  • WCS and Guest IP addresses

    Hi,
I have both corporate and guest WLANs available, the corporate infrastructure is 2 x WiSM modules with guest access via a 4402 anchort point controller.  When I view client connections in WCS, I see the DHCP address all corporate users have been allocated, but all guest users show up with IP address 0.0.0.0.  The guest users are allocated a DHCP address via a local pool defined on the anchor point controller.
Is there any way I can see the IP address of each guest user?
    Many thanks
    Liam

    Hi,
Clients get DHCP adderss no problem from local pool configured on anchor point controller.  The issue I am facing is that this IP information is not tunnelled through to WiSM module - if I check client details on anchor controller, it shows the IP address allocated to each user.  When I check same info on WiSM controller, it shows every IP address for guest access user as 0.0.0.0.
For reporting and troubleshooting purposes I am wondering if the correct IP information can be shown.
    Regards
    Liam

  • WCS Wireless Guest Access : Area, building restrictions don't work

    Hello,
I use WCS to create guest accounts on a WLC4400 local database. Guest login works fine but i can login with any guest account on any campus, building, floor even if the account is apply only on one of those.
i use a custome Web auth page, this is the cisco's exemple page with our logo.
    WLC44000 - 4.2.61.0
    WCS - 4.262.11
    WLAN Guest setup :
    Layer 3 security : none
    Web policy : authentication
    Over-ride global - config enable

    Yes exacly.
Only one controller with 15 "campus" (business unit).
AP are in HREAP (for corporate WLAN). of course (i know it's stupid) guest wlan is in a lwapp tunnel and wrong username or password don't works !

  • WCS expiring guest accounts early

Hi Folks, We've had a number of reports from our Service Desk (who create the guest accounts for us) that they've been getting users who have long-term accounts (90days) expire early.
I've taken a look at the settings and sure enough, today there are accounts on WCS that are showing as expired but have a long life time.
    Example:
User(x) created on 13th July with an expiry of the 15th Sept
User(y) created on 12th July with an expiry of the 12th Oct
This is only a couple listed here but the problem seems to be widespread accross long-life accounts. I've checked the clocks and they're all synced between WCS and the WLC's, when accounts are created they are done through WCS and pushed down to the single mobility anchor (our topology is 6 WLC's split over 2 sites, with a 7th WLC for MA with a toe in the internet DMZ)
We're running 7.0.172.0 of WCS and 7.0.116.0 on all the WLC's I think the problem has started to occur as it's really only now that we're using longer life-time accounts in anger.
Originally the accounts were being deleted by the cleaner process, so it just looked like the accounts were disappearing - we've stopped this and now it just shows that they expire.
Any suggestions that you can give as to why this might be occuring would be great!  Unfortunaly we can't create 'unlimited' accounts as our policy is that they should have a lifetime of no more than 3 months, so the overhead on monitoring would be too big - so there has to be an automated process.
    Thanks in advance!
    Kev

I upgraded to WLC 7.0.235.0 and WCS 7.0.230.0 and am still getting users complaining about their accounts expiring early.  Someone please correct me if I have misread something but the WCS is suppose to check the account every so often and re-provision the account based on the expire date set?  We setup our users with 90day accounts that is pushed to two 5508 controllers running the code above, the process works well but the expiration of accounts has become a issue.  Anyone know if the bug was truly fixed in 7.0.235 code or do I need to set the lifetime of the account lower.

  • Lobby ambassador guest acounts

When creating a guest user account using lobby ambassador on wcs 4.2 the guest account defaults to 8 hours. I would like to change the default time to 1 day. Does anyone know how i can do this?
    Thanks!

Great. Also, I noticed that when using ACS to authenticate the user that creates guest accounts the lobby ambassador default settings don't apply to this user. Any ideas on how to correct this? Any estimated date when 5.1 will be released?
    Thanks!

Here my problem I need to be able to limit my AD users to a 10min access to the WLAN.  I see you can do this for guest accounts, but you have to manually enter a username and password.  I would like the web authentication to use our ACS which is tied in to our AD.   Is there a way to do this?

    Weterry,
Here the whole story.  I have a bookstore that going to have “Demo” pc for students to buy.  The want to show the internet on these devices, but our security guy require all users to logon.  I was hoping to find a way to let user logon quickly to test these devices.
I have already figure out the web auth and that great feature, but you have to manually enter each user.   If I could get that to use AD and limit each to 10min that would be great. I would like to setup a SSID for the demo devices and limit users to 10 min.
I have 2 WiSM controllers running 6.0 also have WCS .
    Thanks

  • Customize Guest Self Registration on CPPM to print receipts immediately after registration

This article talks about printing the registration receipt automatically after registration.
Environment: This article implies to CPPM 6.2 and greater.
I want to get a printout of "Visitor Registration Receipt" automatically without using the print option.
We can achieve by adding a PHP code in the Footer section of the Receipt page.
Login to Clear Pass Guest Module and navigate to "Home » Configuration » Guest Self-Registration".
Select the profile which we are using and Edit.
Select the profile which we are using and Edit.
Click on Footer and add the PHP code as shown below.
    {literal}
    <script type="text/javascript">
    window.print('guest_receipt.php?id=8');
    </script>
    {/literal}
    Save and apply.
We can also force redirect to registration page after the print of receipt is done by adding the below code in the same place.
    <meta http-equiv="refresh"
    content=2;url=<YOUR GUEST REGISTRATION PAGE>?_clear=1"/>
The above code will refresh the page and redirect you back to self registration page.

Hi,this code did not work for me. It redirects me to the main CPPM admin login page  This is your code: <meta http-equiv="refresh"

  • WCS 6 Guest User bulk creation

I am using the csv import feature to create guest ID's when I add a guest, but when I try to schedule a guest there is no option for importing a file.  I would think that scheduling in advance would be more useful if you could do it in bulk.  Is there a way to scedule users with a csv file?
    Thanks,
    Gene

There is currently no way to import via .csv for schedule guest users.  You could open a PERS with your account team if it is a business need.

  • Can't remove wcs guest account if account has expired on wlc

Hi. I am running wcs 4.1.91.0. I'm using Lobby Ambassoador functionality. I've found that if you create a guest acount using wcs with a limited lifetime, then after that lifetime period, you cannot delete the guest account from wcs as the account has already expired on the wlc. You get no error message in wcs -it just shows a JavaVoid error message at the bottom of the browser. I'm assuming wcs is trying to delete the account from the wlc but cant because the account is no longer on the wlc. Has this been resolved in a later version of wcs yet??

Here is the URL Cisco Guest Access Using the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller follow the configuration guide it will help you manage the guest account in WLC :

  • Guest account on WCS doesn't work as expected

    Hi,
I have scheduled a guest account on WCS (6.0), valid 180 days, generate password every day and email to myself, and applied to our WLCs( 5.1). The first day, guest account was created on all WLCs, and emailed me the password, worked fine, the second day, I received email with the new password, but the guest account has disappered from  all WLCs, on WCS, this guest account still show as 'Active' but not apply to any WLC.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Our WLC version is 5.1.151.0 and WCS version was 6.0.132.0 but I just upgraded it to 6.0.170.0.  Guest Account Sync option is enabled now ( once a day). I think I find something, one is the time on WCS and WLCs was different before (corrected this now), second, the guest account start time and end time was set to same time (1:00 Jan 1, 2010- 1:00 Jul 1, 2010) or from 8:30 Jan 1, 2010 to 8:00 Jul 1, 2010. I thought this time setting is the lifetime of the account, but actually it's the active time of the account on every scheduled day, so I change this to from 1:00 Jan 1, 2010 to 23:00 Jul 1, 2010, So far,it works fine -  this guest account is created at 1:00 and removed at 23:00 everyday.
By the way, is there any documentation to tell how WCS works with WlC underneath the GUI?
    Thanks for your help!

  • WCS Guest Access

Our current wirleess infrastructure consist of a WCS/WLC and AP's.
We currently have guest access  and use the lobby ambassdor  feature on the WCS .The Guest users are currentlty created manually by the lobby ambassdor manually
There was request that came internally to automate the entire process and reduces the time required to create the guest users .
Our requirement would be to create a set of 50 users with random password created by the WCS  and then push this credentials to the WLC's .
Our lobby ambassdor would take print out of these user/password details and put in an envelope  and give out to the guest users when requested.
The users list will only  be valid for a day and for the next day we create another set of 50 users .
The credentials should only be active for 3 hours  from the time they log in  which means if a user logins at 9 AM he session should only be active for 3 hours.
Iam looking at insights on how we can acheive the same using WCS or any third paty guest access applications or i can also look at developing my own application with some kind of an API that can talk with WCS.
    TIA
    Sandeep

Nicolas - You are right, all my requirements can be met by the NAC Guest server . I had been going through the documentation of this product for the past few days.
Couple of thoughts   that came into my mind is that all the features that i was looking at is all software based , it has no dependency on hardware .
Since we already use WCS for lobby ambassador, why did Cisco not integrate the same features on WCS and went and put it in the NAC .
I agree there is a strong correlation between NAC and Guest access  But Iam not able to justify in getting a new product /Hardware for doing advanced Guest access .
We bought the WCS primarily for the Guest access and guest account management and controller management was secondary .
I don't understand Cisco strategy as to putting pieces of the same feature in multiple devices and customer having to purchase different hardware for the different features of the same technology.
I understand that this is not a forum to comment but just thought of penning down my views .However i will have a talk with the Cisco SE on the same.
    Thanks for your help- Regards

  • ISE Guest Portal Print Notification

    Hi,
with the old NAC Guest Server I was able to "design" the guest notification printout with HTML elements. With ISE i can only write down some plain text. Does anyone know how to change things like font size for the printouts?
    Regards,
    Andreas

Unfortunately, this is not natively supported with ISE 1.2.  However, the guest notification will be customizable using HTML in ISE 1.3.  This version will hopefully be released during the last week of November.

  • Can I connect a thumb drive to my Mac on a Guest Account?

My dad needs to use my Mac for an office presentation. He will use the guest account and present from a thumbdrive. Problem is, the Mac can't seem to detect it. Is the guest acount programmed that way? He really needs this.

the guest account should be able to use a thumb drive.
does your dad have a pc? some thumbdrives only work for pcs while some only work on macs
i would recomend trying to mail the presentation and log on the guest account chekc the mail and download it

  • NAC guest server with RADIUS authentication for guests issue.

    Hi all,
We have just finally successfully installed our Cisco NAC guest server. We have version 2 of the server and basically the topology consists of a wism at the core of the network and a 4402 controller at the dmz, then out the firewall, no issues with that. We do however have a few problems, how can we provide access through a proxy without using pak files obviously, and is there a way to specify different proxies for different guest traffic, based on IP or a radius attribute etc.
The second problem is more serious; refer to the documentation below from the configuration guide for guest nac server v2. It states that hotspots can be used and the Authentication option would allow radius authentication for guests, I’ve been told otherwise by Cisco and they say it can’t be done, has anyone got radius authentication working for guests.
    https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/nac/guestserver/configuration_guide/20/g_hotspots.html
    -----START QUOTE-----
Step 7 From the Operation mode dropdown menu, you can select one of the following methods of operation:
•Payment Provider—This option allows your page to integrate with a payment providing billing system. You need to select a predefined Payment Provider from the dropdown. (Refer to Configuring Payment Providers for details.) Select the relevant payment provider and proceed to Step 8.
•Self Service—This option allows guest self service. After selection proceed to Step 8.
•Authentication—This option allows RADIUS authentication for guests. Proceed to Step 9.
    ----- END QUOTE-----
Your help is much appreciated on this, I’ve been looking forward to this project for a long time and it’s a bit of an anti climax that I can’t authenticate guests with radius (We use ACS and I was hoping to hook radius into an ODBC database we have setup called open galaxy)
    Regards
    Kevin Woodhouse

Well I will try to answer your 2nd questions.... will it work... yes.  It is like any other radius server (high end:))  But why would you do this for guest.... there is no reason to open up a port on your FW and to add guest accounts to and worse... add them in AD.  Your guest anchor can supply a web-auth, is able to have a lobby admin account to create guest acounts and if you look at it, it leaves everything in the DMZ.
Now if you are looking at the self service.... what does that really give you.... you won't be able to controll who gets on, people will use bogus info and last but not least.... I have never gotten that to work right.  Had the BU send me codes that never worked, but again... that was like a year ago and maybe they fixed that.  That is my opinion.
