Way to get access to the context menu
I assume there is no official way to get access to the context menu, so you can add a menu item when, say, you right-click on a photo in the publish service collection. You can tweak the behaviour for the two existing items, but there does not seem to be a way to add your own.
Regular menu Export, Library, Help menu items are too coarse, as they apply across the whole app. It would be nice to be able to add an item that invokes a script to do some stuff to the item.
I can hack in a workaround using the various edit collection callbacks, but this is a kludge of the highest order.
Context menu access would be nice. If squeaking helps, maybe an FR - I've already cast one, and assume Adobe only counts one per person...

I downgraded to 3.x because when I browse I have many new open windows (I have been using FF for so long I automatically select the second option). Seems stupid to change the order of the context menu when it has been the other way forever.

And there is an option to use a menu editor to put them back detailed in that thread as well. The problem, of course, is that you need to perform a complex customization to every computer on which you use Firefox in order to fix a problem that should never have been created, never made it through beta, and that the developers won't fix because they believe that they are right.
Frankly, eventually you get used to it. But in the mean time, they have annoyed, and in many cases pissed-off a large segment of their users for no reason at all. -
I have several dropdown lists in my bookmarks toolbar and would like to access the properties for some of the the items. This used to work fine. However, now, when I go to the list and place the cursor on a particular item, the context menu that is usually available on a right click disappears when I try to access one of the options. This is the menu that begins with Open. What can I do to regain this functionality? I really need the information in the Properties section. I'm using Firefox 3.6.8
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Also check the Mouse driver settings in the Control Panel. -
I just recently got the ipad2, but before I had a chance to sync it to itunes, my pc died. I'm pretty new to all of this, so I don't know if there's any way to get access to my itunes library. There is a ton of songs there, most of which I exported from files that were on my pc, so not all of it was purchased through itunes. Does anyone know of a way to get access the itunes library without syncing your device? I'm clueless...
OMG...I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Since my computer is a goner, I don't have any other way to access all that music.

I once created an account and changed meanwhile my Apple ID. Now, when trying to log in to iCloud, I get the message: "You are already logged in". I cannot get access to the account in the way, that, for example, the options appear on the right hand side.

To be more precise: I am talking about the logging-in within the System Preferences on my iMac.
When trying to log in with the old ID, I get no access, i.e. it says "Try again"...-Trying the same with the new one gives me the result I mentioned in my first question...
Now I found out how to do it: I had to erase all accounts-then I could sign in with my Apple-ID. Thanks again. -
I created an "Untitled" test service, then deleted it. It no longer exists in Library/Services/ but still loads in the context menu and finder services menu. Reboots do not change the behavior. How do I get rid of it?
... and mysteriously, it's gone again. Multiple reboots across the day between then and now, plus a few hibernations as I moved about. It's as if Finder cached the [deleted!] workflow file and continued to operate off of the cache for an indeterminate time....

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone. -
When I right-click on an icon and get the context menu, it's got some very lengthy names next to some of the programs (looks like build numbers or something). Sometimes it goes for 50 characters!
Question:
Where is this data stored (that is, the data that is actually appearing on that context menu) and how can I change it? I would love context menus that are slim and short, with just a one-word program file name...

The list that shows in the Open With section is generated either dynamically, or on startup and stored in the launchservices database. Which application will open which file is determined by the settings in each application's info.plist file. Launchservices scans each info.plist to determine the relevant file types for each app and then displays them as options when you go to Open With.
If you want to change the name of the app as it is displayed in that list, you'll need to figure a way to change the name as it appears in info.plist
You can access the info.plist files by Ctrl-clicking the app and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. If you are going to try editing it, it's a lot easier if you install the Property List Editor included as part of the Developer Tools on your Mac OS X DVD. -
Access DOM from context menu (javascript)

I' trying to create a script to extend InDesign.
Here is my scenario:
Open InDesign file
Import XML data in the layout
For one item in the XML tree, in a context menu, load external data from a custom webservice.
I'm able to create the context menu, but what I don't know how to do is to get the right XML node when focusing on an item from the layout.
Does someone know how to access DOM with Javascript script?

It really depends on what you want to target. If your item is at the first level ( not into a group ), you can adress it either by its index or its name or its label if any:
var pi = app.activeDocument.pageItems[0]
or
var pi = app.activeDocument.pageItems.itemByName ( "foo" ); //given that the name of the object is foo in the layer palette.
or
var pi = app.activeDocument.pageItems.itemByID ( 123 ); //given that the id of the object is 123.
if you want to adress an object with a specific label, it's longer process. You have to loop every pageItems and compare their label.
Also if you know the nature of the object, you may target the collection directly :
var tf = pp.activeDocument.textFrames[0];
On the contrary if your intention is to work on the xml node, you may also loop through the xml structure.
To be honest, there are several ways to work in your case.
In any cases, don't hesitate to read the InDesign Scripting Guide which would answer most of these topics

How to I add options to the Context Menu for html files under Site Content
Currently in Web Page Composer... if a developer wants to get the Target URL to an html page in a WPC site (i.e. under the Site Content folder) they have to take several steps... Content Menu -> Details -> Settings -> Properties -> Access Links -> copy the Target URL. I would like to add this ability (i.e. to copy the target URL to clipboard) as a option to the "context menu" of each html file. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how it can be done? It can be a global change if necessary.

Right click on the mail list doesn't open the context menu any more.

Right click on email in list should open a drop down selection.
Usually a crossed line through something denotes that it is marked as deleted in an imap mail account.

See if there is a conflict with an addon.
Restart Thunderbird in safe mode.
Help > Restart with addons disabled.
then perform the same test; right click on email in list.
Do you get the drop down, if yes, then one of your addons is causing the conflict.
You would have to disbale each in turn to locate which one is the problem.
Maybe the addon needs updating.
Report back on results.

I have the same problem too. When i restarted with addons disablem problem dissapeared but when i switch to normal mode and disable all off the plugins and addons the problem still remains.

My right click is not working and producing the context menu or ability to drag files and folders. I just spoke with a phone support person and we checked that all the mouse/trackpad options for right click were correct and checked.
