Way to import photos back into iphoto with tags intact?

I use iPhoto Library Manager to manage a few different albums ... decided to re-consolidate ... exported em out, then re-imported them into the default iPhoto Library ... but alas, the tags were gone!
I was wise enough to leave the other album alone ... is there a way I can do this without losing the tags?
thanks Mac ppl

The only way to do this is to move the files between libraries using iPhoto Library Manager. Check out the merge feature.

  • Is there an easy way to import those misfortunate photos back into iphoto

I moved my iphoto library to my external drive so that both my laptop and imac can use the synced photo library.
... but now my imac iphoto says I can not open my iphoto library, because is from a newer version of iphoto. And the application then closes.
I figured out my newer laptop has a newer version of iphoto on it.
    Imac iphoto version is 6.0.6
    Laptop iphoto version s 7.1.5
I Downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This created a new library but says a lot of my pictures are lost. I can search and find them on my external drive and reimport, but there are a lot of them! Any suggestions?
I'd rather use the 6.0.6 on my imac than pay for an upgrade.
    I just won't use my laptop's iphoto.
BUT, how can I get my 6.0.6 working again with all of my pictures in tact? Or is there an easy way to import those misfortunate photos back into iphoto painlessly?
    Any other solutions??
Will Snow Leopard have the newest iPhoto included?
    Thank you!

If you want to revert to iPhoto 6 then you have two choices:
    1. Restore from your back up
    or
    2. Create a new v6 Library and start over.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'.
Go into the Old iPhoto Library (Right Click on the Library Icon and choose ‘Show Package Contents) and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the old iPhoto Library.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
“Snow Leopard” is an OS Upgrade. While we have no idea what will be included with it, on past experience, no, it will not include a new version of iPhoto.

  • I my harddrive with my photo library went bad, but I have the photos on my ipad, ipod and iphone.  How to I get those photos back into iphoto on my macbook?

The external drive with my photo library went bad, but I have the photos on my ipad, ipod and iphone.  How to I get those photos back into iphoto on my macbook?

Are the photos you want to send back to your mac on your iPad, iPod, iPhone saved to the camera roll? If you have photos in other albums (not camera roll) share them to the camera roll.
Then connect your device via USB and lauch iPhoto. You will see your device as a camera in iPhoto.  Import those photos like you would import from a camera.

  • Is there a way to import photos stored in iPhoto into Adobe Bridge CS6?

I am having a problem opening my iPhotos in Adobe Bridge or Photoshop. Any help would be appreciated.

    1. Bridge or iPhoto: take your pick. The both do the same job so using both makes no sense. Trying to use them both will add confusion and complexity that you don't need.
    2.  You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> Advanced -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Moving photos back into iphoto from DVD back-up

I have lost several hundred photos (through my own error). I have them backed up on DVD in the iphoto format. Iphoto recognizes the disk when I put it in.
I'm wondering the best way to transfer these photos back onto my computer and into my iphoto library. Drag and drop?
The thumbnails of the lost photos remain in my iphoto on my computer so I was thinking of rebuilding the thumbnail cache (which iphoto sometimes prompts me to do when I open it) before I import. (how would I do this?)
    Thanks!

Just drag the disk image onto the Library icon in the left hand pane and your photos will be imported into the library in the Events and albums that they were in when you backed them up.
But first I would delete those "damaged" photos from the library and then import from the disk. Use iPhoto's delete method so that you delete not only the thumbnail files but any related modified files. That will get rid of a lot of flotsam in the library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Import photo edits into iPhoto

When i take a photo on my iPhone and use editing software, the photo is then saved on my phone with the edits saved.
However when i import the photos into iPhoto, the edits are not carried through.
For example if i take a photo on my iPhone and enhance with Camera + and save that photo, when I import into iPhoto, the enhancements do not carry over into my iPhoto album.
Is there any way to fix this?

It will change with the new Photos.app, but until then see:  iPhoto and Aperture don't have edits to photos you import from iOS 8 devices - Apple Support

Is there a way to drop or import photos from desktop to iWeb instead of using iPhoto in media browser?

Is there a way to drop or import photos from desktop to iWeb instead of using iPhoto in media browser?
Yes, drop the photos from the desktop to a iWeb Photopage. If you have an empty Album page, it will be automatically filled.

  • How do I import Delicious bookmarks into Firefox with tags?

How do I import Delicious bookmarks into Firefox Bookmarks Organizer so the tags port over? I tried importing but the tags are not coming over.

I recommend Xmarks. For the long-winded reasons why there's nothing better, read below.
    [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/ https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/]
    # Once installed, run the setup wizard and sign up for a free Xmarks account.
    # Once signed up, sync your bookmarks.
    # Head over to [http://my.xmarks.com/ my.xmarks.com/] and click the '''Tools''' menu option on the page, then choose '''Import Bookmarks From Del.icio.us...'''
    # Enter your del.icio.us login information so Xmarks can import your bookmarks.
    # You should see a list of your del.icio.us bookmarks. Click the '''CHECK ALL''' button, then the '''IMPORT CHECKED ITEMS''' button.
    # When Xmarks next syncs your bookmarks, you will have all of your del.icio.us bookmarks complete with tags, in a folder named "Imported from Delicious ''date of import''".
    # If you're the untrusting sort, change your del.icio.us account password.
There are two official Delicious extensions at the moment. "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/delicious-bookmarks/ Delicious Bookmarks]" which not compatible with Firefox 4.0.x, and "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/delicious-extension/ Delicious Extension]" which is marked as compatible but doesn't actually work.
    @u48998 |
Slurp didn't work for me. I got all the prompts like I was supposed to, but clicking the '''Export''' button on the delicious page changed its text to '''Please Wait...''' and it just got stuck like that with no way to continue.
Apart from that, I was rather uneasy about installing an unreviewed extension from an author I've never heard of.
    @the-edmeister |
You have that backwards. It's Firefox that does not either import or export tags from or to bookmarks.html. The only way to preserve tags when exporting is to create a json backup; these types of files wipe out all existing bookmarks when imported.

  • Problem re-importing deleted photos back into iPhoto

I have deleted some photos in iPhoto but now want to import them from the SD card again. It won't let me do it, says they are already imported.

I found another thread that suggests checking the "include videos" in the Photo sync part of iTunes. I'll try that tonight.

  • HT201317 No video via photo stream into iPhoto with iOS7?

I can see the video I shared with my 5s iOS7 on other devices with iOS7 (iPad, other phones with iOS7) but not in my photo shared folder my own iPhoto on an iMac?
My iMac is updated. Is there an update coming our way to allow this to happen?

You're right. It looks like Aperture and iPhoto need to be updated by Apple to take advantage of this new feature, ie, videos in photostreams.  It's strange that Apple doesn't document this fact anywhere as far as I can see.  They should have explicitly stated this as a limitation in mac documentation once IOS 7 was released.
I'm thinking this feature will come along with the release of OS X Mavericks, but that's just a guess...  anyone know for sure?

  • Importing Aperture 3 library back into iPhoto 11

I have 15,000 photos that I imported last summer from iPhoto into Aperture 3 last summer. I'm not happy with Aperture 3 -- it's way too slow on my machine and I want to move all of my library back to iPhoto. It looks like the migration is only set up in one direction. How can I move all of my photos back into iPhoto en masse and have events, places and faces work?

In brief: you don't. Migration is only one way. You're exporting and importing.
You will need to export from Aperture, choosing to export Originals or versions (or both - but remember they will be treated as individual pics in iPhoto, there is no way to connect them as Original/Modified pairs again). In the Aperture export dialogue you can write the metadata to the file - this will include keywords, captions, places etc, but it will not include faces. There is no way to share faces back to iPhoto. Period. You can use Faces as the basis for keywords but they'll need to be rescanned when back in iPhoto)
To have them in Events, the easiest thing is to export from Aperture project by project to folders, then import the folders.
Obviously, you'll lose any Albums. Slideshows, Books etc that you've done in Aperture.
You don't mention the specs of your machine. It really would be easier to sort Aperture out...

  • How 2 get edited photo from iphoto app back into iPhoto?

I have the new iPhoto app.
I can't seem to get my edit photos back into iPhoto on my imac.
I thought save to iTunes would do it but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Sure would like to just go back to my mac and find the photo updated.
I have the photo stream turned off and just sync with a cable.
    Problem 2
The photos and albums seem to be in random order.  This makes it almost impossible to find the photo I want to edit.
    Can anybody please help?

<If you are using the cable: Connect your iPad > open iPhoto > select your iPad on the left under devices > Import <button top right of iPhoto (blue button).

    <Do not import through iTunes.
Sorry - that was no help.
If I edit a photo in e iPhoto app then connect and bring up iPhoto on my mac the iPad device has no photos to import.
I have imported hundreds of photos from iPhones and iPads - I know how to import.
Even if there was a photo laying there to import - that is not what I want because...
Imagine if I had 100 photos then edited all 100 photos on my iPad.
Then if I imported them I would now have 200 photos in iPhoto on my mac.
I want the edited photo to update the original just as tho I edited it in iPhoto on my mac.
So I could "Revert to Original" if I needed to but probably never would.
So the question is when you share to iTunes where does it go?
Also the new album it creates "Edited" - What's the story on that?

  • Saving photos edited in PS Elements back  into iPhoto

I'm new to PS Elements and love it but am having trouble saving photos. I have set my preferences in iPhoto to open in PS elements for editing. So far that's great. My question is when I'm finished editing in PS Elements how do I save the edited photo back into iPhoto?? I'm sure there's an easy solution but beyond saving into PhotoLibrary in Finder then trying to find in within the many many folders and dragging into iPhoto - I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

    Jodeth,
That's great. Yup, it's those little things!
You can always do a "save as" and save to the desktop. This will not change the image within iPhoto which is sometimes a way to go if you don't want the image changed within iPhoto but want to use the edited image for something else.

  • Importing File Structure into iPhoto

I need help (or perhaps someone could kindly point me in the right direction) importing the file structure I had set up for my photos. Currently, I have my photos filed in an external drive. The structure I have created is, for example, 2008 folder, then under that 2008 folder I have a folder for each month, then in each month I have an events folder (christmas, tree cutting, etc...). This would look something like this: 2008/12/Christmas Day. Is there a way to import this structure into iPhoto?
Thanks for the help... (if you've made it this far!)!
    -Ann Marie

    Ann Marie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can achieve that by using virtual folders, 2007, 2008, etc. and the have smart albums in each of those folder for the months. The criteria for the January smart album would be "Date is the range 01/01/2007 to 01/31/2007".
• Need help in the transfer/upload iWeb photos back to iPhoto

I have created an iWeb page with numerous family and other photos taken from iPhoto. Since that point, I have lost those files in iPhoto due to some operator error. ( no i didnt back up first, but thats set up now )
Anyway, I am wondering if I can upload/transfer these photos BACK iPhoto.
    Please Help!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Is the website published online? If so, make a new folder on your computer's desktop (File > New Folder). Go to the website. Drag the pictures from the website to the folder. Once complete you can drag the folder to the iPhoto icon in your dock to import them back into iPhoto.
__Keep in mind that when an image is added to iWeb it is optimized for web use. This means these pictures will not be the same as the original.
    Alternative:
You can extract the images out of iWeb.
1.) Go to Home > Library > Application Support > iWeb
2.) Click on the "Domain" file in here and go to File > Duplicate to make a copy (The Domain contains everything that you have in iWeb).
3.) Right-click or control click on the Domain copy.
4.) Choose "Show Package Contents" from the drop down menu that appears.
5.) Leave the window that appears open and go to File > Find.
6.) At the top of the search window click on "Domain copy"
7.) Change "Kind" "Any" to "Kind" "Image".
__This will show you any and all image within the Domain copy file
8.) Drag all the images you find in here that you want to a new folder on your desktop.
__Leave the "Thumbnail" images as these are very small versions of the full size picture (unless of course you want them).
__Once you have all the images you want you can discard the Domain Copy and drag the folder you created to the iPhoto icon in the dock to add them to iPhoto.
    Hope that helps.
