Way to disable album art search in itunes???

Can this be turned off so no search will occur?

Open iTunes. Go to Edit>Preferences>General. Uncheck the box "Automatically find missing album artwork" and choose Ok.

  • Is there a way of getting album art on to itunes for CD's I already own?

If I buy an album from the music store, it gives me the artwork. However, if I'm just putting a CD onto Itunes, it will find all the track details but not the artwork. Not a big issue, but is there any way to get round this?

I use 'iTunes Art Importer' (Google it) - a nice little program that will search and import album art from Amazon automatically.
Just be aware that your MP3 file size will increase because the jpeg is embedded in it and the larger the jpeg, the larger the increase.
I think iTunes Art Importer selects suitably small thumbnails.

  • Best way for getting album art into iTunes/iPod?

First of all, when you pull the track listing down from Gracenote when importing CDs, does the album art come with it? I don't see any art. And then if not, what is the best source for getting a low resolution digital file for each CD imported and how do you make sure it will make it to your iPod from iTunes? Is there any easy or streamlined process? Also, do the low resolution files add up for each song and take up hard-drive space? Thanks for any input.

    click
on it on drag it to the desktop, then into the album
    art box of iTunes.
I believe that copying directly into the iTunes box
will use more space on your HD than going via the
    desktop.
    It's the other way round.
If you copy it to your Desktop then it takes space there and if you then copy it to iTunes it gets added to the music file making that bigger.
Of course, if you delete it from the Desktop and empty the Trash then you won't have it taking space.
Here's a useful app for working out where all your space is going: Disk Inventory X

  • ITunes Album Art Screensaver with iTunes Match in Lion

A well documented problem so far.
Would just like a DEFINITIVE answer
    Running iTunes 10.5.3
    Lion 10.7.2
iTunes Match working great with songs still stored locally.
Have re-downloaded all album artwork & displays just fine while in iTunes
When activating Screensaver, get the message 'No iTunes artwork found'
Ok all you mac/iTunes geniuses, what have you figured out so far?

I found that I too had this problem.  I have tried everything that is suggested here and else were.
What I had to do was maybe a combo of everything suggested here and what I did.  Don't know for sure, but I am not going to try to break it again to find out.
After none of these suggestions would get it to work I started digging.
Using Activity Monitor, I could see that when I had the System Preferences open it was taking way to much Physical RAM and CPU, so I selected "System Preferences" from the list of open processes and then clicked the "Inspect" button at the top of the Activity Monitor, under the "Open Files and Ports" tab I could see that the "iTunes Library.itl" file was trying to be accessed.  So then I closed the "Inspect" window and clicked the "Sample Process" button.  I got A LOT of information, and a lot of error messages refering to iTunes that contained the text "(in iTunesAccess) load address" and a bunch of different numbers that I couldn't tell you what they mean.  Searching google for "(in iTunesAccess) load address" didn't give me anything of value, so I figured that since System Preferences kept trying to call the "iTunes Library.itl" file and I was getting a bunch of iTunes errors in sampling the System Preferences process, that the problem might lie in my library.
So to test, I copied about 50 or so songs with album art to the iTunes library of a new user I had just created on my computer.  Then I tried to turn on the artwork screen saver, and it worked right out of the gate.  So that told me it wasn't a global problem with the computer, just within my profile. Since I have had the same library for about 10 years though hardware, OS, and iTunes upgrades, I thought, maybe if there was some way I could rebuild my Library file it might be happier, and since I don't want to loose all my play lists and what ever historical data is kept in the library file, rebuilding seemed like the best option.
So here is what I found on how to rebuild the Library file, it is pretty easy, but scary to.  I have a Time Machine back up of my computer so I felt better knowing that I could just revert back.  Before you try this I would make back up copies of "iTunes Library.itl" and "iTunes Music Library.xml" if you aren't backing up your computer already.

After all that everything worked like it was suppose to.  Happy day and all the peasants rejoiced.
I really wish Apple would address the issue though, I know it's a small detail, but that attention to small details is sometimes what makes Apple so effing cool.  Seems like they are starting to let more fall through the cracks.

  • My findings -- Album art shown in iTunes 7 but not in iPod

Well, after several round of testings, here's my conclusion:
For song in iTunes library, i can change the album art and upload the song to iPod. The album art shows in iPod and stays...however if i decided to change the album art later for the same song by directly dragging the album art to song info box in iPod, the updated album art displays in iTunes BUT not in iPod, in fact NO ALBUM ART is displayed at all...even though how many times i check/uncheck the DISPLAY ALBUM ART box.
The only way to change the album art again is to drag the new album art to the song in my iTunes library and later drag that song again to iPod.
As a summary, it DOES NOT allow me to add or change any album art directy to songs stored in iPod. The only workaround is have the exact copies of songs stored in iTunes library and do auto sync.
For me this is totally not flexible as in order to save hard drive space, i believe most of us will store songs in Ipod and remove them from iTunes library (correct me if i am wrong). And all we can do is wait til the next release of firmware from Apple.........
Hello Apple, r u listening out there!?!?!
    BTW, i am using iTunes 7 and iPod 5G 60GB 1.2 firmware.

phewww. Been going crazy, thinking i waas the only one with this problem. It was never a problem with 6.5.
and yes, we all dont save tracks in the media library. i have never even used it
    So fix ASAP.

  • Missing/inconsistent/wrong album art after installing iTunes 10

Ever since I installed iTunes 10, weird things are happening with the album art in my iTunes libraries and across my iPods and iPhone.
Before the update, most of my library had album art -- in fact, I had gone to the trouble of pasting it into the individual songs so that it would be "embedded" in the file.
It's still there in the library, but not on my phone or iPods, random tracks are missing artwork, or display artwork from a different track.
Makes no sense, or at least I haven't been able to figure out what the commonality is with the affected tracks. Anyone else seen this?

If all your music is in iTunes, you could try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings
Alternatively if your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • I can no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40

WHY can I no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40? It is maddening. I have checked many boards and discussion groups but no one has a sure fix. Why is Apple not tending to this problem? They of all groups should know the importance of how something looks.

I had the the same problem albeit with an m4v (same hardware and OS rev too!, iTunes 10.6.3). I was able to add the movie to a new library per Limnos' suggestion here, indicating that iTunes wasn't totally busted. However, I was also able to see the movie in the Recently Added smart playlist (another hat tip to Limnos), although it still did not appear in the Movies section of my iTunes library. (It was also in the iTunes Library.xml file.)
So I called AppleCare, and they directed me to move the file from the external drive where it was living, into the /Users/<Your Name Here>/Movies directory, and to "Add to Library" (Command-O) from that location. Sure enough (and much to my surprise), it showed up immediately (duplicated, actually) in the Movies section of my iTunes library. Subsequent additions to my Library have not misbehaved similiarly.

  • How do I disable album art?

I'm really not interested in what my albums would look like if I bought them as physical objects.  Is there a way to turn album art off?

Actually there IS a way to get rid of it.
in your library (list view) Select ALL songs (Cmd+A)
    Then "get Info" (Cmd+I)
Check the box next to the empty artwork box and click OK
It'll remove the artwork for EVERYTHING.

  • How do I disable detached Album Art window in iTunes 10?

    Hello,
In iTunes 9, whenever playing any music with album art, iTunes would not attempt to detach a separate window.
However, new in iTunes 10, every time I play a song that has album artwork, iTunes will automatically detach a small separate popup window that is supposed to show the album artwork for that song (I say "supposed', because the album artwork never shows up in this window; it's always just pitch black), as well as playback controls when you mouse over that detached window.
Also, whenever you try to close this album artwork popup window, song playback also stops! So one is forced to keep it open the entire time iTunes is playing music that happens to have album artwork.
I would like to remove this detached popup window and never have it show up, as it increases clutter with an extra window on my desktop, and most importantly, I did not instruct iTunes to open a separate window in the first place.
I searched iTunes preferences exhaustively and could not find an option to disable this album artwork popup window.
Is there a defaults write com.apple.iTunes command that can disable it? Or some other way to get iTunes to stop always automatically displaying this separate album artwork popup window? (And NO, I don't want to just minimize it).
    Thank you.

Do you mean iTunes 10 or 11?
I'm pretty sure this is controlled by the import settings for CDs.  Go to "preferences->general",
and click "Import settings" next to the CD line.  You can select MP3 or AAC there.

  • Any way to update album art for lots of Movies automatically?

I have several hundred movies in mp4 format that have album art with the exact same filename except ends in .jpg instead of .mp4. I'd like to update the album art in these movies and figured out how to do it manually via iTunes. However, I'm looking for any way to do this easier than manually doing it one by one. Any good scripts or programs out there that can read a directory and insert the album art into the mp4 file?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Had this problem and think I have solved a work round although simple copy and paste we used to have would be so much better to have back - APPLE PLEASE NOTE! - sorry I think that deserves a shout.
I regularly add cd's to my library which don't have artwork on itunes so I search and used to be able to copy the image and paste straight into itunes but not with itunes 11.
Work around I have found is as follows.
Locate Artwork, right click and "Add image to iPhoto library"
Locate album in itunes.  Right click and "Get Info".
Double click on the artwork frame and will open window showing your files.
Open photos and locate your saved artwork photo.
    Select and click open.
Click OK on the Multiple Item information window and itunes will update the tracks on the album with the artwork.
It worked for me so hope it does for you.

  • Album Art Display on iTunes 10

When I saw that iTunes 10 brought back the "Digital Jukebox" browsing mode (that's the one in which the album artwork is shown on the right side of the song list for that album) I was very happy.
But the way it works in iTunes 7 is a mess. The sizes available for the album art are all way too small, and having the album and artist names shown on the right side of the album art is very messy.
I think the sleekest, most convenient display or browsing method iTunes has introduced to date was the iTunes 7 incarnation of the "Digital Jukebox". You can choose what size you want the album art to be, the album and artist info is shown BENEATH the album art, and the design of how it looks is the sleekest yet.
I'm wondering if anybody else misses this display mode and if there's any way to effectively convey to the Apple people that it would be a good idea to bring it back.
It would be grreat if iTunes was a bit more customizable in that sense: choosing colors for icons and having much more power over how your library is displayed.

First, go to View > as List.
Then use the search bar to your advantage. Type the name of the artist for the album at the top right. This will only show the songs pertaining to that artist/album. Then just Ctrl + A and edit multiple items and go from there
    Hope that helps.

  • Is there a good way to update album art directly on my ipod?

    Hi, new here.
So I have an ipod nano 5th gen: 16GB.
I have ~1500 songs on it and have been facing a slew of interesting issues with my album art.
    1.  I prefer to add songs manually as I tend to want only some of an artist, genre, or similar, and I like the control it gives me.  The problem that I've been having is that there is no efficient way to add artwork to the songs / albums on my ipod that I have ripped from CDs, and are already on my ipod.  Going through all my songs and seeing if they have art would be tedious and time consuming, and the only better way to do this seems to be deleting songs off of my ipod and re-copying them.  Normally, I would just delete all my songs and re-copy them all, and go do something else for half an hour or so, but there are some songs on my ipod that may not even exist on my computer anymore, and I can't get them again.  Is there a better way to just synch songs with the ones in my library and update those that have had art added?  (The synch button at the bottom of the ipod tab / window doesn't seem to do that.)
    2.  At one point, I tried manually adding artwork to albums using Wikipedia images / etc, and I know that many people like to put their own artwork for their albums.  The problem I had is that adding the artwork directly to the album only updated the firts track, and the rest still had the big note on them.  Is there a way to adress this and make it apply the picture to the whole album?
    3.  When I was finally able to update my images because they required an apple id, and I didn't have a credit card to give, the custom images on the albums stayed.  Is there a way to override this?  The artwork that was downloaded looks better then what I had.
I know this is a lot, but I think these questions are related enough.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • On the new ipod touch, is there a way to enlarge album art to fill the whole screen?

    Hi there,
For Christmas I was given a new ipod touch (long story short my old one I put through the wash by mistake ) and this new one is great but when I listen to a song on the new itouch the album art does not fill the whole screen like my old itouch, this is a small detail I know but I loved that feature so much and I was hoping there was a setting I could activate/change which allows this on the new itouch.
At the moment on the new itouch the album art is small and centered towards the top of the screen while the function icons are below the image while on the last one the album art filled the whole screen and the function icons where over the picture at the bottom and didn't stand out as much as it does now.
I have drawn a very rough MSpaint diagram explaining what I mean lol.....
[i tried using the insert image feature but got a javascript error so using external site to upload pic]
    http://s28.postimg.org/aovrsuewt/itouch_something_like_this.jpg
Anyway my question is, is there a way to have the album art fill the whole screen with the new itouch?

Just sync them to the iPod. See:
    iTunes: Syncing photos
They will not go to the camera roll album but to a new album

  • Auto Sync disables album art?

I have had my nano on manual for a while, but today i decided to switch to auto syncing, however, when i view the songs there isnt any album art, and with manual transferring there was. Problem with the software?

If your iPod is set to manual transfer, you can add artwork directly to the songs on the iPod (through iTunes).
Connect the iPod and click on it so all the songs are visible in iTunes and highlight any song or album. Then get an artwork image from (say) Amazon and copy/paste it into the artwork box in iTunes which will add it to the song/album on your iPod.
You cannot use the "get album artwork" feature in iTunes to add artwork this way and one thing to note is that if you add artwork directly to the iPod, the artwork is sometimes not displayed or displayed incorrectly when playing songs (because this is not the intended method of adding artwork).

  • Album art added via Itunes 'Get Info' not updating on iPhone 5

Im wanting to use Itunes specifically to add album artwork to my music which is managed manually. With the previous itunes version, it was a case of dragging and dropping a jpeg into the bottom left corner and hey presto! However, now...nothing.
Ive confirmed all manner of things/issues explained after "research" on the net. So far nothing has worked out. Ive confirmed that the artwork is jpeg (even tried png) and also that its not locked under any specific permissions in Windows 7.
To illustrate the annoyance of it, i can use a third party program to add the album art to an mp3 (prior to it being synced onto the iphone) and it will show up perfectly then! Now, you may be wondering 'why not just do that? problem solved'. Not quite. Windows is annoying to say the least especially with album artwork. Its all fine adding the artwork to mp3 files, but it then adds hidden artwork files in the folders themselves.
As i said before, i was able to do it manually with the previous itunes version but now im out of ideas. The 'Get Info' tab then onto 'Artwork' in itunes is where im trying to update the files. I can load them there, they will show on the files under itunes, but not on the iphone. As i manage my music manually ive also attempted to remove all tracks, re-sync and try and add again; nothing.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Granted this can only be really described as an annoyance, but its annoying nonetheless.
    Peace

Dragging music files directly from Windows and dropping onto the device?  I have no idea how that is even possible, but right there you're deviating from the intended design -- iTunes is meant to be the intermediary.
Are you suggesting that i first update the music in the itunes library and then drag & drop to the iphone? In a way, not manually manage the music?
Yes, that IS what what I'm suggesting, and that is what manually managing means in the iTunes world.  It is a media manager for your devices, and if you're bypassing it then its no wonder you're struggling.  It sounds like you're coming from a mp3 player perspective, and like it or not, that's not how i-devices work.
I'm sorry to say, but if you try to force things another way it will be a rocky relationship to say the least.
