WDO.EXE Firefox crash, had to re-install
was on Ebay, and my antivirus programme (AVG-Free) reported a "backdoor trojan" with the name of WDO.EXE, asked if I wanted to allow or quarentine, so I chose Quarentine, but everything locked up. I waited for a while but the message about the trojan was still onscreen, everything had locked. I then Cntrl_alt_del and restarted the machine. Downloaded SAV32cli. followed those instructions, and it found nothing. Neither did Malwarebytes, or Spybot, however Microsoft Update would not work, nor would Firefox (8.01) FF brought up a Crash report, which would not send.
I performed a system restore, and that sorted MS update, but not FF. I uninstalled FF, and have just Reinstalled it (9.xx). There did not appear to be anything about WDO.EXE from google, so I really dont know if this was a Trojan attack or a FF glitch, but I will no longer use this machine for Banking etc, until SOMETHING reports WDO.EXE removed (apart from me within Regedit). Wanted to contact Mozilla, to find out if anyone had heard or dealt with WDO.exe. I found a WDC.EXE, and followed instructions for that, but the lines in the registry to delete were not there, so I am happy that I wrote down the correct thing when it appeared.

I downloaded the extra malware scanners, as I have already scanned with both Malwarebytes, and Spybot Search and destroy. I did not bother with Microsoft Defender, because I am sure that this only works with a Win7 system, and mine is XP-Pro.
Superanitispyware, came up with tracking cookies and quarentined something called PaypalXXX.net, but have no idea what that is, and it didnt report anything as being malicious.
Ad Aware....left running over night, takes AGES, however came up with 1 malicious trojan which was named Trojan_BT...Again no idea what that is, and cannot find where the quarentine area is within the programme to see excactly where it was, although, I am sure that both programmes found the malicious whatever in each others signiture bases.
Nothing has come up with WDO.EXE yet, and as I am in a slow broadband country type area, all these spyware programmes "live protection" slows everything down to a grind.
Will continue NOT to do banking with this machine until something is found.
Incidently Apple quicktime player, did not work correctly when tried last night, with various "unable to find this that or the other" type of messages.
As I have done a System restore to get things working again, I believe that I have left a virus "dormant" somewhere, but until someone knows what and where wdo.exe is and does, it is in a vulnerable position.

Okay, computer crashed and had to re-install itunes, how do i get all the songs on my daughter's iopd back into the library. After I installed itunes, a window popped up saying that this ipod is already in sync with another library, and can only be synced with one library at a time. But I don't HAVE the other library anymore. It gives me two options, to erase everything on the ipod and replace it with whats in the new library (which has nothing but 3 free songs that will get deleted anyway) or the transfer just the purchased songs into the new library. Connect your iPod and when you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
If I try to read my email, it crashes 2 or 3 times before it works. The same with nearly every other website that is required to 'load' up. It never did before Firefox 9.0.1 was installed. I have try un-installing and re-installing, but it is still the same problem. I have checked for malware, spyware and viruses and there are none. It's getting really annoying as I can also be typing an email for example, and it crashes and I have to start again. My computer runs on Vista. Please can you advise me. Thanks. (I'm not too technical minded).
Thank you for your suggestions. I have un-installed the Trusteer Rapport program and so far, so good. No problems with crashing and everything is working so much quicker now. I suppose my computer may be less protected without the Rapport program, but I will run my AVG and Malware programs once per week now and keep them updated. I had no problems when I didn't have the Rapport up to the time when I first installed it. I'm meaning problems with security rather than a slow browser.

I have a new computer. I transferred all my data files and installed my programs. Now, when I try to print a page ti pdf using Adobe Acrobat 9, Firefox crashes, and Adobe hangs up.
Thanks for your reply cor-el. I had never heard of nor seen the pref network.http.max-connections until I read about it in some of the replies in this support forum. People were saying 256 was the old setting and a new setting of 48 would correct my problem. When I followed the instructions to get to - see - and change the setting I discovered that my network.http.max-connections was already set to 48. I never did this. The only way I can think of that this setting was changed is that it happened by an automatic update to my Firefox browser. So, the problem I have was probably happening while this setting was at 48 all along. It is still set at 48 and I am still having the same problem. I will try as you suggest and set it to 30 and see what happens. I'll let you know the results. That's again for your response.

just about any action in firefox will cause a "WHITE SCREEN" freeze up and then an error message stating that firefox has stopped working. This happens in EVERY sessioin of firefox.
I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6. -
Firefox crashes in Win 7 continue in clean Win 8.1 install on a new drive
In addition to the Firefox crashes on an ongoing basis, I had BSOD system crashes once or twice a week in Windows 7. Did a clean install of Win 8.1 on a fresh drive and have the same issues. Drivers? Bad memory? Everything else works perfectly. Thanks in advance for any help.

Firefox crashes on clean install safe mode doesn't work
Mozilla crash Reporter opens when I load Firefox. I completely uninstalled Firefox including all the profiles and registry keys. When I reinstall it I still get the same proplem. There is no Firefox safe mode shortcut in the Mozilla folder and when I hold down shift and load Firefox I get the same result.
This all started after I had a problem installing flash on ie. I was getting a getplus r has stopped working crash while installing flash for ie. So then I saved the flash install file to my desktop and tried installing it that way. When I stalled it listed Firefox as the browser probably because Firefox is my default browser. I went ahead and installed it anyway, even though flash was working on Firefox, because I was trying a million different things to get flash on ie. Well ever since I did that Firefox will not open. I don't know what else I can remove without uninstalling windows. I finally did get flash to work on ie, but I have since uninstalled it too trying to get Firefox back on..

I had downloaded and installed one of those automatic Windows update and now whenever I try to open my Firefox I get an error message, "Platform version 6.0.2 is not compatible with minVersion >6.0.1 maxVersion <6.0.1
If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder.

Firefox crashes a few times when I was on Facebook and with email, also watching dramas online. Most of the time due to Adobe Flash and I did submit crash report. Later it crashes for unknown reason while I have email and Facebook on different tabs -- when I was on the tab of email, it looks system hang and not responding. This happened to my laptop that uses Windows Vista as I noticed. I don't remember it ever happens to my desktop that uses Windows XP.
It's pretty annoying of such known crash, but before removing Firefox, I did try to update all add-ons or plugins and it looks like doesn't work out. After updating for couple times and it still crashed like that, I removed Firefox and reinstall it.

Mac OSX 10.5.8 system. Problems have been ongoing with the Firefox I had installed a while ago: would open browser in Safari, and FF would take over; keep asking me to personalize my browser program. In truth, Firefox was kind of "taking over", and I wasn't happy with it. Usually open the internet in Safari.
Present problems started with trying to download, install and open a few new games. Kept telling me I needed to install Adobe Flashplayer. I could download it, but it wouldn't install. Downloaded both the Flashplayer installer AND the Flashplayer uninstaller a number of times. Today, I decided to get rid of the Firefox on my hard drive and download a newer version - then try again to download Flashplayer and install. Firefox crashes when I try to watch a movie type youtube, has just installed nero and Nikon software on my computer. This began shortly after I installed my new CD burner with Nero 9 burning software, about the same time I also installlerade my new Nikon camera software ViewNX2, I ran Avira scan and Microsoft Egan virus scan and they say everything is good in it, he reported a few times, I ran Avira scan of your computer and Microsoft's own Virus Scanning and they say everything is good in it, he reported a few times, tried again now and the sound is heard all the way but the image is still, therefore gentle freezes, got no number on the bug report so I can not say that. Also ask your pardon for errors in language that may be present but hope you understand anyway!

I have had some difficulties with my Firefox recently: crashing occasionally, not always loading a page on the first try, saved e-mails or passwords working off and on. I trashed my current version of Firefox (I was told by my tech guys to uninstall it and download a new version, but I couldn't find an uninstall package for mozilla, so I dragged it to the Trash) and I uninstalled flip4MAC, too. I tried to download version 4, but my system could not run it, so I downloaded 3. 16. 12 - it worked really great for a while, but then started to revert to its old problems and my tech guys said I might not have done a complete uninstall- I am a bit of a techno-peasant, so I may have not done it properly. In the meantime, I upgraded my Internet service with Bell and was going to download Snow Leopard- I have Tiger- to see if that helped, but after the upgrade, Mozilla won't even open at all; the window comes up with a tab that says "restore session" and it freezes immediately and then closes with a crash report and an icon in the apps bar called "Crash Reporter." I have copied the incident report and am including it with this email. Bell tech support says it is not their issue, it's mine, which I think is probably correct, but why did it completely crash after the upgrade?
I did go on Mozilla Firefox's website for support through Safari, and tried all the suggestions, but Safari's Mozilla Firefox only displays the search bar and not the address bar, so I used the tip to got ''library/,'' etc to get the crash i.d. I was able to get the i.d., but when I typed in the url with my crash id, I got an error message: File not Found. I've been having problems with my computer, and had to delete Firefox entirely several times. I don't believe it was your browser that was the problem, though now I have lost all my saved bookmarks. I did export them to IE as an HTML file, which I still have on my desktop. I am now in the painful process of remembering and resetting passwords that Firefox remembered when I had it originally installed (I am back at ground zero with the browser now).
