WCS Guest User Credentials print

We encounter a minor but annoying issue when creating guest user accounts on our Wireless Control system.
Once a guest user is created our reception often faces the need to print the new guest user out on paper, when printing the system always print an extra blank page, which is just a wasted page.
As far as we can identify by viewing the source code for the Guest User Account Credentials page there is a parameter that causes this extra page to happened.
<p style="page-break-after: always;">
Since I doubt it will be something Cisco will spend a lot of resources on, I've been looking for the actual piece of code that creates this page in order to update the style sheet so it doesn’t produce this extra blank page, but so far without success.
Any one got a pointer to what scripts / files that handles this part ?
Note
This has been observed on WCS version 6.0.202.0 and 7.0.164.0
Any feedback is appriciated.

Hi Kayle
Yes thats an work around or just simple select what page to print during the print dialog.
This is one of those situation that you know the system has an anoying error but at the same time also knowing that its by no way critical.
I'll see if I cant report is as a bug and maybe it will be corrected in a furture release or maybe we have taken other means innto use before that.
Thanks for your reply.

  • Scheduling WCS Guest User Accounts

    Hi all,
I am question concerning scheduling WCS guest user accounts. I would appreciate having opportunity to schedule WCS guest account as a lobby ambassador. I know it is possible to do that but only in case that you allow (as administrator) for the user "lobby ambassador" set up "lifetime" to unlimited. If you set up a limited lifetime in "Defaults for creating Guest User accounts", the lobby ambassador is not able to schedule WCS guest account because this options is missing.
Is it possible to do that without this restriction?
The second issue is the email which consists of the guest user account credentials. Each time the scheduled time comes up, the guest user account credentials are emailed to the specified email address.
Is it possible to send the credentials right after creating the guest user account and not when the scheduled time comes up which can be a week later?
    Jozef

No this should not be done because, the credentials are pushed by WCS to the controller only when the time comes.
Once the WLC confirms the user is created, then WCS goes ahead and send you the credentials.
Technically this could be added to WCS, it would be a PERs : Personnal Enhancement Request to be filed from your System Engineer, Account / Sales team

  • Disabling the unlimited Lifetime option in Cisco WCS Guest User Creation

Is there  a way to disable the unlimited Lifetime option in Cisco WCS Guest User Add/Schedule tab.If i make those fields uneditable, it just takes out the option to schedule any meetings in future.Using Cisco WCS version 7.0.220.0.

i'm also searching for an solution to disable the unlimited lifetime button for the Lobby Ambassador.
could it that Cisco introduces this maybe a future release?
couldn't be that there are only few people who are disappointed with this solution.
My Customer is thinking now that cisco isn't the right solution for him.

  • Cutomization of Printing or E-mailing WCS Guest User Details

Is there any way that we can customise the text that is is printed as html or emailed. We would like to remove some field and add some text to the template that bring up the Guest User Detail page, however can't find how to proceed.
Also would it be possible to have the email sent look like the print version, email being sent as html instead of pure text
    Thanx!

As far as I know and I have asked it also, it is not possible by default. Maybe with a look into the deep but that isn't supportet! :(
I would like have it too in the past where I used the wsc.

  • WCS - Guest User Creation

Hello. I have a question related to the Lobby Ambassador login in WCS and creating user accounts in an environment using a guest Anchor controller. Specifically, if a 'lobby ambassador' is logged into WCS from 2 timezones away (anchor is in same location as WCS) creating a user, they will see the local time of the WCS (for start/stop times), correct? Is there a way to make it present the local time to the lobby ambassador so they don't have to figure out the correct start/stop times for their location?
    Hopefully this question makes sense.
Thank you for your time and assistance,
    Jeff

Lobby admins created guest users are always in the WCS timezone. If controllers are in another timezone, the lobby admin needs to adjust the time accordingly while creating guest users.

  • Cisco WCS guest user expires after few days

    1) Hardware we are using:
    WCS version 6.0.196.
    WLC version 6.0
    2) Configuration steps we carried out:
We have created guest user using Lobby admin account having for accessing WLC which we are having in network. it works fine for some days but after that we have observed the particular guest user account status showing expired on WCS. Wanted to mention we have used Unlimited tab for life time while creating guest user account. The Account life time for guest user at the point of configuration was showing ( status -- Active, Account Lifetime -- Never Expire)
    The document we followed.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/6.0/configuration/guide/6_0manag.html#wp1086189
    3) Problem we are facing.
After some days(we are not sure about how many days) the guest users account shows "Expired"
    4) Requirement.
Configuration of particular user with account life time as never exipre.
    Regards,
    Pramod.

During the point of problem from WCS logs I observed the "Guestuser Service" is giving problem, below is the error. The detailed log is attached herewith.
14:11:39.488 ERROR[general] [24] [GuestUserService] User does not belong to group 'Lobby Ambassador' or defaults are not set COMMON-11,LobbyAmbDefaults
The issue is associated with mentioned bug
    CSCti79856
    Symptom:
WCS deletes the Guest User Template when trying to de-provision it from a controller. Instead of deleting the guest user from the selected controllers, the user is removed from all controllers and the template deleted from WCS.
    Conditions:
Using the delete functionality on the Guest User Template Page
After upgrading WCS version from 6.0.196.0 to 7.0.172.0 issue was resolved. Thanks..

    Hello,
The logo on the page which would be printed with the guest user credentials can be customized. It can be done from:
Administration > Users, Roles & AAA > Users > Click on the User name for 'Lobby Ambassador' > Click on the 'lobby Ambassador Defaults' tabs & scroll down to see the 'update Logo' option.
The details of the emails/credentials format can't be customized.

  • How to remove CPI Logo from Guest Users Printed Credentials?

    Hi all,
I recently migrated from NCS 1.1.2.12 to PI 2.1 for one of my customers.
My concern is related to the printed credentials for Guest Users on a WLAN which uses Web Authentication, this credentials are generated by Lobby Ambassador accounts.
When I print the credentials for Guest Users, the Cisco Prime Logo is included at the top of the printed paper, which is something that did not happen in NCS prior to the migration.
Do you guys know if there is a way to remove that Cisco Prime logo so this is not printed along with the credentials?
    Thank you in advance.
    Calvillo

    Hi Nour,
Sorry, it is not a concern... I think I should've used the word "doubt" instead.
I also thought that removing the PI logo was not possible but want to make sure before confirming this to the customer. He just doesn't want the logo to appear on the paper.
    Thanks!

  • WCS - Lobby Ambassador users don't see each other's guest users

Hi, we currently have the problem with WCS 5.2 that a user of the group "Lobby Ambassador" cannot see guest users that have been created by another user of that group. The user can only see his own created guest users. All are in the same virtual domain which is the root-domain.
I believe this behaviour was not this way in previous versions, here all guest users were visible to all Lobby Ambassador users.
I couldn't find any hint in the documentation about this.
Is this simply a change in behaviour (works as designed) or is this maybe a bug?

    You will get this error:
Error(s): You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
Error:A Guest User account with the name ''lobby user'' has already been created by you or another WCS Lobby Ambassador user. Please choose a different User Name for this Guest account.

  • WCS 4.1.91 Guest User creation error

When I try to add a guest user using my LobbyAmbassador operator account, I consistently get an error stating "End date can not be older than start date".
The user is a limited life time, and we are trying to set end time using calendar, setting life to 48 hours basically. Just this week I upgraded to WCS4.1.91 and WLC4400's wo 4.1.185.0.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Darcy,
    It looks like you are hitting this bug;
    CSCsi79726 Bug
Creating scheduled user - message confusing -end date
Symptom:Cannot create scheduled guest users with the lobby ambassador because of error "the end date cannot be older than the start date"
    Conditions:version 4.1.83.0
    Workaround:Upgrade to version 4.1.91.0
Further Problem Description:The creation is failing because
of the difference between the server and the client times. Initially user UI's
are populated by considering server times and user selections are evaluated
against client timings. The lifetime calculated is invalid because of
difference between client and the server timings.
It looks like WCS 4.1.91 was supposed to fix this issue, so if it is still happening you should really open a TAC case :(
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem when WCS creates user guest access on the WLCs

    Hello,
In my Wireless network, I have two appliances WLC 5508 running version 7.0.116.0.
I have a WCS running version 7.0.172.0, deployed on a windows 2003 server.
I've imported the two WLCs in my WCS in order to centralize the monitoring and the configuration tasks.
Now I'm facing an issue when I want to create a guest user from the WCS, rather than creating this user access on each WLC.
The creation of the user account is working good, the replication is done on the both WLCs, but on one of my WLC the guest user account is deleted after one hour(around).
On the second WLC, the same user account remains during all its life time.
In attachment a screen shot of the advanced parameter of the guest user.
You can see that the user was created on the both WLC but is only active on one ... and unfortunately the wrong because the AP is associated with the other WLC.
    Any idea about this issue?
    By advance thanks.

Thank you for sharing the info. I am glad that your issue is now fixed

  • WCS 6 Guest User bulk creation

I am using the csv import feature to create guest ID's when I add a guest, but when I try to schedule a guest there is no option for importing a file.  I would think that scheduling in advance would be more useful if you could do it in bulk.  Is there a way to scedule users with a csv file?
    Thanks,
    Gene

There is currently no way to import via .csv for schedule guest users.  You could open a PERS with your account team if it is a business need.

  • WCS Guest Access

Our current wirleess infrastructure consist of a WCS/WLC and AP's.
We currently have guest access  and use the lobby ambassdor  feature on the WCS .The Guest users are currentlty created manually by the lobby ambassdor manually
There was request that came internally to automate the entire process and reduces the time required to create the guest users .
Our requirement would be to create a set of 50 users with random password created by the WCS  and then push this credentials to the WLC's .
Our lobby ambassdor would take print out of these user/password details and put in an envelope  and give out to the guest users when requested.
The users list will only  be valid for a day and for the next day we create another set of 50 users .
The credentials should only be active for 3 hours  from the time they log in  which means if a user logins at 9 AM he session should only be active for 3 hours.
Iam looking at insights on how we can acheive the same using WCS or any third paty guest access applications or i can also look at developing my own application with some kind of an API that can talk with WCS.
    TIA
    Sandeep

Nicolas - You are right, all my requirements can be met by the NAC Guest server . I had been going through the documentation of this product for the past few days.
Couple of thoughts   that came into my mind is that all the features that i was looking at is all software based , it has no dependency on hardware .
Since we already use WCS for lobby ambassador, why did Cisco not integrate the same features on WCS and went and put it in the NAC .
I agree there is a strong correlation between NAC and Guest access  But Iam not able to justify in getting a new product /Hardware for doing advanced Guest access .
We bought the WCS primarily for the Guest access and guest account management and controller management was secondary .
I don't understand Cisco strategy as to putting pieces of the same feature in multiple devices and customer having to purchase different hardware for the different features of the same technology.
I understand that this is not a forum to comment but just thought of penning down my views .However i will have a talk with the Cisco SE on the same.
    Thanks for your help- Regards

  • How can I create a custom environment for the guest user in Mavericks?

    Hello Mavericks insiders
I need to setup several new MacBooks running Mavericks for school use. We want to use guest because everything is reset at each login. However, I first need to permanently customise the environment for the guest user:
    - doing program first runs
    - adjusting printer settings
    - dock settings
    - wallpper
I think I have to copy certain library files in the Terminal. Which files exactly? From where to where? What is the correct Terminal syntax to do so?
    Many thanks in advance!
