Ways to impove performance in Reader X?

Howdy, peeps.  I'm running ARX on a somewhat archaic PC.  My specs are: Pentium D CPU 3.00 Ghz with 3Gb ram, running Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3).  I use Adobe Reader (as opposed to Acrobat) to participate in shared reviews on PDFs that are hosted on a local network.  These documents will have 4 or 5 active reviewers at any given time and are 100+ pages.
I upgraded to Reader X a couple months ago and I'm finding it to be ridiculously slow and unwieldy, whereas the previous version worked just fine. Scrolling through the comments bar is not very responsive (click, wait a few seconds, click, wait a few seconds), new comments take longer to load, and I get the Not Responding warning way to often. Pretty much anything I do brings up that hourglass pointer.
You know right away that my system is kinda old, but being that it's a company computer, my options for upgrades are pretty limited. So, apart from rolling back the upgrade to Acrobat Reader 9, is there anything I can do about getting it to work better?  It's not an issue of multitasking either, as the only other applications I'm running are Firefox and Outlook

    Hi,
    I met this issue when I tried to write vaule to massive fields of excel range.
    And I solve this issue by using CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>CLIPBOARD_EXPORT.
    So, I think you may fix it in the same way.
    1. Select range in by the I_OI_SPREADSHEET
    2. Call method I_OI_DOCUMENT_PROXY->COPY_SELECTION
    3. Call method CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>CLIPBOARD_IMPORT

    I have adobe Premiere Elements 13. It will not let me delete audio or have it fade in or out. I can move the yellow line all the way down till the volume reads -0.0, but the sound is still there on playback. I can click on fade in and fade out and the yellow line that graphs volume takes a sharp raise or dip at the beginning or end of the clip, but there is no change in volume when I play back. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the reply. Great news about the volume adjusts.
    Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
    1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
    see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
    2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
    Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.
    Thank you.

  • What are the best ways (for best performance) in MII to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?

    Hi All,
    Can you please suggest to choose the best ways (for best performance) in MII (12.2 on NW 7.3), to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?
    Thanks

    Hi Surya,
    Best practices for flow of data from ECC --> SAP MII --> Shop floor & Vice verse:
    1. Send ECC data through IDOC's/RFC's as messages to SAP MII message listener and BSL transaction process data and update directly on shop floor database as if you configured in Data services or later send those data by web service to shop floor system (i.e. depends on Shop floor machines).
    From Shop floor:
    shop floor --> SAP MII --> ECC
    1. Use either Web service or fetch data from DB and pass data to BAPI's  for sending to ECC through BLS transaction.

  • Mail to RFC is there way to make mail to READ only when data sent to RFC

    Hi friends ,
                        My scenario is Mail to RFC  .  I am reading mails marking as read and sent to  RFC .
                       Due to this , If   for eg 400 mails comes , xi is reading all mails correctly but sometimes  inbound queue getting stuck so , unable to send data to RFC .
               Because of that  many mails which read cannot able to send data  , everything stuck in InBound Queue.
                 Can any body explain how to resolve this issue ?

    Even we did this scenario for one of our clients,but in our case mails were getting deleted by itself once processed.And those that did not get processed due to some reason remained in the mail box.

    You can download Adobe Reader from the App Store:

    Personally, I prefer PDF Expert or GoodReader, though.

    Your Comcast accounts are POP (unless you enrolled in the Comcat Beta test of Imap) so they won't sync at all. Either enroll in the Beta test or don't use Comcast.
    Your iCloud account is Imap and should sync just fine, unless you have set it up incorrectly.

  • Database adapter for performing sync read of N records at a time

    Would anyone have an example and/or documentation related to performing a select operation in a database adapter where the adapter can fetch N number of records at a time? The database adapter would not be an activation agent/point polling for changes to any records, but invoked in the middle of the process. I searched for this in the samples folder and online but found nothing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Best way to test performance?

    As there is no pure java cycle test method, I constructed a simple class to test the basic performance boost of using a StringBuffer over a standard String object.
    Is the following code sample the best solution to detecting performance? Are there any obvious errors within my code? Am i forgetting anything?
    Thanks

    private long sStartTime, sEndTime, sbStartTime, sbEndTime;
    final static int ITERATIONS = Integer.MAX_VALUE/2;
    public static void main (String[] args) {

    I have now created the following extra code:
    ...But I'm sure I've gone the wrong way around to solve the problem - am I really testing the speed of the substring() and deleteAtChar() or are they made unreliable by the way I am reassigning the text string?
    e.g: tmpString = TEXTBLOCK; tmpBufString.append(TEXTBLOCK);
    Is there a better way to test this (I'm sure there is). :) One solution could be to create an very long String / StringBuffer initially and then remove the outer loop all together?
    Currently, results have shown the String.subString() to be 1.6 times faster.

  • BPS Performance when reading a hierarchy

    Hi,
    We have created planning levels with a selection on a cost center hierarchy node (included in a variable). Under this level, planning layouts use the characteristic cost center as a lead column.
    When we execute one of these layouts (in the Gui with an Excel interface or an ALV interface) the layouts takes at least 3 minutes to open even if it only includes about 1000 records.
    Is there any way to improve this performance ?
    If we create an exit variable which reads the hierarchy and list the cost centers, the performance is not improved.
    The cost center hierarchy read is about 15,000 cost centers in total, but only a few hundreds are included in the nodes we select.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello David,
    BPS has to resolve the hierarchy nodes into single values. For big hierarchies this can take quite a while (especially if the base characteristic is compounded as in this case).
    Try to build an alternative hierarchy that contains only the nodes you need in BPS.
    Also - as in any case - do a performance analysis. Where are the 3 minutes really being spent? BW data selection, BPS layout, variables, etc. Please check the BPS Performance Guide for mode information. SAP Service Marketplace > Quicklink BW > SAP BW BPS > Performance.

  • Is there is abetter performance to read from file than my code for longfile

    Hi
    This is my code to read from file and show it in a text area ,but for long file it wait for along time to show the file ,Is there is better performance code?
    chooser=new JFileChooser();
                        chooser.showOpenDialog(sav);
                        File fe=new File(chooser.getSelectedFile().getAbsolutePath());
                        //out = new PrintWriter(new FileOutputStream(f));
                         in2 = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fe));
                         str=in2.readLine();
                         if(str!=null)
                             nn2=str;
                         str=in2.readLine();
                        try{
                         while((str)!=null)
                         { nn2=nn2+"\n"+str;
                             str=in2.readLine();
                         }}catch(NullPointerException e){}
                         jta2.setText(nn2);
                          in2.close();
                       // in2 = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fe));
                    } catch (IOException ex) {
              }catch(NullPointerException e){}
                  nn1=str;

    Yes you code would be slow because you are continually creating new string by concatenating one string to another.
    The easiest way is to simply use the read(...) method of the text area.

  • MIO 6601 Counter, Perform Buffered Read and Simple Read

    I have an application written in C++ where I would like to use the 6601 as the time base for all of the boards, so I would like to be able to query the current value of the counter. I also have a external signal that I want time tagged in the buffer. I have used example programs for the Simple Read and the Buffered read and they both work successfully individually.
    If I try and combine them by setting up the counter with the following statement:
    iStatus = GPCTR_Set_Application(iDevice, ND_COUNTER_3, ND_BUFFERED_EVENT_CNT);
    and try to read the current value of the counter with:
    iStatus = GPCTR_Watch (iDevice, ND_COUNTER_3, ND_COUNT, puiCurrentTime);
    I always return a 0 for puiCurrentTime.
    Can
    I do both with a single counter? If not can I synchronize two counters one setup for the buffered read the other for the simple read.
    Thanks

    The second NIDAQ function call (GPCTR_Watch) will not work with Buffered Acquisition, because it is designed for simple read only. That might be the reason why puiCurrentTime always returns a zero.
    Regarding the second issue, you can do both tasks with a single counter, by configuring it as buffered first, and completing the operation, and then configuring it as single, and completing also the operation. Nevertheless, there is no way to configure it as buffered and work with it as single reader, or viceversa. You must use two for performing an operation such as that. Thus, if you want to synchronize both of them, I would suggest you to read the following document which talks about it.
    Well, I hope all of this info is helpful for you.
