Thank you for your email. I am Guy with Waves Tech Support Team.
The current OS-X 10.4.6 update causes problems with certain Waves
plug-ins.
This happens when using the Mac automatic updates.
In order to fix it, please download Mac OS X 10.4.6 for PPC
http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty1.pl/product=10150&cat=1
&platform=osx&method=sa/MacOSXUpd10.4.6PPC.dmg
Install it and restart your computer.
This way - all your Waves V.5 plug-ins will function correctly.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Regards,
Guy
It does the Trick by the way

if i were u I'd go and get :
10.4.4
10.4.5
10.4.6
From apple's site then install all of 'em seperatly - dont get the combo update - it can work funny with many a 3rd pty software....
The reason your system did not qualify was that you would need a combo update to go from 10.4.3 to 10.4.6.....the link i posted was not the one of the combo update but that of the single update from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6
after having done the updates u can go to software update and install the rest of what ever security - airport etc you should need:-)

  • Running Leopard on one partition and Tiger on another partition?

I have recently purchased a family pack of Leopard, and I am reading up on a lot of the posts, here, before I venture the installation on two machines. I intend to install Leopard one machine at a time and give a few weeks between installations.
One machine is a 20" 2.0 Ghz Intel - IMAC Aluminum (August 2007), and the other is a G4 Powerbook 17" 1.67ghz 250GB HD. I will probably install on the IMAC first.
My question concerns the G4 Powerbook 17." I have just purchased a 250gb internal hard drive; however, it has not arrived yet. From time to time, I want to be able to run a few programs in classic....., and to have that available to me in the rare event that I want to look at files formatted for classic programs. Call me old fashion or unable to let go of the past... .in any event, I have some files that may be difficult to convert or some software that I do not want to purchase in OS X because I use those programs so rarely.
Initially, I considered just having an external fire wire drive with Tiger installed on it in which I could boot classic up on the rare occasion.
My new idea has been to partition the internal drive to have 10 gb or so available for Tiger. Has anyone successfully run Leopard on one partition and Tiger on the other partition or do they potentially cause problems for one another? Any suggestions, recommendations or concerns are welcomed.

Works like a champ. I run Panther, Tiger, Leopard, and OS 9 on the G4 w/o problems.
Get a bootable, external HD, partition it into enough volumes to accommodate each machine, and make bootable backups/clones of each machine before upgrading/updating and ensure that each boots that machine and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall anything. See these for details:

  • Coverflow crashing Mac using ATI 9800 and Tiger

just gave my MDD dual G4 a birthday and installed an ATI 9800 pro mac edition card and moved from Panther to Tiger, however I have a problem:
first of all let me say, I have 2 monitors connected to my mac using 2 separate graphics cards, ie 1 screen per card, my other card is a PCI ATI 7000 32mb and the problem I am about to describe does not happen on the ATI 7000 card/monitor it works perfectly fine.
problem: iTunes displayed on the new 9800 pro card if I try to switch to coverflow mode my mac completely freezes, dead, requiring a reboot, however if I move iTunes over to my other monitor it works just fine which leads me to think that its a bug with the 9800 and Tiger?
needles to say I have rebuilt my iTunes library and loaded the latest drivers for my graphics cards, and OSX is bang up to date:
    anyone else get this problem?

btw both monitors connected by DVI

  • Logic 6 and Tiger Issue

I just upgraded to tiger, from panther.. I'm still using logic pro 6, and after 3 days of erratic behaviour (long long start ups amongst other dialogue boxes), now it wont start up at all.
I also use a motu 828 mkII, and have installed the latest tiger drivers for this product, to no avail.
If anyone wants to know, i really don't think it's compatible with tiger, and although i was going to upgrade anyway as soon as i could, now i have a problem..... do i go back to panther in order to finish my tune? what a waste of time! Shame there wasnt a warning from apple..so i do it for you.

Be aware, there is one bug that I know of with Logic Pro 6.4 and 10.4. If you try to change a song's metronome settings, Logic will crash.
I think that's the only known issue.
The workaround is to create songs in 10.3 with the desired metronome settings and use them as templates in 10.4.

I want to pass my iMAC along to my kids. System is 10.4.11.  Have original Lion and Tiger OS discs.  What do I need to do to set it up for a new user?

I'm having to guess at which iMac you have. This forum covers three older variants of the iMac family that were made from 1998-2005 with three different processor types.
If yours has a G-series processor, it can run neither Lion 10.7  nor Snow Leopard 10.6. If the processor is a G5 or a G4 (must be faster than 867mHz( you can install Leopard 10.5. If your plan is to reinstall the OS before turing over the computer, let us know which iMac you  have (doing "About this Mac" from the Apple menu will give the processor type--that will do for this purpose)
If "About this Mac" says you have an Intel processor, you have a much newer iMac. Let us know and I can ask the Hosts to move it to that separate forum.
If you wish to maintain control over the computer, you can go to System Preferences > Accounts and set up a new standard account. The user logged into that acct can pretty much use anything installing in that account but cannot install new software or modify the system. That means less chance of something bad getting on the computer but also means they wil be asking you to help install stuff as they won't have access.
If you wish to give the kids full control, set up a new account with admin priveleges, then either strip content form your account and leave it, or simply delete it once you are satisfied that the new accout is working.

in garage band, i want to import a 20 minute wav file and cut it into individual songs, and export them to itunes or dropbox or ...
i've imorted the file to audio for imovie, but can't see how to chop it up, save the pieces as individual units, and export them.

Create a new GarageBand project using the "Voice" template.
Drag you wav file into the Track area of the GarageBand window to create an audio track for it.
Use the playback button to find the gaps between the songs.
Mark each song in turn with the cycle region. Press the button with the two blue chasing arrows to enable the cycle region. This will create a yellow bar at the top of the track area. Drag the ends of this bar to mark one of your songs.
Now use the "Share" menu to send your song to iTunes.
When done, adjust the cycle region to mark the second song.

  • Spotlight and cmd-F (find) and Tiger Cache Cleaner

OK it's taken me years, but I finally have a Mac with the "classic" applications selection menu (ASM) on the absolute far right - thanks to "ASM" shareware and Tiger Cache Cleaner to remove Spotlight.
But when I re-activate Spotlight, I see that it now has to spend 4 hours recataloging my HD. OK, not a problem, but I wonder if I use cmd-F "FIND" is this going to be much much slower than a cataloged SPOTLIGHT?
    What about EasyFind 3.9?
And with cmd-F (FIND) (like with Spotlight) is there any way (other than cut and paste) to have the Mac WAIT until I've typed all my search letters BEFORE it starts going crazy and searching? I typed "S" and before I got to type "Steve" I had a zillion files that it had found...
OK and any comments on how safe this is to have used Tiger Cache Cleaner to remove Spotlight... appreciate that!
(now how to get rid of the Apple application menu in words and replace that (just to the right of the APPLE menu) with just the application LOGO to save Menu Bar space. I know a HAXIE does that, but Haxies mess-up and slow down my MacBook Intel core duo 2 ghz just tooooo much.
    Thanks!
    Steve

EasyFind works fine. It's slower than Spotlight because it doesn't use an index, but it can find things Spotlight can't.
To eliminate the "live" search behavior of Spotlight, use a third-party Spotlight front-end (there are several on versiontracker.com).

  • Creative Suite 2 and Tiger incompatible? *URGENT*

    Hello,
I have an urgent question as I must make a quick decision in the morning. I have heard from a couple of people that Adobe Creative Suite 2 and Tiger do not play nice together but they haven't been able to be very specific and I have not been able to find much on the web. Does anybody know if there are any widespread incompatibilities?
    Thank you

    Hi Supersling;
I don't know where those people are getting their information from but my experience is exactly the opposite. For me the combination of CS2 and Tiger has been the best ever. Since Adope now allows Tiger to manage memory instead of using it's own scratch disk, I have found the improvement in performance to be really impressive.
As far as seeing any problem with the Bridge, I have to say I don't see that either. This was true on both my PM G4 MDD and my Quad. I find the Bridge to be a good place to start looking at my pictures and then use it to open up the pictures that need some work in PS or IR.

  • Print Color Management Problem w. Photoshop Elements and Tiger/Leopard

Has anyone tried printing with ICC profiles through Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac? Apparently, it does not work on Tiger nor Leopard? My prints look very dark and over-saturated.
The Datacolor folks, who make the Spyder3 calibrators I'm using, say my prints look like they are being "double color managed," possibly once by PSE and once by the printer driver (even though it's turned off).
Over at the Adobe Forums some say it's a problem with Leopard. I'm not so sure, because I found that printing color management works fine on a Mac with Photoshop Elements 4.01 and Tiger. Any comments? Thanks.

Aha! Got it. Adobe has confirmed that the problem is on their end. PSE 6 is double color managing the images. Here's what one user got in reply from Adobe on the subject. There are two separate answers:
Thank you for contacting Adobe Technical Support.
After consulting with my colleagues about the issue you raised, I can let you know the following:
The issue is both on our as well as the driver software side and the workaround we have given is the best available at this time. This issue is affecting all printers, not just Epson or Canon.
The soft proofing effect that you are seeing in the print preview is indeed an attempt at soft proofing. However since Photoshop Elements managed prints are incorrectly double colour managed it is not as useful as it was initially designed.
As to the exact details of why this occurred, we have no official information.
We believe that this will resolve the issues you are experiencing, however, should the reply not help solve the problem, please contact us again, quoting the case number given above, and we will re-open the case.
    Answer # 2
We have had word back from our engineers regarding your issue.
The Photoshop Elements team are aware of the problem and are working with Apple and the printer manufacturers to get this to work correctly. In the meantime, the only workaround is to switch off colour management in Photoshop Elements and let the printer handle the colour management.
Unfortunately we can not make an estimation as to when a fix will be provided. We will close the case for the time being as there really is nothing more we can do about this issue besides offering the suggested workaround. Closing this case does not mean that the research will stop however and the engineers are working on a solution to this.
As the tech noted, let the printer handle the color instead. Tell PSE not to manage color so it is the step sending the data unaltered. When the print dialogue comes up, under the Color Correction heading, change the pull down menu to "ColorSync". In the menu below that, choose the correct profile for the paper you're using. If the Brightness menu is still active, look for any choice that allows you to turn it off. If none exists, leave it on Normal. If the options below that for Color Balance and Intensity are not grayed out, make sure they are at the center positions (no effect).
These steps are the same as before, except you're doing them in reverse. Photoshop is doing nothing and the print driver is handling the ColorSync chores rather than the other way around.

  • Having trouble with wav files and sample rates

Hi ,I am having trouble with wav files and sample rates .I have been sent multiple projects on wav as the main instrumental ; I wish to record in 48.000kHz .Now comes the problem. When I try to change the project to 48k It seems to pitch up the track.I can't have them send the logic/project file as most have outboard synths, different plug ins etc. This particular case the producer has recorded the synth task in 41.000 kHz .My successful outcome would be to be able t create a project file in 48 kHz .And NOT pitch up whne I add the instrumenta wav file .Any help would be gratefully recieved, this is my first post so any mistakes I may have made go easy

You'll have to convert the actual synth audio file file that the producer gave you to 48kHz. You can do this in the audio Bin in Logic.

  • Installing Leopard and Tiger on the same computer ...

    Hi,
How could I install both system, Leopard and Tiger, on my iMac G5 giving me the possibility to startup from one of them at a time ...
I want this to have this possibility to run occasionally classic (with Tiger) while using mainly Leopard. Is this possible ? What are the drawbacks of this possibility ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your feedback ...
Smokerz's comment was not clear to me. I thought he meant that having 2 «Applications» folders is «complicating» things. I am french canadian and sometimes english way of speaking is not fully understood. That is why I asked for a confirmation.
I thought that since all partitions would be available, that with 1 «Applications» folder, apps could be used in both world. If I have 2 versions of MS Word, witch one will open when double clicking on a Word document. I think that what we have to keep in mind is that apps have to be Tiger «and» Leopard compatible. Maybe I misunderstand, but that is what I see as the potential problem.
If what Smokerz meant is to have 2 independent systems, it is not what I was looking for when beginning this thread. I have been using OS 9 and OS x with the advantage of switching from one environment to the other and loved that possibility. I thought that I could have an environment where all my documents could be available when working either in Tiger or Leopard. If I desired to have OS 9 for my accounting package, I would startup my Imac with Tiger and Classic. Once finished, I would reboot with Leopard.
I know that there is an emulator called «SheepSaver» to run OS 9 on Intel machine, but have not been to confirm the speed of that solution. Maybe it is also possible to run it on PPC machines ... I will look into this possibility.
    Thanks for helping.

  • How do I simulate sine waves up and down several triangular waveforms?

I need to simulate a number of sine waves at about 10 or 20 Hz and run these up and down a number of triangular waves. I am using the "Simulate Signal" box which generates the sine waves but am not sure what or how to connect to this to "ramp" the sinusoidal waves up and down triangular waves. The triangular waves would run at about 1 Hz.
    thanks
    Martin

    Martin,
It seems as if you could use a second "Simulate Signal" VI, set it for a triangle pattern at your desired frequency, and then add the resulting waveform to the sine waveform. If I run that in a loop, I get a nice ramping sine wave (see attached image).
    Hope it helps,
    John

  • FCP 5.1 and tiger

When I bought my new imac, they told me if i am running FCP 5.1 I should stay with tiger, now i'm having freezing problems with the imac, and they are telling me to upgrade to imac software update 1.3 (leopard) to fix it, can i still run FCP 5.1 on Leopard?

5.1.4 and tiger with QT 7.1 was a very stable system for me. Even 7.2, though that caused big messes for some other high end users.
I'd suggest doing some simple maintenance on your iMac before forcing a leap to Leopard (Which is working very well for me with 5.1 now)
Repair Permissions - /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility - first aid tab... select your system HD name and hit REPAIR PERMISSIONS. Do this twice.
Other things we could try too if that doesn't help - might want to get a copy of a program like COCKTAIL and run those kron scripts.
Your iMac shouldn't be freezing... nor should anybody be telling you that a system upgrade NEEDS to happen just because you are having issues with your mac.
Now - THAT said... when are the freezes happening? Are they related to FCP? If so - google for FCPRescue and use v5 to delete your FCP preference files.
And with THAT said too -- I love Leopard. It's a great system with a few little bugs. If FCP is not (NOT) your main source of income I'd go ahead and make the switch. Your best bet for that (and not the default install) is to clone your drive to another drive using somethign like carbon copy cloner. Then use the instal disc to wipe your drive and install fresh - rebuilding everything from the ground up.
I did an overwrite install of Leopard and it worked fine... for a while... ended up doing a full fresh install of everything shortly after just because there were a few things that were goofy.
    Just my thoughts.

  • Can Anyone Recommend Books About Mac and Tiger?

    Hello,
I'm heading back to the homeland for a short visit in a week's time. I'd like to buy a book that can explain a few things about Tiger so I don't always have to visit the Apple Store and bother the Geniuses there.
Can anyone recommend any good books about Mac and Tiger? I know of "Mac For Dummies" but I've never been a big fan of that series. Cheers and thanks.
