Way to edit and save .AC3 audio files?

Anyone know if there is a way to edit and save .AC3 audio files in Audition 3?

Every time you open any coded file at all in Audition, you lose quality if you resave it in anything other than an uncompressed format. With most formats, what is even worse is saving them in a different compressed format, because you end up with twice as many different coding artefacts.
What you need to understand is that all of these formats are distribution formats, not editing ones. The basic principle is that you work in an uncompressed format until the last possible moment - ie, distribution. And that, ideally, is the only time you use a compressed format at all. So if you want to use something that's compressed, you uncompress it once, and don't recompress until you absolutely have to.

Yesterday I posted "Is down loading projects to DVD's a safe way to edit and save?". It got deleted. Being a newbe I got it in the wrong forum. I got it in "Post New Thread in Forum Comments". I was asked what path I used; I opened the home page. I ticked Discussions / Start New Discussion. I was so baited by the lure to post, I did not see the small "Adobe Forums" at the top and bottom of the page. I also did not understand the large "Post New Tread in Forum Comments". It was a bit confusing to me. But thanks to you guys I see the light.

I also want to thank you for all the answers I got for my original post. I read up on SATA and I can see that is where I need to make some changes to my portioned HD. I am sure I will be leaning on you for a lot of help for such a "Lost soul". And that I am. I am your typical 61 year old who got started late on computers.
The fact that my HD is portioned is not a good thing I learned. I am not sure if my computer has the Power Supply or the Mother Board to convert to SATA. My question is: Will eSATA work in place of the internal SATA?
Will I need two; one for editing and one for storage.
I have an outboard I Omega with about 650GB, I think. Not sure if it is SATA, but it has worked well for my backup videos and general files.

It should ALL be available with the information the system builder gave you... he DID give you the paperwork that came with the individual components?
Taking the side panel off the case and looking inside with a flashlight might also help... but, of course, you'll need to know what it is you are seeing, and it sounds like you don't know much about hardware, so that may not help much
Sadly, if the person who built this "video editing" computer didn't really understand video editing, you are left with a computer that won't do what you want, and no easy way to make it work
You may need to find a computer shop to do this for you... and make sure part of their price is giving you a written list of everything you HAVE and everything they DO in the way of additions or configuration changes

Can I put both an FCP video file and an ac3 audio file through Compressor t

Hi we are making digital movies of comedy performances on HDV, editing them multiclip on FCP, and successfully putting them through Compressor 3.5 to export as an MPEG2 program stream at 25mbits. These files are then shown in digital cinemas throughout South Africa. For our latest project we recorded with multiple mics and had a sound engineer make all the audio into a 5.1 surround ac3 file, which he used Nuendo for. I thought it would be great to combine the video and audio in FCP but Creative Cow herd deluxe Tom Wolsky told me FCP doesnt support ac3, so the thought is to put the FCP .mov file and the ac3 file into Compressor separately, and have Compressor make an MPEG2 file with audio in ac3. But when I try this I get either the audio or the video in preview, not both together. I would be so grateful for advice, the machine I am making the FCP file on is a 4x2.5ghz powerpc G5 using FCP 6.0.6 on OS 10.4.11. Compressor is being used on a2.66ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running OS 10.6.1 and using Compressor 3.5 with FCP 7.0.
Or should I use an old Logic Pro 7.0 program to fuse the video and audiuo together, and if so, how will Compressor still give me the video and audio output codecs I want?

I may not be comprehending this fully, but you can encode audio and video separately in compressor, and then combine them in Quicktime player. In Snow Leopard, you need to use Quicktime Player 7 to do this since the new Quicktime Player X has no "Pro" features yet.
"Add to Movie" is the menu item. I forget the method to bring in the audio so it plays under the video, but it will be in perfect sync.
You then save this new file.
BTW, I would use the G5 for the compressing because 3.0.5 gives better outputs than 3.5 at this point.

What adobe program can open, edit and save eps vector files?

I have an engraver that accepts only eps vector drawings. I need a program that can open zipped eps files so I can view, edit and print those drawings. I need to leave them as eps drawings to use with my machine.

A product with the name Acrobat Reader doesn't exist. With Adobe Acrobat you can fill and save forms.

Please tell me what the problem is with the converted file. Are you unable to edit it, or did it not convert as you expected?
Can you tell me how the PDF was created? (Different applications write PDF files differently, and some aren't as good as others--that can affect conversion).

You can do this to show a file on the client file system...
web.show_document('file://c:\mypath\myfile.doc', '_blank');
This will lauch the word document in word. The user can then edit and save it from word. This basically is calling your web browser and your web browser then hands off the file to a helper app. This will work for any file type that the client has helper app to display.

My boss cannot create a new subfolder by pressing "new folder" until he's already saved the file to his desktop. A "read only" error appears the first time. Is there a way to create and save to subfolder directly? It's Mavericks/Macbook Pro

Once he saves the file to his Desktop he clicks on “save as” again and then he can create a new subfolder by pressing “new folder.” Is there a way to create and save to a subfolder directly without having to first save somewhere else?

Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.

The iTunes-only way is: figure out where you want your excerpt to begin and end. Right-click the track, Get Info, Options tab, set the Start/Stop times accordingly, and OK out. Right-click again, and choose Create XXX version (where XXX is the format indicated in your Import settings). Right-click one more time, and unset the Start/Stop times.
This procedure will leave the full track in place, and will create a new file and library entry with just your excerpt.

Sound File Write Simple (Windows, Linux)
Writes data from an array of waveforms to a .wav file. This VI automatically opens, writes to, and closes the .wav file. Windows You must have DirectX 8.0 or later to use this VI. Linux You must have the Open Sound System (OSS) driver to use this VI.
So, the data input to Sound File Write Simple.vi is an array of waveforms. However, if you only have one waveform, you can build an array that contains only your single waveform using the Build Array VI. As described in the LabVIEW Help description:
Build Array
Concatenates multiple arrays or appends elements to an n-dimensional array. You also can use the Replace Array Subset function to modify an existing array.
So, for example, you could run your single waveform into the Build Array function and get an array of waveforms containing only your waveform. You could then wire this array of waveforms to the Sound File Write Simple.vi. This is shown in the image below.

Need to export an AC3 audio file from FCP

Does anyone know how to export (or convert to) and AC3 audio file from FCP? My compressor is not currently working, is there another way? I have Sorenson Squeeze and FCP 5.0.4. Thank you!!!

Upload your audio file to my Public folder and wait 20 mins. I'll compress the audio to .ac3 for you if you're in a crunch. Check back in my Public Folder and I'll have it there for you.

In SharePoint 2013, some of the userswith contribute or full control rights are not able to edit and save office doucuments to SharePoint library.

In SharePoint 2013, Office 2010 and IE 8. Office web apps is not configured.
Some users with Contribute or full control are not able to edit and save documents back to SharePoint library.
When they try to save they are getting following error:
1. https://.....pptx is read-only. Do you want to save changes to a different file name?
2. Project canot access "https://...."
Try one of the following
The file may be temporarily open by another program. wait a momoment and try again.
A file with the same name may already exists. Save it with a different file name.
You may be trying to save to a read only folder. Save to a different folder instead.
Please help me with this issue.

Thanks again for quick response.
I have requested users who are having this issue to try check in/ check out, and share the results.
Result with CheckIn/CheckOut:
User was able to check out but no edit option.
'Edit Document' option under 'Files' tab was greyed out. I did check permissions every thing seems fine he has full control over the site and document library.
Please advise.
