Way to help keep my newer music handy?

Hey everyone. My library has gotten pretty large, and that makes it more and more difficult to keep things handy. When I used to buy CDs, it was easy to just keep the new ones with me. But now I buy most of my music on itunes and new purchases can easily slip through the cracks.
What I'm interested in is a way to manage my new music so I can easily browse my new material and find my newer albums. I have tried a smart playlist, with the criteria being music added within the last 6 months from the itunes store... but it seems as though I can't get it to sort the albums, and it just ends up being one long playlist with no way to pick an album from within this list. Any suggestions? Thanks

You can sort a playlist the same as your library. Not exactly sure how it works in version 8 (I'm still on version 7), but when you select the playlist, click the tab to sort by artist, then change the view from list to album view. In 7, you have a little View tab in the upper right of the window. It toggles from list to album view to cover flow. Perhaps it's still the same in 8. (But it's definitely possible...I'm sure this wasn't eliminated in verison 8.)

I used to use Genius to help me find new music to purchase and found the feature to be very helpful.  Is this feature still available?

In iTunes 12, make sure that the menu bar is showing, click on Store, and click on Turn On Genius.
NOTE: You may have to explore a little, because this applies for the OS X version of iTunes.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, on the Classic you can't jump from a playlist directly into just an album. +(just as an aside, you can do that with the Touch, iPhone or Nano 4G)+
For a Classic, your choices are to either:
a- Start the playlist at the first song of the desired album, then manually stop the iPod at the end of the album before the next one commences.
b- Use the playlist as a guide to remind you of recent albums, then go into the Artist or Album menu to select one.
c- View the smart playlist contents, then add the songs of an album one-by-one to the On The Go playlist and then start the OTG playlist.
Note that if you're having trouble with the order of your "recently added" smart playlist, set the order of the playlist in iTunes (as "Album By Artist"), click on the playlist name and select "Copy to Play Order" to lock in the order, then re-sync the iPod.

  • Zen V Plus Help, Keeps Scanning Through Music.

I just a Zen V Plus today and I loaded some music onto it right away. The moment I tried to play the music, it scans through the list and then stops, without playing anything. For example: I tried to play track 3 on one of the cd playlists and it scanned through the rest of the CD and got back to track one, where it stopped and wouldn't play anything. I've tried using different playlists, but it still does the same thing, scans to number , then sto

What can I do to fix this problem?

well my mom gave me a creative zen v plus but she lost the cd that comes with it. how do i put music on it's? I tried doing it through windows media player, but after i put songs on it and unpluged it from my computer, it said that there were no music on it. all it did was take up space. what do i do?
You don't need the Creative software to transfer music.
You do need Windows XP (SP2) & Windows Media Player 0 or .
You can get manuals from the 'Support->Product Documentation' link in the page banner above. The link includes the longer manual that comes on the disc. It's probably worth downloading them & having a read.
does not normally appear as a removable disk. If it does, the 'Removable Disk' feature is enabled. That means you can add data to a section of the Zen VP memory just like a USB disk. But any music you put there will not be seen by the player in its music library. And it uses space up that you could otherwise use for music.
The manual explains how to enable and disable the removable disk feature.
With XP SP2 & WMP 0 or , you can drag & drop content using Windows Explorer and the Zen VP icon in 'My Computer'. Make sure you put it in the right directories (the director names will help you).Message Edited by daytona955 on 07-05-200707:4 AM

  • What is the best way to continuosly back up itunes music?

I have an external hard drive and I copied my itunes folder onto it for an initial back up.
I'm continuously adding music and would like to know if there's an easy way to add just the new music I upload every week to the "itunes backup" folder on the external drive or is the only way to back up (to the external drive) all of the music that I'm continuously adding to copy the entire itunes folder to the external drive once in awhile (the initial back up took up most of the external drive space, so it wouldn't fit more than one copy of my itunes folder)?
I'm hoping there's an easy way to do this, as I'd prefer not to use discs.
    toshiba   Windows XP Pro

    Use a backup program.

  • How do you access list of new music added each week?

could someone help me access new music added each week.
I used to click on new releases and get all new music and added music , now that doesn't work

After Creating a custom list > Create page > Click Page in the Ribbon > Edit >  Insert > Apppart > Click on the list you created > Add.
I was able to add to another page and replicate changes on both ends.

  • Is there a way to keep all the music on my ipod when using a new computer

i want to keep all my music but when i go to sync my ipod to my new computer itunes says it will erase all my music. I dont want to lose 600 songs

    Try this way:
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
Saving data to a computer before setting it up again is also explained here: How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • Enhanced podcasts not working in iOS 5; new music app keeps crashing

I just updated to iOS5 and regularly view enhanced podcasts.  after the update, I can no longer figure out how to view the enhanced version anymore.  I get the sound, but the image does not change.  Can anybody please help?
on top of this the new music app in iOS5 keeps crashing and I have to restart the iPad all the time.

Having the same issue except for the crashes. Everything seems to be working, just not the way it used to. The enhanced podcasts were great, the ones that I subscribed to changed the backgrounds often and linked to other sites and gave some great info. Now... Nothing!
I have been reading that everyone is having issues with podcasts and the button to get new episodes, or whatever it was called, and this may just be another glitch. I sure wish they could fix it. I listen to podcasts more that I ever listened to music.

    I really need your help. I'm 14.
I really need to put new music on my iPod and I have plugged it into my computer and its taking ages to back-up and it wont let me do anything until its done. It will take over 3 hours if it keeps on going like this. Please help me. I don't know what's wrong with it.
It might be because I haven't backed it up in a while but the reason I haven't is cause it takes this long! Anyone know what to do?

You can redownload most itunes purchase by the following. What you can redownload depends upon where you are located.

  • How do I get rid of songs with complications? I would just restore my ipod, but I bought alot of new music, and I can't download it to my computer, I really don't want to lose it. Any help?

So, awhilw back I tryed to sync my ipod with my friends itunes library, my ipod didn't have any room to store all the music so all the songs came up but can't be played. I tryed to sync my ipod to my itunes library, and it keeps saying the ipod's over capacity and won't download any of the new music I bought to the library. If I can somehow back up my new music to the icloud or something, that'd be great that way I could just restore my ipod then download all my music back on it. Is there a way to do that or did I just waste thirty bucks on music I can't listen to?

You need to delete the music you got from your friend. You fried does not have the licence/right to give you a copy of it.
I would restore the iPod from a backup on your computer and sync your own media to the iPod.

  • Is there a way to "monitor" for new music as in WMP?

I am reluctantly using iTunes for the first time in many years and I'm not ready to have all new music (whether purchased or manually imported) live in my iTunes folder. Currently, the only files in that folder are my WMAs that were converted to mp3 and for clarity's sake I want them to stay there rather than be integrated with the original files. I am fine with new media going there initially. However, to maintain the organization I've already got, I will move new files outside of the iTunes folder. WMP 11 allows me to continually monitor certain folders for addition to the library. Can this be done in iTunes or must I manually add them every time? (with "File> Add folder to library")
Also, and because there seems to be differing opinions on this out there, my guess is that in the "Preferences >Advanced" tab, "iTunes Music Folder Location" ONLY refers to where new music goes (and thereforecan remain just the way it is - "C:\Users\Erin\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music"), and both boxes should remain unchecked. Is this correct?
Thanks to all who are there to help us noobs,
    Erin

    Download and use iTunes FolderWatch.
