Way to "downgrade" from digital signal on graphics cards?

Hello all,
I recently purchased an 8-core mac pro with the intention of using it for a lot of video installations for theatrical productions. I bought it with 4 of the Nvidia graphics cards, which are dvi and mini-displayport. These are both sending a digital signal, and it doesn't make it possible for me to use my DVI-composite adapter so I can plug into older TVs. I also have TONS of BNC cable that I can use to run cable paths, and this BNC has to have composite. This severely limits me, since my work involves grabbing whatever output monitor I can find. I've seen some posts on altering the signal with a EZ pc-tv converter box, but this is one more adapter/converter/whatever that can break during a performance. I'd like to just send it out from the source.
So my question is, is it possible to find a graphics card that still sends this analog signal, thereby allowing me to use my composite adapter? I just purchased the Mac Pro about a month ago, (just before they updated) and I wasn't sure if I could find anything like this. I've used the ez pc-tv box, but these don't appear to be too reliable, so if there isn't a way to install a graphics card, then is it possible to find a beefier conversion from the digital signal to analog so I can run long lengths of BNC cable?

The standard DVI connector also produces the five signals required for VGA signal on the same connector.
The DVI connector should have a solid bar toward one end of the connector. This is the ground for the four VGA pins (Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal Sync) that surround it. The fifth signal, Vertical Sync, is shared with the digital signal. A simple VGA-extractor has been available through the Apple store and other outlets.
A DVI to composite Video and S-Video adapter, which may have a few active components inside, has also been available. The one on the Apple Store lists only the X1900 for the Mac Pro, but it is not clear to me whether they have simply been lazy about updating the description.
The mini Display port adapters they list are
1) DVI-Digital-only (you can tell because the bar at the end lacks the four pins surrounding it) OR
2) VGA adapter (which you could convert to Composite with a component available in Europe they call a SKART chip).
Conversion of the digital signal is out of the question. You would need a screen buffer and as much logic as is already on the display card. Adapting the VGA signals is the way to go.

  • Is there a way to downgrade from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 4.1 without any unauthorised modifications (e.g. jailbreaking)?

I found this piece of information: http://osxdaily.com/2012/06/18/downgrade-ios-6-beta-to-ios-5/ Yes, it's about downgrading from iOS 6 beta, not iOS 6, but the way to downgrade to a previous version of iOS is basically the same.
I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 and an iPod touch 4 running iOS 5.1.1 as well. None of them is 'jailbroken'. I upgraded my iPod touch to iOS 6 for exploring it a bit more and reverted back to iOS 5.1.1. How? I did it the way stated by the website I mentioned above: just by Option-Clicking the 'Restore' button on iTunes and select the iOS 5.1.1 software. No need to enter recovery mode or DFU mode whatsoever.
In fact, Apple doesn't allow users to downgrade to a previous version of iOS: 'Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported.' (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694) The reason why I could downgrade from iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1 may be, as the above website said, 'Typically you can’t downgrade iOS versions so easily, but because Apple is still signing iOS 5.1.1 this allows downgrading to commence with minimal effort.'
I was wondering whether I could revert all the way from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 4.1 (the version that was shipped along with the launch of the iPod touch 4 in September 2010). (for experimental purposes)
I downloaded the iOS 4.1 (a list of iOS software: http://osxdaily.com/2010/10/30/download-ipod-touch-firmware-ipsw/) and tried Option-Clicking when restoring this iOS 4.1 — no luck. iTunes said 'This device is not eligible for the requested build'. And I did a bit of research and found that there are ways to downgrade from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 4.1, but it seems you have to jailbreak the device, which is complicated and I don't want to do.
So, is there a way to downgrade from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 4.1 without any unauthorised modifications (e.g. jailbreaking)? Thanks in advance.

No, downgrading from any version of iOS to an earlier version is not supported.

    Thanks.

Hello, thank you for all these informations.
Right now my graphic card current Bios Version is 80.04.00.2F (P2004.0010). Is it the good one ?
I've found out yesterday evening about the GPT Drive, when I saw it on my laptop which works fine with UEFI fastboot mode.
For the moment the main drive on my desktop is MBR formated SSD.
Is it safe to clone the MBR SSD Drive to another GPT formated SSD Drive ?
In my Partition soft I saw that it can convert MBR Drives to GPT without data loss. Could this work ?
    Thanks for reading me.

  • Way to stop NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT graphics card from running?

I have 2 graphics cards in my Power Mac G5, one is a NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT graphics card which i believe came with it, the other is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600. The problem I have is that the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT card makes a horrible fan noise, and I am looking for a way to unplug it, or cut it off from the power supply safely. Any advise is welcome.

    Here is a sample video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkMGFyB8wig&feature=related
Keep in mind that video cards have an extra tab at the tail end so don't forget to gently push the tab to the side.
The video card fans typically plug into power pins on the video card so removal of the card will expose the connection.  Otherwise, just follow the fan power leads.

  • Is there any possible way to downgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to 6.1.2?

The title is self-explanatory, I really would like to downgrade. I paid a lot for my iPhone 5, I deserve to be able to use what ever iOS I want...

iPhone desn't allow you to use whatever iOS version you want other than the most current. There is absoluetly no way to downgrade, authorized or non.

  • Switching from ATI to NVIDIA graphic card caused initscript to break

First off, I want to apologize for having to use a random BugMeNot account but the "What is the output of "date -u +%W$(uname)|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'"?" question is literally impossible for me to answer as my Arch Linux system will not boot up.
Well, that aside, I've run into a relatively serious problem. I used to have an ATI card in my system, using the catalyst driver and catalyst-hook to make sure it would keep working after kernel updates but then disaster stroke. My power supply died and dragged my graphic card down with it. After bringing it to a PC store for repair, I now have the NVIDIA GeForce GTX550 Ti card in it. All fine and well, until I wanted to start Arch Linux to remove my catalyst driver and install the NVIDIA one. I started the system, the initscript started to run, did a small part of it's tasks and while processing UDev events it started to spit errors regarding noveau and refused to boot up. (It only showed those errors for a very short time, so it's hard to get the exact error message. I've typed it over from an image I took with my mobile phone and the blurry image may make it possible for this to contain typos)
    Error message:

    Things I have tried:
    - Starting Arch Linux fallback
    - Starting Arch Linux on runlevel 1
    - Shouting at Arch Linux in frustration
However, all three things resulted in the exact same issue.
If anyone knows what to do or has even the slightest hint, I'd love to know.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day,
    - TheLastProject

Hm, I'd try to put the nvidia card out and to plug the gfx cable into the socket of your onboard graphics chip, if any.
Then boot into runlevel 3 (text mode) and uninstall the ati drivers. Poweroff, put your nv-card in, boot and install Xorg and the appropriate nvidia driver (just follow the wikis).
If you can't boot into rl3 at all however, edit the grub's command line (or "kernel line") and add single at the and. After booting into runlevel 1 as a single user this way, enter init 3 for rl3. Finally edit /etc/inittab accordingly. -- Alternatively you can edit /etc/inittab with booting your Arch cd, and being chroot'ed.

  • Best way to 'downgrade' from 10.3.9 to 10.3.8

I tried the 10.3.9 update, and it messed up some ProTools and MIDI functions. Turns out ProTools (6.5 and 6.5) is approved only up through 10.3.8. (I already backed up from Quicktime 7 back to QT6, and that didn't help.)
What's the best way to get back to 10.3.8, and only effect the Mac software (I don't want to move any other necesarry files or apps)
G4 dual mirror door   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   ProTools 6.4, midi, audio gear

Use these instructions to do an Archive & Install of Mac OS X, and then run the Mac OS X 10.38 combo updater. There is no other way of doing this except for running 10.38 and 10.39 on different partitions.

  • Any way to downgrade from 64bit to 32 bit Vista OS

Is there any option to downgrade 64bit machine to 32 bit vista OS...Most of the application is not working with 64bit and Its hard to keep purchasing all softwares for 64bit machine...

There are simpler VPN apps than Citrix, Hamachi for example. The compatibility mode is simply a case of right clicking the executable, going to the compatibility tab and setting the options. I've got a feeling the only thing you'll need to do is set the privilege level to Run as administrator. It's nothing to do with 64bit anything.

  • What is the best way to downgrade from IOS 5 back to factory installed firmware?

Recently iTunes prompted me to upgrade my 3rd generation iPod Touch to IOS 5. Biggest mistake ever! I am missing tons of data now and am experiencing ongoing issues syncing my device to the previous library. Over 600 songs will not transfer for one reason or another. How do I undo this monstrosity and return to the factory installed firmware. HINT: I've already done a restore and although it wipes the iPod clean, the new IOS 5 remains.

Well my reply and solution were deleted by APPLE.
Leave it to say, I was able togo back to a previous IOS without jail breaking which even I don't know why you do it?
But apple, this is the last apple product I'm buying. Talk about draconianism.
    Good luck

  • Downgrading from 10.5.5 -- suggestions please?

    Hi All -
I'm trying to figure the best way to downgrade from 10.5.5 back to 10.5.3 -- seems the new update has blown out my Airport and Bluetooth - not sure how or why, but downgrading just seems the easiest solution after much searching & experimenting with poss. fixes.
After Time Machining everything yesterday (unfortunately at 10.5.5) I havent got space to perform an Archive & Install to restore just the Old OS.....
I suppose erasing w/ the install disk to 10.5.2, followed by a 10.5.3 upgrade before Time Mach./restoring to a previous August back-up is best? I'm just curious which is the best manouever to restore my most recent prefs., cookies, bookmarks, etc....
Not sure if importing the new home folder is enough to get me back to where I was a just few days ago....
thnx in adv. for any info ---
    cheers,
    J.

    Hey Allan ---
thnx again for yr reply. just reporting back --
    - decided to start afresh, back to 10.5.2 install disk and updated to 10.5.3 only... cleaned house, deleleted a load of duplicates and left less weight on the MBPro.
    - unfortunately the Apple BT Keyboard still will not pair at all, although light flashing to search. The Apple BT mouse is fine and pairing. will be taking in to get some genius attention. cant believe the update could blow out my Keybd BT and cause Airport probs. weird.
    - Airport is still running low or off altogther when BT mouse is launched. Seems the BT is interfering with the Airport signal - have read this is not unknown issue.
    - have a few hardware items to be changed - screen (vertical stripes), keyboard (missing strokes), poss. logicboard too - buzzes pops and clicks on audio out. Maybe Airport/BT needs a look at too....
still inside 1yr warranty, so fingers crossed.
    cheers,
    J.
