WDS Capture Image Failing to Load

Using the instructions posted here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/11680.creating-a-capture-image-in-wds.aspx I created a capture image and then injected network drivers into the boot image. When trying to load the capture image
I get the error:
Status: 0x000000f Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Does anyone know what might cause this or how to resolve this issue?

Hi,
First test to add/remove any mass storage drivers when capture the image.
Also the error could relate to BCD corrupt. Check BCD entry to see if it is correct. You could try following 3 commands:
a.  bcdedit /set {default} device partition=c:
b.  bcdedit /set {default} osdevice partition=c:
c.  bcdedit /set {bootmgr} device partition=c:

  • Images fail to load completely

I regularly visit a web site which displays many photographs. Often some of the images fail to load completely, I may see the top 30% of the image and the rest shows as a grey box. Pasting the same URL into Firefox, shows the whole image.
Any ideas? This has been a long term problem with Safari, both on a MBP and PowerBook G4.

  • Images fail to load into the browser

    Hello,
Sometimes images fail to load into the browser (they show up as a red "X"). Does anyone know why? Refreshing often loads them correctly, but then a different image will not load (and show a red "X").
    Thanks very much,

    Hi Vikas,
Thank you very much for your help on this. I am now using a faster computer and the problem no longer happens. I did understand your suggestion - I was brainstorming ideas to make changes to APEX to account for slow computers, or computers without enough memory. To somehow guarantee a level of service for APEX applications at the end user's browser. Similar to how Oracle Enterprise manager can help guarantee certain SLAs for J2EE web applications, by monitoring performance from the browser all the way back to the disk. (I'm not sure if it 100% can do this today, but I believe this is the direct it is headed).
Well, I suppose if everyone uses fast computers this is no longer an issue. But, sometimes fast computers are hard to come by.
    Thanks again for your help,

  • WDS capture image on a Windows 2012 R2 server fails with a winload error

    Hello,
I have been fighting with this problem for days now. I have to install
30 Win8.1 Pro PC's with  WDS. The WDS service is running on a Win2012 R2
server. I added the Win 8.1 Pro boot and install images and created a capture image.
Now when I boot the reference computer I get  a Boot Manager message saying that winload.exe is missing or corrupt. The original boot wim works
correctly.I removed and added the WDS role a couple of times, I tried the procedure with a 32 bit Win7 boot image, and that worked, But when I added the capture image created from the original Win8.1 boot.wim, that spoiled both capture images.  I tried
the same thing with a Win2012 R2 Standard server after removing and adding the WDS role again, but the capture image generated the same error as above. .I see that since about mid-April many people has the same problem.Different solutions are suggested, but
none of them   worked for me.  One of them is to mount and unmount the capture image, that didn't help for me.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gabor

Do I understand correctly that if you deploy original wim file to your testPC1 it works all right, but if you deploy an image that you captured on buildPC to testPC1 then you get the winload.exe error ?
Are you formatting (deleting all the partitions) on testPC1 during the
deployment of captured image ? Can you check and confirm if the HDD seting for AHCI or IDE (yes, its still around) is the same option on both stations?

  • WDS Capture Image Blank Screen with Cursor

Hey everyone, happy Friday and Happy Sysadmin Day!
Not super happy for myself unfortunately! I'm having a problem with a Capture Image in WDS. I have a Sysprepped Dell 6440 running Windows 7 x64.I've created a Capture Image in WDS from a boot image with drivers injected and without drivers injected, but every time I boot from PXE, it gets to the windows loading screen, and then it just shows a blank screen with a cursor.I'm using Microsoft's OpenLicense ISO as a base for the boot.wimI can't find any solution that works. I've tried mounting and unmounting the WIM, restarting WDS, etc. This is getting really frustrating as I'm so close to having these images ready. The blank screen won't do anything, won't open a cmd with Shift+
F10 or anything. I've also tried booting on a different machine and it does the same thing.Any suggestions are...

  • Re: WDS Capture image with programs and updates

I am creating a new image.  I just booted the OEM Windows 7 Professional right out of the box and started running updates, adding programs, joined to the domain etc.  I would  like to keep all of those items so as I deploy more laptops (about 50 more to go) they all have the most up to date items.

Spiceworks friends,I have been deploying all of our laptops via WDS for last the several months (WDS was being used already prior to me taking over as senior engineer). The image was already created awhile back. We now have updated our laptops to a newer model in which the existing image does not work with. I know the basics of capturing an image, however, is there a way to add all our programs and all of the windows updates to not have them removed after running the sysprep? I saw it looks like you need to configure some type of answer file. I would like to have the following on the image:Windows updates (from today's date, run all the updates)Microsoft OfficeMitel UCA softwareDropboxCisco VPNAdobe Readerand a few other programsAny help would be greatly appreciatedScott.

  • Image Capture Boot Image Fails with 0xc000000f

I am trying to capture a Windows 8.1 Enterprise (with Update) x64 installation using WDS, but the Capture Image fails to load. I used the boot.wim from the Windows Server 2012 R2 (with Update) ISO to create a boot image in WDS and then a capture image from
it. After I press F12 and the progress bar finishes the following message appears:
This only happens when I boot the capture image - the original boot image that I imported in WDS boots normally. I also tried with the Windows 8.1 (with Update) boot.wim, but the issue reoccurs. This is a Hyper-V VM on Windows Server
2012. Is this a problem with the recent update?

    Hi,
We’re currently experiencing exactly the same issue. Also a fully-updated Server 2012R2 (with the recent KB2919355 update) machine.
So far, I found two other posts with exactly the same issue:
    1) http://wp.secretnest.info/?p=1474
    2)
    http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/472581-wds-capture-image-winload-exe-corrupt-or-missing
According to these posts it seems like the issue occurs after the first time a capture image based upon a Windows 8.1 or Server2012R2 boot.wim is created.
What I’ve tried so far is removing the server role, deleting the WDS store, rebooting the server and start over with a Windows 7 boot.wim. The normal boot.wim starts ok, but the created capture image doesn’t.
So the process of creating the capture boot image did ‘something’ in a way the new boot.wim differences from the old boot.wim. To find out what, I first mounted the new .wim file to see if winload.exe is actually there – it is both in
system32 as well as systen32\boot. So my second guess was that the Windows Boot Manager cannot find the windows loader, because of an incorrect declaration of disks in the BCD store.
I used BCDEDIT to show the differences between the working and non-working boot images:

So the ID for the osdevice is the same, and only the device is different, but mentioned correctly under Device options (as far as my knowledge goes in this subject). I hope there will be a solution anytime soon.

  • Lightroom 5.5 grid view fails to load some images.  These do load in develop, then re-appear in grid.  Re-installed 5.4 (after deleting 5.5, then emptying trash in 10.9.5) and it now exhibits same behavior.  Suggestions?

These same images fail to load in slideshows; "loading" appears without the image ever appearing.  I can export these grayed-out images and retrieve the image content in the exported file.  Not being able to see all images in grid view is an inconvenience for sure; e.g., I can't review all the contents of a collection before posting it.  This behavior didn't occur until I upgraded to 5.5.  Now it has migrated back into 5.4, despite having selected 5.5 and emptying trash before the re-install.

Whoa this is happening to me...

    on a MacBook running 10.4.10
Some web pages, like yahoo.com, aol.com, myspace.com, etc... the text loads no problem but images fail to load. It strangely doesn't always happen though (just 99% of the time)
I honestly don't think it's an issue solely for Safari, as the same thing happens in FireFox. I don't think it's the network either, cuz I can load those same sites on my iBook running 10.4.10
I've tried PRAM and trashing prefs to no avail. Does anyone have a clue what will solve this?

  • WDS capture stuck at windows is loading files image.wim

    Hello,
We have a new Dell XPS 13 that I have built up for Windows 7, I want to capture the image using PXE boot to our server.
However, after I press F12 and get the the screen "Windows is loading files..." the screen seems to just hang at one point with the text below "IP: 192.168.3.252, File: \boot\x64\Images\capture image.wim"
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks
    Ash

You are best posting this to a WDS forum as ConfigMgr does not use the capture image methodology that native WDS does. Speaking of which though, why are you using native WDS instead of MDT? MDT is far more powerful and is actually easier to use than native
    WDS.

  • Windows 7 Professional PC hangs at "Loading files" when trying to boot with custom capture image on Windows Deployment Services.

I have created a custom capture image in WDS. Now when I try to boot my reference PC into this image the PC hangs at "Loading files". The reference PC is running Windows 7 and I am using Windows Server 2012 Standard on my server.
I have followed the instructions on how to create the custom capture image on the server to a fault. I PXE boot the PC and it shows the capture images after I hit F12. The problem is that it starts to boot and then hangs about 2/3 way through the progress

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • WDS 2012 Black Screen when trying to capture image

I'm currently having an issue trying to capture windows 8.1 Enterprise image using Server 2012 R2 + WDS for deployment.
All the usual steps have been followed, images added from the install media used to set up the initial machine, DHCP configured and PXEBoot works fine for the deployment image (it loads, I get an ip, can access reminst share) but when I boot in the capture
image I get nothing but a black/blank screen.
Initially when I booted in to the capture image I was receiving an 0xC000000F error but by adding the network driver to the capture image it resolved that issue and it gives the blue windows logo and starts loading but then goes black. I've subsequently
tried to add all available drives for this machine from the HP site but made no difference.
WDS server is a hyper-v VM and the box to be capture is physical, both on the same vlan.
    Any one experienced this?

I did not find any help with this. I was able to get a native boot.wim and install.wim to work from the installation media (with driver injection - which I must say is way easier in W2K12). However the capture did not and will not work. VERY frustrating!
I wound up doing a WDS basic OS install then I had to manually touch 24 boxes to install the rest of the software (still not quite done after three solid days of work).
Also, I should point out: I am targeting Dell Optiplex 790s. I'm using the PE 5.0 drivers which work fine. i also downloaded the Dell Optiplex 790 driver set and injected those as well, even though they are targeted for Win 7, not Win 8.1.
Interestingly, if I updated the old system bios (A05) to the new (A18) the machine couldn't even contact the WDS server. It was working before at A05 and then completely stopped at A18, requiring me to do a complete full install from installation media.
Way to go Dell! This is why people are switching to Lenovo.
    Best,
    Bill

  • WDS 2012 Image Capture - Stuck at 50% "Capturing Windows image metadata..."

I have tried capturing a few images after running sysprep, and they are getting stuck at 50% completion, never moving past after hours of waiting.  "Capturing Windows image metadata...".  If I look on the WDS server I see that the file
hasn't been modified since it was actually capturing and moving the progress bar.
Has anyone ever experienced this, or have any ideas of how to troubleshoot?
    Thank you!

What system edition and MDT edition you are capturing? If it is Windows8 or 8.1, it seems is the know issue, you can refer the following KB:
