WCCP and Sup720

Is WCCP supported on Sup720 currently ? If not, when will it be supported ?

Release 12.2(18)SXD1 and later support WCCP on Supervisor Engine 720.

I am new to WCCP and I am having trouble getting the Sophos Web Appliance to Connect to a 6509e port channel. The Web app is on a VM host and the host is connected to the 6509 by two interfaces on a port channel.

  • WAAS wccp and OTV on ASR1002

Hi, There is any conflict between OTV on ASR1002 and wccp on Wave-694 configured in the same scenario?
My scenario is 3 sites with ASR1002 for OTV cloud, a wave-694 at each site configured for wccp, and a 6807 in VSS mode as CORE-LAN. I wan to know if theres any conflict between wccp and OTV,
    Attached is the logical map

    Hi,
In order for the packet to be picked up by WCCP ... you'll need to have the packet Layer-3 routed (i.e. from one subnet to another).
But one of the reasons for using OTV - is that you want to stretch the Layer-2 subnet between several locations ("bridging" across a Layer-3 network).
So you'll never reach a layer 3 interface (SVI or routed) when communicating within the same VLAN/subnet.
As I see your installation you only have one option (although with two flavours) here - that is to use some kind of "bridging" interception between the ASR and the 6800-VSS.
Don't know whether this interface is 1Gigabit or 10Gigabit, but you could look into :
    1) using an "ordinary" Inline adapter on the WAVE-694 (this only works with 1Gigabit connection)
    2) using some kind of APPNAV interception where the adapter intercepts the bridged packet - this supports 10Gigabit connection, but you'll have NO failover, if the APPNAV device (which can be the WAVE-694 with a special module) of the APPNAV modules fails.
    Check this : www.cisco.com/go/appnav

  • Interworking between WCCP and IOS firewall on ISR and ASR routers?

I ran into a problem last year when running WAAS WCCP and IOS firewall IP inspection on the same 3945 router. They couldn't function at the same time. Cisco indicated that router IOS firewall and WCCP were compatible only when IOS zone-based policy configuration was used. Back then I was using IOS 15.1(1)T1 on the 3945 router and WAAS was version 4.2.3.
I now have some sites with 2921, 3945, and ASR1002 routers that need to be both IOS firewall and WCCP for WAAS. Now with newer IOS releases, does the IOS firewall estill have to be zone-based policy configuration? Because classic classic IOS firewall is easier to configure for WAAS, just "ip inspection waas enable" command, I'd prefer the easier configuration.
What about ASR1002 router IOS firewall with WCCP? I have never implemented that before. I was trying to find some deployment examples or configuration guides from Cisco, but was not able to.
    Thanks for any help.
    Gary

I'm assuming you placed service group 61 and 62 on the router LAN, WAN inbound directions. Did you apply inspection to LAN to WAN direction or WAN to LAN direction?
Did you also used WCCP and IOS firewall on ASR routers?
    Thanks a lot

    Ilir,
How is this second group of users connected to the ASA?  Their outbound traffic has to be going out the "inside" interface also. If they are on another port on the ASA, WCCP won't catch their traffic. i.e. You can't use the DMZ interface on an ASA and point its web traffic at a WSA that lives inside.

  • Question on WCCP and ASA/VPN

Hello i have this simple scenario.
    -ASA as an EZVPN server.
-WSA in my local lan (inside interface)
-remote vpn users connecting to the ASA.
When a user connects via VPN to my ASA, and i want to do some web filtering to them using the WSA... How would i accomplish it if i dont want to use explicit proxy?
Can i use WCCP on the outside interface of the ASA and redirect web traffic to the WSA which is across my inside ASA interface?
Need to know if WCCP redirection from one ASA interface to another is supported.
    Thanks in advanced!

  • Internet Explorer Incompatabilities with WCCP and CE

I have several users running Win2k and IE6 SP1 that are having problems with search engines and sites that require logins.
When they enter information into a search entry and click Search or Go, the page flickers (like it is refreshing) and does not present them any search results.
Other instances are when people try to log into subscription sites. They enter their credentials either to receive nothing or an error on the page.
When their local browser is configured to use the CE as a Proxy server, they do not have any of these problems. This leads me to believe the issue is with the WCCP interface and the CE's.
WCCP is running on the 6513.
    Thanks

    Joerg,
    Thanks for the reply.
Working on the traces now. Traces get complicated because the problem is not consistant and cannot be replicated on all computers. I'm also running several hundred people through the CE. It also seems like there is a new site each week.

  • WCCP and WAN optimisation via Layer 3 connection

    Hi There,
I need some help with WCCP, however with Riverbeds instead of WAAS.
The topology of the set up is as follows:
    WAN - R1 - LAN - L3 Switch - Riverbed
The clients reside on the WAN side and the servers reside on the LAN side.
My business wishes to enable WCCP on two separate WAN routers to the single Riverbed. One router is fuly managed service, and the other rout the is managed by the business IT team.
All the articles that I have come across talk about enabling WCCP on the router whereby the WAN optimisation appliance is directly connected to a interface router. I need to configure WCCP to a Riverbed that is connected to a subnet that is a single hop away via a Layer 3 switch.
My plan is to enable WCCP in the inbound directions on both the LAN and WAN interfaces, however my concern is that this design will mean the traffic passing through the LAN side interface will be optimised twice.
Can any one confirm if this would happen? If it could happen can it potentially be stopped by placing a "ip wccp redirect exclude out" command on the LAN interface.
Thanks is advance for your help.

    Hi Andreas,
"ip wccp redirect exclude out" only makes sense if you have a "ip wccp redirect out"
on a L3 interface on the router.
It's purpose is to avoid redirecting an already optimised packet, comming from a L3-interface where the WAAS/Riverbed device is connected, once more.
A double redirect will, in a WAAS setup, cause the WAAS device to drop the packet, because
it suspects a routing loop... don't know what Riverbed does.
Running only with "ip wccp redirect in" on both the WAN and LAN interface will cause :
    1) a packet comming in from the LAN, is supposed to be unoptimised, and will be redirected
    2) a packet comming in from the WAN, is supposed to be optimised, and will also redirected
    3) an IP-interface with only the WAAS/Riverbed connected should NEVER be redirected !
If you cannot isolate your WAAr/Riverbed in it's own L3 subnet (subinterface/VLAN),
and therefore have to place it in the "ordinary" LAN subnet, packets from the WAAS/Riverbed will becomes candidates for redirection (even with "ip wccp redirect in"), you'll need to use "WCCP negotiated Return", but don't know whether Riverbed supports this,
Riverbed normally uses "tunnels" on the WAN side, and this makes the WCCP setup somewhat different.
You should really consult the Riverbed documentation or their support
... or migrate to Cisco WAAS ;-)
    Best regards

  • WCCP and 827

I have try to run a CE505 with an 827 adsl router but we don't have any command for enable and manage the WCCP in the 827 box.
We have try different release of IOS without success.
Anyone know if is possible to run in this configuration?
    Thank
    Eric Masserotti

Feature Navigator shows the 1700 series is the lowest series to support WCCP.

  • Ironport WCCP and PAC

Can I run a single Ironport in a proxy redirection for one site and a pac file for a different site?

I'm assuming by site you mean business sites? or offices?  If so, then yes.  Turning on transparent redirection (eg. WCCP) doesn't turn off the explicit proxy (eg via a PAC file).
Really you can break it down to IP if you like, based on how crazy you want to be with the WCCP ACLs.

  • WCCP and multi-hop

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a routed path (several Layer-3 hops) between a wccp router and a cache engine ? As far as I remember, a GRE tunnel is established between the router and the cache, right ?
    Thank you
    Yves

    Yves,
Yes, when you use GRE, you can be serveral L3 hops away, however, increasing latency will reduce performance. You also want to prevent accidental re-interception of your egress traffic.
    Hope that helps,
    Dan

  • Enabling WCCP and traffic flowing, increased CPU 10% with one site only.

    Hello,
We are deploying a WAAS solution for a customer Datacenter and we are doing a pilot on WCCP redirection towards few 7341 WAAS boxes on the DC.
The redirecting platform is a couple of 7200's running 12.4(13) version - we are using WCCP GRE negotiated return and ingress with hash assignment.
for the moment we enabled one remote site  with an inline WAE and are optimizing traffic across that connection. All remote sites except this one are being filtered out by the WCCP redirect-list.
At this moment we are a bit concerned due to two things:
    - when traffic started being redirected on the 7200, (about 1,5 Mbps in/out for the pilot site= allowed traffic on redirected list), we saw a 10% CPU increase on the 7200. Having in mind that the redirecting list is denying a lot of traffic, I'm considering it to also add CPU% overhead to the processor usage.
The first question is - Does anybody have any experience on how can we expect the CPU to grow, while adding more sites? We can grow up to (theoretically) 1Gbps of traffic coming from remote sites.
The second question is - we have 4 x 7341 on the DC, but we are seeing quite uneven load distribution on them. We are using service 61 in on the LAN interface and service 62 in on WAN interface. From what I can gather the hashing across boxes is then made based on the LAN side IP address (that is the servers).
Would it be recommended to swap both services between interfaces (61 on WAN and 62 on LAN) so that the hashing is based on the WAN side IP address? what would be the downside of this?
I saw that from version 12.4(20)T on, software based platforms support L2 redirect and mask assignment. Would that be a recommended upgrade to make in order to easen up the CPU load on the 7200? Does anybody have any experience on WCCP with this particular config on 7200?
    Thanks for any input!

An alternative to using the "Lookup" functionality in Network Utility is to run "nslookup" from the command prompt (or the shell prompt) using Terminal. Both the Network Utility and Terminal are found in the Utilities folder under Application.
    While in Terminal, enter this:
    nslookup statcounter.com
It should return something like this:
Note: nslookup is deprecated and may be removed from future releases.
Consider using the `dig' or `host' programs instead. Run nslookup with
the `-sil[ent]' option to prevent this message from appearing.
    Server: 68.87.69.146
    Address: 68.87.69.146#53
    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: statcounter.com
    Address: 66.98.186.36
    Name: statcounter.com
    Address: 66.98.134.100
The first portion of the output indicates the IP address of your DNS. The second portion indicates the IP address of statcounter.com.
You can also run "dig statcounter" while in Terminal. This provides the same output as the "Lookup" functionality in Network Utility.
If you are not getting the IP address of statcounter.com from running the nslookup command, the most likely reason is your DNS (or your ISP's DNS) does not contain information about statcounter.com.
    Hope this helps.

  • WCCP and ISDN / Dialer

We have two routers running the same IOS version in our core - c7200-is-mz.123-10a.bin. One terminates a number of tunnels and the other has a number of dialer interfaces associated with an ISDN PRI. Each of our site routers has a tunnel going to the core (via an ADSL connection) and a backup ISDN interface with a dialer configured. When we are running on the primary links everything works fine. When we are running on the backup links (the ISDN) WCCP redirection seems to prevent clients from accessing services on TCP in the core (I can telnet to the core ISDN router from a PC on site, but can't access anything else). Ping always works fine - hence my suspicions about WCCP. If I disable WCCP on the core router with the ISDN links backup connections work fine.
    Our remote routers use c2800nm-advsecurityk9-mz.124-11.T4.bin.
My question is - is there any issue with WCCP redirection and dialer interfaces?
Below is the relevant config for the routers that don't work (addresses, names and numbers have been sanitized.
    corerouter#
    ip wccp 61
    ip wccp 62
    interface Dialer183
description Backup DoD for remote site
    bandwidth 64
    ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252
    ip wccp 61 redirect out
    ip wccp 62 redirect in
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 2
    dialer remote-name siterouter
    dialer idle-timeout 300
    dialer enable-timeout 60
    dialer wait-for-carrier-time 10
    dialer caller 222222
    dialer-group 1
    snmp ifindex persist
    ppp authentication chap
    End
    siterouter#sh run
    ip wccp 61
    ip wccp 62
    interface Dialer1
description Backup DoD to the core via ISDN
    bandwidth 64
    ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.252
    ip wccp 62 redirect in
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 2
    dialer remote-name corerouter
    dialer idle-timeout 300
    dialer enable-timeout 60
    dialer wait-for-carrier-time 10
    dialer string 111111
    dialer caller 222222
    dialer-group 2
    ppp authentication chap
    end

    Zach,
I've tried that as you suggested and it made no difference. I had seen a bug on the bugtracker about process switched packets possibly not being WCCP redirected correctly, so I have also tried ensuring that CEF was enabled, and removing compression in case that made the packets process switch.
I have also tried removing the multilink and ensuring that only one ISDN B channel is pulled up for that dialer interface. That made no difference.
I have verified that it is the router in the core that is causing the issue because I can have the remote site connect to the core via ISDN and have WAAS optimise traffic from that remote site to another remote site via the core (if I disable WCCP in the core).
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • How to configure wccp and what are the commands of wccp used in ver:5.3.3 on WAE model#7341

    Dear all,
Can any one suggest what are the commands required during configuration of wccp on a WAE device of model #7341 with version 5.3.3 of IOS .

    Mohammad,
Here you have a link for 5.3.1 but essentially it should still be valid:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/waas/v531/configuration/guide/cnfg/traffic.html#wp1041742
Depending on the router, you may consider what options to use.
