WD My Cloud iTunes folder

Hi!
I would like to purchase WD My Cloud Personal Storage drive. However I have question and I can not find the answer I´m looking for.
Today my iTunes folder is located on an external drive which is connected to my Mac via usb cable. This set up allows me to access the media on my iTunes folder from my iPhone/iPad/Apple TV.
If I buy WD My Cloud and move the iTunes folder to My Cloud drive, will I still me able to access my media with iPad/iPhone/Apple TV even though the folder is located on WD My Cloud?

I have iTunes on my mac book pro set up that way now. My WD Book Live is connected to an Airport Extreme with a folder for my videos and one for music. I added both to my library and it works well.
Hope this helps!

I have itunes folder on Sony Vaio that is seriously unwell. I can start up in safe mode but that's all.  It has home sharing enabled.I need to transfer the library onto this new computer before it completely gives up the ghost.I have i cloud but want the main folder transferred to this computer. If the computer only starts in safte mode, it is highly unlikely that network functionality works.
Copy or move the ENTIRE iTunes folder (and any other personal data you want) to an external drive.

  • How do I restore my iTunes library when "Previous iTunes Library" is not showing up in iTunes folder?

I turn off my PC with Windows 7 for an hour, turn it back on and suddenly the only songs that show up are ones in the Cloud.
I looked through a bunch of questions on the Apple Support Communitities and they all say look for the "Previous iTunes Library" in the iTunes folder, but it's not there.
    Thanks.

If you have AVG AntiVirus the issue may rear its head again. See this post.

  • How do I force iTunes to load all media in my iTunes folder into iTunes?

I copied over the iTunes folder from my Mac to my Windows 7 PC.  I went through the instructions I found online about transfering my iTunes library from a Mac to Windows and everything seemed to work fine except when I open up iTunes the only media it shows me is my purchased media, and all my playlists are gone.  iTunes doesn't show me any of the music or videos I have in my iTunes folder that is not also purchased.
I thought when I started iTunes and pointed it to the new iTunes folder it would read through everything in the folder and load it into iTunes but it has not.  I can manually add my music to iTunes but it would take hours to load everything.
So how do I force the latest version of iTunes to read through the iTunes folder and load everything into my iTunes library?
    Thanks.
    Jesse

If were talking about iTunes Store purchases then...
In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Store and turn off
Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases
Share details about your library with Apple
On any iOS device go to Settings > Music and turn off
    Show All Music
Close and reopen iTunes and/or reset the device and you should see your version of the metadata for each track rather than the original store data.
As given in my previous post there is a way to prepare an iTunes library for moving between systems such that it won't break the links between the library and the media. It sounds as if your library wasn't in quite the right shape to be moved successfully. Options are to go back and do it again, or you could repair what you have with my script FindTracks. For details on how it works see this thread.

  • Open itunes get error message, can't find iTunes folder! & doesn't open!

Hi, I have Downloaded iTunes but it some how has installed itself onto a USB pen drive that I had connected at the time. I have unplugged this and downloaded iTunes again...which seemed to go ok but when I click the iTunes icon an error message appears ' Cannot find iTunes folder, this is normally located in the My Music Folder' and will not open iTunes. I plug the USB pen in and it works fine! I have tried to copy & paste the files on the USB pen but it doesn't copy them properly...can anyone help?

    Hello mvguillet,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.
You can find the full article here:

  • How to manage one iTunes folder from multiple computers via a network?

    Hi there,
The Setup:  I have a macbook air, my partner has a macbook pro, we both have iPhones with our own iCloud accounts. There is an apple TV and an Airport Extreme with an external USB HDD in there too (which could potentially be plugged into the ATV via ethernet if need be).
What I want to be able to do:
1 - NOT have to store the music on my MBA
2 - Still be able to add music to/alter playlists and movies in the iTunes library that my MBA uses, from my MBA (ie if I end up with new music or movies on           the MBA I need a way to transfer it easily, -keeping in mind that not all the video will fit on the MBP HDD)
3 - Use the one iTunes music folder for both the MBA and the MBP (to avoid having to update both)
4 - Sync my iPhone with my iCloud email and contacts etc...
5 - Sync my partners iCloud with her own email and contacts etc...
6 - Sync music from the 'common' iTunes folder to either iPhone
7 - Use apps from my iTunesstore account on my both iPhones
8 - Stream video from the 'common' iTunes folder to the ATV in HD
Can someone please tell me how I make ALL of the above possible?
Things i'm not sure of are:
A- Where do I put my iTunes music folder? -Locally on the MBP, or on the External HDD in the airport Extreme?
B- Which of the above would iTunes match help with?
         C- Would homesharing be used?
D- What usernames/accounts do I have to put into the iPhones adn where? (itunes or icloud etc...)
For some reason I just can't get my head around how this setup will work.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm sort of in the same boat. We've got an iMac with separate User Accounts set up and are currently sharing the same iTunes and iPhoto libraries along with streaming them to our Apple TV.
Right now I'm the only one with an iPod, however she'll be getting one in a couple of weeks.
We also just picked up a MacBook yesterday and I'd like to be able to sync certain libraries like iTunes and iPhoto so that no content gets duplicated on either the iMac or MacBook and so that we both have access to the current libraries for each program on our iPods and AppleTV.
I have an external hard drive that I back up the iMac on and I assume I could manually keep things current with that but there's got to be an easier way...that's why these are Macs right?

  • How can I import my old Itunes folder into a new PC.

My PC crashed but my Itunes library (all music, playlists apps) was saved since I keep the itunes folder on a external Hard drive. My question is how can i put it back on the new PS where I already installed the Itunes. I thought I only had to tell the "new" Itunes where the folder was, but it didnt work...

Thanks a million! Im glad I had a back up. It´s working and syncing with my ipad!

  • Most of my iTunes library has disappeard. I cannot find them when I search in the iTunes folder either. How can I get them back?

I had hundreds of songs in my iTunes library, but when I open it now, I have about 40. They were a combination of downloaded songs from the iTunes store and songs loaded from my personal CD collection. I have searched for advice online. I have searched my iTunes folder and my recycle bin, and my songs are no longer there. I did not download a new version or plug in a device. Nothing has changed. Where could my songs be?

  • Importing songs to itunes folder from dvd's

i have a data dvd backup of all my 1400 songs from itunes folder. i tried to import it into a newly dowloaded version of itunes on my laptop with new hard drive.. it placed all the song info in the library, so i connected my ipod and directed it to this new library. it updated ipod successfully. but when i tried to play, i realized that i had only imported the song titles, etc. into itunes folder and subsequently onto ipod.. and because i directed to this "new" library, i lost all 1400 songs on the ipod.. pls help. how do i get my music from data dvd backup to library and to ipod. and do i have to import each song separately.. there are like 25 different folders on the dvd of albums, and downloads from itunes store....i just want what i had before my hard drive died. forgive me if i didn't post this right, my first time...

Note - You don't need to copy them to the HD first,
    as btabz suggested.
There are different ways to import music. You can copy them (the music files) onto the HD wherever you want and then import into iTunes, or have iTunes import directly off the DVD and put the files in the iTunes Music Folder. Both ways get the music into iTunes and stored on your HD. It depends if you want the music in the iTunes Music folder or not. With the way I suggested, the music is placed where you want, instead of having iTunes put it where it wants.
Both ways will work fine though.

  • Importing old iTunes folder to new computer

I would appreciate any help with this you can give.
I have a MacBook Pro that I had four multi-user accounts on. One of them got corrupted, so that one was deleted and another account was opened. I want to get all the old iTunes songs out of the corrupted user folder and put them in the new account iTunes folder. Do I just drag the whole old iTunes folder into the Music folder of new user? ... letting it overwrite the existing iTunes folder?
If I overwrite the new iTunes folder with the old iTunes folder, will it delete whatever I downloaded in the new iTunes since, or meld the old and new together? How do I keep from deleting newer songs and still keep the iTunes library or directories, or whatever, intact?
    Thanks,
    Michael

Just copy entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.

  • Importing to iTunes folder doesn't seem to work.

I don't know if this is a vista/itunes bug, but here I go:
I have a music library of about 60 gigs or so. When I try and import the songs WITHOUT moving the songs to iTunes directory, it works like a charm. However, if I check the box to move the imported songs TO the itunes folder, I only get a fraction of the music in my library. I would like for iTunes to import everything to the itunes directory.
Can I do this: Manually copy the music to the iTunes folder and then somehow import the itunes folder? (does that even make sense?)
    Thanks in advance
    M

Which files? Music or Photos? Do any songs in iTunes have an exclamation mark next to them? Other files as well? Do you remember what error messages that you were getting? Those error codes could be helpful.

  • ITunes doesn't/slowly add music to libary (can't find it by artist or album), but does add it to iTunes folder and playlists

When I drag and drop music to my iTunes, it starts copying files to the iTunes folder. Afterwards it scan's for loudness and artwork. That's all correct.
But after this I can't find the music in my Library, while it is resulted as search results. Also the songs are in different playlists (newly added and never played).
Only after about 45 min-1 hour the files áre in my library, without me doing or changing anything...
I use iTunes 11, never had this problem with iTunes 10.
Someone got any suggestions? Restarting iTunes won't work...

Do you use iTunes Match? People have reported this can slow the process down.

  • Downloading to itune folder

I installed The Dr. Laura Media Center so i could get their podcast, because itune doesn't download from their site. I must use their application which downloads their podcast to the default music folder. I use their program to change the folder for downloading to the podcast folder in my itune music folder. But I had to create a folder in the podcast folder title-" Dr. Laura " to contained the downloaded podcasts.
Question-when i launched itune and select podcast, the "Dr. Laura" is not listed. When I go back to to the itune folder and check under podcast, I see the Dr. Laura folder with the podcast. Does anyone know is happening ?

It's not listed anywhere in the library, I type in Dr. Laura and nothing showed up. I looked under artist in alphabetical order without success. I still see the podcast folder " Dr, Laura " , which I created in itunes⇒podcasts⇒( which contained 3 files ), Dr. Laura⇒Dr Laura - Aug 31 2007 - Hour 1.mp3, Dr Laura - Aug 31 2007 - Hour 2.mp3, Dr Laura - Aug 31 2007 - Hour 3.mp3. I don't see any other downloads for 9/1/07-09/207. Its supposed to be automatic.
Any other ideas? Should I re-installed and just make the default folder in the music section ?
Here are the instruction I was given,
    Windows Users:
    Download Now
    PC Users:
-- Right click on the audio download link, then choose "save target as."
-- Select where you want to save the MP3 file and click "Save." We suggest saving the MP3 file to your Desktop, so it can be easily retrieved.
-- Double click on the saved file. Your default media player (iTunes, Real Player, Windows Media -Player or Quicktime) will now open and play the MP3 file.
    Mac OS X Users:
    Download Now
    MAC Users:
-- ctrl+click and "Download Link to Disk" to download to your desktop.
-- Double click on the saved file. Your default media player (iTunes, Real Player, Windows Media Player or QuickTime) will now open and play the MP3 file.

  • Sort iTunes folder by album

I have a lot of music in an iTunes folder on a backup drive. I want to be able to sometimes take some of it and replace the existing music on my iPod. iTunes, however, has organized the music on the backup drive by artist. This is fine for most albums, but for some albums it just creates a mess. For instance, to load a Christmas album where each track is by a different artist, I would have to remember each artist’s name, and use that information to find and load each individual track separately. (This is an especially huge problem for classical albums, where different tracks commonly feature different artists.) Does anyone know a way to, maybe, organize the whole iTunes folder by album instead? Or shareware that does this? It would completely solve the problem.
I believe that for future albums I can save them as compilations and they will sort more usefully. But what’s the solution for albums that iTunes has already saved?
Sorry if this is an old topic.

    ahhh, that must be it!
i see that folder but don't know how stuff got in there.
how do i mark music to go there?
or do i have to drag it manually?
    sorry--i'm a little lost
    thank u!
