WCS 7.0 Campus problem

After installing the WCS upgrade to 7 to the wrong drive letter, I uninstalled it and reinstalled to the correct drive. I then restored the database backup and all looked ok. I noted that in the restore, I now had a System campus. Thought I would set up a campus for each division of my company. I started with Central and was able to add several offices. I next tried to create North and got the following error - Following Error occured Update Maps\n\n'COMMON-1::Some unexpected internal error has occured. If the problem persists please report to the Tech Support.\'\n\n.
I tried creating another campus with a different name and got the same error. I then moved all of the buildings back to the system campus and deleted the Central campus. I now cant create any campus.
Anyone else seen this ?

What do you mean about reinstalled/upgraded , do you mean réinstall a linux ??
Upgrade do you mean upgrade in last version ???

WCS 6.0 Upgrade Problem

I've downloaded WCS-STANDARD-K9-6.0.132.0.exe (205,164 KB). Each time I try to write this to a CD it errors out and the CD is not readable. Is anyobe else have similar problem? Is there a work around?

I am able to burn the CD. Perhaps use another software?
Or zip it up and try again?

WCS Busiest Client Report Problem

We are using Wism 4.0.155.5 and WCS 4.0.81.0. Everytime I run "busiest client report" on WCS, I get some clients with throughput more than 70Mbps and utilization more than 600%!!! It is very weird. Anyone see this as well? Thanks.

I see it too. It definitely appears to be a bug, but I will do some checking. Mine show upwards of 2000% and most of my top 25 show an almost identical tx/tx amount of 4gb.
If I make any headway with TAC, I'll let you know.

License WCS (Wireless Control System) Problem to install

Hello,
I'm Christopher, I have a need to update the WCS and license this, but when I perform the load operation, this throws me this message.
"You must have Base a license in order to install an upgrade license"
How I can fix it?

Base license should always be installed before you can upgrade license count.
For ex if you buy 2 AP's initially and got WCS license with them and installed then on WCS.
Now after few days you buy few more AP's and want to add them to WCS you won't be able to do so unless you have base license. So please contact license team to get base license(Only needs to be installed once not everytime.)

WCS Unique Client report problem

If I run a "Unique Client" report in WCS (based on 4 controllers) using the range "last 1 day", I get plenty of data. But if I choose a specific range of time, even within the last 24 hours, I don't get any data. Seems like a bug. Anyone else experience this issue?

Seems you are facing below bug and needs a patch uniqueclients.xml which can be provided by TAC.CSCtq64813
Apply the workaround which done by the following steps: 1. Stop WCS 2. cd to /webnms/classes/com/cisco/server/reports/conf 3. Backup UniqueClients.xml 4. Copy the attached file to UniqueClients.xml (batch file attached in the case) 5. Restart the server

ACS 5.2 WCS 7 TACACS+ CHAP probleme

I want to configure managment-access authentication to the WCS via tacacs+. The AAA Server is Cisco ACS 5.2.
I made it and it works, but only with PAP Authentication Type. Chap doesn't work 4 me.
The Access Service is configured with allowed protocols PAP and CHAP.
The ACS Monitor just display an error with these steps:
Received TACACS+ Authentication START Request
Evaluating Service Selection Policy
Matched rule
Selected Access Service - WCS und Controler Mgmt
TACACS+ authentication request ended with error
And by the way I added two ACS Servers and WCS just asks one, is it normal?

Problem to modify the field "location" in an AP on WCS

Hello everybody,
I have a problem to modify the field "location" in an access point on WCS.
In fact, when i try to modify this field and then apply the modification, i have this error message :
"Error(s): You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
Error:Global Username and Password are not configured on the associated controller. Please configure username and password on the associated controller before disabling 'Override Global Username Password'."
I made the modification on Chrome and Firefox but I always have the error message.
Nevertheless, i don't have this error message with other access points and other access points are configured without the option "Override Global Username Password".
I'm obliged to make the modification directly in the controller and not in WCS.
The problem is that i want to make the modification directly in WCS.
Could you help me please ?

The version of WCS is 7.0.230.0.
The version of the controller is 7.0.240.0 and the field recovery image version is 7.0.112.21.

Oddball WCS map issue !? help please

Hi,
have tried to create a perimeter on WCS map editor as a test to keep some of the assets from appearing way off the map. It made no real difference. Problem is to remove the perimeter I selected new perimeter (which erases last perimeter) and saved with no new perimeter hence going back to standard (or at least this was the only way i could see to do it)
Now, the maps are done within a "building" as 3 floors. Even though I only chose to edit the top floor when I try to find ANY ward level out I get:
[ServletException in:/pages/monitor/map/buildingView.jsp] Cannot find bean Floors in any scope'
Seems to be a java error?
So Now I cannot find any maps or Access Points on maps either L
Will stopping and starting the WCS database kick this process back into life?
I have already stopped and started jave.exe on the server to no success. I have tried locally browsingon the server to no success and various pc`s and get the same message.
I use a asset tracking piece of software from aeroscout that relies on the ap posistions from WCS and it is still working ? so in the background the information for maps and ap`s locations are still there, i would normally stop and start WCS but this may upset my aeroscout software.
any ideas ? I REALLY dont want to have to replace 350 AP`s on a map again it took days and i need to be running by next week.
my version is:
Wireless Control System Version 5.0.56.2

1. Stop WCS services
2. Make a backup of your DB
3. Start WCS services
See if problem has been fixed.
If the issue is still the same, upgrade to WCS 5.2 latest version, that should fix your problem.

MSE is unreachable on WCS until Java program is killed

I have a problem with my 2700 series Wireless Location Appliance. It works for about a week, then suddenly WCS shows the device as unreachable. If I kill the Java program and then perform a shutdown, it works for about a week before the same fault occurs.
Has anyone experienced this before?

Prime Infrastructure 2.0 email charset problem

Dear all,
I have question regarding Guest portal managed through PI. Everything is set, but only one thing doesn't work as I expected.
When I make an account and print it, everything looks fine. When I sent it via email, then enconding of mail is wrong.
Problem is, that PI gives Charset : ANSI_X3.4-1968 (can see in email header).
I would like to have ther (in email) : CP1252 (or UTF) - basically something what can interpret national characters.
I have found this about similar problem, but absolutely have no idea where set it up.

In old WCS, there was no problem with this.

I see now, this is a poor carry over from NCS. The option that says include "controller" in email does provide the switch hostname. Hopefully by version 3.0 they will have all the wireless naming fixed when it applies to converged.

WCS authentication in Microsoft Radius

We've been using the WCS for some years now and have chosen (more along the lines of not bothering to put in the hours required to change it) to use local authentication. However, I've finally grown tired of people asking me to reset their password after they have forgotten it. We are a group of 5 people who need access but only 3 who use the WCS regularly, thus the problem
Now we're trying to change to using RADIUS authentication. Our primary Radius-server is running 2k8 with NPS while our backup server is running 2k3 with IAS. The WCS is running at 6.0.181.0 though we're considering upgrading it.
My problem is that I'm unable to find any sort of documentation of how to configure our primary radius server. I found this http://mihai.radoveanu.ro/2010/11/configuring-the-radius-authentication-with-cisco-wireless-control-system-6-0-196-0/ for when using IAS and a WCS running 6.0.196.0. In NPS I couldn't find the cisco-av-pair attribute. We tried without this attribute and with fallback to local but ended up not being able to log in at all.
Would be really gratefull for some help! My main expertise is in networking so go easy on me, please!

I personally used a combination of netsh and excel to add the cisco av types needed.
However after logging successfully in through NPS RADIUS authentication i was only able to see the front page and was given permission denied errors on most if not all pages.. I tried adding all of the Admin pairs and then tested the SuperUser pairs..
According to the radius log files the correct network policy was being applied so the cisco av pairs must have been sent as well..
I gave up but here's how i did the netsh thing (profileid refers to the cisco av pairs, not a policy nor connection profile):

Simply a matter of copy pasting the exported task list from WCS to a text editor, replacing all "Wireless-WCS: with profiledata = "Wireless-WCS:

WCS WEP limitations

I am currently in the process of migrating our AP's to LWAPP and utilizing WCS. During the "migration" I noticed that a few of our client laptops are unable to connect to the AP's. After researching this I found out that our WEP keys for two seperate VLANs are identical. Additionally, they also both use key index=1.
At first I was configuring the WLANs on our WISMs and didn't see the error message, but when I went back through WCS I noticed the problem.
I also have a third WLAN with a unique WEP key, but it also uses key index=1 and after testing a few clients I receive the same error message and no clients are able to connect to the LWAPP AP's.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there a "painless" work around? Or, has anyone worked through a similar migration?

Well with the key index=1 on the WLC, you must verify that the key index on the client side is 1 also. If you leave the ssid open with no security, can you associate, get and IP and surf the net?

WCS 4.0 - Error: RMI FATAL ERROR. ERROR DETAIL: Connection Refused

Have observed the following software defect in WCS 4.0:
When clicking on a Mac Address link in a list of client MAC addresses, the following error is displayed: "Error: RMI FATAL ERROR. ERROR DETAIL: Connection Refused". The same error occurs when clicking on the MAC address URL within a list of rogue APs.
Is this a configuration issue or a software defect?
For reference, the WCS/WLC configuration is as follows:

Add wlc to the WCS

Hi experts,
I want to add a second wlc 4402 in branch office(4.1.171.0) to WCS (4.1.83.0) in Headquarter. During this operation I receive this messages from wcs:
"controllers unreachable, check smnp and network for issue". I try to ping from wcs to wlc (no problem), snmp community is correct (there is another controller that use this communiny without problem). There aren't firewall between wlc and wcs. Can you suggest something?

Are you using the ready-only community instead of the read-write community?
Are you able to do an snmpwalk from the WCS box?
(assuming linux with net-snmp-utils installed)
or something like getif on a windows box.
What about ACLs between the two devices?

Help with validating required fields

I have approximately 50 columns in a result set. I need to find out if the required fields (20 out of those 50 columns are required fields) have values (not empty field).
Since I'm dealing with a large result set (approximately 3000 to 5000 records), what is the most efficient thing to do to validate each field?
For example:
Column A, B,C,D.E.F, etc are required fields, I need to validate that each of these column has value otherwise I need to <CFABORT> the process and notify the user.

The data is not yet in our database,they are created in memory when the app. is run.
I have sort of Xml To Query function that generates a result set. I'm doing some validation on req. fields before they are inserted into our DB.
