Ways of enlarging a thumbprint image

Ways of enlarging a thumbprint image
Hi All,
Could someone clever please look at the following URL:
http://www.akdstudio.co.uk/
When one clicks on the images, a screen sized version appears
on the
left of a blank screen.
I created this effect by simply linking the small image to
the large
image. I would like to improve on this.
I do not like the fact that, with the present method, the
large image is
not centered. The only way ***I know of*** to achieve that
would be to
create an html page for each, centre the image on the html
page, and
link the small image to the corresponding html page.
Creating the extra html pages is rather time consuming when
many images
are involved (as is usually the case with me).
Can anyone suggest a simpler way of giving website visitors
access to
large images when clicking on a thumbprint.
I have tried Project Seven's Gallery Magic but do not like
that fact
that with Gallery Magic the thumbprints take up so much space
that the
large image either is not very large, or the visitor has to
scroll in
order to see a screen sized large image.
I resize the large image to a maximum with of 750 x 480 px,
so that they
fit onto the screen without scrolling.
btw I am not, at this stage, keen on doing anything with
Flash.
What do you think?
Thanks.
Adrian

Hi John,
Thank you for giving me that link. I will try it out.
Concerning P7 Gallery Magic - perhaps I am not using it
properly (I have
to read the Manual completely, I suppose). Visitors to many
sites,
especially a photographer's site, want to see the images not
only
recognisably large, but as large as possible, i.e. filling
the screen,
say 766 x 480 px.
In Gallery Magic, since the large image appears on the same
screen as
the thumbprint, the large image has to be smaller than full
screen, and
the visitor will have to scroll to bring the large image up
to fill the
screen (will letting the thumbprints etc disappear on top).
Is that clearer?
Now is there a facility in GM which I have overlooked or am
using
incorrectly.
Thanks for your help, and have a nice Sunday.
Adrian

  • The best way to enlarge an image for print?

    Hello
    I've been designing for print for several years. Occasionally I design large display posters/banners (A0, 6-sheet, billboard etc) which use a photographic image. Assuming that the image I have is smaller at 300ppi than the final print, what is the best way to enlarge the image? Based on my experience, it seems that there are three options (to make it simple, the example here assumes that my image is exactly half the size it needs to be printed at. I'm also assuming that the file I will supply to the printer will be a high res pdf exported from Indesign):
    1. Set up the Indesign file at 100% size, place the photo and have Indesign upscale the image to 200%. Export a high res pdf for print.
    2. Set up the indesign file at 50% size, place the photo with no upscaling by Indesign. Export a high res pdf and have the printer blow it up to 200%.
    3. Set up the Indesign file at 100% size, enlarge the photo in Photoshop to 200%, and place the photo with no upscaling in Indesign. Export a high res pdf for print.
    I have been advised that having Indesign upscale the image is not a good idea, and I never do this. I guess that option 3 is probably best, with Photoshop doing the work and the resulting pdf being the correct size. However, it's not always possible to do this – some posters are huge which means that the enlarged photo and the high res pdf will both be huge files, and I think also Indesign has a maximum document set up size anyway. So sometimes I use option 2.
    So firstly, why is it a bad idea for Indesign to upscale the image (as I say, I never do this, but I would like to know the technical reason)? Secondly, if the choice is between re-sizing myself in Photoshop prior to exporting the pdf, or having the printer enlarge a high res pdf, which is better? When I say 'better' I mean in terms of the quality/sharpness of the end result. Also, I assume that vector elements in my design will not be adversely affected in either scenario, is that assumption correct?
    Thanks

    Sorry for the added confusion.  It appears, after doing some checking in my CS2 apps ( InDesign), there is no setting for DPI / Output Resolution.  Only Transparency Flattener Setting. See screen shot below...
    If you select Postscript File in the Print Presets, you can access resolution settings for transparency flattening there, too...
    in the "Advanced" tab dialog...
    But, I like having the option in Illustrator 10 File > Document Setup where I can set the output resolution to whatever is appropriate.  In this case ( below ) I've got it set for 5080dpi / 300ppi.  You also have Effect > Document Raster Effect Setting where you can select 300ppi ( see screen shot below )...
    ...and Raster Effects Resolution setting...
    I may have misled you because the apps I have are not CS6; but you should be able to follow along in your CS6 apps in various settings dialogs.  Mainly, resolution settings can be set in the Print dialog boxes.
    The main thing to keep in mind is, because you are enlarging upon output, the base scaled down file must have enough resolution to maintain its appearance at the final size.  In the case of 50% or 25% file resolution should be maximum ( for current apps it appears 300ppi is considered high resolution.  Most apps now leave output resolution setting adjusted in the RIP / Print driver.
    I still use Distiller because it allows me to setup custom PDF settings and save them for future use.  You very well may be able to do that in CS6 apps; but I have a tried-and-true workflow that utilizes Distiller as a personal preference.

    what is the best way to enlarge a part of a photo in lightroom?  How much cn you enlarge it and get an acceptable result?

    The way I would do it would be to crop the image so that it only displays what you want, then export that image and specify the dimensions. You will have to experiment with different export sizes to determine what would be acceptable for your situation. You might be more forgiving or more demanding than anyone who would venture to answer that question. That's the nice part about digital photography; you can experiment to your heart's content until you get the result you are looking for.

  • In PSE9 is there a way to enlarge the levels adjustment panel and effects panel for viewing?

    In PSE9 is there a way to enlarge the levels adjustment panel for viewing?  The histogram is so small.
    I know we can use the arrow keys to change the settings for the histogram, but it is just the overall view of it I would like to see bigger.
    I think with PSE8 the effects panel could be dragged out of the panel bin and made longer AND wider, but in PSE9 it can only be made longer when dragged outside the panel bin.
    And I think the whole panel bin could be dragged wider or narrower.

    not really apart from changing the resolution, but theres a a couple of things you can do
    you can change the "minimum font size" in Safari (and other apps) in the General tab - this will enlarge any fonts to the minimum size you specify if they are under that size
    the features in the accessiblilty section of system preferences might be worth a look as well
    the pinch zoom feature is also useful
    unfortunately there isn't a 1-button setting somewhere that can do this, because apps, documents, web pages, images etc all work independently from each other, they use different font types, different zoom levels, etc. You can't just enlarge them all in sync without content getting jumbled up/distorted. if enlarge an app/page/document and get it looking good, on the next one you would probably need to zoom in at a different level for it to look right

  • I need to resize my canvas after finishing my layers, how can I also enlarge the entire image?

    I spent many hours working on a project and failed to check canvas size before completing all of my layers. I need a bigger size canvas to print on regular 8.5x11 paper. After I change the canvas size, is there a way to enlarge all of my layers at once, without terribly screwing up the resolution? I'm not completely familiar with many of the available tools in CS6. Thank you:)

    So my guess since I can not see what you did, is instead of using the image>image size to resize the entire document, you added canvas leaving the layers at their original size.
    You can either select all the layers and group them or create a smart object. Then scale the group or object. How much you enlarge the layers will determine the quality change. The exception to that is any layers that are vector like paths and live type as they are resolution independant.

  • My mac wireless mouse suddenly and without apparent reason enlarges the page image - why

    Why does the Mac wireless mouse occasionally, without apparent reason, enlarge the page image? When this happens there seems to be no way of reversing the process except by closing the page and re-opening. I believe that it may only happen when 'online'. I use Safari mostly - haven't noticed as to whether the same happens on, say, Chrome. Also, it may happen when 'offline' - haven't determined this yet. Another of my family has the same problem.

    It could be that it is picking up what it thinks is a double tap.
    It sometimes doesn't take much and may not be noticable
    by you.  The same will happen to me on occasion. There really
    needs to be some adjustment for sensitivity like double click
    speed that used to be on older mice.    Go to Universal Access
    in Preferences.  Select mouse, then press Mouse Options...
    button.  You can adjust double click and scrolling speed.
    (Seems to me this should be part of the mouse prefs).
    The double tap is a zoom feature of Safari and to revert back to
    normal size again, just double tap.

  • Is there a way to create a TINY image for B2G, similar to TINY_ANDROID ?

    Hi, is there a way to create a TINY image from Firefox OS similar to that of TINY ANDROID image which is used for Kernel Development. Android gives an option to create with the flag BUILD_TINY_ANDROID, just wanted to know if there is anything similar in Firefox OS.
    If there is no support from B2G, can we still create one?
    Any suggestions would be very helpful.
    Thanks

    I'm not sure that anybody here would know the answer to this. I'd suggest asking in #b2g on irc.mozilla.org. In case you don't have an IRC client, here's a web-based one: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.mozilla.org/#b2g . A lot of the b2g developers tend to hang out in there, and if anybody knows, they would.

  • HT201335 Hi.  I have an apple tv and am able to mirror the image on my ipad to my tv, however it doesn't fill the full screen.  Is there a way to get a full image on my 32" Tv.  Thanks a lot for your help

    HI.I have an apple TV and am able to mirror the image on my ipad onto the screen.  However, it doesn't fill the full 32" screen.  Is there some way to project a bigger image onto the Tv.  Thanks for your help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
    You may wish to try each of the settings in ‘Settings > Audio & Video > Adjust for AirPlay overscan’ for the best setting that suits you.

  • Is there a way to stretch a background image rather than repeating it?

    I have a one celled table with a background image.  It's really just a gradient strip (gradient going from top to bottom - ending in fade to white).  I want the image to continue all the way across the page.  If I set it to repeat via X, somehow you can see where the repeat begins... so I was wondering if there's a way to just stretch the image from left to right to force it to fit exactly to 98% of the window no matter how big the window is.
    Thanks...

    (RH10 for Webhelp)

    That's not entirely true. With CSS, you can stretch a background image to any dimension:
    background-size: 10px 100%;
    Also see: CSS3 background-size property
    Kind regards,

  • I just purchased the SX60 and have been trying to find the way to change the "startup image".

    I just purchased the SX60 and have been trying to find the way to change the "startup image". I have the SX40, Sx30 SX1 and all allow me to change the startup image and the sounds through MyCamera. When I opened MyCamera, it tells me that it won't work on my model. Does anyone know how to change the startup image? In the menu it gives me the choice to either have it on or off. Thanks so much!

    Looks like Canon has changed what they ship with the newer cameras. My SX50 came with a disc & no paper manual. Because of that I searched the Canon site (USA site) & found the program set you need to download (according to what it says). Now there are different versions based on your operating system so for my search I've chosen Win 8.0 & the program file recommended is
    File Description   Date Size
    Digital Camera Software 4.3 [Windows]
    09/16/14
    22.26 MB
    File Name: dcsw-4-3-0-2-9l.zi

  • Is there a way to quick import single image while not leaving current import/collection?

    I often am working on large import from photo shoot in previous hours or day and don't want to leave the import or collection to edit anything else, when sure enough, I am asked to handle an emergency edit or tune up of a single or small number of images that would only take a few minutes.  I don't want to do this and then have to reload my current large import/collection as I am totally focused on it and it would interrupt my workflow, etc.  I am missing something or is there no way to load a quick image for touch up without having to leave your current large project?  If there is thanks for pointing out, if there is not, could we have a "quick edit" or "spot import" where the single image could be worked on  via an "open file" or "quick single image import" from file menu that once completed and exported would leave us right where we left off in our large import editing job?  thanks!

    If you are using AlbumArt widget you can do this with the widget interface.

  • What is the Proper Way to place a Background Image inside a Div?

    I have been searching Google and the Adobe forums for awhile now, and while there are very valid solutions to similar problems I found that none of them fixed the problem that I am facing. I blame myself and getting lost in this sloppy coding of mine, so part of my plan was to start my style sheet over from scratch.
    My question, what is the proper way to add a background image into a div? I currently have the top div following the "header" css style, here is what I have typed into that sections:
    <style type="text/css">
    @import url("../twoColLiqLtHdr.css");
    .header {
        width: 1000px;
        height: 300px;
        background-image: url(Assets/HeaderTemplate.png);
        background-repeat: no-repeat;
        background-position: center;
    The problem here is that the background image isn't even appearing. I would greatly appreciate any help, could anyone inform me on the proper way to doing this so that I can implement images in divs in the future without turning my coding in a down right mess?
    Thank you in advance.

    I apologize, I'm unable to post a link to the page just yet. This is a snip of coding for a website still in the making for the company I work for.
    Would any of the coding below help?:
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body {
        background-color: #760101;
    a:link {

    </style>
    <link href="../twoColLiqLtHdr.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

    </body>
    </html>
    That above is parts I added into the source code.

  • Is there any way that I can sort images by resolution?

    Hello
    Have you guys found out any way or apps can sort images by resolution?
    I've tried Path Finder and Forklift, neither of them can do it .
    For now, I'm doing this with winxp on a PD5...

    You can do this in Finder. If you cntrl+click on the saved search query folder for images you can add resolution (width and/or height). All Images> Show Search Criteria>click on the "+" sign click on the drop down list on the far left select other if you check the box to the right (In Menu) that criteria will show up in the list. I use 4 resolution criteria to eliminate small files when do a "random" search (greater than but less than). You can also save a new "smart folder" with the criteria.
