WCS 7.0 Vendor mac-address list

We are doing a study on our public WiFi to identfy client connections based on wireless Vendor.  about 40-50% of the clients wireless Vendors are "unknown".  Is there a way to update the list of Vendor mac-addresses in WCS?
Regards
Chris Kaufman

I doubt there will be any further releases of WCS code, as it's been EOL.

You would need to work a migration to NCS at this point.

  • Exporting MAC address list between AP

    Hi
I'm trying to store a list of mac-address in my AP in order to export or import mac address from an AP to other.
I've been looking in the IOS AP commands a way to create a mac-address list but I haven't found anything
Is there any way to do it?
    thanks

One solution is creating a access-list with following mac address and copy to all the APs.

  • MAC address list growing

I have a linksys WRT400N.  The N network is WPA encrypted, the G network uses WEP.  I have populated the wireless MAC address list with the 8 wireless addresses for devices which I own. It should only allow these wireless addresses to connect.
Twice now I have gone back to the list and found three additional MAC addresses in the list which I did not place there.  I have saved the proper configuration, I restore it, and all is OK.
Network Magic has never shown any other device attached to my network.
Where are these additional MAC addresses coming from?
Everyone in my home is computer illiterate so I am sure they are not coming from here.  I have a password of course on the administration name.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Well I think I have found the enemy and it is myself.  The three MAC addresses are:
    00:11:43:71:40:d1
    00:50:8d:91:CF:F3
    00:50:80:d1:3b:26
The first is from Dell, the second two from ABIT and I have found them as the NIC addresses on two computers which I own.  I also have a Dell laptop so I suspect the first is coming from it though I haven't been able to find it's NIC address.
So I guess the only mystery is how these get populated into my wireless MAC address list. It looks like no harm, no foul.  I am not sure all my older devices are able to do WPA.  I will do some research.  Thanks again.

  • Format of WCS template file for mac-address filtering

I am looking for the format of the template file used for WCS Mac-address filtering.
I need to know how the fields are delimited within the file.

    Sample csv file :
    #MAC Address,Profile Name,Interface,Description
    22:22:22:22:22:22,profile8,management,cisco
    00:00:00:00:00:01,myprofile,int1,First filter
    00:00:00:00:00:02,,management,Second filter

  • Blocking of complete Vendor MAC Address

    Hi All,
is it possible to Block or Disable a complete Vendor MAC - like  Apple 7c:6d:62:x:x:x - with using Wildcards on a Wireless LAN Controller? Background is, that the Customers IT-Department is only allowing the use of one Vendor, so every MAC Address of another Vendor is rogue. If Blocking is not possible on WLC, can i do this on ACS?
    Thx in adv, Michael

    Hi
if you create a NAR entry on ACS, you can use callerID information (DNIS) which will have the mac address.
then on ACS, it will support wildcards for all or part of each of the attributes:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.0/user/guide/c.html#wp697209
so, it should be posible to be done on WLC, if you move the validation into ACS itself.

  • How to get MAC address list and HDD serial number from Windows and MAC machine?

    Hi,
I'm developing a AIR application. I'm implementing the product key mechanishm. I need to identify the users' machines uniquely. I chose MAC address would be a better way. But a computer has list of MAC addresses including LAN card and Wi-Fi card addresses. So, I need to get the list of available MAC addresses from the computer and the Hard Disk Drive's serial number. HDD serial number would be helpful to cross verify the identity.
I'm able to get the MAC address using NetworkInfo class. But I need to get a list of available MAC addresses and HDD serial number.
Is there any classess to accomplish this task?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Wrong mac address listed in verizon router for a device on my network

    Hi folks,
I'm having some routing issues and hope you can help.
I've got the standard  verizon actiontec MI424WR-GEN3I router for my standard LAN and then a 2nd router (linksys wrt54g) for a testing environment I set up, to help isolate the traffic.  I'm using the LAN to WAN strategy to set up the two networks.
everything seems to be working fine except for the fact that my devices behind the actiontec router cannot ping/access any devices behind the linksys router, but the devices behind the linksys router are able to ping and reach the devices behind the actiontec router.
my actiontec subnet is 192.168.1.X while my linksys subnet is 192.168.2.X.  I followed this tutorial on the verizon forum to hopefully get the two networks talking correctly: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/Multiple-routers-and-subnets-can-t-access-across-subnets/...
an issue I see in my actiontec router is that it appears as though the mac address is not correct for what I'd imagine is the WAN port on the linksys router.  the actiontec is showing the MAC as 00:13:10:73:72:6a while the sticker on the router itself and through the ARP command in the command prompt shows the MAC for the linksys router as 00:13:10:73:72:69.  I've power cycled both routers 2x and nothing has changed.  I currently have the ethernet cable that goes from my actiontec to the linksys unplugged so hopefully it'll drop from network list eventually and reaquire an address when it's hooked back up, hopefully correcting the wrong MAC address issue.
I'm a bit perplexed as to why I can get out to the internet just fine on my 192.168.2.X network with a botched MAC address, but I can't ping the network that's just a hop away...even after following the guide mentioned above.
    any ideas here?

You can release the address yourself.  It's a function under my network, network connections, broadband connection (whichever one is connected), configure connection
    dhcp lease Release
    Then recycle the router
After you set up the static route did the ping work? - ensure that you have icmp enabled on the linksys.  If you don't get a ping response it indicates an issue with the static route rule.

  • E4200 losing mac address list at random

    Hi,
I have a list of permitted mac addresses in my E4200.
On several occassions the list will lose some of the mac entries while retaining some.
    This is getting frustrating.
Any one experiencing this problem?  Any pointers on how to resolve the problem will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Forget about the wireless mac filter. It does not provide any security. Use WPA2 with AES and a strong passphrase.

  • Increase MAC Address List

hi, i have just installed a new wirless router wrt54gl. I want to configure the users should connect only using their mac only. but there is restrition to connect only 40 MAC Address. can any body help me to increase this list from 40 to more address.
    thanks in advnace.

Unless you install a 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt or hyperwrt+thibor. See the wikipedia article on "WRT54G" for a start. With 3rd party firmware you have more fields and you have full shell access to the Linux running on the router, i.e. you can actually as many entries you like (or fit in the memory).

  • HP MAC address list

Is there a list somewhere of which HP devices are assinged which parts of HPs 80:C1:6E:x:x:x range ?

    Hi,
MAC addresses are assigned to the network card by the manufacturer.  Since HP uses OEM cards supplied by different manufacturers, I don't believe that such a list exists. Each MAC is unique.
HP appears to be using this list.

  • RV220W mac address list

I apoligize for my incompetence but I have a problem I really need to solve and I am clueless ...
We have a wifi router RV220W and we need to filter the mac address. The problem is that the number of the "allowed" devices is around 50 (not all connected at the same time), but the maximum number of mac address which can be listed in this router for each VLAN is 20, so for the moment we set 3 VLAN, each one with a different mac adderss list. This is very awkward because the area to be covered by the wifi network is large and we need repeaters, but having 3 VLAN we should put 3 repeaters for each point. Is there any way to configure this router in order to have a single VLAN but with a mac address filter list of 3 x 20 mac address?
    thank you

    Good morning
Hi Michela thank you for using our forum,, my name is Johnnatan I am part of the Small business Support community.
Don't worry about it, we are here to help you, I read your case and you are right, your device support just 20 rules, as you know you can deny everything and just allow specific devices or allow everything and deny specific devices (you can try doing it the other way), however if you want to extend this list, maybe you are thinking in an enterprise device. I apologize for the inconvenience.
I hope you find this answer useful,

  • MAC Address List

    Just a quick question reaally,
What is the maximum number of Mac addresses the 1130AG can hold?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi John,
    Are you referring to Mac Filters? If so;
Configuring and Enabling MAC Address Filters
MAC address filters allow or disallow the forwarding of unicast and multicast packets either sent from or addressed to specific MAC addresses. You can create a filter that passes traffic to all MAC addresses except those you specify, or you can create a filter that blocks traffic to all MAC addresses except those you specify. You can apply the filters you create to either or both the Ethernet and radio ports and to either or both incoming and outgoing packets.
Note: Using the CLI, you can configure up to 2,048 MAC addresses for filtering. Using the web-browser interface, however, you can configure only up to 43 MAC addresses for filtering.
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_2_JA/configuration/guide/s32filt.html#wp1034897
    Hope this helps!

  • RV325 DHCP static address list and duplicates in unknown IP & MAC Binding List Table

DHCP Manual Bindings are entered and are displayed correctly in the IP & MAC Binding Table.
The error is that there are duplications of the IP address in the Unknown MAC Address List and hitting the Refresh button does nothing.
These duplicates remain in the Unknown table forever. Only a reboot of the router really refreshes the Unknown table.
    Any suggestion?

    The problem has been solved.
All the settings are apparently stored in the open directory database.  I had to enable system records and viola there was the extra entry complete with MAC address and IP address.

  • [Windows] list MAC addresses of ethernet-connected devices to AEBS?

I have an ethernet connected device (among others) that is running headless, so I need to create a static IP ("DHCP Reservation") based on the MAC address to SSH into the device.
This device is connected to my AEBS with an ethernet cable, and I cannot figure out where in the Airport Utility app lists MAC addresses connected by ethernet. This is very easy if it were a wirelessly connected device but it appears the Airport Utility -> Advanced -> Logging and Statistics tab -> "Logs and Statistics" only holds information of wirelessly connected devices.
I am connecting to my AEBS with the most updated Airport Utility for Windows v5.6.1
So, where do you find the MAC addresses listed of ethernet-connected devices using Windows Airport Utility?

but it appears the Airport Utility -> Advanced -> Logging and Statistics tab -> "Logs and Statistics" only holds information of wirelessly connected devices.
That would be true if the AEBS is configured in Bridge Mode.  In this case, another device....you likely call this your modem....is providing DHCP information to all connected devices. That is the device where you need to locate MAC Addresses and set up Static IP addresses.....not the AEBS.
If your AirPort Extreme is in charge of providing DHCP services, then the window in Airport Utility will have a DHCP tab, which will display all of this information for both wired and wireless devices.  If you don't see a DHCP tab....this is yet another confirmation that the AEBS is in Bridge Mode.
