Wdf_violation

Help! Have new computer with Windows 8, and now I can't transfer purchases to my ipod classic - Keep getting wdf_violation and then my computer shuts down. Have tried enabling disc use. My software is up to date. Any ideas???

I found the solution!!!  Even ended up educating the tech -- who didn't have a clue.
I  have a brand new  7th gen iPod Nano, a brand new Windows 8 laptop, and  iTunes 11. Everything was working all fine and dandy until I unchecked  "Enable Disc Usage in iTunes on my iPod.  Then all **** broke loose.  I  got the blue screen of death with the WDF_violation and I couldn't even  plug my Nano in without it crashing my computer, let alone access iTunes  to re-enable Disc Usage. Because the crashes happened immediately after  I did that I just KNEW it had something to do with that.  Trouble is, I  couldn't fix it.... or so I thought.
I was on the  phone with the tech, who was telling me it was a driver issue (  impossible because both the laptop and iPod are brand new) and I was  looking around in iTunes while she did.
HERE IS YOUR SOLUTION:   Edit --> Preferences --> Devices.  Check Prevent iPods, iPhones  and iPads from syncing automatically.  Then plug in your iPod, re-enable  the Disc Usage, and voile!!!!!!  Problem solved.

When syncing ipod, receiving blue screen error WDF_Violation

I am having a similar problem. I have an iPod Classic 80Gb with a brand new computer using iTunes11 on Windows 8.
iTunes sees the iPod on the Sidebar, but when I try to sync or change any settings, roughly half the time it will crash my windows and cite a WDF Violation error. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Regardless, even if it doesn't crash, it won't sync. It gets as far as "Starting Sync" and then it just stops.
I have verified that the iPod still syncs fine on my old xp machine, and I have tried the following, all to no avail.
    Enabling Disk use
Converting higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC
Deleting and reinstalling the iPod's drivers through device manger
Running iTunes in XP SP3 compatibility mode
    Running iTunes as Administrator
At one point, with disk use enabled and 128 kbps bit rate selected, I managed to get it to prompt me to Erase and Sync. it went on to erase everything on the iPod, but would not load any of my media back up. Subsequent attempts to sync gave the same result.
I had a look at the link above, but it's a brand new computer and I installed and updated everything myself to the latest version, except my Wacom tablet, which was acting funny with the latest driver, but it can't be that because the original driver from the install CD I reverted too has workd fine in conjunction with iTunes and this same iPod for years on my other machine.
I am getting extremly frustrated with this. Someone please help make it better !?!

  • Ipod Won't sync to Windows 8 PC

My PC with Windows 8 was crashing after syncing my Ipod Nano. I was not experiencing the problem when Syncing my IPAD nor my classic IPOD. I was getting a blue screen with a message WDF_Violation after sync my IPOD NANO. I followed a recommendation I found ina MS forum of uninstalling Itunes and some other Apple applications and then reinstalling everything, but the problem persisted. I had the impression that a violation was triggered when Itunes was trying to automatically eject the NANO, but it was hard to tell due to the blue screen error. What I decided to do is to check on the IPOD Nano SUMMARY page ENABLE DISK USE. This requires to manually eject the device before disconnecting it (Task bar, right click on devices and then select the IPOD NANO to disconnect your IPOD). I have connected/disconnected  the IPOD NANO multiple times and  so far so good, no blue screen. Has anybody experienced this problem and found a different solution?

So, after spending a few hours on the phone with an Apple tech person - who was trying his best to figure this out - I brought his attention to these messages.  We finally figured out that Windows 8 driver for the new generation ipod nano & the latest version of itunes do not like one another.  It has to be the three of these items together before it crashes.  The driver is not working properly in this scenario.  I did discover that I can add a few items at a time and it will work.  When I tried to synch my entire library for first use with the new nano it would not do it.  By adding 10 or so items at a time I finally got what I wanted on the ipod.  When it crashes it also causes the nano to turn off after a minute or so and it has to be reset to factory settings before use again so you don't want to get too agressive with adding items to it because once it crashes you'll have to give up everything you have on there to reset it and get it to stay on.  Very frustrating.
Microsoft needs to fix the Windows 8 driver!

  • IPod Nano 6th gen. won't sync to iTunes 11 on Windows 8?

Hi, I recently acquired a new Windows 8 laptop and after installing iTunes 11 I decided to sync my iPod Nano 6th gen. My iPod was last synced to iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7. When I synced the iPod to the new laptop I was receiving the problem of the WDF_VIOLATION which had something do to with Windows 8 and iTunes 11 being in compatible. I changed the compatibilty settings for Itunes to Windows 7 and the error has passed. The problem left standing is that my iPod will now not sync the library. After clicking"sync" either a very fast recognition happens or nothing at all will hapen and either way I'm left with the same music as I had on the previous iTunes. Is there a reason or anything I can do to change this? Thanks

You can only sync with one iTunes library. See the following for switching syncing computers.

  • Please review windows 8 is not compatible with 7gen nano it causes a WDF violation.

I have 7th gen ipod nano,  i am running windows 8 and when I connect the ipod  and launch itunes, a blue screen pops up and says WDF violation and then my computer reboot
is there solution to resolve this and how?
If Apple actually reivews this they should know that i am not the only one having this problem!!!!!!!!  check the Microsoft Formum
this only happens with latest ipod's, Iphone 4s connects and works just fine.

  • Connecting my gen 4-5 nano to new HP laptop windows 8 using USB 3.0 port computer restarts

Connecting my gen 4-5 nano to my new HP laptop Windows 8 using USB 3 port itunes opens then an error message "your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart ........." WDF Violation. If I don't disconnect the nano the computer will keep restarting. After restarting a window opens saying it wants to send the following files to Microsoft "C:\Windows\Minidump\010413-20875-01.dmp, C:\Users\Curt\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-69015-0.sysdata.xml, C:\Windows\Memory.DMP". It does this using any of the 3 USB 3 ports. Using the USB 2 port it works just fine. Thanks for any help and as info.

  • How can I sync my 5th generation ipod nano with my Windows 8 computer?

Every time I try to sync, my computer restarts with a WDF_VIOLATION.  I read something about reinstalling with Windows 7 compatability.  I need step by step instructions.  Thanks.
