WCS Report - Disassociated APs

Is it possible to run a report containing all Disassociated APs? I tried all the Device reports in the report launch pad and they only report on associated APs. I can obviosly view them in Monitor/Access Points but I cannot report on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I wouldnt even mind if I had to run a report on ALL AP's and just filter out Disassociated APs in Excel.
Thanks,
Phil

Never mind - I figured it out.
Report Launch Pad - Device - Inventory
Report Type - AP
Customize - Custome Report name - Disassociated APs
Thanks Phil!

  • WCS Alarms - Disassociated AP's

I've just installed WCS for the first time and have been configuring the email alerts/alarms. I left the default settings of Critical alerts only but find I am getting spammed.
Now, I want to be alerted when an AP goes offline, but I've found that quite a few of the AP's seem to momentarily loose connectivity on one if not both radio interfaces - and then immediately come back up.
This results in 2 email alerts almost simultaneously - one telling me the AP interface has shut down and disassociated from the controller, and then immediately after another email telling me the previous message has been cleared and the AP has re-associated with the controller. It doesn't appear to be specific AP's but random ones throughout the day.
    So 2 questions:
1 - Is this normal behavior for access points and if not, what could be causing it?
2 - Is there any way to set a threshold on the length of time an AP is down before receiving an email alert from WCS?
WCS - 5.2 (the latest build)
    WLCs - 4404 with 5.1.151.0
    APs - 1131AG
    Thanks in advance.

I have TAC Case opened for very similar issue.
    WCS 5.2.130
    WiSM 5.2.178
    APs 1252
1st part was that my WiSMs were not set up...the 1st Octet of the Service Port must be different than Manager and AP Manager interfaces. It is actually in a doc -- it ignores the subnet masks!
After I changed that (requires WLC reboot) my messages went down quite a bit. But there is a 2nd part ... not sure if it affects 1131s. I was told that there is a bug in the Marvell chipset. They have a fix in beta and it is going through regression testing. Hopefully out in next release by end of May. So my case is in "Release Pending" status waiting for the fix to be released.
    Hope this helps...

  • WCS Reports

I've been asked to create a report that shows the wireless usage of certain clients. The reports that I have tried so far have just given me the the time they connected and the time they disconnected. Is there a way to create a report that shows how much tx and rx data a client is creating? I tried the busiest clients report but, I'm looking to get a report of some specific clients that are not even close to the busiest clients. We are trying to make a business case for some specific devices.
    thanks, Pat.

    Hi,
did you try going to "monitor->clients", finding the specific client(s) you like. On that client you select "session report", from there you customize content to include tx and rx in bytes or packets sent/received and you run the report ?
This is the way to do for clients 1 by 1. Alternatively you can run reports for all clients and export to CSV and from there select only the clients you want but I don't think there is a "multiple clients" selection directly on the WCS

  • WCS Report to find b vs g clients?

Recent discussion on the Educause wireless-lan email list (
http://listserv.educause.edu/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A0=WIRELESS-LAN ) has suggested that many people are getting much better thruput on their 2.4 GHz networks by dropping support for the "b" data rates of 5.5 an 11 Mbps. (Also the 1 and 2 Mbps rates, but we'd disabled them a while ago.)
The thinking is that by now most clients have "g" capable hardware, yet the wireless system still might operate in "mixed b+g" mode, which is slower, if b isn't disabled.
But, before I turn the b rates off, I wanted to check to see how my current clients are connecting. I can't find anything on the Reports page that shows the connection speeds being used. Is there a way to get this data?
Also, is disabling the 1, 2, 5.5, and 11 Mbps speeds the right way to turn off support for b, or is there a different setting?
I have a pair of 4402 WLCs, so I'm stuck at version 7.0.230.0 for my WCS, if that makes a difference in the answer.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Scott,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply -- I was looking through all the reports, when the "protocol" column is right there on the Monitor Clients page. Simple!
I hadn't thought of looking directly on the WLC, either; probably a good habbit to develop for tricker stuff.
Happly, none of our 2.4 GHz users seem to be using the "802.11b" protocol, so I guess I can disable it without causing any disruption. (Though I'll wait and make the change Monday AM rather than late Friday evening :-)
    Cheers,
    Steve

  • WCS report to get client count history

Hello! I've been poking around the Reports feature of our WCS Controller (version 7.0.164.0) and I'm trying to figure out how to get a history of the number associated clients on a particular AP over a specific date range. Is this possible? Thanks!

    Christopher,
    Check out this link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/7.0/configuration/guide/7_0reps.html#wp1135255
Try running the report called AP by Floor Area.
Is this what you are looking for?

  • WCS reporting issue

When reporting on Rogues in WCS ( all versions ) using Reports > Rogue AP's , the report never lists any other types of AP other than ' malicious ' , even though ' friendly ' AP's exist
Any one else had this issue ?

The logic is why would you want to see your AP's classified as "friendly". As a (wireless) administrator, you are more concerend about AP's that are not friendly to you, i.e. Unclassified and Rogue.

  • User names for non-existing guest accounts appearing in WCS reports

    Hi All,
I currently have a client where we have deployed a guest network using webauth and the lobby ambassador account to provision guest users under WCS 5.2.
When running client detail reports there are a number of odd behaviours that i don't understand.
First and most importantly the username section of the report is populated with usernames that have never been provisioned and do not currently exist.
I made a guess and thought maybe it was recording usernames of people who had attempted to log in via webauth using their normal user accounts as the recorded names were in this format but this did not generate an entry in the report.
The second issue was that a lot of users had pulled down a few MB (8.5 was the highest at that point) of data while not authenticated. The standard webauth page is used with some minor changes and this is tiny so i can't account for where this data is coming from unless they are pulling down that page repeatedly.
I am hoping someone will have experienced these 2 situations and can assist.
    Thanks
    Ben

The username section can get populated from the users that do exist on the controller.
The second issue doesnt make much sense, you may want to open a TAC SR to investigate this further

  • Can't Modify WCS Report File Destination

Once I upgraded to WCS 6.0.132.0 I can no longer change the destination file location when I run reports. The reports seem to run on schedule but they end up in the default location of C:\WCSFTP\reports\. I would like to change that to my E: where I have more space to save reports. Before version 6.0.132.0 I was able to do this.

Oops, I sent the wrong screenshot.
Go to administration -> settings and you can change the folder there.
You can not customize the file name but surely you can change the location to save the files.
    See file attached.

  • WCS report to show duplex on associated AP's

Is there a report that I can run in WCS to show me the speed and duplex that my AP's are operating at?

    Hi,
MR11 does not result in an update if you select the correct option ("prepare list" at the bottom). so simply select the "GR/IR clearing Account" option.
Also use a large tolerance so that you get everything.
But I am still not sure how you have entered invoices without POs, was something other than MIRO used? If so then MR11 may not help either because this depends on POs.
If you HAVE used something other than MIRO I doubt if you can get such a list without some clever ABAP, after all you don't have to specify the PO ever if you are doing a two way match through the FI functions instead of using MIRO. So there would not be a standard report.

  • WCS Report - Rogues on Wired LAN

Each WLC on our network shows "Rogues on Wired Network" from the Summary screen, however, checking these can be time consuming due to the number of WLC's in the network.
All of the WLC's are connected to a WCS so I was wondering whether a report for "Rogues on Wired Network" is available on the WCS??
I've spent a while looking around the WCS but can't find this information.
Any help that would make checking this easier greatfully recevied...

Unfortunately no. The feature works quite well only since WCS 6.0.
If you have a WCS 4.1 you may be able to update to 5.2 or 6.0 as licensing should be the same. Check with your sales team.

  • WCS reporting -128db

I have a WISM LWAPP deployment with 4 WISM blades (2 are for backup), 400 1231 and 1242 AP's. I use WCS to monitor the WLAN. My problem is tracking down why stationairy clients are frequently reporting through WCS a -128db signal strength when the client is located less than 50 feet from an AP. This is happening on all SSID's and in multiple buildings. It does not happen to all of the clients on a given AP, and does not seem to happen on all clients. It happens at random times. My thought is that WCS only polls clients every 10 minutes (I changed this from the default 15 minutes) so the signal loss indicated by -128db is probably happening much more frequently. This is happening to iPAQ's, tablets, symbol mc70's, laptops both windows and MAC.
I am also seeing very high MIC and FCS error counts.
Any suggestions on a command to monitor a client to see whats goiing on.
    Thanks

You can use the WCS navigator. The Cisco WCS Navigator provides network administrators with easy, cost-effective access to information from multiple geographically diverse Cisco WCS management platforms. This innovative platform allows network managers to partition the unified wireless network at the management level.

  • WCS Reports - SSID Filter

    Hi All,
Currently running Cisco WCS 7.0.220.0 and when l go into Reports, Report Launch Pad and select a specific report e.g Client Traffic and l want to report by SSID , when l go to edit the Filter Criteria for SSID's, it is not showing all the SSID's ?
I currently do have some disabled and some that are enabled that are not showing in the List ?  Does anybody know why l am not able to display all SSID's in this list ?  Possibly something to do with Data Management ?
    Thanks SG

Just took a look at my lab WCS and all my SSID's show up there.  This is a lab WCS, so my WLC version is at 7.3 right now and I don't really use WCS, but it shows up.
    Thanks,

  • WCS reports Radius server port 1813 up and down.

    Hi all,
Help me on this, please. I use Radius server 172.20.104.253 and .254 port 1812 to authenticate some wireless clients. However, the .254 keep failling, deactivate on port 1813 (this is from the log); resulting some clients can't authenticate. How do I approach this? Why port 1813 fail effect the authentication which is on port 1812 ?
    Thanks.

    jedubois!
I use Cisco ACS as my radius. For laptops, instead using pre-shared key, I use radius to authenticated the laptop. I create user/password on AD (username is laptop name). On laptop under Intel Proset/Wireless utility, I create a profile with this username. Upon startup, the Proset/Wireless utility authenticates this user this radius server; then gives the laptop wireless connectivity; no pre-shared key needed.
On the WCS event view; radius server is timeout (activated and deactivated) every 2 seconds (like you said; it is default). But is on port 1813 and I config radius server on WCS on port 1812.
My questions are what is ideal timeout on each radius server? and why radius server report timeout on port 1813 instead of 1812?
FYI, I ping -t both of my radius servers. And radius servers are available all the time.
    Regards.

  • How is the MAC to Vendor substitution in some WCS reports made by?

    Hi,
I'm running WCS 7.0.164.0 and using several reports. For example in the 'clientsession' report there is a column 'Vendor'. I this column the clients MAC Address is substituted by a Vendor Name like Intel, HTC, Apple, etc..  I was wondering how the substitution is made by. Is this a editable file? I'm in the need to have the substitution for newer Apple iPad MAC's which are marked as unknown in the Report.    Any hints to do that?
    Greetings Ralf

    UPDATE
I'm running the Linux Version of WCS 7.0.164.0 and could not find the vendorMacs.xml as referenced in the above Link. Does anyone know the Filename and location for the Linux Version?
    tnx Ralf
Found it: after I corrected a Typo with the grep command.. ;-))

  • WLSE Not showing the RSSI the AP reported Rogue APs in my scanning-only mod

    Hi guys
I have a WLSE version 2.15.1 which is configured to detect Rogue AP, APs are 1242, when I see the Unknown AP detail the RSSI has a value of 0 for all Rogue AP detected any help or suggestions, I will be very useful.
    Thank you.
    Greetings

If the RSSI value is zero, then the AP is not active at all. Do you see the same value for all the APs. Does the WLSE provide correct RSSI values for the known APs?
