WCS-requirements-utilization

Hi,my customer want to install WCS-base (to manage 2 controller 4402-50 and 50 AP) using a intel server with strong performance (bi-processor 3,6 GHz, 4 GB Ram) but unfortunatly
they want to use the same server for the applications listed below.
I've seen in syst. requirements that a dedicated server is supported (I've suggested a dedicated vmware image....) abd I can chang http-https mgmt port but wich type of problems could I have with this server using all these applications + WCS ?
Maybe Cisco-TAC don't accept tickets for this configuration because is "fully" unsupported ?
The wifi infrastructure will remain the same, no enlargement are planned.

ok,thank for your help.
I'm going to require additional RAM (+4 GB)
and I will suggest a quad processor instead of a bi-processor. I will also explain to customer that probably this configuration is not supported by cisco, even if it works, and they could not open a ticket/TAC request.

WCS Maps - Utilization

Hi all, Hope all is well :)
I have a new building with a floor of wireless enabled. Have imported the map and it is on the WCS.
Thing is, the view of the map shows that there are no clients associated on any of the APs. When I change the view, it shows all my APs as 20-30% utilsation.
Is this a bug? How else can I get AP stats without the WCS?

I have mate, and there we no clients ???
Also, just trying to look at the profile traps I am receiving, I am getting a lot of Interference traps (no clients connected as I say) and I know the threshold is set low to the default of 10%.
but
what is the graph on the WLC showing me, for the Interference by Channel
What is the meaning of the blue bar per channel and the red one per channel?
Im a tad confused.

Mobility Service Enginer & WCS required or not?

I have Cisco Wireless Lan Controller 5508 with 35 (3600 Series Access Points. Do i need to purchase Mobility Service Engine for this or no need? Do i need WCS server for this or no need?

The WCS/NCS/Prime and MSE are optional devices that you don't need to get your wireless up and running. So no, you don't need to purchase those devices unless you want the features those devices will provide you. These features are listed in the data sheet.

WCS OS Requirements

I understand that WCS requires Windows 2003 SP1 or greater....but wanted to see if anyone knows of any problems or compatibility issues if it is run on Windows 2003 R2.

No problems as long as it is a clean install. No IIS running at all. This causes port problems.

Firewall ports for WCS to talk to controllers

I have a WCS on one side of a firewall, and a controller on the other side. What ports and protocols would I need to open in the firewall to allow the WCS to manage the controller? All I can find is info on what ports to open for a client to access the WCS. Thanks for any help!!

When there is a conflicting port in use, WCS fails to get started with just the error message "Failed to start WCS Server." The WCS requires these ports to be available in the machine:
   *Checking for Port 1299 availability... OK
       *Checking for Port 80 availability... OK
     *Checking for Port 443 availability... OK
     *Checking for Port 8009 availability... OK
     *Checking for Port 8456 availability... OK
     *Checking for Port 8457 availability... OK
     *Checking for Port 8005 availability... OK
     *Checking for UDP Port 69 availability... OK
     *Checking for Port 21 availability... OK
Make sure that you do not run other applications on those ports, such as web server (80), TFTP Server (69), or FTP server (21). On a WCS installed on linux, go to WCS/webnms/logs/wcs-0-0.log and look for the conflicting ports. On Windows based WCS, you can run netstat -a from a DOS window to see the listening ports that are used. If this is the case, shut them down and try to restart WCS.

Oracle OleDB Provider VS MS OleDB Provider

I am using Stored Procedures in Oracle Packages and Microsoft ADO for data access.
My Stored Procedure use a Ref Cursor output parameter to make data available to ADO's recordsets.
A big difference in network traffic is found between "Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Oracle" and "Oracle OLEDB Provider" (the native driver provided by Oracle).
The main issue :

1) A stored procedure is put into an empty package for testing and returning no row, the result is 4KB downstream traffic.
2) When the SAME stored procedure is put into a large package (a package that already contained 30 other stored procedures, > 1000 lines codes), the result is 70KB downstream traffic for same call that return no row.
<<Microsoft OLEDB Provider>>
1) and 2) both use approximately 4KB downstream traffic.
However, for a query that return large number of rows (~2000 rows), Oracle OLEDB Provider used 143KB but MS OLEDB Provider used 400KB downstream.
The behaviours for upstream are similar.
My application is required utilize limited bandwidth, the the strange behaviour of the Oracle OLEDB Provider make my development of "Packaged" Stored Procedures a big problem.
Does anyone know if there are any tricky on the Oracle OLEDB Provider? Please advice, thanks in advance.

All agentless monitored servers showing same percent memory used

I have 13 servers that are managed agentless via a proxy agent on the gateway server. I do this as when I had them set up to use the agent, the agent was consuming too much CPU on the servers. So, all appears to be fine, it is pulling in the percent CPU
usage and such, and recognizes the OS version and what not. The issue I have, is I set up a dashboard with a performance widget to track the percent memory used. All of my agentless monitored servers show the same percentage, and the percentage is also much
higher than what I see on the actual servers. So, it appears that there may be some form of roll up or something on the agentless servers, or it's taking the highest from the group, or I'm not drilling into the right counter or something. I have two widgets,
one that is performance and one that is performance object. The performance one grabs the object "Memory", counter of "PercentMemoryUsed", with no performance instance selected (although I have also tried "all"). The performance
object widget selects the same performance counter (Memory / PercentMemoryUsed /) and again have also tried "all" there as well. This allows the performance widget to graph/show the last value and maximum value, while the performance object shows
me the average sorted from highest to lowest. I have another server that is agent managed in the same list, that shows what appears to be accurate information...and there is also a performance counter for cpu usage that appears to have accurate data for all
of the above (agent and agentless). So, why am I seeing this issue with my agentless servers?

Which of Adobe's many products best suits my Greetings Card idea???

Hi to everyone and I apologise in advance if this seems like a really naive question, however I am a complete noob. I have a small online shop that sells continental antiques and what I was wanting to do was to reproduce and sell antique or vintage greetings card. My problem is that the cards I like are in foreign languages and the cards being old are a bit shabby around the edges.
I am looking for some sort of adobe desktop publishing software that would enable me to a) resize the cards, b) alter the colours of the cards slightly and c) to reprint the actual greetings in a foreign language, into english but in the same fonts and finally, c) that would enable me to reset the slightly torn and foxed edges into clean white straight ones.
Adode do so much and some of the software costs hundreds and hundreds. As a small trader, I want something good enough to perform the above tasks, without any unneccessary fancy stuff.
Also can anyone recomment a suitable canon or epson printer that does fantastic detail and vivid colour for greetings cards up to 300gsm, without costing the earth
If you guys could give me the benefit of your experience I would be extremely grateful. Unfortunately there is a huge amount of deskstop publishing "stuff" out there, but I am at a complete loss as to how to work out what is right for me.

Welcome to the forum.
As "harrieb" mentioned above, there are free or low cost alternatives available. Since it sounds like your controlling your entire workflow, from editing to printing, those options may be fine for your needs as long as the features you need are present.
Depending on your operating system, Mac or PC? There should be plenty of low cost or even free options available to meet your needs, without having to buy into the Creative Cloud subscription model and be reliant upon continually making payments which sounds counter productive to your interests and desired financial investment. So rather than spending the money towards software that may exceed your requirements, utilize it instead towards your printer that you mentioned when you find one that meets your needs. If things take off concerning your idea, then maybe you can reevaluate down the road and make new decisions based upon the success of your efforts, future needs and financial criteria.
The other thing to mention and consider is the copyright of the cards you're hoping to reproduce for resale. ;-)

Top Wireless Client Bandwidth Utilization on WCS?

Hi, there.
Can I get the top wireless client bandwidth utilization info / report from WCS? I would like to know how high they can reach, and how many are those 'power users', so far I only find "Busiest Clients" but not quite certain sure about the meanings of the "threshold" and "utilization' besides, the minimum interval is 1 hour, which seems to long for me, I would like to have some data like MRTG which is in 5 minutes range, thanks.

Welcome to the discussions!
There is no "relay" function in the "extend a wireless network" setup. Each AX that is set to extend communicates directly to the Time Capsule and not to another device that might be between it and the Time Capsule.
If you need the "relay" function, your only real option to setup the WDS configuration to see if that might work better in your circumstance.
When you say that you have one AX setup as a client only, this implies that it is set to "join a wireless network". In the "join" setting, the AX only receives a wireless signal, it does not "extend" or rebroadcast the wireless signal. You might want to try setting this device to "extend" to see if that might help the network performance.

WCS(PART NO:AIR-WCS-WB-1.0-K9) MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Am a newbie to the wireless control system. My question is what is the minimum system requirements for installing a wcs with part number AIR-WCS-WB-1.0-K9 . There are two controllers in my set up which has a license for 50 access points ( 4402 controller). I have a windows server machine with 15GB of HDD, 2GB RAM and 2GHZ processor. Does this server meet the requirements for installing the above wcs. Please reply as soon as possible. Am afraid am in trouble!

WCS Utilization Reports

Does anyone know what commands are run at the controller and/or AP level when WCS runs reports for utilization? I'm trying to run those reports manually on a single AP. I'd ultimately like to know how I can get similar information by using an SNMP query.

We are running 6.0.182.0 on a number of WiSMs and have enabled CAC (Load-based) and Traffic Stream Metrics on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. We are still unable to view any TSM statistics either from the WLCs or through WCS. The exact same configuration works fine on a 4402 running 7.0.98.0. Is there any issue with Traffic Stream Metric collection and 6.0.182.0. The client does not want to upgrade past 6.0.182.0 on their WiSMs as 6.0.196.0 caused significant issues with port channels on the 6K. Eventually, we will move to 7.0.something, but will have to do some testing first. If you can shed any light on why TSM collection does not seem to work on 6.0.182.0 code, I would appreciate it.

Update SNMP to v3 on WLCs. Update also required on WCS?

I need to update the SNMP version on our WLCs to v3, using MD5 and aes128. This looks easy enough to do:
Management > SNMP > SNMP v3 users > new
From here i can add a new user (ie SNMPV3) and set MD5 and aes128 passwords. I will update our monitoring software to match the SNMP version and credentils, and our monitoring of the WLCs will then run under SNMP v3.
However, we also use a WCS to manage the WLCs (we use templates for wireless key changes etc)
I suspect i will need to update the SNMP details on here too, PER WLC ?
Configure > Controllers > (IP of specific WLC) > Properties > SNMP Properties
Within here i believe i need to add the MATCHING SNMPv3 credentials that i added to the WLC in queston, presumably so the WCS can still talk to the WLC..? Is this correct, or is there more than this that is required?
I also assume that any SNMP update on the WLCs and WCS will NOT impact the APs, because they chat to the WLCs via LWAPP and *not* SNMP...?

You are quite correct. You will need to update the v3 user on the WCS per WLC. And yes, it will not affect the AP.

Thank you very much for your quick response, my company is not an EOU.
Company sent 150 Kg of Material to Customer in that 50 Kg were damaged, so when I am trying to update in Quantity Tab Amended qty and checked the document that time system displayed message as Duty payable cannot be less than 500.00 ,I could not save the document, So in Utilization Tab PLA field mentioned only BED amount and system didn't give any error message document successfully saved.
In ARE3 document Part II Tab displayed and Accounting document created.Accounting entries are like this PLA-BED Debited, CENVAT Reversal Credited , How for this transaction is correct, shall I give this as a solution to my client, How to Post ECess, SHCess .

What are the bandwidth requirements between a WCS and a WLC?

We have a customer who has two locations Site A (approx. 30 APs) and Site B (approx. 50 APs). Each site has a WLC. The customer wants to deploy a WCS at Site A that will monitor both WLCs.
What I have been unable to find is how much traffic is going to be generated between the WCS at Site A and the WLC at Site B?
Primarily, I would like to understand how this configuration will impact their point to point WAN link.
Also, are there any known requirements in terms of max. allowable latency between the WCS and WLC?
Any anectdotal evidence would also be appreciated - such as any experiences running this over a T1.
In this particular case, the customer has a 100Mbps wireless point-to-point link as their WAN link, but I do not know the actual throughput capacity and/or if it is half or full duplex.

This is very interesting question and I will try to answer with what I know after supporting WCS for a while.
WLC and the WCS communicate over SNMP only. The generated traffic is SNMP (UDP). It's not a lot in terms of bandwidth, should I say quite minimal. Running over a T1 (not congested!) should be completly fine.
There are a few things we can control about snmp as you are over a WAN link: we can increase the SNMP timeout, we can increase the SNMP retries and also, we can reduce the max varbinds per PDU, so the snmp packets sent are smaller and dont get fragmented over your WAN ISP.
As SNMP is UDP, the only things you can control is the timeout and the number of retries because UDP doesnt have the control that TCP offers.
The most intense traffic will be when you first add your controllers in WCS.
I have seen quite a few deployments with WCS over WAN link and tweaking those settings I mentioned made it possible.
You can find those settings in WCS -> Administration -> Settings -> SNMP

Please help me I am unable to do the monthly utilization by J2iun for local excise invoice.
1) The series is maintained for no immediate utilization( check is un ticked) for immediate utilization for local excise.
2) for Export excise invoice it is working correctly as immediate utilization check is enabled.
3) For local excise utilization even though the settings are there for monthly or fortnightly utilization even then it is utilizing immediately in J1iin
Please help to resolve this.

1.Utilization Problem:
J2IU has to be used for monthly utilization . You will have to utilize Excise duty liability Excise duty wise by providing all the dispatch plants in the selection screen.
In the second screen of the j2i5 you will get all the credit balances accumulated in the respective excise group, utilize all the payable duty from accumulated credit shown in the screen.
Part2 entry will be created once you simulate & save.
2. Import material return:
If you material is returned to vendor then no need to reverse the credit.
Raise an OTHR invoice through J1IS providing the correct duty break-up.
