.
    Jacob

    http://www.jsresources.org/examples/SimpleAudioPlayer.html
That example plays a file by opening it with an AudioInputStream and copying the contents to a SourceDataLine to play it...
It can be easily modified to allow for multiple files to be opened & copied to a single SDL, and is what I'd consider the "proper" way to do it. Clips are mostly useful for things like making a button go "beep" and things of that nature. Not especially useful for normal multimedia applications.

  • Problem with audio overlap for cross dissolve transition

I am using FCPX v10.8 to edit 1hour long lectures.  When I edit out a short mis-speak, for example, the audio will overlap too, along with the video.  Not good.
Someone told me to try expanding the audio video and that definately helps.  But when I do additional edits, the audio tracks  keep changing to different levels (FCP7 tracks which i wish we still had) and I start running into overlap problems again so I have to keep going back and making sure I havent messed up some of the earlier ones.  Driving me nuts.  Is there any other way to edit or some other transition that will do the same as cross dissolve for the video but not audio.  There are not too many transitions that will work for one person speaking as in a lecture.  Cant fade in and out, etc.  Appreciate any help.  Urgent!  have deadlines to meet.
    thank you
    Jac

Expanding audio/video is the first step. The second step in to bring up the trim tool (T). Then you roll the audio and/or the video. The levels should be easily controlled as well with keyframes.
Other than dissolve, the video transition of choice is fade to color.

  • Bright light transition

i am looking for a transition similar to a dip to white color transition. i would like this to look a little different. it's hard to describe what i'm trying to find.
i would like for the video clip to dissolve to a bright light with the next clip to follow.
but i do not want the dip to color transition. does anyone know what i'm talking about.
they use it in movies alot when people come out of a "dream sequence" or something similar to that. thanks.

similarly you can use the 3 way color corector to keyframe blowing out the highlights ... in combnation with subtle use of the light rays filter and you might come up with a new look
if you do, be sure to post an example of how it turned out, with a quick how to guide for all the others to come who will want to recreate it
    good luck

  • Background disappears after adding a cross dissolve to a keyed clip.

I have a clip that has a Keying filter (as well as being cropped and scaled down) on it over a white background. After adding a Cross Dissolve to the keyed clip, the white background disappears for the duration of the Cross Dissolve, leaving a black background behind the keyed clip. This black background is present both in preview and after rendering.
    Any advice?

not positive this will help, but try this:
    remove the transition
right-click and sselect "make compound clip" (or Option G)
within the compound clip, drop a white solid under the keyed clip; do not place any transitions at either end of the compound clip.
return to your storyline / sequence
place your transition again and see if it's fixed
if you still do not have a clean dissolve, remove the transition and then click once on the compound clip and go to around 8 or 12 frames before the end and in the inspector, go to the opacity and add a keyframe and then arrow right to the frame before the last frame and add another keyframe and drag the opacity value to zero.

  • Can't add transition to Quicktime import

I made a Quicktime movie in IMovie using a series of photos and then imported it to FCE. It's now sitting in the Timeline but I cannot add transitions to either end of it. Any thoughts?

If you come from iMovie, you're used to iMovie making transitions by shortening the adjacent shots, taking a bit off each of them to create an overlap for the transition to occur. This incidentally shortens your sequence and possibly pulls things out of alignment with your audio, but that's a problem for iMovie users to deal with.
In FCE and FCP and all other professional editing applications, the overlap is not taken from inside the shot; it's taken from extra material, called handles in FCE, that lie beyond the end of the shot. So if you put a shot in a sequence that uses all the available media for that shot, that is you marked the out point on the very last frame, there are then no handles for the application to extend the shot and create the necessary overlap to make the transition, and the transition will fail.
For the default one second transition you need at least 15 more frames after the marked out point of the outgoing, and 15 more frames in front of, before the marked in point on the incoming shot. That will give you enough material for the default centered on edit, one second cross dissolve or whatever transition you're adding.
    All the best,
    Tom

  • Can I produce a new sequence in Premiere Elements 7

I bought Premiere Elements 7 with 15 class licences for my students.
I really admire the Elements 7 and very happy to be able to present this affordable and yet so efficient program to my students.
There's only one thing I really miss: how can I produce a second timeline? (sequence)
I normaly have my raw material in one timeline (sequence), there I sight it and chose pieces I need for my film, I cut them out, copy and paste in another timeline (sequence), which I sometimes rename to: master
    I hope I just can't find it.
Please help me to find it.
    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE, unlike PrPro, does not have Sequences. As I normally use PrPro, I feel that this is a big loss, but considering the differences in the two programs, I can see why Adobe chose to not include Sequences.
Now, there are at least two ways to do similar:
1.) Edit your Project, exactly as you want, and then Export/Share that Project as a DV-AVI Type II file. Import that AV file into a new Project.*
2.) Many have used ClipMate, a Clipboard "extender," to Copy/Paste between two Projects. I have not used it, so I do not know the power, or the limitations.
    Good luck,

    * One workflow is to do a very tight edit, with all cuts and Transitions, as changing things like a simple Transition can be a bit more work, and require extra Trimming, just to swap out a Cross-Dissolve for another Transition. The other is to do a very loose edit, leaving the Clips with plenty of additional footage, so you will have the necessary Handles. For this, I would go so far as to place 02 sec. of Black Video between each Clip, so I could easily find where I will want to Trim later. It's either a tight, final edit, or a very loose one.

  • BUG: Vertical Red/blue/green on right during video transitions (SOLVED)

I was getting this phantom vertical bar on the right side of the video, and it took me 2 hours to figure out what was causing it. The video size of the sequence was 595x222 (it's for a flash element on a website); This glitch occured across all media types at this resolution: jpegs, mov, whatever. During the cross-dissolve (or any transition) a red vertical var would appear and would cycle colors to red and green during the transition. It showed up in the final exported render as well.
THE SOLUTION:  I changed the width by 1px. That's it. I have no idea why that worked, but it fixed it– no more random color bar. It may have something to do with the width being an even vs odd number or not, or the aspect ratio of the height and width. Anyway, I hope this helps someone, and Adobe- put this on your to-do list.

Thank you for posting your fix.
    Appreciated,
    Hunt

  • Volume, Dissolves, 50% - An easy one for most of you I'm sure.

Hi everyone. First time poster here. I hope someone can help me out. I'm a wedding videographer.
I need to know a few things that will speed up the process of editing a little bit. I'm editing SD footage with Final Cut Pro on a fast G5.
I have 30 four-second clips on the timeline and I want to reduce the volume on all of the clips to -12 in one go. Is this possible? I don't want to have to keep on doing them all manually together?
Let's say I have a similar sequence of shots later on in the timeline. This time, I want to make all of the short clips a speed of 50%, in one go, instead of having to do it all manually, one by one. It's very time-consuming this way. Well, it takes two minutes, but I'd rather not do it.
Also, if there are simple one or two second dissolves between all of these short clips -- how do I go and take away all of the dissolves in one go, so it's just straight cuts?
    Appreciate the help.

    Hi Shane
I did this and it's selecting ALL of the dissolves on the timeline. I wasn't thinking that far ahead.
I'm doing a highlights sequence at the end of a wedding DVD with footage that is copied and pasted into the end of the timeline from elsewhere in the project. This is the reason why I want to get rid of the dissolves and other transitions, so I can start editing this piece fresh. I suppose I could open a new timeline and do it in that.
I need ALL of the transitions to go, if possible, including Dip to Color Dissolves etc. If it's not possible to do all of the transitions in one go, I can do it in two. However, I'd like to be able to do all of this on the one timeline. For example, if I do it the way you said above, I will end up deleting previous dissolves in the timelines (during the speeches, dancing, ceremony etc).
    Any ideas? Anyone? Thanks!

  • How do i make my Video look like a dream.

Hi, I was doing a cartoon video thing. And There should be this person Dreaming about stuff. Usually in Tv shows, Dreams are Black and While + a smooshy black frame thing. I know how to do the Ones where i make a frame that looks like a box. But it looks sorta ugly. Is there anyway I can make it look cloudy sorta thing? Thanks

a little use of the *Soft Focus* filter goes a long way in a dream sequence
or a bit of diffusion will do much the same thing ... layer a second copy of the "Dream" clip on the track above the first, then add some *Gaussian Blur* to that upper copy then adjust the clip's opacity, bringing it down to about 30%, finally right click that upper clip and change the Composite Mode to Screen ... play around with the blur amount, the opacity and the composite mode settings until you hit on a look you like

  • Saving custom 'Dip to Color Dissolve'... how?

    Hello all,
I'm stumped here. It seems I can customize several dissolves and video transitions/filters, but can never get to save my 'Dip to Color Dissolve' to white (instead of the default black).
Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
    Matt

Once you've changed the default settings for the transition in the Viewer window, you should be able to drag it into your Favorites folder in the Browser. Once that's done, it may help to give the "favorite" version a new name (like 'Dip to White") so you can easily identify it from the original.

  • IDVD, time and transition problems

I made a iDVD from pictures only, no movies or music.  I set the time for 5 seconds between pics and chose "dissolve" for the transition.  I burned it on a DVD-R.  It's only about 3 seconds between pics and no transition.  Any suggestions?

Try again but with this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
You're getting 3 seconds per slide because it takes about 1 second on each end of each slide for the transitions. No way around that except to use 10 seconds and end up with 7-8 seconds per slide or use a longer transition like fade in and out which might shorten it down to around 6. You'd have to experiment.
