WDS capture stuck at windows is loading files image.wim

Hello,
We have a new Dell XPS 13 that I have built up for Windows 7, I want to capture the image using PXE boot to our server.
However, after I press F12 and get the the screen "Windows is loading files..." the screen seems to just hang at one point with the text below "IP: 192.168.3.252, File: \boot\x64\Images\capture image.wim"
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Ash

You are best posting this to a WDS forum as ConfigMgr does not use the capture image methodology that native WDS does. Speaking of which though, why are you using native WDS instead of MDT? MDT is far more powerful and is actually easier to use than native
WDS.

  • Windows 7 install hangs at "Windows is loading files ..." on MBA

    I have been trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate but each time the install hangs at "Windows is loading files ..." on reboot. I am using a Windows install DVD using an external drive. When the install hangs, the DVD is not being accessed. I have tried several times and it leads to the same result. I have tried different partition sizes (20 GB - 50 GB), no luck.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Solution
    I have a macmini bought in mid2011 with OS Lion on it. AS it doesnot come with an optical drive, I bought an LG DVD drive and used the windows 7 (64bit) installation DVD. It stopped at windows is loading files....
    I tired couple of other options like using flash dirve but it dint work.
    The I went to Apple's Genius Bar, and they put the installation dvd into their dvd drive (by Apple). Then the windows installed perfectly fine.
    When asked they said it must be the problem of DVD and I found out that it actually is the cause. Apple products require dual layer optical drives but in general the optical drives we buy can only read single layer dvds. So I got to fix the problem by borrowing their dvd drive in genius bar and now i m good to go.....
    Hope this helps

    Is the message that the printer is offline?
    Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.
    If not then check the USB cable between the computer and printer and reseat it if necessary.

  • MDT 2012 + WinPE 4.0 + VMWare ESXi - Hangs "Windows is loading files" booting into PE

    I'm trying out using MDT 2012 and WinPE 4.0, upgrading things. I've recreated things following templates in MDT 2012. I'm also using ADK and WinPE 4.0.
    Issue I'm seeing is upon restarting into WinPE I see the screen showing Windows is Loading Files and the progress bar. I see the first one load through and then the second slower one load through. Once progress bar fills, it just does nothing and I'm left
    looking at a complete progress bar.
    I was trying obviously first using VMWare ESX 5.0 with no success, subsequently tried a couple of physical machines and those had no problems. I still want to get working on ESX since that will help speed up development and testing of the rest of the stuff
    I need to upgrade. Tried a variety of SCSI controllers within ESX vms. I tried VMWare Workstation 9 with the mixed results as with the LSI Logic Parallel SCSI controller had success but not the others.
    I of course at first tried making sure drivers were added with no change, although that still could be an issue with drivers I found to put in being incorrect.
    More interestingly though is that I can of course install Windows 8 from install media just fine on these hardware, as well as if I create an ISO from the deployment share and boot to that it works just fine, so it seems to just be an issue when booting
    to WinPE on disk.
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    I did have the same problem with ESXI 4.1 and Windows 8.
    I found a full solution with the following:
    download the linked file at the bottom of this post and add the following options to your vmware-configuration
    file:
    bios440.filename =
    "<full path to rom image>"  --> if file in folder of vm only "bios.440.rom
    mce.enable = TRUE
    cpuid.hypervisor.v0 =
    FALSE
    vmGenCounter.enable =
    FALSE
    This worked for me for several environment with an older ESXI-invironment and Windows 8.

    I can confirm that this works also!  Many thanks!

  • Windows Is Loading Files..

    This has been happening to me for quite a while now.
    I boot the computer, if I forced mode it asks whether I want to enter Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking or normally.
    I usually go on Networking Safe Mode due to the blue screen error on Normal that I cba to fix.
    It says 'Windows Is Loading Files', does the microsoft loading thingy then the screen goes bigger as if it was in safe mode, but it goes to start up repair.
    ...Searching for problems... Windows cannot repair this computer automatically... For the 40th time! "If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music play-" Hey.. I just want to play Xbox Live.
    I finish, it restarts and repeats continuously.
    I have tried all the stuff the other effing forums have thrown at me but they have been not much help.
    This is the Toshiba forums, i should have tried here first.. but can anyone PLEASE help me?

    Hi
    You are using Win 7?
    Usually the Win 7 and Vista as well supports some repair options.
    Start the notebook, press F8 and then choose the first option called Repair my Computer.
    There you should find some repair settings.
    I worst case you could recover the notebook using an HDD recovery option (can be found in Repair my Computer if available) or you could use your Toshiba recovery disk in order to reinstall the OS.

  • Lenovo G550 'Windows is loading files'

    When I turn theLenovo G550 on it displays 'Windows is loading files', then goes straight to start up repair. I let this run but it eventually finished and said that it wasn't able to repair it. A Windows memory diagnostic was run, no results from this either.
    So has anyone got any ideas what I can do next?

    Try this
    Start pressing F8 after Bios screen and wait until you get advanced boot options. Then choose start windows normally. See if it works and try a reboot also.

    Troubledguy, welcome to the forum.  We'll try to get you smiling again.
    When I hear these symptoms, I consider two main components: 1) the hard drive and 2) the memory.  Here is a guide to help you run the SMART test on the hard drive from the BIOS.  It will tell you if the hard drive is failing or has failed.  You can test the memory by removing all of the modules and replacing them one at a time and booting.  Place the single module in the slot closest to the processor.

  • Blank window when loading an image

    Hello,
    I'm new on Javafx, i've written the following example for loading an image, but it does not work.
    Here is the code
    <code>
    public class Load_Image extends Application {
    * @param args the command line arguments
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    launch(args);
    @Override
    public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
    Rectangle rec = new Rectangle(200, 400);
    ImageView iv = new ImageView(
    new Image(getClass().getResourceAsStream("image.png")));
    iv.setFitHeight(rec.getHeight());
    iv.setFitWidth(rec.getWidth());
    StackPane root = new StackPane();
    root.getChildren().add(iv);
    primaryStage.setScene(new Scene(root, 300, 250));
    primaryStage.show();
    </code>

    I'm sure there is a theoretical limit, but it should be large enough to hold anything you are likely to use.
    Can you open the image in other programs? Does [url http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/api/javafx/scene/image/Image.html#isError%28%29]Image.isError() return true? And where exactly have you placed the image?

  • Windows 7 Professional PC hangs at "Loading files" when trying to boot with custom capture image on Windows Deployment Services.

    I have created a custom capture image in WDS. Now when I try to boot my reference PC into this image the PC hangs at "Loading files". The reference PC is running Windows 7 and I am using Windows Server 2012 Standard on my server.
    I have followed the instructions on how to create the custom capture image on the server to a fault. I PXE boot the PC and it shows the capture images after I hit F12. The problem is that it starts to boot and then hangs about 2/3 way through the progress
    bar.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Boot Camp / Win 7 (64-bit) install hangs at "windows loading files"

    I was hoping I might get some help from the community. I've got the new MBP 15", 2.66/i7 and OS 10.6.3. I launch Boot Camp utility, assign a partition for Windows (76 GB in this case), insert the Win 7 disc (Home Premium 64-bit OEM I just bought) when prompted, and the laptop restarts.
    It asks me to press any key to boot off the CD/DVD (screen color is blocked a bit oddly, but no worries). I press a key, screen goes black, and the message, "windows is loading files" appears. The white status bar below it progresses from the left all the way to the right, and then the whole process freezes before going to the next step.
    I found another person's solution post on this here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=703045
    I haven't tried it yet, because I don't understand if I have too format the whole drive or just a partition. I don't understand his solution completely, so I was hopeful someone could tell me if it even sounds like it might work or if there is another known solution.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for including the details. Up front even better. Two different makes? AMD and Nvidia do not play together in Windows. 2 'extra' means 3 GPUs. Now there I would look at leaving just one.
    What I meant to say was just leave the one drive where Windows will go, no other drives present - pull those sleds. And put Windows in bay #1.
    Slowest burn speed, which is usually 2x but if 4x is the slowest setting, fine. Odd behavior and bad installs even when it does appear to.

  • WDS 2012 Image Capture - Stuck at 50% "Capturing Windows image metadata..."

    I have tried capturing a few images after running sysprep, and they are getting stuck at 50% completion, never moving past after hours of waiting.  "Capturing Windows image metadata...".  If I look on the WDS server I see that the file

    Has anyone ever experienced this, or have any ideas of how to troubleshoot?

    What system edition and MDT edition you are capturing? If it is Windows8 or 8.1, it seems is the know issue, you can refer the following KB:

  • Unattended WDS capture of Windows 7 reboot loop?

    Hi Folks,
    I am trying to capture a Windows 7 x64 SP1 image from an ESX 5.1 VM using W2K12 WDS server.
    It works fine reading the WDSCapture.inf file settings.  I start with Unattended=No, the fields are populated and the image capture is successful.  However, when I change Unattended=Yes, the VM boots up to the same boot file, into WinPE (starts
    a desktop window), but then immediately (and abruptly) reboots, PXE, select capture boot option, and continues to reboot.
    I've been following this article.  Anyone have suggestions how to stop this reboot and have it capture the image unattended?

    Hi,
    The follow entries are conflicted:
    DestinationFile=\\mswds.westcreek.net\REMINST\images\capturevm.wim
    UploadToWDSServer=Yes
    You can set the DestinationFile path to the local path, such as D:\capturevm.wim for test.
    For the UploadToWDSServer part, it would upload automatically. If you don’t want the local image, in WDS part, set this entry:
    DeleteLocalWIMOnSuccess=Yes
    Meanwhile, try this credential format:
    Username=Username
    Domain=Domain
