WBS elements in Investment profiles

Hi Experts,
Is there any way we can check that to which all WBS element an investment profile is attached?
Regards,
Vijay

Hi Vijay,
If an inv. profile (or other customizing settings) is used somewhere, it must not be deleted in the customizing table, otherwise it cause database inconsistency.
To forbid the user to maintain this field at wbs, you can use the
customizing item
'Define Field Selection for Work Breakdown Structures'  to hide\disable the filed. in the following path: Project System -> Structures -> Operative Structures -> Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) -> User Interface Settings.
Please reward points, if it is helpful.
Kind regards,
Zhenbo

  • WBS Element vs investment order

    Good Day,
Please can someone explain the following..................
I have CO objects a WBS element and an investment order and I have posted budgeted values to these CO Objects.  I have posted actual values to these Co object via the MM and FI-AA module.
When I display the budgeted values for the WBS Element and the invesment order for the fields BPJA-WTJHR the vaules are positive.  Once the actual values are posted to the WBS Element and investment order the values are displayed differently on the table COSP-(WTG001-WTG016).
For the WBS Element the values are dispalyed as negative on table COSP -(WTG001-WTG016) and for the investment order the values are displayed as postive but both values for the different CO objects are expenditure which has occured via the MM and FI-AA modules  Therefore can someone please explain to me why these values are displayed differently yet the budgeted values are displayed the same.
Your soonest response would be appreciated.

    Hi
please gop through this notes it may be help full for you...............
    Planning and Budgeting Measures
    Use
Using this function, you can plan and budget investment measures, even if they are not already assigned to an investment program.
    Integration
All of the planning and budgeting functions of orders or projects are at your disposal for the corresponding measures. For more information, see the documentation for the R/3 components,  Internal Orders (CO-OM-OPA) and  Project System (PS) .
Orders or WBS elements that are assigned to investment programs cannot receive their overall budget by means of the budgeting functions in CO and PS, when the Budget distribution indicator is set in the program position to which they are assigned. Instead, they are limited to receiving their overall budget only by means of the budgeting functions in Investment Management.
    Prerequisites
Certain restrictions apply when an investment program type is entered in the budget profile of an order or WBS element. When this is the case, the order or WBS element cannot receive overall budget unless you assign it (or a higher-level WBS element ) to an investment program position. Until you make this assignment to a program position, the fields for the overall budget and/or annual budget for orders or WBS elements are not ready for input and cannot be changed.
    Activities
To plan or budget orders, choose Internal orders ® Planning ® Overall values ® Change or Budget ® Original budget ® Change.
To plan or budget WBS elements, choose Investment projects ® Planning ® Total costs ® Change or Budgeting ® Original budget ® Change.

  • How to change Investment program position assignd to a wbs element

The Investment position and year can be showed in cj02 transaction for a particular wbs element.

    Hi,
You can use BAPI_PROJECTDEF_GETDETAIL to get relevant details. If that does not serve, you can go through the list available on this link ---

  • Making Settlement rule mandatory for creating any WBS element

    Hello All,
We have an requirement that system should not allow us to save any WBS element until the settlement rule is maintained.
This we want only for WBS elements where Investment rule is not assigned.
Can alyone help me to find out if this is possible, if yes then how.
    Points Assured.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jatinder Bansal

    Hi,
The only way it seems possible is using exists in validations.
if not try to check the status of the wbs element in a validation. function module is STATUS_CHECK. and i think the system might set a special status, if a settlement rule has been maintained for a wbs element.

  • Standard WBS Elements v Operative WBS elements as templates

    Hi
I am considering the use of Standard WBS elements however one of the limitations that I have identified is that it is not possible to enter the any default settlement parameters into the WBS elements.
As our Work Breakdown structures are a combination of both operative as well as capital WBS elements (for accounting purposes) it is not possible to enter the default Settlement Profile in the project profile.  ie: Mulitple settlement profiles are used across the WBS elements for a single project profile, depending on the required accounting treatment.
Ensuring that users enter the correct settlement paramters for each WBS element cannot be gaurenteed and it does not appear possible to use sustitutions to populate these parameters.  Month end settlement is often problematic and the correct accounting treatment is essential so I am looking for alternatives.
One alternative that comes to mind is to set aside a range of operative WBS elements for use as templates.  This would then ensure that all required fields in the operative structures are pre - populated including the settlement parameters.
Has anyone used operative structures in this way and if so are there any potential issues?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ian

    Hi Hermant,
Thanks for your ongoing input.  I am still not sure my original message was clear.
The key point is that I am talking about using a range of operative structures as templates.  "lets just say the first 200 operative structures will be designated as templates."  These operative structures to be used as templates, contain different settlement parameters for each WBS element.
In your first post you mentioned.
"2. But this will not solve your purpose as copied projects will not have the settlement profile "as it is" in the std. operative WBS elements. Settlement profile gets defaulted from project profile... hence you will have to mainatin it manually again in the copied projects."
    and in your second post.
"That is what I mentioned in my earlier post... although you maintain different settlement parametes in project which is to be copied.. it won't be inherited in new project. You will have to maintain it manually..."
This is not the case, you actually do not need to maintain these settlement parameters manually when you copy an operative structure. (used as a template)  This is exactly why I am considering using operative structures and NOT standard structures as templates.  I agree, when using standard structures no settlement paramaters are inherited.
As I mentioned in my first post the Project Profile will not contain a settlement profile.  Hence when the operative structure with pre populated settlement parameters is used as a "template" and copied to create a new operative structure all settlement parameters are copied / inherited to the new operative structure.  This is the result based on my prototype.  Try this, copy an operative structure that has pre populated settlement parameters and you will see that all these settlement parameters are copied.....at least in my system that is the way it works.
I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding.

  • Hide the Investment profile in WBS - Control Tab

    Hi,
Our project has four level of WBS elements. The fourth wbs element  would have investment profile attached to it and would be relevant for AuC and settlement.
I request you experts to suggest how should I grey out the Investment Profile in WBS Control Tab, so that no one would by mistake enter a Investment profile, in only top 3 wbs elements.
    Thank you
    KAP

T Code OPUK- Field selection for WBS elements.
Double click on the field Investment profile (PRPS-IMPRF), position the cursor on level field and click on new value button. Mention the level 1,2 and 3 and select the radio button 'Invis' (Invisible). Save.
With this Investment profile field will not be displayed at level 1-3 but would be visible at level 4.

  • WBS element in Asset master & investment order

    hi,
till now we are using the capital investment order for capitalising assets, but now the client is asking for settling wbs element on to auc, can we have both WBS elment and investment order for a single asset. does any one have img document for wbs element related config.

    Hi Sai,
I think I can answer part of your question.  If a posting is being made to wbs element and internal order (both are real).  The real posting goes to wbs element and statistical posting goes to internal order.
In this case, you will be settling the wbs element to the AUC rather than Internal Order.
Coming to the configuration, most of the configuration settings are same on Internal Orders / WBS elements.
I am sorry, I do not have any documentation.

  • Reason for Environmental investment in wbs element

    Hello Gurus,
Anybody knows what is the functionality of the field "Reason for environmental investment" in the wbs element?
We know that this field can be used for report in assets, but what about wbs element? this field can be transferred automatically from wbs element to its asset master data?
thank you very much in advance.

    Hi,
In standard SAP report like S_ALR_87011963 OR ANY REPORTS , select the sort variant as 0008 - Co. code / reason for investment. In the report the field can be selected and included in the layout.

  • How to Change WBS Element Status Profile

    Dear PS Experts,
Once Status profile is set for WBS element, system is not allowing to change the same.
What should I do to change the status profile?
Moreover I will like to know the Table details in which Status profile details are kept for a WBS Element.
    Thanking you all.

    Hi,
You can change the status profile on 'Control' tab of Project Definition. But this change will be effective for new WBS elements. I dont think you can change status profile for existing WBS. You will have to delete and re-create them.
Status proflie for WBS is stored in JSTO table. Get OBJNR for WBS from PRPS table and insert in JSTO table to get status profile.

  • Validating department in WBS element code with dept in Investment program

    Hello Guru's,
While assigning Investment program, in WBS  in CJ20N or CJ11, in our current business process we need to to validate the Department code in both WBS code and Investment program code.
At present we have planned to used same department code in WBS Code and Investment program code.
Need to to do this enhancement for our current project.
Please suggest the way to do it.
    Regards,
    Amlan

    Hi,
I assume this "Department Code" is one of your customer specific field that is made available both in WBS as well as the iM program. If that is the case then either you can use any of the user exits for the WBS Elements to write your code or create a validation for the WBS and put your code in one of those exits invalidation.

  • Error while creating WBS element.. regarding source structure

I am creating a project and then a WBS element. Its a investment project. While creating WBS element XXX, it gives me error that "WBS element XXX: SOurce assignments for source structure A1 missing in Investment Profile ZZZZZ."
What shall I check? what could be the reason?
    Thanks,
    A

    hi,
In this IMG activity, you define the source structures used when settling and costing joint products.
A source structure contains several source assignments, each of which contains the individual cost elements or cost element intervals to be settled using the same distribution rules

  • Settling the WBS element costs to an AuC

Please Explain the procedure for settling the WBS element costs to an AuC & then to asset?

    Hi,
Please follow the below sequence of steps for this:
    1) For WBS element where the asset has to be created, AUC willbe created automatically when the WBS element is in release status to get this investment profile should be assigned to WBS element in Control Tab
    2) You can see in the system status show as AUC to see the AUC number follow the path
EDIT-> WBS element -> Investment program--> Asset under Construction where you can see the AUC which is created automatically
    3) Once the above two steps are through, for settlement to AuC goto transaction CJ88 give the WBS element number select the processing type as partial captalization and execute all the costs pertaining to that. WBS elements will be automatically settled to the AUC which is created for that WBS element
