WAY OVER limit jetpack usage

After just upgrading to a jetpack, I was told that I wasn't gandfathered in to my old (8 years) unlimitied data. No big deal since I've never gone over 2 Gig, and for the last few months rarely go over 1 Gig.
I was shocked when I started getting overage alerts basically going over a 10 Gig limit, I called Verizon and the guy helping me agreed that it was CRAZY even when seeing my past history and even noting that my devices were actually still using less than 1 Gig. HOW can this be? He put note on my account and instructed me to shut it off any time I'm not using it over the weekend and he will follow up with me on Tues. In 3 days it has just added almost 2 Gig.
I searched online and found HUNDREDS of people complaining about the same issue. Who is stealing all of our data??? How can YEARS of no more than 2 Gig of usage go to 12 Gig???
I wonder how much typing this note will cost me?

I have been with Verizon for more than a decade, and I don't think I have ever been so frustrated. When one of the people on my family plan needed Internet access, I thought that purchasing a Verizon Jetpack™ 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L would solve his problem. On Saturday, February 16, he and I purchased the hotspot, and he installed it that afternoon. By midnight, I received a text message that he had already used 50% of the 5GB monthly allowance. Today, two days after he installed it, I received notice that he has used 4.25GB of the 5GB allowance. At this rate, I will soon owe much more money than I can afford--and he needs Internet access. He turns off the hotspot when he is not using the Internet, he has not streamed movies (he has no movie streaming account such as Netflix or Amazon), and he has password protection on the account. After surveying these discussions, I now realize that we are experiencing what hundreds of other Verizon users are--and I don't know what to do about it. I guess this is a long-winded response in support of your complaint--and I wonder how much a single email will cost any person who has decided to use the Jetpack. Can this be returned? Does anyone know? I am ready to drop this unit and help this young man move to a prepaid plan from TMobile or Virgin Mobile.

I have a shared everything plan 40GB. I live in the middle of nowhere. I homeschool and need to do a lot online. Area monopolized by satellite which is an awful but necessary evil. When it rains, forget TV or internet. They do still offer dialup. Ha! Anyway, so I chose this plan and it has been "okay". The signal is spotty and the 4G I was told I would get is hardly what I get on my phone when I am in the main cities. Still, we make do.
Here is my current dilemma. My elderly mother in law is staying with us for... a while. She is not a pro, but she can certainly get online. Of course, I have passwords (of my own making). My kid put a password on her laptop when she said she needed to check email. Well, it turns out that granny likes to play online games. The ones that stream. She sucked up all 40 GB in a few short days. Uploads, downloads, you name it. She has been told time and again that the usage was OVER. That she had to wait for it to roll over. She was still going online. I was in a panic with the emails about overages, etc. I had to disconnect the boxes and take out the batteries, just to be sure.
I do know that the boxes can be configured to only work with the mac addresses you designate. That's great. I did that with the first one, but not yet with the newer one, b/c it was only my husband, myself and kids-we are all VERY clear on usage. So, yeah..the one she has been using is the newer one b/c we trusted she would listen to what we told her.
My question is this: Is there any way that I can create a dedicated user "account & password" to her and then limit THAT usage? I know something kind of like this can be done for kids phones, but no clue about boxes. I really don't want to have to block her, but I cannot afford to sacrifice my kids education b/c she wants to play games. My spouse will never deny his mom anything, but he gets mad when told the usage is gone after a week. My usage is about to roll over again and I NEED it.
I asked a rep on "live chat" & they couldn't help-told me to call. I will call, but prefer to do it during the week, when no one will "overhear" and get offended. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Windchimes74, oh wow! That is a lot of usage in a short amount of time. We do have a great application called Family Base. You can restrict the amount of time/amount of usage that a particular device can be used. By doing this you can put a limit when Mom is online. Once the jetpack reaches that limit it will not allowed to be downloading anything else. This package is $5 a month for the whole account. It is an awesome feature that I myself use for many lines on my account.

I have iPod Touch and husband has iPad3. Apple store synced both together and now on iTunes, iPod shows "other" usage way over. I hardly have anything on my iPod (no books, music, etc.). Do we have to unsync?

Jetpack Usage Spiking HELP

For unknown reasons my jetpack usage has totlay spiked even tho my usage has not. In fact if anything my usage has decreased. I do not watch videos or download anything on my laptop and I watch my device to see if any other computers are on there besides mine and there never are. The only things I do on my computer is check email and go to Facebook. My first month totaled 6.8 GB, then 5.12 GB (this month we had company and others were using the system also) , 5.9 GB, 6.4 GB. then last month 8 GB and now we are half way into my billing and already I am over 4.1 GB.
There is something wrong here and it needs to be fixed ASAP. Please HELP.

I'd have the same concerns that you do, muttandjeff. But I do agree with Kinquana's recommendation. My wife's line has seen a spike in usage as well, and it's not the result of one or two videos. Facebook's video settings have changed to where they can and do start running automatically as you scroll through your timeline (you may have noticed this). That feature can be disabled through your Facebook settings.
Also, I use my Usage Details feature at www.verizonwireless.com. It allows me to see the dates, times, and amounts of data being used on all 5 lines on my account, so that I can see what activities cause the most data usage.

How to Run a Report for Blanket PO that have been OVER Invoiced (over limit

Hi All,
How do I run a report in ME2N, where I would want to see all the Blanket POs (Framework Orders) that has a "Actual Value" (the amt invoiced so far) which is Greater than the Overall Limit (specified in the "Limits" tab)?
Are there any fields in the Dynamic Selection in ME2N? I coudn't Find any......How can I compare two fields in the Blanket PO, for example "Overal Limit' > "Actual Value"?? How to put this selection criteria in ME2N

You will not get this information via ME2N but you can get via ME2S
once you execute the ME2S you will see the PO lines and if oyu double click on it than you will get the all information you are looking but the exact query directly not possible with ME2S
The best way is write the query using table ESUH and EKPO
joint EKPO to ESUH and do the query based on your requirements.
you can get the package number from EKPO and based on the package number you can retrive the data form ESUH table

Wondering if Is there a way to limit the frequency of the "autosaving drafts" feature in Mac Mail on Lion?
Looked all thru preferences and googled the crap out of this and can't seem to find the answer I want.
Basically, I have my mailbox behaviors set up exactly the way I want them. (ie deleted messages get saved to my "Trash" folder on the server) I do not think I should have to change them, but because of the autosave feature saving almost every 3 characters typed, I have an over abundance of versions saved in my Trash folder. This problem would be solved were there a preference somewhere I could select to save drafts "manually only" or "opened messages save when quitting" or something along those lines.
Is this a preference setting already that I am missing?
I would settle for a rule, just not sure what perameters should be set for this to work.

Typically a server has a settable parameter to limit concurrent connections. Check the server's documentation.

We are using Discoverer 10.2.xxx
We are running it against an Oracle applications database but we do not have Discoverer integrated with the apps. I have created database users for discoverer and granted access to the data at the db level.
We have about 40 salesreps and we only want each rep to see their own data. We have a high turn over with the reps
For now, I have created the row level security in that folder in my eul. If the username = XXXX then Salesrep = XXXXX
OR
If username = YYYY then DSM = YYYY
etc.. This goes on for about 40 users We have 3 levels of "users" - Salesrep, DSM or RSM (District or Region sales manager)
These users are setup in my apps and I can write a database procedure to select their salesrep name based on their username.
Is there any other way to limit the data that the salesreps can see ?
Possibly with a stored procedure some way?

At a previous client's, I had created a system not too unlike what you're describing.
Basically, I created an Oracle table that stored information concerning the salesperson as in Oracle Apps the data was not reliable for what they were doing (ie: with adding Apps modules, sometimes salesperson data was there, but with say, CRM, it was in another place, etc.).
So, since this table was going to be used for driving everything about a salesperson (commissions, who they report to, when they started, territory, when / if they moved territories and/or manager, etc, etc.) I put lots of good stuff in it that would make life easier for them.
The end user in charge of all this had was given a Form to add, edit, delete all this good stuff and they were happy.
When it came time for security, it worked like a charm in that I used the concept of the BIS views where a user has an apps id associated to them and all data was filtered by that id. All I really had to do was to create this view that simply filtered data to that user's id. Then whenever I had a Discoverer report for salespeople, managers, etc. I just made sure the folder used had a join to this filtering view and I chose an item from the filtering view and all worked fine. All Discoverer reports only returned row level information for the salesperson who ran it.
Likewise, the same Oracle table was queried by another security view that only brought back the same IDs for the salespeople associated to each manager. When this simple view was joined to any sales Discoverer folder (and used in Disco), it limited all data to the salespeople the manager was responsible for.
Obviously this is just an overview and would take pages to explain, but essentially, if you can associate some kind of unique ID to each salesperson (I used the one returned in BIS views when someone logs into Apps, but you could just assign a different in your case), then you can create a view that filters to that id. Then when that view is brought into the EUL and joined to any other folder in the sales area (and you choose a column from the security view), you'll have what you're referring to - row level security for all salespeople and managers.
When it works - it sure does look impressive.

Overall I think that the page preview function of Safari is really great. But I noticed today that Safari was becoming slow to close down, and I cleared the page previews with the "Reset Safari" function, and over 1 GB of cache was cleared up. I had no idea that that much disk space could be taken up by the page previews.
Is there a way to limit the size of the Safari Page Preview cache to, say, 500MB?

Sorry, you can't limit the size of that item; you can either delete it, or disable it completely (which will also disable Top Sites and Cover Flow for Safari).

Limit iPad usage to use it in a showcase

I would like to know if is it possible to limit the usage of my ipad to an app/website. I would like to use it in a stand to show my website, but people shouldn't be capable of leaving the app, or safari.

There is no way to limit use to a particular app, short of getting a custom app developed. It can be done via programming, I believe. I have seen several, on a stand, locked to a specific site by merely having the tand or case built so that the home button cannot be touched. With only the screen accessible, they can only do things based on your touch screen options.

Cisco ACS 5.3, Active Sessions are over limit e-mail alert.

I have recently enabled the SMTP alert function in ACS 5.3. It seems to work well for most of the alerts. One thing though, the active sessions are over limit warning that comes up every so often. I know it is not impacting operations and it is ACS's way of clearing out sessions that had no accounting stop, but how do I disable this alert from being sent by e-mail from ACS 5.3??? I do not see it anywhere.

Hi, Thanks for the response. Unfortunately it does not solve my issue. Following the directions causes all logging to stop in the real time logs. There is no username coming through for these phantom authentication requests that I can create a filter or access request for. Is it possible to get more details???
The issue is that there is noting in the realtime logs for this on on the General tab that an alert has been triggered and therefore and e-mail for the alert. I was looking to see how I can disable the alert itself. there does not appear to be any dummy account these authenticatons are using to trigger this alarm in the logs I can see.

Limit CPU Usage

I have a swing program that creates a number of rather large html files in a loop, around 50kb each. While the program is writing the files my CPU Usage stays at a constant 100%. I feel like this is a bad thing. Any way to limit this, or any insight that will make me feel better about what's going on? I'm running Windows 2K Professional. Thanks.

my computer has 256mb of RAM, and is a Pentium 4. The code is a few nested for loops that ouptut 12 large dynamic html pages, picking data stored out of double[][] arrays. There is definitely a lot of data stored in memory, but memory is cheap right?
I basically want to know the risks of having a program that demands so much CPU usage during execution. The CPU Usage is at 100% for less than 10 seconds while the files are written. Is this bad on the computer? will it cause computers problems with less memory and processor speed? A broad answer would be fine.

I have a user's who's account is over limit. I have recently done a clean install of Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010. I keep trying to have his computer archive old emails but in the process the machine keeps hanging. I try to crash out Outlook
but the outlook.exe process will not let me shut it down telling me access denied. The only way to recover is to completely shut down the computer (which I cannot do VIA the regular shutdown option because of outlook hanging). What do I have to do to resolve
this problem? Kind of urgent as it's affecting his receiving emails.

According to your description, the issue seems to be related to outlook profile or your PC. I recommend you check if the issue occurs when other users use the PC. If the issue doesn't occurs, it means your outlook profile should be problem.
